Unrevoked news? - Wildfire General

Considering how fast the Thunderbolt has been rooted, its led me to believe that no one is really working on a root for wildfire. I know it is a low end smartphone but surely someone can spare some time?
Or has anyone got some news from Unrevoked already?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire

True!!!!!!

Well, in fact Unrevoked already rooted the WF... Unless you mean getting S-OFF, which is something alpharev should be working on too.
Let's cross our collective fingers!

Is indeed strange for the Wildfire users, if that new securty is hacked within 3weeks why is this not possible on the wildfire with old security checks.

I'm talking about a 2.2.1 root. Especially seeing as all new wildfires will have 2.2 pre-installed.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire

the gf just got a wildfire 2.2.1, is there any one working on a root for this? would like to get cm7 on here.

There is no root for 2.2 at the moment. Unlikely to be for some time. At least til Unrevoked updates.

My guess is that nobody cares about the WF. Why no updates or anything? Not a word... I kick myself for accepting the OTA allthoug I didn't now about rooting or this site then.
I am looking at HW unlocking to get S-OFF permanently.
I'm looking in that direction to. Just have to find somone here in swe that does it.

Why should they even bother when their product will be used by ungrateful people like you.
SSDD.... We're all waiting here guys no need for drama.
Its just that as i said before, no news is not always good news... They could at least give out an update on their progress...
Either way not much we can do at the moment. Enjoy our stock ROMs

Ungreatful? What do we have to be
greatful of? All the information and statusupdates that they share on the progress? I can't understand why its so hard to just post a simple statusupdate of the progress if there is any or just tell ppl that the project is no longer alive. Just say something.

You dont have to be grateful of anything. No one is saying you to go ga-ga over them and pay them with your money and stuff like that. But, there is no reason to simply go and badmouth them, because, they are not obliged to release something for you. I will not be going into the "they have personal lives / it is their freetime project" and stuff like that, because it has already been explained by many others.
If they want to share a status update, they will,. If they dont feel like it, they wont. Don;t like that? Too bad there is nothing to do for end users like you and me. Just to remind you, this is the way the system works for all devices. I am yet to see some project where the dev gives out regular status updates. (I have an iOS Device, A Sony PS3 and many Nokia Symbian Devices, and, in all cases, when a project is ready to be released, it is released)
So just to reiterate, you don;t have to be grateful, but, there's no reason to go out and badmouth them, simply because it is unwarranted, and, they are not obliged to release something as I said previously.

What an ungrateful arrogant post.
So because you can't get root on your device your going to bad mouth the team at unrevoked because you feel they have not done enough to keep you informed of any progress they may or may not of made with Hboot for Wildfire.
Here's a couple of ideas for you:
If your that bothered about progress why not check out there IRC channel for news
Perhaps consider investing cash into XTC
Try learning Code/programming to crack Hboot (please remember to give us all ten minute updates of how it's going)
Or even better you could quit moaning and bad mouthing unrevoked as they are under no obligation what so ever to help you with a tool for gaining root access to your Wildfire.
This thread is too dramatical :S

I think the Wildfire is old. They don't do a root for this.
I think the Unrevoke now doing root with new version of HTC phone, so that they don't have time to do root with Wildfire.
That's mean, we never have a rooted Wildfire Froyo phone.

Rooting for Aria with factory updated Froyo 2.2

Is there any developer out the willing to take on this task?
Is any will to donate to get this development done? I know I do.
Please comment.
Thank you,
Techsican
UPDATE: 4/11/2011
As of my original post, there has been some interest on getting this issue resolved, by donation offerings and a developer has even offered his time on working on this issue for us.
Attn1 has offered his time to try to figure out the rooting issue with the Froyo update from HTC/AT&T due to the hboot lock.
All we need is for someone to offer up their phone with the latest Froyo update so we can send it to attn1 to see if he can get it to root. I see that a couple of you guys have offered their phones already. I will be contacting you guys to see if we can come up with plan on getting attn1 a phone. I might just use my son's phone if he is willing to part with it for a while.
Update 4/14/2011
Attn1 is going to find a work around out of the kindness of his heart and does not want any compensation. This is what I love about the Android community, there is alway someone willing to help out solve problems without asking for anything in return. Attn1, you might not want are money, but please except our Thanks!
Thank again and keep an eye out for updates.

I would be willing to donate. As much as I love my Aria, right now I've had it. AT&T really knows how to take a perfectly great phone and turn it to s#%* with all their crapware.
I just didn't realize I wouldn't be able to go back to being rooted.
You might try buying an Aria with 2.1 so you can root it and sell your 2.2. Should be within a few bucks of even money and you can get ability to root back.

Good idea,hehe!
Buying a new phone would be an excellent idea if it was in the budget.
I guess we all fell for to the old upgrade trap! I was hoping to get this resolved, so I could root and update my son's phone to a cleaner/leaner ROM, like CM7. I have a contract renewal in June, so I guess my son will just have to wait. Oh well! :/
Regrets
Regrets to all that have upgraded to Froyo 2.2 using RUU method. I am confident that with the brain trust of talented developers out there it won't be long before someone finds away to reverse the upgrade. Until then we wait and hope....

