I love my Evo, but not the fees... - EVO 4G General

I love it. I've had it since November and it's been great...Except that extra $10 I pay at the end of the month for a service I don't use, 4G.
I <3 my Evo 3G....
Will Sprint EVER come with a Premium Android phone or eventually drop the 4G cost?

That $10 fee is just going to become standard. If it hasn't already. For all 3G phones as well. 'Premiuim data / unlimited data' fee. You can sleep easy now ... or then.
blah blah effin blah

It is not a 4G fee. This has been covered time and time again.

Thanks to everyone that complained and everyone that takes advantage of the network, the fee is now for ALL smartphones enjoy.

Pull what out of a hat? The fee being for all smartphones? No, Sprint charges the $10 premium data charge for all smartphones.

WHO CARES.
Go to any other major provider and I guarentee you will pay more then $10 for their plan + data.
Be happy Sprint isn't att.

I am. Completely. I even came from a Sero plan to the new Sero Premium. It's not the service or the fees, indirectly, that I'm staying for, but the apps that Android has. I could easily switch to the HTC Arrive but I LOVE Google Nav. The same can be said about the Palm Pre 3.

Just sign up for the credit union discount depending on your plan it will nearly or totally offset the $10.

The $10 fee was added to all phone to have Sprint remain completely unlimited. The addition of Evo's/Epics/Shifts + abusers cause prices to go up.

i regularly look at other offerings, just to keep up with whats current. and No One, not Any Other carrier has the deal I get at sprint.
and what with the Evo, and the Epic, and the Pre (ok, haha), now the 3D, ect... the phone choices are as good (if not better) than anyone else.
LTE? sure, would be nice, i suppose, but I happen to live in an area that gets good 4G, so, damn, everything loads just quick as **** on my phone. quick enough for me, and I'm a snob.

I almost hope they raise it to $20 in hopes of making all the complaining *****es really go away.

get out off att contract

i want to end my contract with att but i dont want to pay 175 dollars is there a fool proof way to get out of my contract?
Actually I have a question here, too.
I'm eligible for upgrade next January. Does that mean I can get out of the contract by that time or do I still need to serve the full 2 years in their prison?
Are you on unlimited data? You could try to use an enormous amout of data... I don't know if this will work though, I have seen people's bill who have used 15-20gb's with no notice...
AT&T Fine Print said:

That's one reason I'm not hesitating on my data usage... I'm probably going to hit 10-12gb's this month and I don't tether at all, I wonder what I would use if I started tethering

No, having an upgrade doesnt mean you're out of contract. Unless your two years are up, you will still get an ETF. But at least its prorated.

I have heard that if you tell them you are leaving the country they will let you out of your contract without paying the ETF. Maybe tell them you or your family got a job in Europe or something.
you signed a contract, how about you honor it or pay the ETF like you said you would?
Sometimes I have heard that if you are moving to a new cellular company, you can convince them to pay the fee for you if you sign onto one of their contracts. Going from one contract to another, but if you wanted to switch to Verizon you might be able to get them to pay it for you.
(Notice: I have never done this nor know anyone who has tried it. I read it was possible online so results will vary. Also depends on who you are dealing with I assume)

From what I understand it's just a glitch. Why would they remove the 4G phones only and not the 3G phones? If anything it would be the other way around.
If thats the case they shouldn't be able to charge us for the new 3G 10.00 until contract expire or upgrade renew.
If they try it will be breach of contract adding additional cost thus many will be waving bye bye without paying early termination fee.

Someone probably commented out a line or two of code..
Being a sprint employee, i can assure you guys that the 10.00 "Premium data(this is the real name for it") feature is not going anywhere. 4g or not, it is here to stay. if you upgrade or swap to a phone that requires a data plan, its game over. The only people that it is waived for are large corporate accounts. individual liable customers (that's you guys) will have to pay it. It is either this, or cap your data...
Yup it appears the way but they said that all smarphones were going to lay for it so probably that's y, I ma wait another 10 days to see my new bill and see what's up

Correct, even if its an old phone that you already had that is now in that category, like the instinct, they charge you.

I've got two HTC Heros, LG Optimus S, and Samsung epic on my lines yet the fee only applies to the Epic. I think Sprint will charge $10 /month when I upgrade the other lines?
If the lines were already active on the phone when the fee was introduced, that line is not charged. But if you switched to a "dumbphone" then switched back to the same smartphone, you'd be charged.

Its just another sad attempt to charge people more money. They do not care about making customers happy. They just want to make as much money as possible, nothing else. But the sad part is most people will roll over and accept it.

More like getting shafted into eating the cost, or not having a phone. AT&T and Verizon charging ridiculous rates for data, T-Mobile compressing all of your images, Sprint's service being utterly horrible, MetroPCS with terrible phone choices and no 3G service in my area, and other issues. MVNOs either run on Sprint and suffer signal issues and slow data speeds, or run on AT&T and get small data caps (hi H2O wireless) or get throttled to 500kbps (Red Pocket, AT&T GoPhone).
In terms of speed and price, T-Mobile is still good, but why bother browsing if every web page looks like 1997 vomited all over it? The only thing missing is Geocities and an annoying midi file looping in the background. I don't understand how they think they're going to get away with severe image compression when 720x1280 is the new Android flagship standard resolution.
