Battery drain issue with sc 2.9.2v - Fascinate General

I was under the impression that the battery drain issue was fixed with new sc 2.9.2. Anyone else still having issues?

Edit: Apparently i was seeing things when i read new updates. No fix in SC. Back to waiting for my phone to die.

I don't have battery drain issues

Im only having problems with voodoo kernels. Flashed ec10v last night and had same issue. disabled voodoo and flashed back to eb01. did full wipe this morn and installed sc 2.9.2v and im back to same battery issue. its irritating.

No issue for me
I am actually seeing much better battery drain... I am on SC2.9.2V
im unplugged almost 4.5 hrs and im at 95% still....

sigh... working on battery calibration now. i have to leave for work soon so w/e i do it has to be now. lol. no comp access at work so i cant odin cwm if i break it. might just flash back to sc 2.9.2nv till i have time to play.

My 2.9.2. dropped 5% in 15 minute idle state.

Ouch... lol. Mine is about that bad. 15-20% an hour idle and 10% in 20 min just using xda app.

I feel your pain. In my case, and maybe yours, I think the culprit is the horrible coverage verizon gives me.

Does your battery drop to 0 that fast?
I have had a time where by battery dropped 15% within 1-2 hours, but then I was stuck on a certain percentage for hours.

Hello, I started a thread 2 weeks ago and it has some good info there. Take a look.
I update the OP regularly adding post made by others. No one has posted anything in a week. If you find how to fix your problems please post it there and I will add it to the OP. Its up to everyone to keep that thread alive.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987529

I've had issues as well. Mine are related to GPS wakelock. Every fresh boot I will consistently get a partial wakelock of 100% because of the GPS. Simply opening Maps and closing it will force the wakelock to release.
I'm curious as to why others aren't having this issue, yet some of us are?
I've tried the EB01 modem as well as the DL09 modem and its the same results. Aside from this, battery life is great...

When you say 'idle' do you mean like zero apps running (like stopping everything running via a task killer). Then what,, like keep the phone's screen lit up by not letting it sleep and monitor the battery drain over a period of time? I'll have to try that and see how mine does. I'm guessing mine will prolly drop 15-20% as well if I have the screen lit for a solid hour.. hmm
I didnt really think mine was working 'bad' though, I just figured thats about what these batteries in these could do. I can make it though a day without a re-charge but I admit I have to budget my usage of the phone thoughout the day.. not using it for long solid periods of time and such.. If 15-20% an hour drain would be considered 'bad', how much should it drop in an hour to be considered working 'well' in your opinions?

Well I spent all day charging, using and then recharging my phone. it died in about 5:45 hrs of med to heavy use. I used the method outlined in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987529
I lost 5% battery in 45 min this morning which would have been nice but it was idle in my pocket. :-(
I gave up... reflashed 2.92nv and im checking to make sure its not having same issue.
If anyone has more suggestions there are now 2 pages i found for this problem specific to the facinate.

My battery is pretty decent after clearing battstats. Heavy use I'll lose about 13% per hour. Idle is decent, 3-5% per hour.
2.9.2 ec10voodoo

Ok I did a little test with mine - I set my LCD screen timeout setting to 10 minutes, turned my wifi and gps off (left the cell radio on), killed all apps that were running in task manager. Then I sat the phone down on my desk with the screen lit up and tapped the screen every 8-9 minutes or so just to keep it from going to sleep for one solid hour. I didnt do anything else with or use the phone in any way during this time. My battery dropped 18% in one hour. Think I'll try the batt stat clear procedure and redo the same test and see if its any different.

