Blue Tooth DRAIN Nonsense - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I've noticed all of the NAND roms have huge BT drain in standby unless they are a sense rom, what exactly is the cause of this?

Same here. I think the BT stack in non-Sense roms is not finished/buggy.
I'll look at the source but can't promise anything.

IT seems strange that the home screen application affects the BT stack... why doesnt someone just pinch that part from sense?

It's not just a home screen application.
Sense is very deeply integrated into Android.

Looks like this just got fixed here. you just have to wait for the kernel in your current to get updated.

Bluetooth fix isn't working properly
The bluetooth fix is not working properly. Pairing works only if you go into menu and click connect (and using it right away). So if you already paired a device before and you have it turned off, it will not connect. And an other con. is that your bt device is in standby then the same problem it won't connect or somthing.

Bluetooth Issues

Hi, sorry if this has been discussed somewhere else, but I haven't seen it.
I'm on my second M5k (the first one had serious radio issues), this one has bluetooth problems.
I've paired it with my Parrot car kit (which has always worked fine), but recently the car asks me to pair a device everytime its powered on. Likewise, I've just paired a BT GPS & it's connecting but not really seeing the device. In the BT manager, both devices now have a ? icon on the left rather than a headset etc.
Any ideas whats going on?
Thanks
Check on your outgoing port settings in bluetooth settings, if there is a tick in the secure connection, uncheck it and see if that works.
I had similar issue with bt gps reciever
Nope, not ticked.
On a side note, its been sat next to me for an hour with wifi on, connected to the pc & its just shut down with 52% battery left. When this thing doesnt wanna play, it really is the biggest waste of money i've ever had (course, for that 5 mins that it works properly its the greatest thing i've ever spent my money on).
sorry, thats the extent of my knowledge ... just a newbie
best of luck and keep the faith !
when i have a hard reset my paired devices disconfigured only

Bluetooth not staying on - same problem as Tracy and Matt Blog

My Xperia X1 is great. The keyboard is a refreshing change from the orbit 2/polaris.
Problem - Bluetooth does not stay switched on. This is most apparent when using my Parrot carkit because it does not automatically connect due to the bluetooth being switched off. I have looked through the settings to no avail. Any suggestions? Anyone else with similar problem?
Also the screen switches itself off at such short intervals - possibly to help battery life but it makes reading web pages frustrating at times.
The screen switching off can be changed or turned off in the phone settings.
Thanks for that. The bluetooth issue is real although it may only be on the branded uk ROMs. Anyone else with a similar problem - when I click bluetooth on it stays but as soon as you open up settings or programs the icon disappears (switches itself off). Any bright ideas?
Bluetooth just turns off...
I have the same problem.
The Bluetooth just turns off.
Its a real problem, and nothing i can find either talks about it... or in any setting.
Anyone know of a fix?
My friend at SE Sweden told me that a new FW will fix this. They know about the problem and are working on it.
RTFM - switch bluetooth on + soft reset device = bluetooth stays on.
Works for me

RTFM....
This does not fix the issue. Soft reset after enabling.
Again... I contacted SE... and was told.. "We are aware of this and it has been passed to developers to create a patch in the form of a CAB/flash that will become available on the SE website under support."
So... timescales... she said.. it won't be weeks as this is a new phone and any issues are taking priority.
Sit and wait... if you need it and use BT constant... Hold fire on buying one...

Well, that's weird since it fixed the issue for me... still, nice to hear SE's working on improvements.

Can you put what rom version yours is.?
Start /SEttings/device information/Version
and what SE asked from me...
Start /SEttings/device information/customer info
thanks
What works for me is switching off the wifi - my bluetooth has stayed on every since.
I installed the Touch HD TF3D and hey presto.. WIFI and Bluetooth work as wanted with no probs.
So... What does this package do?
any Bluetooth settings or power?
Hello,
i have a german rom ( 1.02.932.3 ) and i have the bluetooth issue too.
daniel
I think this is just a small bug in the SE BT stack. SE phones have an option to turn on BT for 10 minutes or so, maybe this setting was used in the first roms. I hope SE will fix this.
I've got a 02 SE X1 just out, I have the same issue, I can connect to my Parrot 3200and it works fine, get back in to my car sometime later and BT will not connect, 1st I tried switching off the phone, then resets, and finally which works, switching off the BT and back on again (although BT still shows as being on in Connection manager), after that I can finally get a BT connection to the car kit,
Is anyone getting the same problem ?? and is there a patch yet as its really frustrating to do this every other time,
Thanks Mark
Hi Mark I have a Parrot Bluetooth carkit (3200 the same as you). It is working and syncing beautifully with the X1i just as it did with my previous WM devices.
I dont go through the stages you mentioned anymore but bluetooth only stays on if the wifi is kept off.
Hope you get yours sorted.

