Dear Community,
we are a software company based in Austria, Europe and are working on a interesting project together with Samsung.
Although we are specialized on mobile software development and we are not so skilled when it comes to ROM development. So we are searching an expert which can master the following challenge. This development will be paid and we are expecting your proposals.
The Goal:
Customers will be provided with a Tab, which has our custom made software pre installed. The pads have to be resettet often, to delete all personal data and software from the customer. This has to be done as easy and fast as possible, so we are planning to Resetit each time after a customer retourns the pad. Although there are some special requirements so see
The Challenge:
- Custom Rom Development, which has our Software pre Installed in system/app. (Long time goal is to get a easy to use framework, where we can choose, which applications shall be included and which bakes the rom after that)
- Remove /system/app/PhoneConfiguration.apk or so, which provides the setup steps after resetting the custom rom (Calibration, Language etc.)
- Enabling the Widget and placing it on "desktop" per default, which is included in our mobile app.
- Autorun our software after reset

Hey there,
a friend and me made a homepage for those of you who do not understand all those Tutorials. We are making Video-Tutorials, where everything is explained step by step from scratch (in german).
Watching a video is much easier than reading a tutorial, since you can directly replicate what the tutor does.
The site is not very widescaled yet, since we have just started this project, but hopefully it will expand in near future.
You can find us at: http://lachaffe-mobile.eu/
Our Youtube-Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/LachaffeMobile
Since we have limited the project to the German language, we will neither give support on xda, nor on Youtube. Only at http://lachaffe-mobile.eu/ itself.
Best Regards
Gute Arbeit ,werde weiter verfolgen, wie es sich entwickelt
Nice work, will follow how it would develope
Wow... that's very great..!! We will give your site link for the noob who don't understand the tutorial given in xda hd2 band development

Hi,
It is not allowed to post here in the languages other than English. So please first write in English then Turkish under it.
I support this topic since there is no actual global company in our counrty. For example Samsung Turkey is actually an independent Turkish company who has permissions to use Samsung's name and buys devices from Samsung. Just like a tech market whose name is very very similar to Samsung with its own after sale services.so they are not really related to Original Samsung. Fortunately it has an agreement with the real Samsung so if they really fail on providing services we can still write to Samsung and they can give warnings to Samsung Turkey.
But here is how it works in my country: first you go to the service with a broken phone and then they take it for repairing and tell you nothing unless you call and ask for a 100 times a day and get your phone aswered if you are lucky. According to the law they have only 20 work days to either repair or replace the device but they always tell you that law is not valid when the phone needs to be replaced even if you go there with a paper printed the law in your hands. Therefore they blame Samsung for holding them for waiting the new device and they add it could take a couple of months. So you find yourself either trying to find some high rank employee there to speed things up (because this is how things work in my country shame on us ) or threatining the guys by telling them you will be waiting just outside of the service senter where the street cameras are not present when their shift is over with a couple of guys with beysball bats..
One least used method is to use public press by writing to the right places, making complains to the right departments and gathering together with people who got this attitude from Samsung Turkey. Once we are crowded enough and it is about to come to the press then they start to remember they have to obey the law "suddenly"..
And I believe this topic could save us from using the first 2 methods.

Hey lovely community !
so guys after the "fight" in the [DEV] thread about developing CM 10.x ...
The thread got closed ! So whats now ?
Will shaaaaan or any other DEV's going on working on this or not ?
I hope you get the the things in the right way ... :highfive:
LOVE YOU <3
Let's forget about CM for a while. Shaan from the first time is speaking for his Samsung Galaxy S Advance and he's got some problem too. Even if he success build the CM for his device, we need someone to port it into GS 3 Mini, so we're far from fully workng CM. So let's wait oliver and the other who really concern about our device GS 3 Mini.
Hey!
Sincerly from my opinion that "fight" was really child`ish. I didnt make a backgroung check on Mac and i dont care what he did in the past as long as he can make something viable for our phones. We can all be "condemned" for not folowing the GNU licence agrement at some point. Anyway its bad that we lost a DEV because some ppl have pride. Afaik the licence doesnt obligate anyone to share, it give you the right to share.
PS: English is not my native language so dont flame about my speling mistake.
PS2: This is just my opinion so take it as is.
Really upset to see that the devellopers where almost done with the first operationnelle version and now everything is gone due to personal ego's!
Unfortunatly I do not have developer skills

As a matter of fact he did on his webpage, but he removed it because the thread got closed meaning he's stopped the development.
Yes he had pictures with S3 mini booting CM 10 on his website.
Regarding the GNU-GPL licence...well after taking a closer look and reading carefuly i can say I was wrong and u was right. My appologies.
Anyway we could of given him some time .... maibe he whould of shared it. IDK.
Here is the passage from the GNU-GPL licence to make everything clear to everyone :
"When we speak of free software, we are referring to freedom, not price. Our General Public Licenses are designed to make sure that you have the freedom to distribute copies of free software (and charge for them if you wish), that you receive source code or can get it if you want it, that you can change the software or use pieces of it in new free programs, and that you know you can do these things.
To protect your rights, we need to prevent others from denying you these rights or asking you to surrender the rights. Therefore, you have certain responsibilities if you distribute copies of the software, or if you modify it: responsibilities to respect the freedom of others.
For example, if you distribute copies of such a program, whether gratis or for a fee, you must pass on to the recipients the same freedoms that you received. You must make sure that they, too, receive or can get the source code. And you must show them these terms so they know their rights."
Best regards.