Mine is horrible. For some reason, it drains in proportion to my use. If I use it constantly, and hardly put it down, I'm lucky to only get 6 hours out of it.
I don't get decent life unless I put it in airplane mode, turn off rotation, and don't use it. Then I'm good for
16 - 18 hours.
WTF¿

I can understand getting 6 to 8 hours if your a heavy user. but Im only concerned with my idle battery use. Juicedefender help some what. you can get it on the marketplace.
I'm still having the same issue with the nonvoodoo version. I'm still not sure how some users are getting over 40 hours of battery life.
as far as I can tell recalibrating my battery had no effect on the battery life. I plan on trying to recalibrate 1 more time in case I messed up the process. I will post my results in a day or 2. good luck to the rest of you. if you find anything out that may help me or anyone else please post it here

Help, my battery life sucks!

Hi,
I unplugged my phone this morning around 9 A.M, and sent about 50-100 texts today, and right now at 5:35 my phone is at 33%. The only thing that is running, is ADW.Launcher, and I've done LIGHT Twitter/Facebook checking throughout the day, maybe about 2-3 times each. I have Beautiful Widgets, but it's set to update every hour. I haven't talked on the phone at all, and my brightness is set to auto. My wifi is off, and I made sure I don't have GPS or anything on. What's killing my battery? My BB's battery life was 1000x better, I shouldn't have to baby this phone to have it make it through the day.
I'm running JT's Clean D101 rom, and that's it.
Edit - 32% now.
Get "OSMonitor" from the market (its free) and it will give you a real time display of all running processes and cpu % for each process. To make it easier to watch list open options in OSMonitor and sort by load and make sure order is checked as well. And watch the list for a couple of minutes to see the offender that is hogging the cpu. I've had problems with the xda app and I seem to be the only one that has it hammer the cpu after closing it so I always have to kill the xda app in task manager after using it or else it will ride the cpu between 8-20%.
My typical idle cpu usage is about 2-5% not including the cpu usage of OSMonitor itself.
good day.

Thats about normal time for a Smartphone. If you average that you used 66% of your battery in 8.5 hours, then its safe to say your battery is averaging 12 hours a day. Also, most of your battery will go to your display, and if you texting all morning, your display is going to be on all morning.
It also could be that your in an area with bad signal. Your phone is going to pump juice to try and keep signal.
As far as BlackBerry gos, its not nearly as smooth and capable. I could argue my flip phone from high school lasted four days without needing to be charged. Android is in an entirely different class than BlackBerry.
Is there a definitive process for conditioning or reconditioning the stock battery? I'm on my second fascinate(vzw replaced first one basically because of my frustration with the local vzw store) & I've noticed a big difference in battery life between the 2. First one was completely stock with adw launcher only & it got 16-20 hrs between charges. This one is rooted, some bloat removed, and I only get 8-10 hrs. Using os monitor to look for cpu hogs & so far no improvement. Put all my bloat file extensions back to stock in sys/app hoping to impact erratic charging cause it all started after root. Any ideas?

I'm no expert (standard disclaimer) but I don't think it's a matter of calibrating the battery as much as calibrating the software.
Power the phone down
Charge to 100%
Boot into CWM
Wipe Cache
Go into Advanced, and Wipe Battery Stats
Pull the battery, reinsert, and again charge until have 100%
Unplug, reboot, and run the phone in whatever your normal use is until you get as close as you can to a full discharge
Again power down and charge to full
As I understand it, this process allows the software to correctly read the true charge on the battery. if anyone sees any flaws with this, or anything incorrect in my information, please advise.
Are you using a Live wallpaper? I noticed an increase in my battery life after I turned it off, which is kind of stupid because it should only use CPU cycles when the screen is turned on.

This could be a big offender right here. Use the power control widget and keep it on the lowest brightness except for when you're in areas that make the screen too dim to make out (read: outside).
Thanks to Daswolven. Recalibrating the battery did the trick. The only thing I can link the issue to is having to charge from my laptop for 3 days last week due to a massive power outage in my area. Anyone else see this?