For your wife, throw Liberated Aria Froyo on her phone with either the stock kernel (provided in the Liberated Aria Froyo thread) or Gene Poole's hoxnet_004b kernel and call it a day. Liberated Aria Froyo is totally unbranded, meaning no logos and no crapware. Plus it keeps things familiar for her since it uses Sense.
I would be willing to donate aswell. My brother wants to root his phone but updated before he knew any better.

Could this work with any hboot to get s-off or is it 1.02 specific?

Worst case non-att uses a goldcard to update to the AT&T 2.2.2 RUU, then they are good to go. Of course, AT&T models won't need a goldcard.

WEEEE. Will be nice to get back into kernel hacking. I've been too lazy/cheap to S-OFF my aria, and WAAAAAAY too lazy to reflash boot to test kernels. Fastboot, here I come (eventually)
It's too good to be true!
Hope, the release will not be delayed too much.
This is some great news! I've gotten to the point, I check multiple times a day hoping for a solution. Any ideas on how soon it will be released?
Nope. Soon is all the alpharev guys will say. I know for fact they are hard at work preparing it for release.

Does this work for original 2.1 bootloaders? Or do we have to accept the update to 2.2 to use this exploit?

Official HTC Droid Incredible Gingerbread OTA

Well the HTC EVO 4G received their official OTA yesterday from sprint and we are scheduled to get it by the end of this month as well which means custom gingersense kernels will come soon after. Just putting this out there for people who want to know the news about the update and yes the OTA will break root.
Right on, which also means that the Unrevoked team will have to work on their root exploits AFTER the OTA to once again achieve root. Hopefully it won't be like the last OTA (or 2 OTA's ago?) where it broke root, and there were nothing but threads about not having it...you'd a thought people were going to die, and all they had to do was wait about a week or so.
My question is, can it put you S-ON? Because even the RUU can't do that. So even if you were on a stock rom, with S-OFF, and received the OTA, you could still root through CWM.

What does that mean for us that are rooted and running custom Rom's? If I were to just let it run the OTA with root and custom Rom? Would it just overwrite the whole phone with new update and replace everything on my phone with updated stock gingerbread/Rom? Or will I need to restore my stock Rom backup and then unroot the phone to s-on and then let it OTA?

yea that sucks
Sure, Sense 1.0 is kinda lame. But its probably for the best. It's definitely lighter on resources, and the phone manual would still apply. Not much of an issue since the Inc isn't shipping anymore. But the EVO is. So they might have had to rewrite some of the manual for sense 2.1. But I think it has more to do with available memory. All these gingersense roms are great, but they sure do use a lot more.

I don't care what people say about Sense 2.1 on the Inc. It's working great for me. The bottom line is that the Inc isn't being made anymore, so there is absolutely NO incentive for HTC to put 2.x Sense on it. If your Inc broke for instance, and you could get an official 2.x Sense'd phone, you'd be more likely to pick up a used Inc as opposed to a newer phone. I've had my Inc going on almost a year, and I can honestly say I don't really need to "upgrade" my phone. I typically upgrade to a newer phone every year..... If I last that long! I had my ATT Fuze (aka HTC Raphael, aka Touch Pro) for like 3 or 4 months before "upgrading". Bottom line is, the Inc is a great phone, it's capable of running Sense 2.x, but HTC wouldn't be doing themselves any good to go through the effort of putting it on the Inc since it's an EOL product.....

No they said by the end of Q2[which is the end of this month]
Does anyone know if the new Gingerbread with Sense running on the EVO has a better email client than the stock GB mail client (which bites)? I use SkyRaider 4 with Sense 2 on the Froyo platform, but MIUI on the GB platform with LauncherPro to make it as Sense-like as possible. Since the GB mail client neglected the 'Search' functionality, I had to buy the Enhanced Mail client (I'm and Exchange user), but there is no scrolling widget for this. A Sense-based GB rom with a Sense-based mail client would solve all my problems. Bottom line, has anyone seen the Sense Mail client on the new GB-based EVO?

root

Hey guys I'm coming from the HTC inspire to HTC evo. Over at the inspire forums they have a super one click option to take s off and root the device it was very simple with video instructions as well. What's the easiest way you guys have here to root the evo? I was looking at a thread but it has about 50 steps any other way around that? Is there a super one click option?
unfortunately... those of us with the OTA update are stuck with rootless EVO's...
the fortunate users had previously rooted their phones with a drag and drop i believe... (don't take my word on that, i joined the root sensation a little late... hence my rootless phone) but i think it was like 5 steps er so... it didn't look too bad and it was even easier for you if your on a linux platformed pc with unrevoked er sumthing like that...
either way the EVO is an outstanding phone and i stand by it, until something better comes out... (not the nexus s)
