I am using the Bell Atrix on Fido and timestamps show correctly on sent sms, however when i receive a msg, it is 4 hours behind. I know other android phones used to have this issue (evo 4g, etc) but I dont think anybody ever mentioned it for the Atrix. Similar issue anyone? if it is just me, then i can still exchange it.
Thanks
A friend of mine had this exact same issue with a Bell Vibrant on the Rogers network. He ignored the issue and used a different SMS app, Handcent or something, and the problem never showed up again.

There is an issue with Fido/Rogers (on non-Fido/Rogers branded phones) that shows this issue. Using a different SMS app will not fix the issue as this seems to be an issue with the Fido/Rogers network offsetting the time incorrectly - the Fido/Rogers branded phones have a fix built in.
To fix this on your Atrix, you need to install the app called SMS Time Fix. You can set the offset and it'll fix the timestamps for you.

btw you will find that using the offset does not work as well as setting incoming messages by the time determined by the phone.
trust me, after using it for 3 different handsets, this is the best way to do it.
I fixed it by changing my time zone and setting my own clock rather than using network time.

Wouldn't you get an incorrect time stamp in certain cases? i.e. This would set the timestamp of the SMS to the time received by your phone and not the network?
If your phone was turned off and someone sent you a SMS, when you turned the phone back on you would get the SMS timestamp to be the time you turned the phone one and not the actual time of receipt by the network.
I know my example is an edge case, but I'd rather use SMS Time Fix and get the real timestamp rather than the timestamp set by the phone.

Yup that is what I did was playing around with the app until I got the right time on the sent message.

I had the same issue from the day i picked it up on launch day (unclocked on Fido). I used the SMS fix app off the market and works fine. But sometimes i accidentally close the app using app killer.
Ill try the clock fix mentioned above (custom clock vs network time).

Which app are you using? Is there any options in the stock messaging program that let you offset the time stamp or do you need to use an outside app to do it?

Maybe there is something odd with WiFi, but I use WiFi daily and have no issues... sorry man.
I had a problem yesterday, I was in a bestbuy and i took a picture of the touch pad to show my wife. I sent it then called her on the home phone asked if she received it. After about 4 minutes it showed up as the download button but would never download from the server. I wonder if there was a server side error yesterday?
I have this problem with this phone and two previous android phones. sometimes it takes forever, sometimes it is quick. I have written off to a T-Mobile network issue, though who knows.

I had the SMS issue, but someone on here pointed me to SMS Time Fix in the market which fixed it. It's a Rogers issue.
I am also getting Pay Phones (a call from Bell, and a call from Purolator). Maybe they throw in Pay Phone if it's unknown or blocked?

I had the same issue with Rogers, there are two ways of solving it:
1) If you have an iPhone Value Pack, change it to a Generic Smartphone Value Pack.
2) If you have Name Display + Call Display, get rid of Name Display.
That should fix it.
SMS, I haven't figured out yet.
See the following thread for more information about why you get "Payphone" displayed all the time.
Pay Phone being displayed when receiving calls
As for the SMS issue, that is a Rogers/Fido problem wherein the SMS time stamp is offset by 4 or 5 hours. This is an issue when you use a non-Rogers phone as it will not have the fix for the offset.
Download SMS Time Fix from the market and set the offset correctly and it'll show the time stamp correctly!
Thanks a bunch guys, you were right on everything! Why is it that Rogers has this SMS delay? Btw, if I kill the SMS time-fix app, does it still do the job? Does it eat up too much space?

The Pay Phone on call display has been covered, but to sum it up it's an issue related to the fact that Rogers has NAME and number for call display, so when the name info comes across the phone, it doesn't understand so it simply displays Pay Phone instead of the number calling. Getting name display excluded from your package fixes the issue and call display works normally.

I don't know, but I'm guessing it has something to do with UTC timezone and their network.

The SMS Time Fix app by Matthew Precious is very small and uses almost no resources. If you kill the app it won't be running, so it can't fix the timestamp of messages when they arrive.

