Video Chat Software - Vega General

My ReelPortal video conference software is reported to be working well on the Viewsonic G Tablet, the Archos 70/101, and the eLocity A7, with certain ROMs (firmware). I don't have any tablets at the moment, so I'm relying on user feedback to get a sense of what works.
However, a Vega tablet user is having problem seeing his webcam video on the Vega. I'm wondering if other Vega users can get it to work and how. If you are interested in trying it out, please download the Android apk and Adobe AIR at
http://reelportal.blogspot.com/p/download.html
You can run the PC/Mac/Linux web client version at www.reelportal.com.
Please provide feedback if you try it. Thanks.

Xmbc remote software

Dont know if anybody is familiar with XMBC but what iam looking for, well found but for iphone is a remote control app. There are some out there but i really like the look of http://remote.collect3.com.au/ . Its the GUi i like. Any body know of something similar for WM
Cheers
Take look here. This is working on MY tp2.

And here are the latest SVN's for the old XBOX.
http://t3ch.yi.se/
@purple8:
There's quite a few out there; also one called XMOTE. Pinged the dev and he informs me that he's working on a update which will also support the Apple iPad - suggest dropping him a note indicating your interest ... might motivate him further.
@mike2nl:
Have you tested this on a Gen1 XBOX with XBMC (ex: XBMC-SVN_2010-08-31_rev30587-T3CH) with a large audio library?
Keep us posted on the developments of this ... awesome find!
Been looking for an XBMC Remote for quite some time which would allow full control of XBMC without having to be in front of a screen. The Web GUI is fine but lacks much functionality - primarily because no one has really put time into improving it.
Cheers,

I think GRemote Pro has XBMC support. The free version might have it too, not sure. It also works with VLC, WMP, WinAmp, Boxee, and more. The GUI has options for gyroscopic mouse control, trackpad control, keyboard control, number-pad control, media remote control, joypad control etc. The Pro version isn't freeware, and the GUI is different, but it's a sweet app. Connects over WiFi or BlueTooth. There's a client that goes on your WM or Android phone, and a server that gets run on your home computer. Hope the info helps.

Zeemote Support For Android?

Before purchasing my N1, I saw a video of a Zeemote playing nice with Android promising full support 2 come. I've been hunting around and can't find any progress on this. I have my Zeemote working great with my TP2, thanks 2 a program I bought with a modified version 2 support WM. I searched the same site and only found Bluetooth keyboard support for Android. http://www.mymobilegear.com. Anybody heard anything?
Hi .. I just got a zeemote controller too but I only have 2 windows mobile devices. I've been looking for drivers desperately but havent found them yet. Can you please provide a link to the page where you purchased the wm modified drivers pls? I really want to pair my zeemote to my pocket pcs but havent been able to do so yet (no drivers). Pls help me
It is currently still in beta, but the developer is planning to release it to the market very soon. Both the zeemote and the bgp100 gamepads will work with it. I am a beta tester and can confirm that these bluetooth gamepads do in fact work with this software. The name for the beta software is "Gamepro" but not sure if he is planning to call it something else on the market. The website is correct, mymobilegear.com, look in "GamePad Driver Support Forums"
downloaded the drivers, they work great!
Thx for the info, I found the drivers that you mentioned (gamepro) and they work like a charm with the zeemote!! I will definitely purchase the full version of the drivers, since the beta keeps popping a reminder msg. Gaming on my HD2 just got a little bit more serious.. lol. Touchscreen is great but with the zeemote I can do a bit more hardcore gaming that i wasnt able to before (for ex in Megaman x (snes using morphgear) running and jumping while charging the laser..!)

Windows on Advent Vega

Hello im new to android i have a advent vega but will love it to have some sort of windows on it if anyone has any ideas or if this is possible please post thanks
Apparently the next version of Windows will be able to run on ARM processors such as the Tegra 2 in the Vega. I doubt it'll end up on the Vega, though someone might port it over.

If we do get windows on vega, would be able to install windows software such as skype, msn etc i probaly guess so but please correct if im wrong
I would be very surprised if windows will ever come to our vegas. Memory i would say is the main issue, xp would be the only one able to run with 512mb of ram, and that has poor touch screen support. I am running windows 7 with 1gb of ram (min system req) on my laptop, and it runs very slow. As far as i am aware even the netbook version needs 1gb. Be happy with android.
I wasn't really talking about windows 7 (although i would like that) but windows CE or windows mobile.
PS . As I said I only want it for the software.

Won't ever happen, windosws mobile is all closed source. Android is much better anyway, just get used to it
Agreed, winmob on the vega prob wont occour.
I too, miss some great apps and games which doubtfully will ever appear on andriod. The android gaming community, seems a little shallower than the wince lot.
I stll keep my htc touch and diamnd 2 specifically because of this.

android
i think if we can get android 3.0 (or whatever the numbers will be) on our vega's, its more then enough to have enough fun with it, an operating system that does not thing its a smartphone and optimized for tablets. i used many android smartphones before, but using even 2.2 on vega is more fun then any smartphone i think, at least you can read web sites and not harm your eyes
PS : i have a joojoo tablet too, which runs win7 and i think android is better and faster on a tablet like vega ( tegra2 tabets).
Some of the cheap import tablets like the Zenithink ZT-180 have roms for WinCE - but from what I have read nobody really uses them since even WinCE is pretty poor as a tablet OS (well, that and the ZT-180 is pretty rubbish!).
as a student you can get the windows embedded 7 development kit for free, that should be able to run on the advent vega but my knowledge isnt yet sufficient to build and deploy a rom in order t test it
I honestly don't understand this kind of question:
You have Windows a system built for PCs and to be operated specific using keyboard and mouse.
And then you have Android a system built for mobile devices to be operated specific with a touch screen.
I guess the question is not IF it's possible, but WHY in a hell would anyone even bother porting it?
Do you miss msn and skype? I got news for you, just download Skype and eBuddy from the market. Solved!