Help me understand the poor battery life on Fascinate

I have a work issued iPhone 4 and the fascinate. I fully charged both phones and put them on my desk at 3pm yesterday and did not use them at all. This morning the iPhone was at 98% charge and Fascinate was at 30%... Both phones sync with a exchange account and both have very good signal strength at my home.
I've checked the battery usage on Fascinate and the top 4 items are: Display 49%, Media server 15%, Cell standby 14% and Phone idle 9%. How can standby and idle use so much battery? I also used task manager and killed all running programs yesterday.
So what could be causing this? I can literally watch the battery percentage click down 1% for every couple of minutes of use.
Running Blackhole v1.3 with JT's Stable 11/11 kernel.
After a full day's worth of average use my battery (off the charger at 9am, on the charger at ~1am) My battery rarely drops into the orange.
You mentioned you had a task killer, I'd blame that first and foremost. Also, I think there was something inherently wrong with your test... if a screen that was off used 50% of the battery...
It's also entirely possible that you're just trolling, because I know from roomate experience that his phone if left alone is not at 98% battery after 24 hours. Also, APPLE lists the standby time as up to 300 hours. That would mean that at best you'd be looking at an ~8% drop after 24 hours.
That 15% used by the media server probably didn't help much. What all was your IPhone running in the background...oh wait, nevermind.
I dunno about the iphone but I feel you on the fascinate. I left mine off the charger, no screen on, with airplane mode on, and the battery dropped 50% in 7 hours. With absolutely no use. I'm lucky to get 7 hours during the day actually using the phone. Three display is always around 70% usage of the battery even though I have brights all the way down and always turn off the screen.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I use Ultimate Juice Defender and I take my phone off the charger at 6:30 a.m. and by 5:30 p.m. I am usually at 80-90%.
Not sure, you might just have a bad battery. I have been off the charger for almost 7 hours now (early day). I have been messaging (google talk and sms) had WiFi/BlueTooth/GPS running constantly I rarely turn them off.
Have been using google maps off and on for at least 20-30 minutes as well as voice. And about 45 minutes of phone calls.
For me:
Display 29%
Standby 26%
Idle 16%
android 12%
and then bluetooth, LauncherPro, OS and Google rounding out the remaining quantities.
Oh forgot and a solid 20 minutes of angry birds
i use a task killer but i allways set system apps to ignore except camera and google maps and autokill stuff like file explorer, root explorer, games and stuff.
I get up at 4am use my phone pretty often little of everything and can make it threw a day getting homr at 5pm might be 16-20% battery left but still good imo.
Removing bloat might help?
I went to lunch and played with the phone while waiting for the food. Just red some news and surfed the web a bit. Before lunch the battery was at 34% now its at 16%, I think there definitely is something wrong with my phone. I wonder if a different kernel would help.
Try resetting battery stats and reconditioning the battery. There's no way it should drop more than a handful of percent asleep in airplane mode... Maybe one per hour.
Sent from my Voodoo-powered Fascinate with XDA
How would I recondition the battery? I've reset the stats with a fresh battery before and have tried different kernels. I have two batteries and it's the same with both. I even took it to verizon but they said there was nothing wrong with it even though it dropped 30% on their test call.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I'd definitely say its just a bad battery. My fascinate stock destroys iphone battery life. With a UV kernal it at least doubles iphone battery life. My work issues iphones so I get a daily comparison.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S
I would say battery as well, my phone has been off the charger for 20 hours now and I'm at 50%. It's my work phone so its a stock kernel.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I was in your boat. The first fascinate I had would be unplugged at 6:30am and dead at 3pm with very little usage. I hated this phone. I got juice defender and it would last until 6 or 7 with very little usage, and as I used the phone I would watch as the battery rapidly ran dry. I got two other fascinates and it was the same issue. Then I got the one that I have now and it uses almost no power in standby. with juice defender and it being on idle, I can get almost 2 days out of 1 charge. I know it sounds ridiculous to you, with your experiences and it being a smartphone, but samsung has done some kind of magic here. Keep taking your phone back until you get one that uses very little battery on standby. Apparently there are a lot of units with bad batteries. As of this writing, with Ultimate Juice, my phone has been off the charger since 5:30 this morning, did some flashing, which uses the battery open throttle, installed 5 apps, played angry birds for about 35 mins and I am at 91% at 10:09
Well my 30 days are up, verizon found nothing wrong with it and I have 2 batteries.