Wifi is always off ? I've emailed SE tech support so it will be interesting to see what they say
Does anyone have a problem with the HBH-DS980 bluetooth headset?
On my X1, it only shows Wireless Headset and Hands-Free services. What about A2DP and AVRCP?
I never use wifi, but I still get this problem pretty regularly. It's the only thing keeping me from using the phone.
Also, has anyone else noticed a bug where the email signature you set will not be retained after a soft reset? It always reverts back to the stock Xperia sig.
I have a Xperia uk version and had the same experience, bt went off randomly. I installed Touch flo 3d and now works fine. Switching on and off WiFi has no influence on bt in my case. Also tried bt on + soft reset and still bt went off sometimes.
i have same problem
i have the same problem with the bluetooth, i cannot connect to my car kit (which is SE also by the way!). After contacting SE i was told to wait for the new firmware coming out on the site... this is so frustrating!! how can such an expensive phone have this silly problem??

which ROM do you have?
Do you happen to have BigMike bluetooth running?
standy..you mean you press the power button and the screen goes off, right? And then it turns on by itself? Did you check if your bluetooth is on? Because I experienced this too before, if I left the bluetooth on and I turn off (stand by) the BA after a while it will turn on itself. Hope this helps. Cheers.
Try going through your power management under settings.
You might have tick a few things there.
I was getting this trouble too!
As Resident evil... on nights my device wakes up and begins screaming STARS!!!!
I just call Claire redfield and Alice and they burn on its head! PUMMM!
jajajaj
Well... check out your settings if you have a program runing under... and it needs conections via BT, Wi-fi or GPRS... your device gonna wakes up trying to get conection all the ways it can... if nothing is runing behind maybe was a bad flash... reflash it...
Hope all we can help you...
We are like a squadron supporting forces... Huh im playing too much Acecombat 5....
It could either be Bluetooth running and also it could be some appointment/message turning your device on. Also, do you have your device cradled? ActiveSync (if connected to PC) will turn your device on to sync.
Hope this helps

There is no fix. Since WM5, the BT driver requires that it be turned on periodically or else it turns itself off. All ROM cookers (AFAIK) use the big mike fix driver to keep the BT alive.

I read somewhere that if you installed another BT stack that eventually it would solve the problem? Is this true?
ok there is fix but i do not advice you to use it if you use BT handsfree - because with original driver BT turns off when device get in standby and this one keeps it working
you can install S2U2 and set:
Lock when device wakes up: ON
Power Off in: 5s (this is the minimum).
this is not a solution, but more like a workaround...this works for me well...

[Q] Bluetooth issues with Froyo

So I flashed to a froyo ROM over the weekend and have found someone posted a fix for the gps issues, but I'm having BT issues as well. Has anyone else experienced this: I can pair certain BT accessories but not others, and even when paired the devices cannot connect without multiple connection requests.
My specific issue is that I have motorola rockr bt earbuds, and a Jabra car kit, and they both pair with the phone (after a few trys) but neither will automatically connect to the phone once they're turned on. With the earbuds I have to manually try to connect 6 or 7 times in a row before they'll connect, and even then they may only connect with the phone audio only. This wasn't an issue with the stock ROM so I'm assuming its the bt radio library for Froyo thats the problem?
I'm not new to development, but I'm kinda new to development on Android. I've been trying to learn more about the radios and how they're configured within the OS but I haven't found a lot of good documentation on it. I'd be happy to work this out for myself and post any improved radio to the forum but it would be helpful if someone could send me a link to some learning material? If someone has an improved Epic Froyo BT radio to flash that would be helpful as well
yes bluetooth issues as well, but different in that only when i turn bluetooth on it foreclose's. the bluetooth is otherwise not affeceted. only on the initial start up.
I've been having issues as well, but also mine a different. If I walk away from my phone and it get disconnected I manually need to re-establish the connect. Also sometimes the A2DP stops working requiring a reboot. And I've NEVER been able to get Bluetooth voice dialing to work on Froyo for the Epic. I had 2.2 running on my Hero before I switched phones and it worked great.
I am in no way a developer, but I do prowl this site everyday, so unfortunately I can't help with fixing it. More power to you and I hope you (or somebody) gets it worked out!