I was considering cancelling name display but at the same time an update from motorola could be rolling out sooner than later, and I'd hate to mess around with my account for nothing
So i looked around for a bit on here for MMS problems, and i couldn't find anything. When i was running WinMO 6.5 i could send MMS just fine. My friend rooted my phone with Android, and now when i send MMS it just says sending...
and never sends the message. I sent something last night, and when i woke up it still said sending...
Is there a fix for this? i do have MMS service enabled though T-mobile, and i can receive picture messages just fine. I was using stock app for the messaging, but then i though, hmm, i saw one on the market. so i used Handcent and the same problem occurred. Help would be greatly appreciated
edit; now i asked a friend to send me an MMS, and it says downloading and never downloads either!
I also have the same problem. But if you wonna receive the pictures just turn your mobile data on and then go to mms and click download. It should work but this doesn't seem to work with sending the MMS.
Same here, just need to know that modules work together with the mms.apk
Check and see if the data is enabled. That may be a solution.
The thing is I don't have data so I have it off at aall times
Edit: just turned on data for the Lulz to see If it would work, nothin :/

Hi,
Hope someone can help, I am running the Offical EE03 posted by k0nane and so far love the rom but running into a couple of errors and wondered if anyone had any thoughts
First problem and maybe the only important one, if i get a voicemail my phone does not notify me nor does any show up in the Voicemail app. Only way is to check the voicemail manually but sometimes i don't realize that I have a voicemail for days, even weeks. If anyone knows a way to initialize it I would be appriciative.
Other problem I have found but not nearly as pressing is I can't be heard if I use speakerphone or a headset with a mic, I can however use just regular ear buds leave phone in lap and they can hear me just fine
Why don't you update to ef02? That may help. You are still using the first GB leak.

through a bit of googling it appears to be related to using a non stock messaging app. I'm surprised more people aren't reporting it. It caused some major problems at work today for me.
Apparently Go Sms Pro has a toggle to make it only handle incoming messages but it's not where it's supposed to be (Settings-Receive Settings).
Using stock Samsprint bubble mms and no go. /shrug
Didn't know mms app handled the activation voice mail response.
If I get some time will test the aosp mms app. See if that makes a diff.

Hmm, yeah I'm on Bonsai EC05. This has to have something to do on Sprint's side.
Ok, for a few users it appears to be related to new settings in Handcent and Go SMS
http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/305100#305100
For Go SMS users the July 1 update has a setting that automatically disables the notifications in the default messaging app. You can find it under "Receive Settings"
After you've disabled it try composing a voicemail to yourself and all the remaining ones should download.
Those on stock, I'm still not sure what's causing it but maybe try composing a voicemail to yourself and see if that fixes it?
I have a Nexus 4 (bought from Google) with the stock ROM and it's up to date running 4.2.2 on T-Mobile USA. I've tried reading up on the problems that others are having with their Nexus 4 and MMS and no one seems to be having the exact problem that I am having. I always turn my data off so I conserve battery power, it has never given me problems with other phones in terms of receiving/sending MMS messages, data would come on briefly when receiving/sending an MMS with other phones, but the Nexus 4 doesn't do that automatically. When data is on I receive them fine it seems. For a while I didn't know why I wasn't getting MMS messages. Then I installed LightFlow lite for the LED notification colors, I gave MMS messages and SMS messages different LED notification colors. Then I would get notified only by the LED notifier when an MMS was coming through, but I still wouldn't get the message, nor was there an audible notification. Sometimes I am able to turn on my data before opening the messaging app (stock one) after I notice the MMS LED notifier blinking. Other times they will come through the next day when I turn the data on, and sometimes I never get them. This is the only phone that has done this, my Android HD2, Sensation, and other phones haven't given me any problems, whether I had the stock ROM or changed it out. The problem seems to lie in how the data from the cell tower doesn't get turned on by the messaging app when the MMS is being sent/received. If I knew how to enable the messaging app to be able to do that, then I wouldn't have that problem. I have also tried using the facebook messenger/SMS app and I think goSMS, I don't remember either one helping the situation.
Please don't respond with "well turn your data on" or "this isn't a problem because you have your data off, so you don't receive MMSs". I'm used to my other phones turning the data on when an MMS is coming through. This one does not, I like being able to stretch my battery life.
Can this be alleviated by changing out my ROM? I'm wanting to swap ROMs anyway, so I've been researching which ones I would like to switch to. The other reason I want to change ROMs is I'm having problems with other stock apps that I can't uninstall and reinstall, like google maps always says my GPS is turned off when GPS and data are both on. I can use the mapquest app fine without getting the GPS error, it's something with google maps.

My "auto retrieve" is selected, and always has been to my knowledge. My problem is the MMS not getting sent or received when I have my data turned off. The messenger app isn't turning on the data to allow it to be sent/received.

Yeah, my plan is 200 MBs a month. I selected that, I don't need more. I only check email, facebook, forums, and do google searches from the phone, and the occasional directions. It never goes over 50 MB, unless a few apps start hogging data (geico brostache app for example). It's either ads or geico is collecting data about my location/driving. I have to kill it with my app killer after I use it because it will go over my 200MB limit after a few days.
Yeah I use AFwall donate. You can set it up to allow apps to only use Wifi or cell data, none or both.