Try a different big red CSR, and if you fail again, try bricking it in a fixable way after backing up. If you come in with a force close loop, I but they won't have any idea whats going on and you'll have a high likelihood of getting a new phone. If it fails, just reflash and try another tack.
Haha perfect.

I would honestly try one of the Stupidfast kernels if you really want bettery battery life, but honestly it sounds like some kind of hardware problem.
Stupidfast kernels really do give me better battery life. I was skeptical at first but after wiping the battery stats and rebooting after I unplug I've been getting GREAT battery life.
I'm a HEAVY user and I unplugged at 11 AM and 9 hours later I still have 31% left. With ANY other kernel, my phone would be at <20% by now, probably under 10%
I'm a believer, and will be donating come Wednesday when I get paid

Unique Battery problem

Sorry to start another thread on battery issues but I was unable to find a scenario like mine.
Hey everybody, Im new to the android scene, just got my vibrant less than a month ago. Before that I had an Iphone 3g. So far I like the phone but the battery life is horrible. When I surf the internet on wifi or 3g I noticed that I use like 3-5% in a matter of 5 mins. Is this normal? I consider myself to be a light-moderate user and have been getting and average of 12 hours or so on my vibrant. Also if it makes any difference when my phone is idle or being used my temperature runs around the high 80's low 90's but when being charged it drops to the low 80's or high 70's. What is going on? How can I get more 20 hours on my phone? With the iphone I used to get an easy 15 hours and still have like 40-50% remaining.

When I first got the vibrant, it had pretty bad battery life, I would lose like 25% while sleeping 8-10 hrs. So light usage would be like a day. Slowly I started to get longer battery life (2 days on light usage). Recently I could get up to like 3.5 days on real light usage. After updating to JI6, max I can get now is like 3 days. I didn't really do much and I tripled my battery life by just giving it time.
Thanks burntrat I guess ill be patient. And I must mention that I am running stock.i was just worried because my battery temperature gets colder when charging and warmer when idle or running.

Try this. Download the system panel app from the market. You can set it to monitor your system and it will chart what applications are running and how much they are using the cpu. If you find you have some unnecessary bloatware running in the background download titanium backup and freeze those apps.

There are a lot of different ways mentioned in different forums. Try this:
Let your battery drain all the way to the point when it turns off by itself.
Charge it while its off until its full.
Unplug it, turn the phone on, then plug it in again.
After it reaches 100, unplug the charger and turn your phone off.
Once off, plug it in and let the charging complete.
Once complete, unplug it and turn the phone on. When everything has loaded, turn the phone off (note: no charging involved in this step.)
After it turns off, charge it one last time until 100%. After this, go into recovery and clear battery info (or cache, I forget). There you go
Oh, and its better if you don't download too many apps that monitor battery usage, cpu etc. cuz they will contribute to the battery consumption.

It isn't a good idea to let your battery drain all the way to zero since it is lithium ion. I think skipping that part and just charging it when it's on to full, then off to full, then on to full, then off to full and then wiping battery stats would suffice. Also you need to have clockwork recovery to wipe battery stats.

When the phone turns off by itself, the battery still has some juice left in it to prevent it from losing the ability to charge, if that's what you meant by not a good idea cuz its lithium ion. If thats not what you meant, then please explain why.

Agreed. In my case, I barely lasted 12 hours on moderate use with any of the JI6 2.1 ROMS (Eugene's, Bionix, Fusion, etc). I think after I updated to 2.2, all of the ROMS have been giving me 18+ hours on moderate-heavy use no matter what modem or kernel I use.

[Q] Battery problems... still...

