Looks like both.
How can it be both? lol
And maybe some indie Sprint dealers will do the rebate for you. I bought my Hero from an independent dealer and the owner paid the rebate for me, so I only had to front the 200 bucks.

Isn't the upgrade price normally more at launch than signing up as a new customer? I have never bought a phone at launch. But for some reason I remember most phones being more for existing.

wow, but with no data how will you use it? wifi? or does it have a simcard slot?
He just means he's not committing to a year of service, so he's free to cancel and sell the phone at anytime. If Verizon offered contract-free pricing, I'd do this too but since they don't the one year price sounds like the best bargain.
Pre-Ordered mine...locked in for two though!
can someone explain what do you mean by full retail price?
I don't live in the states but I'm going for a visit next month,
can I buy the phone for the full retail price and that's all?

You want to chose the month to month option. This will allow you to purchase the phone at full retail price.
I pre-ordered mine through Best Buy. I like their warranty program better. It cost a little more, but there is no deductible. Just bring in broke phone, walk out with new.
Pre-ordered mine first thing on Monday morning. Switching over from the dreadful AT&T service.

Hi guys, I pre-ordered mine on the 19th but they still haven't charged my card. Should I have been charged or are they waiting till it ships to charge me? Has this happened to anyone else? I just want to make sure I'm not the only one.
Most stores when you preorder something, it won't come out til it ships. I just ordered mine last night, gonna go the route of not paying my whole bill for a few months, take a couple late charges.
Got my incredible today
well I pre ordered mine by phone and I already got it. They must of made a few errors but I have mine on the charger and getting ready to start it up for the first time....
Gratz man! I went in to the store to see when they would get it. 29th. I have it preordered at best buy but I'll go for whichever gets them first.

i want to end my contract with att but i dont want to pay 175 dollars is there a fool proof way to get out of my contract?
Actually I have a question here, too.
I'm eligible for upgrade next January. Does that mean I can get out of the contract by that time or do I still need to serve the full 2 years in their prison?
Are you on unlimited data? You could try to use an enormous amout of data... I don't know if this will work though, I have seen people's bill who have used 15-20gb's with no notice...
AT&T Fine Print said:

No, having an upgrade doesnt mean you're out of contract. Unless your two years are up, you will still get an ETF. But at least its prorated.

I have heard that if you tell them you are leaving the country they will let you out of your contract without paying the ETF. Maybe tell them you or your family got a job in Europe or something.
you signed a contract, how about you honor it or pay the ETF like you said you would?
Sometimes I have heard that if you are moving to a new cellular company, you can convince them to pay the fee for you if you sign onto one of their contracts. Going from one contract to another, but if you wanted to switch to Verizon you might be able to get them to pay it for you.
(Notice: I have never done this nor know anyone who has tried it. I read it was possible online so results will vary. Also depends on who you are dealing with I assume)

Will Sprint EVER come with a Premium Android phone or eventually drop the 4G cost?
That $10 fee is just going to become standard. If it hasn't already. For all 3G phones as well. 'Premiuim data / unlimited data' fee. You can sleep easy now ... or then.

Pull what out of a hat? The fee being for all smartphones? No, Sprint charges the $10 premium data charge for all smartphones.
WHO CARES.
Go to any other major provider and I guarentee you will pay more then $10 for their plan + data.
Be happy Sprint isn't att.
I am. Completely. I even came from a Sero plan to the new Sero Premium. It's not the service or the fees, indirectly, that I'm staying for, but the apps that Android has. I could easily switch to the HTC Arrive but I LOVE Google Nav. The same can be said about the Palm Pre 3.
Just sign up for the credit union discount depending on your plan it will nearly or totally offset the $10.

Correct, even if its an old phone that you already had that is now in that category, like the instinct, they charge you.
Sent from my perfect epic
I've got two HTC Heros, LG Optimus S, and Samsung epic on my lines yet the fee only applies to the Epic. I think Sprint will charge $10 /month when I upgrade the other lines?
If the lines were already active on the phone when the fee was introduced, that line is not charged. But if you switched to a "dumbphone" then switched back to the same smartphone, you'd be charged.

This has peaked my curiosity:

Having two Epics on my account, I could save over $50/month. (I'd have to terminate my contract, and then buy the new phone from the other company - but i'm guessing in a few months I'd start saving $)
I read on some other fourm that someguy was able tp cpnvince the clerck to waive the fee for a year

....and Sprint will waive the upgrade fee.
According to the email, it appears to be available through their website only. HOWEVER, I'm sure it can be haggled in their stores on the 24th.
If Best Buy agrees to honor their promo, I'm sold. The Buyback Program basically gives away the 3D for free (or @ a great discount if you didn't sign up for it @ the time and just trade in your phone w/ them for an $80 in-store credit).
Either way, this sounds promising...

17 mo? It's a 12mo wait if he's a Premier customer w/ 10 yrs + as a customer (or w/ a sufficient amount of gripes on his account).
And, just to reiterate, I called Sprint Cust Svc. and yes, us Shifters can get the 3D for $199, regardless of eligibility status. I spent no more than 10 min on the phone venting about poor 3G service, and was advised that they'd honor the advertised price to keep my business (12 yr customer, 9 mo until upgrade anniversary).
Footnotes: Shifters. Gripe. Get. 3D. $199. Minimal. Hassle.
Sweet, but just for clarification, is this something being offered or something that I would have to complain to get?