What about office tools? i have yet to find a decent word processor that retains all (or most) of word's features.
sadly, while gdocs looks lovely, writing documents is still a pain..
Although I also wish that I could do some serious work on my tablet / smartphone, you simply can not do it (too small screen => primarily wasn't meant for this kind of job, but it's great in mobility and therefore "valuable information on the go").
Tablets & smartphones are used to consume / present information and PCs / workstations are used to generate that information.
I have also tried all kind of Office software (QuickOffice HD, Polaris Office, Docs To Go, GDocs,...), but reality is that generating information on Android is 30-50% slower than on a 20" monitor with keyboard & mouse hooked on a PC.
Yes, you could make a new office software on Android that would need a keyboard, mouse & external monitor, but that would defeat the purpose of mobility.
And sadly there is no such good software on Android with so many funtionalities that are found in Microsoft Office.
IMHO you can do up to 30 minutes of work without problems, for anything above that, please do yourself a favor and use a PC.
This something that may interest you. Only on ipad as of now, but I am sure will be on android soon.

Edit OK can't post a link... search windows thin client via on live.
Yes, I already heard of that tech.
It's something like remote desktop (but a bit better).
http://desktop.onlive.com/overview
Will see how this performs in real life when it's released for Android.

OnLive Desktop is now available on Android:

For free registration and more info, check my above post!
I would like to hear your thoughts on this software!
EDIT: It appears the download is US only.
Here is a link to APK file.
Hmmmm interesting I am downloading now

Yani, its a good app, have you tried? I will use this all the time when I use my Vega during work. I find the windows apps quite poor on Android (I uses docs to go). This is great for reading and creating basic files. There are a few problems I have found so far.
1. The UI is not really designed for touch screen, I used with my docking station, keyboard and mouse but still was hard to click on the right part due to the alignment being off slightly on the mouse pointer.
2. Docs saved to the virtual desktop can be downloaded from a site called files.onlive.com. However when you try to access this site it says 'only available in USA'. So might be a nightmare to get off what you have created.
What do you think?

Sorry, but I haven't used this myself.
If you read my signature, I'm still on stock Froyo and this app needs at least Gingerbread.
I've read only good things about this.
I use QuickOffice for documents, but I only view documents, and these android office apps aren't even good at that!
But I've tried OnLive (for gaming) on SGS and it's amazing!!!!111one
Now to get some answers for your questions:
1. I think you need to restart your OnLive desktop in order to fully accept your mouse&keyboard input.
2. I went to https://desktop.onlive.com/account/myfiles and uploaded a doc file and then redownloaded it without a problem. I'm from Slovenia - EU and I've used Firefox on a PC with Ubuntu/Linux OS.
hi lats how to install im write my email address and nothing why sombody help mi?thanks

[Q] sky player on the vega?

Hi
I got my vega a couple of days ago and ive got to say the info on this site has been awesome in getting me on the go with android market etc but ive just tried to go on my sky player and it says i need to download the silverlight (or something like that!!) but it doesnt seem to support it.
Does anyone know a way around it? Could do with an idiots guide really as im not over clued up on all the lingo!!!
Thanks in advance for any help given
Bazzaboy18
there is no silverlight on android so no way around it fella.
the closest you will get to silverlight is monodroid that is a cross platform sdk for c# development, the thing is sky player's drm doesnt allow it to work on anything but Microsofts silverlight never mind linux or android
I thought this might be the case, never mind, thanks for the reply.
I have just tried to watch something on the bbc iplayer and the picture quality was fairly poor anyway tbh, not sure the vega would be up to watching films on which is what i'd have done thru sky player.
Thanks again.

[Q] Problem with Adobe Flash Iconia A500

I have a problem with Flash not working on my A500. I have tried to install various versions to no avail. All I want it to do is view video content on the local news websites. I have had a live chat with local Acer support and they couldn't help me. ( Australia ) Does anyone have any idea on how to get it working ?????
All suggestions taken on board !

do you see any type of flash at all? or is it just the live video content which is not shown? please provide more details, such as a link to the website you seen not to have flash enabled?
flash should work fine, i got it running with live content for danish websites and tv stations broadcasting live video.
i feel flash works great (that is on 3.1) but 3.0.1 was working fine too.
what doesn't work? ive found that flash on Opera browser doesn't work at all, but viewing flash in stock browser works fine.
i read somewhere that you have to "tell" opera to use flash, however i looked and couldnt see how it was done.
More information
Thanks to you both for assisting. I have 10.3 installed, can play flash based games, but Opera, Dolphin or Firefox will not play video content. The browser that came with the unit can. Another curious thing, if I navigate to the home page of XDA-Developers I cannot play the video XDA TV Video, it says "download Plug in" but nothing happens when I click this .
Ok, your problems are the support of the apps, not the actual stock release.
I read somewhere Opera can be made working on 3.x with flash, but how, i dont know and i can be wrong..
you can only ask the apps makers for support here, asking Acer is really not much help..so go around Opera website and ask, or firefox forums..
All good, I suspected it was a proprietory issue rather than the Iconia so I will see what I can do with Firefox / Opera forums.
Cheers, Tom
Opera mobile does'nt support flash!
i think i use the default browser and works fine....