Ok so I know I've posted about my battery before but I still can't get any relief.. I'm running JT .9 and geekniks 12/19 kernel.. the past two nights my battery drained 30% over an 8 hour period, with no one touching it! During both these nights I turned off Auto-Sync, and yes GPS and WIFI are both off..
Just now I had my phone charging and it was at 47%.. I rebooted my phone (just my normal procedure about once a day) and when it came back up a few seconds later it was at 69%!!! What gives?!?! Anyone have any ideas??
I have tried re calibrating the battery by deleting the battery stats method.. I tried calling verizon to get the battery replaced but was told that my battery is acting normal.. ive tried different kernels with no noticiable difference.. if i take my phone off the charger at 100% and send just a few text messages it will be down to 95% within minutes.. im at a loss.. I'll post pics of my battery use screen in a bit but throughout the night i only went 1% without a signal.
Maybe try *228 Option 2 ..... ??
I had a bout of some wicked battery drain and it was because I needed to update my roaming.....

I've tried that too.. question about that though.. I live about 30 miles from where I work.. should I update my roaming where I live or where I work or does that even matter?
Thanks for the response!
I have the exact same problem. Battery will drain for no apparent reason. I even bought a brand new battery, with still no luck. When I reboot the phone, as you said, something it will jump up 20%. I finally got fed up charging 4 times a day and ordered a refurbished phone. I'll let you know how that one works out.

Please do.. Verizon give you the phone or did you just pay out of pocket?
Turn your 3G off overnight if you're not on the charger.
Wipe batt stats in CWM/advanced, charge until you get the full battery popup

I've tried wiping battery stats in CWM.. not sure how to turn off 3g.. Juice defender did it when I ran that but I didnt see an improvement and I didnt like the fact that it turned off 3g everytime my screen was off because then I don't get push on my emails.
Juice Defender has an on/off widget for 3G

although Juice Defender turns off your 3g when the screen is off, it also turns on your 3g for 1 minute every 15 minutes, so push notifications will be seen every 15 minutes (which I find totally acceptable to dramatically raise my battery life)
Just an fyi in case you didn't know.

yeah i was aware of that but i also didnt notice my battery life improve enough to use it.. if i would have noticed a dramatic improve i would have kept it.
At first I didn't notice an increase either, but after a day or 2. I get over 50% battery now
I just started charing my phone again.. it was at 70%.. i rebooted my phone and it jumped 14% to 84%... is it possible that the battery meter is just not accurate and when I reboot my phone it recalibrates everything and displays a true reading?
I can't remember where I read it, but I read that the phone doesn't portray an accurate reading. . If you charge to a hundred percent, the phone reduces the amount of power coming in but still shows full till removed from the charger, then it drops fast. Supposedly once it gets down to a certain percentage it starts charging again in bursts. This could explain why rebooting changes your percentage since the OS is showing the inaccurate reading.
I don't know if this is true or not, just something I read.
There's an excellent explanation of this here on xda. The thread is called "Your battery gauge is lying to you (and why that's not such a bad thing)" & I wish I could remember who wrote it so I could give him credit.

I called VZW's Customer Service and told them about my issues and they sent me a refurbished one. Just got it today, and so far, I'm having the exact same issues.
I am only here because a friend of mine is looking to get a Fascinate and I was doing some research for him.
I have an Evo, and I gotta say, you only lost 30% in 8 hours? Lucky you! The Evo, when it first came out would only last about 8 hours off the charger from a full charge, without touching it. The state of things now is a lot better. I can go 16 hours off the charger and still have 70-50% battery left depending on how much I used it.
The biggest changes have been custom undervolted kernels with HAVS, CPU underclocking with screen off, and "SBC" which probably just stands for super battery charge.
The SBC kernels for the Evo fix the issue of the battery dropping to about 87% minutes after taking it off the charger. It changes the charging behavior after full charge, maintains a trickle charge to hold battery voltage at 4.2v instead of burst charging intermittently once "full"
You guys might want to have your kernel developers look over here and probably see if some secrets can be passed along:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876590
There's a neverending cornucopia of battery improvements over in the Evo forum and I'd suggest you guys go make a search over there for "battery" because tons of the same fixes are going to apply here. Good luck

