Hey xda,
Do you think the wifi only xoom will have better battery life because it doesn't have a 3g radio?

This thread has already been made.
If you're using 3G, the battery life will be nearly the same as using just WiFi. The only reason the 3G would have noticeably worse battery life is if you leave both 3G and WiFi on at the same time.

So I finally gave up waiting on Motorola and switched my UK Wifi to the US rom. I unlocked, flashed the relevant images and did not relock; then got the OTAs for 3.1 and 3.2. Everything seemed fine but now I've noticed the battery is dropping significantly quicker now with the same usage. I've also checked the battery usage and noticed that there is no "Tablet Idle" entry, so does that mean its constantly staying awake? And does anyone know how to fix it?

my battery life improved with 3.2
I did exactly the same, install the stock US rom on my non-US xoom and update to 3.1 then 3.2, and I noticed the same battery life drop.
I noticed that my Xoom was staying awake pretty much the whole time the screen was off so tried uninstalling a few apps and sure enough that solved it. If you have the CNN app then try removing that for starters

Better battery life vipertouch or Yoshi?
Why don't you try them both and see? What one person has in battery life is not what another will have. A variety of factors play into it...or maybe you honestly don't care and just enjoy cluttering the forum with useless threads. This is at least the third I've seen of yours.

I personally had the same battery life on both Roms. The only difference I noticed was that on ViperTouch, my GPS would not work. However, as previously stated, you would need to try it for yourself as my experience may not be yours.
GPS working inn it you just have to download a fix from the play store. And vipertouch Rom is better on battery usage

That was my personal experience with the two roms. I got almost identical battery use. Also for the GPS I tried the fix, it failed to resolve the issue. Though since that I have noticed on other ROMs that changing the I/O scheduler from noop to BFQ resolves the issue.
Both were the same for me as well.

Great luck with Toasted Marshmallow by Awesome.
Glacier_One_v2.0 has been pretty great for me so far....
Well you have to remember that it's not just the rom, the kernel the rom uses also plays a big role in battery life. Also using apps like Juice Defender, etc. can affect battery life statistics being reported by other users.

IMO Juice defender sucks and so does most of those battery saver apps. They cause more problems than they are worth get a good battery like an anker and don't run a ****load of apps and try official cm7 or try applying governors like smartassv2 or similar that adjust itself while sleeping or maybe an app like setcpu and setup some profiles thats like i said IMO...Good Day!!!

Naa. Glacier one is a sense rom, and I have always had better battery life on a aosp rom than a sense rom.

Should have tried v1.3. You would have been amazed at the battery life.

Just show you know, battery calibration is a placebo. It's a waste of time. Just flash at 100% and call it good.

Someone have a link for the v1.3 please, can only find v2.0
Thanks!
CM 7 with darkside kernel aosp by derek jay gets me wicked good battery life. I can easily get 2 days on lite use or 24 hours on heavy use. I don't play games just browse make calls and text a lot. I would go to another rom but I need stability and working wifi calling. No matter how hard I try I can't say no to my MyTouch 4G. Already replaced a cracked screen and now replacing the keypad for a broken and now missing home key.
try vipertouch, its not bad with battery life and maybe you will like it
Hi guys. My Galaxy S4 is draining too much battery when 4G is enabled.
It runs warm 100% of the time and it drains 10% every hour on idle and even more when I start using it.
Once I disable 4G and let it only on 3G the phone goes back to normal temperature.
It drains only 0.5% every hour on idle and lasts for a day with 4h 30min screen time. I can't do that with 4G enabled.
I tried stock ROM, Cyanogen, Google Edition. They all have the same problem.
I would really like to enjoy my 4G 100% of the time but at this rate it's impossible.
Does anyone have the same problem or is it a hardware fault?
Thanks in advance for the help;

My 4G signal is very strong most of the times and I get 80mbps of download easily.
I just wish I could use it without draining too much battery.
Actually, what bothers me the most is that it drains a lot when idle which it shouldn't.
Do you have sync on? if u have a lot of apps syncing maybe that can happen ... tbh even on wifi with sync on u get increased battery drain evenwith just google apps syncing let alone in 4g which is already power consuming as it seems ...
Had the same problem in Germany. It's caused by 4G, fallbacks to 2G if you call somebody and by the search for other cells by the Galaxy S4. I also switched to 3G and have an awesome battery time.

My experience is quite the opposite. With 4g on, standby time is amazing. 1% in 2-3 hours. Same as with the S3 4g which I use as a second phone.
Before I got a 4g phone I was really worried because I read that 4g uses more battery than 3g, but for me had been the opposite.
Maybe try a factory reset or flash another rom. 10% is way too much.

Using Ripper rom + Perseus kernel on the S3 4g and stock but rooted and some mods on the S4. Signal strength also plays a big part but still, 10% an hour is too much.