Well. He isn't new to xda. He should have followed the rules.
As i already said in the thread, i had no problems if he shared the source when he released the rom. But then, there was no use ot the thread!
If he didn't want to share the source before releasing the rom, he shouldn't have had made that thread in the first place. If he did create the thread, it means he was seeking attention.
Also, did he or did he not ask for donation, before even releasing a single build?
I have seen his ways. That's why i resented.
Also, if he is a real dev, such petty things shouldn't stop him from contributing to the community!

hi shaaan....i saw that you are from galaxy s advance (same hardware of galaxy s3 mini).....in this evening i will re-start develop from cm10 and stop kernel develop.....(hope that i don't must work)...tomorrow i have 4 days free and i will spend to develop cm10. As i can see Oliver did a great work so i will start from that sources and every change i will publish on his repository. anyway....can you start doing some modifies with your work? The point is this: maclaw after a first compilation had various things working SO he must did something really simple.....such as changing something in BoardConfig.mk. After searching some i founded that we are missing something in this file for RIL problems that can work for our devices (start from there it is the main problem for now). add these in your boardconfig and see if work ( i am at work now and i can't test )

Hi,
I am a recently laid off 30 year old SAP consultant from India. Over the last few weeks, I have been reading about the wonderful world of android apps. There is a great opportunity in India for android apps as millions of smart phones are sold every year. I have decided on building apps targeted at the Indian stock market - like stock screeners, that help people reach a proper investment decision. I want to make money out of my apps, so I want then to be fairly professional so that somebody buying them wont feel cheated. Also, there are not many (any) stock screener apps targeted at Indian stock market. So there is an opportunity there and I want this idea to be my first.
But how do I go about it ? I learnt Java at college, 10 years ago. My Java is highly amateurish even after I refreshed it over the last few weeks.I have bought a book on MIT App Inventor...and developed a few simple example apps already and tested them on my mobile. I am not yet sure App Inventor can help me develop more complex apps like the one I mentioned above.
So, I am desperately looking for advise from people who have been there, done that. How do I go about developing my first app ? Should I go about it the hard way - learn Java better ? Read a book on Android application development ? Build Web Apps using HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery ? Or stick to MIT App Inventor ? Try some app builder development tool like Tiggzi, Codiqa or Kinvey ?
I really need your advise as I really need to develop something quickly and make money out of it. :fingers-crossed:
Hi!
As far as i can help....i made some apps, some of them native with Java and others with HTML5.
From my experience, if you plan to make somekind of "atlas app (like wikipedia)" or not very user interface intensive or if you already know html5+css+javascript, you could go with html5, but i will always recomend native with Java as you have much more control over you app.
Anyway, if starting from 0, go for Java (Android SDK) get any tutorial around the web, there are tons of them, some better than others ofc, and free.
Hope you find your way to go!
good luck!

Thanks for that. But may I also know your opinion on MIT App Inventor ?
I started with App Inventor and quickly out grew it. Using java will make it easier to move on to complex apps or add more complexity to any current ones.

I personally wouldnt use app inventor nor any other kind of "easy app maker"
I would not use the inventor, too.
I recommend reading the Head's First Java books (skip the UI part) and for Android the Vogella tutorials.

My Hibernate trainer quoted the following "You guys are brought up with IDE we used to compile on console". My sincere suggestion even in this RAPID developmental technologies around refresh your "Java skills" on console (DOS or Unix your wish) and make use of Eclipse IDE with Android SDK plugins for fast development. That would do. Start with Eclipse Helios and Google Android SDK and AVDs. Here you go... http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
I have developed a couple of very good apps and I use one myself but Google play store expects payment to become one of their developers Why should I pay for my own app to releasing to public for free? I choose XDA let them validate and evaluate my apps and enjoy. Let us CJava++++
The day is not far may be you get donated enough expand your ideas.
My advice is - don't read books, just start coding. A year ago I knew absolutely nothing about Java or Android. Find a webpage with sample android Activity. Start spawning your code from there. That's how I did it. Then lear something about deriving from View class... and so on...
Hey guys, thank you for all the advise. I will go through what each one of you has said and do things systematically.....I am basically starting from zero......so, lets see how far I go....and I will inform you guys about my progress and seek guidance from you.
Thanks again.

Yea it wasn't always good but now they have a good training part + they provide sample code that you can run and fiddle with
It has a couple good step by step stuff, but its mostly "add this code" and has snippets that don't often make sense till you have a decent understanding of the rest of the code.
Hello,
A short time ago I bought tecnology android and I've realized that I love to make changes, delete, re-program, install Rom, etc..
I always liked this programming, the only limitation I had was my financial situation, but it does not allow a limitation, short steps going forward.
For this reason I come to ask those who already know how to program, where I can find good tutorials, PDF materials, sources serve me to learn programming this wonder?
I would also like you to tell me how hard it can be. I already I have some knowledge of codes, mainly web design, HTML, CSS and some PHP.

Have you tried looking at the official web site for Android developers from google? I would post a link, but I still don't have enough reputation to post links. You should be able to find it by just googling.
In any case, you could start with Coursera or Udacity. For Coursera, you may have to wait until a class starts. But for either of them, note that you don't need to pay any money to take their classes. On Coursera, click on the title of each course to avoid the paywall. On Udacity, click on the blue buttons to "get free access to the materials", and don't bother with the "nanodegree" or the "free trial", that's where they ask for your credit card number.
On Udacity, it goes from the extremely easy to the extremely hard. Their beginner materials may be too easy for you. And their intermediate materials usually starts getting too hard for most people at around week 4. If that happens to you, go to the Coursera web site.
A few steps to start:
1. Google: android development
2. Install Android Studio
3. Set up a GIT repository: hint: google GitStack
4. Create a new app using Android studio template: hello world.
5. Start adding features to it.
It's not as hard as it looks .