I had a lot of similiar issues with battery life, and I found different kernels and roms have a huge effect on the battery:
Every StupidFast kernel I tried would *significantly* increase battery drain over stock. I'm talking 4-5% per hour overnight with the phone idle and not being touched or doing anything whatsoever - no GPS, no Bluetooth, no WiFi, no apps running, just sitting there.
Every BlackHole ROM I tried would do pretty much the same, although not quite as drastic.
JT's SuperClean was consistently very good on the battery.
On DI01, I was using SuperClean .4 on the stock kernel and getting a solid 24 hours on a charge. With DJ05, there is no stock kernel, and I had issues with SuperClean and signal strength, so I'm using the 12/12 kernel with the stock rom (debloated) and I'm getting 72 hours on a charge with conservative use and easily 48 hours with moderate use.
If you're using StupidFast, I'd suggest flashing one of JT's kernels or stock (if you're still on DI01) and see what difference it makes.
I finally am getting decent battery life.. I did a clean wipe and installed black hole 2.4 with jt's 11/29 kernel and have noticed a great improvement! Only problem is I get the audio popping with this kernel but I'll live with that as long as my battery is better.

So I've gotten my second refurbished fascinate from Verizon, and my battery life is still atrocious. However, how much does signal strength affect battery life? I get a dismal signal at my house, where my battery seems to drain like crazy. Can anyone confirm the relation?

They are directly related. If your phone if constantly trying to find a signal then this will drain your battery. Are you rooted, or totally stock?

SyndicateROM Frozen (EB13) - Battery Life Thread

Hey guys,
Just created this thread so we could all have our battery life info in once place and keep the dev thread from getting cluttered.
Please post the following info:
1. Standard or Fully Loaded version
2. Total hours unplugged and percentage
3. Details (percentage and time) for each service
4. And any pertinent details such as apps used (juice defender), or extended batterys
Also, please don't forget to calibrate, airplane bug fix, and kill that drm.
Ex. (will edit with final time)
1. Loaded
2. Total - 8h50m @66%
3.
Display - 55m 78%
Cell standby - 8h50m 9%
Wifi - 6h40m 7%
Phone idle - 7h54m 4%
Voice - 1m 3%
4. Juice defender, setcpu @ 100/1000
Ideally we want to wait for a full drain to post stats but this is just an example. Thx guys looking forward to seeing what you all are getting.
Just installed it will get back to you in a couple of days after recalibrating my battery.
Btw, i hear Juice defender does more harm than good...

Hm I'll have to test with it on and off. I use it because I get spotty service in my house and don't want it searching for signal all the time.

Interesting. I think you are right, we are essentialy minimizing out idle drain to a certain extent. However, even activily using my phone it drans slower than stock with this rom. My next run ill try and use it all day to see what I get.

Battery drain
Hello everyone, noob here. I can't post in the development forum on this but it pertains to the battery and charge to a degree. Maybe someone here can help me in some sort of way.
I rooted and flashed the SyndicateROM Frozen yesterday, used it all day and never a hiccup. This thing is lightning fast and props to the dev's but here is the only issue I found. This morning after waking up I noticed the phone was stuck on the ACS android startup icon. I plugged in to charge last night and it's like it froze the phone when it reached full charge. Anyone else experience this?
Thanks for any help that I receive.

I think I read in the dev thread that it's a known problem with the kernel? Or maybe it was the rom... or CWM? anyways the dev's know about it. Just don't charge your phone when it's off.
Battery for me seems to be a lot better than stock, but I'm always charging here and there... today I'll let it run without charging for 4-5 hours and I'll report back. Using a lot of setCPU profiles.