I had the Hero before the Epic as well and but I never tried 2.2 on it. I had BT issues with the Hero, but I didn't bother too much with it.
I had the same BT issues with the stock ROM when walking away, having to reconnect after coming back. Voice dialing never worked with BT either. I was hoping for an improvement with the upgrade, but I'd settle for what it was before. I'll start tinkering but I'm not sure what I'm doing with the radios....I'm a developer, but not an Android developer.

I noticed that too with the stock 2.1. However, Bluetooth voice dialing is a feature built into 2.2. I've read that some people having it work great, but other's like myself, are not having it work at all. Oh well. I'll live for now. Hopefully if it isn't fixed beforehand then it'll be fixed with the "official" release. LOL.
now that you mention it, i had this problem too doing some bluetooth file transfers between my buddy and I's phones last night. it struggled to connect multiple times but after the first successful transfer it seemed to stop having problems for a little. I'm moving back to 2.1 until we get some non-beta custom roms for froyo because i use bluetooth and gps everyday. just out of curiosity though, for those who are having problems, which rom and modem are you using?
I put the DI18 modern on there and that has seemed to fix the gps more or less. I think I'm going to go back as well. Maybe I didn't flush data enough times but layar can't find the camera, neither can the bar code scanner...it's close, but Froyo just isn't ready for the Epic yet.

Still having Bluetooth problems with official Froyo release on Epic 4G
I was also having glitchy issues with BT oo my Epic running the leaked build of Froyo. I ended up flashing back to 2.1. The problem I was having was when I turned on my Motorola Finity, it worked fine.. for one call...) Then it wouldn't work again unless I turned the headset off and back on again. To make matters worse, after using BT one time, All sounds including ringers and media, came out of the earpiece instead of the actual ringer/speaker on the back of the phone.. Strange, huh? I had to reboot the phone to make it normal agian. Now to my surprise, after installing the newly released official Froyo build, I am having the same problem. Is anyone else having an issue like this with the official software? I am going to try the headset on another Epic at work, maybe its just a compatibility issue with my particular headset, but its very strange...
I am using the new official Froyo release from Samsung/Sprint. having the same buggy issues I had with the old leaked version.

I can confirm these issues still exist in the official release.
I'm having the same problem, but when I use bluetooth in my car, it insists on transmitting sounds to my car's bluetooth, even when I repeatedly uncheck Use for media audio. I don't have an option in my car to disable A2DP. My only complaint with Eclair, other than speed (I'm using Bonsai4All, and previously, Syndicate) was that I was running out of space for software (was using EpicExperience). Sometimes, bluetooth won't connect at all, necessitating a phone reboot, or going into airplane moe and then back out. So I'm gathering that this is across the board, regardless of Froyo build? Syndicate didn't work at all with my car.

Bluetooth (A2DP?) problems: delayed / cut off notifications during navigation

Hello!
I have a problem with delayed and cut off notifications over my bluetooth hands free device (Parrot MKi 9200). I can experience it on almost every ROM despite ROMs with Tytung's kernels.
Everytime my copilot live 8 says something like "In 500 meters turn left" it takes a little while (maybe one second) for the phone to establish the bluetooth connection to my handsfree device and all i can hear is "..eters turn left". The only ROMs without this issue are those using Tytyng's kernels. They work just perfect. And yes, I know the workarounds like letting the phone play music all the time, but this doesn't work for me, for i listen a lot to the radio or use the SD Card in my Parrot for playing music - so this is not a solution for me.
I tried to find out more about this issue, but all i could figure out was, that this seems to be an android problem. Due to power saving issues Android would close the A2DP connection and reestablish it, once there is a signal comming up. Please correct me if I am wrong on this one.
However, since Tytung figured out, how to get this thing done right it must be also possible on other kernels and smartphones. Is there a way, maybe to change some settings or a working app or some kind of bluetooth drivers, to solve this issue on other ROMs or even other android phones?
Thank you in advance for your help
Don't know of any app, but just by playing blank.mp3 in music player could help you(it holds bluetooth audio connection-stays on all the time)
your sound cuts are because of low power bluetooth mode, try asking kernel dev to disable it?
I have the same problem and it would be nice to have a buffer application which buffers sounds for Bluetooth for a second and transmit them when the connection is active.
Sure it's an old thread... but has anyone tried this?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.turboled.enhancedtts
Should at least fix the problem for the navigation commands...
Thanks, will try it
