I'm having a font issues with the imate JAMin and I was wondering if anyone could help me. When I'm using IE mobile, a lot of pages display their characters as nothing but boxes. Most pages made for mobile display work fine, for instance Google mobile, but others, like CNN.com, won't display. I have no issues other than when I'm using IE.
I'm not quite sure, but it sounds like a problem with the codepage (is that te name? ) .... Character Encoding is the keyword, at least on a PC/MAC whatever... I just have my old Samsung phone at the moment, so i dont know, how to fix it, but try looking in a "View" Menue in IE Mobile, there select Character Encoding and set it to something like unversal or try ISO-8859-1 or UTF-8 enoding!
cheers & enjoy!
Chinese Characters
I have a similar problem, but with Chinese characters.
I can only see small squares, from Explorer to SMS.
No use to change the encoding in Explorer. It doesn't work.
Interesting it used to show the characters perfectly.
I appreciate any help.

Fails on HTC Touch HD with Opera
On my HD, any menu item in Pocket Wikipedia launches the link in Opera, which is unable to process any further clicked links.
It seems PW launches the default browser, where it should really stick to embedding an IE control. Any PW links should trigger a decompression of the topic from the huge file, which doesn't happen with Opera.
Does anyone know of a workaround?
Same problem here. It starts Opera Mobile instead of IE.
I tried making Opera Mobile the NON-default browser (by unchecking the "set default browser" box in the setting menu). PW was able to launch IE but IE just got stuck with the screen helplessly blinking. No Wiki text! No messages whatsoever! Had to shut down IE manually.
Wonder if Anyone could get PW working.
There is big problems with special chars like é, à, î, etc...
I shifted to WikiPock, far better despite a little cost.. Works like a charm
Ok i give up. I have searched for a solution on how to add other languages to picsel browser (other than english) but can't find anything. someone posted he found a way to use hebrew but it's not even close to working.
i also emailed the picsel management team and they told me there aren't any language packs available for the program.
also, adding fonts to the fonts folder doesn't help... only for specific webpages.
PDF's and other webpages are jibbrish.
now as this is a development section.. i'm sure that Picsel would be thankful moneywise to anyone who developes language packs for them... so maybe someone should... i of course... will buy the language pack (if it supports hebrew ) from whoever creates it.
Thank you.
I gave up long ago...
But I will tell what little information I know pertaining to this:
The Palm version of Picsel does have language packs (the one I saw was for Chinese/Japanese), but I was not able to make it work with the PPC version.
Some years ago, there is (or was) a version of Picsel made for Japanese use, but I have never been able to find this. It was preinstalled on Musea PocketPCs from the Japanese mobile provider Docomo. Some screenshots are attached.
I find it unlikely that it is impossible to select different language packs for Picsel browser because it does have the option. However, I believe Picsel is pretty much an abandoned project, so it could prove impossible to make these language packs.
Perhaps I am just pessimistic.
the selection of encoding doesn't mean much eventually... and from what i know.. picsel are working full time.. they're implementing the browser and other software into company PPC's as a built in browser instead of internet explorer... some hightech companies in israel are using it.
japanese/chinese wouldn't help me but thanks
where does it have the option?
Hello guys, there are a lot of questions about wp7 additional fonts support. Btw, a lot of people can't browse their own language websites to read anything on their language. The main issue is that instead of fonts, in the browser appears just empty boxes. We face such problems especially in utf-8 scenario. For instance my language Georgian font could not be shown by the system and os doesn't supports yet. What do you think about solution, have u any ideas how to add Georgian fonts to os and it worked, I mean that it was shown, when I am browsing on Georgian (utf-8) websites.
Hi,
First, sorry if this question has already been asked ! I've searched but couldn't find a similar thread. (Sorry for my noobism and my English mistakes as well !)
I have a kind of problem with online images display.
I often open in my browser (so far on my desktop computer), "large" images (wallpapers for all resolutions, weighing not over 2.5Mo), that I need to visualize not resized. When I reproduce this on my brand new TF101, here is what happens, depending on the browser :
- Stock Browser : the image is automatically downloaded, I can't open it in the browser itself
- Firefox : the image opens in a new tab correctly, but resized to my resolution, and when I double-tap the size increases over 100%
- Dolphin HD & Opera Mini : some images open the same way as in firefox, others are downloaded the same way as with the stock browser, and I didn't find a pattern in this behavior...
So I'm looking for a browser or a setting that would allow me to view non-resized images in a new tab. I didn't suspect it would get so difficult !
Thanks in advance !

Opera mini is the wrong one for you: since it compress the data, the images will be always sub optimal. Try Opera mobile