Are you charging it with the power OFF? Lots of people were posting issues of freezing when charging with the battery off --- and I think the probs are related to CWM -- not the ROM. Only charge while the phone is on -- and you should not see problems.
I put on to charge with the power on last night because I had set the alarm to wake me up and it never did so that is when I noticed it. I don't think I've ever charged it with the power off, even when it was stock.
Maybe the dev's will come up with a fix sometime in the future. As for now, I'm happy as hell 'cause this ROM is great.

Did this just happen once? If it doesn't happen over and over, I wouldn't consider it a bug. I have only heard of issues like you describe with the power off.
I'm looking at 12 hours on ACS Frozen on average. I haven't even gotten close to the rumored 30 hours with "heavy use" I think my use has been moderate. My battery use log only only lists display 98% and cell standby 2%. This confuses me. I do more than sit there staring at my homescreen.

How you use your phone makes a difference and while 30h is possible, I don't see it happening with heavy use unless that is little display use. Below is my most recent "heavy use" run. Basically tried to use the phone all day, xda app, browsing, mainly wifi, 0% screen brightness.
1. Loaded
2. 8h7m @5%
3.
Display - 5h33m 95% <- serious display use which kills the phone quick
Wifi - 4h56m 2%
Cell standby - 8h7m 2%
Voice - 4m30s 2%
4. Setcpu @100/1000, juicedefender, 0% brightness
Pretty good considering the insane display usage. With normal use I get over 20h so that just shows how fast it kills your battery. Going to do an "extreme" run next to include heavy cpu use (play emulators all day haha).

You did that with a standard battery? I haven't seen anyone post more than 4 hours of display "time on". That's impressive. Maybe I should try 0% brightness. I have mine at 25%. Are you on "Conservative" on SetCPU?

The 98% means that 98% of your battery use is coming from the screen. Click on where is says 98% and look at see what the use details are (the "time on"). Generally, most people are getting less than 4 hours of display time on with a single charge. The explanation is that some people stretch 4 hours of display time over 30 hours of use. In other words, the people who are getting 30 hours of use only have their screen on 10 - 15% of the time (or less).

Yes, using the standard battery. Setcpu is on conservative. I always use 0% as it looks great (kick it up tp 25-50% outside). I think I was able to get that long of display use due to minimizing cpu usage and other services. All I did is browse in dolphin and use xda app. And, that was pretty much all on wifi. Only change was the hour I was at the dog park on 3g and I recorded a 5 min video.
I bet my gaming session tomorrow will kick it down to ~4 hours
With phone calls, texting, and music player, I average between 16-18hrs. If I start to web browse or watch videos then about 8-12hrs. Very impressed with this ROM to say the least.
1. Standard
2. 31 @ 5%
3. don't have that it was yesterday
4. standard battery, auto brightness, overclocked to 1.2, wifi on when I was at home and 3g at work.
I calibrated the day after froyo dropped. I didn't do the airplane thing and I thought drm was not in this rom. So in other words I didn't do any fancy stuff.
I will note today I tried 1ghz (which is undervolted) with 4G on all day (I have a repeter on my roof at work) and after 14.5 hours I am at 30% with about the same concistancy of usage as yesterday.
Edit: I only have 1 gmail syncing right now. We will see if I get these magical numbers when I put my other 2 gmail accounts and my 3 actice sync exchange accounts on Monday.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I'm getting mixed battery life. The first day on the rom/kernel I dropped down to 79% in 9 hours, with medium use (no web browsing). I was getting 1% drop every 1-2hrs, and thought it was amazing. Today I tried to be really conservative and didn't use it at all and it dropped 4-5% every hour WHILE IDLE.
Anyone else experiencing the same problem? It seems to happen after a reboot to be honest.
NOTE: If I disable data network mode, battery life is amazing,
I'm not sure about my battery life. I charge mine differently than the average person though. I charge it at work and leave it in my desk, because I use it a lot during my lunch break or whenever I get any downtime. When I get home it's usually at about 70%, and it remains unplugged until the next day. I used to have to charge it at home and at work.
