My HTC HD2 issues. Any solutions?

hello everyone
i am since 1 week a proud owner of fhis device. And please understand, i choose this device after allot of research en review analyses. I love it,the way it looks, feels etc. However after 1 week of testing and intensive using i came across many small issues that do create some irritation and i wanted to know what to do to fix them. That is if there are fixes available besides resetting the phone everytime they occur.
My first problem is the lock screen. If my phone is locked for a while and i want to unlock it, there is somtimes a good chance that my phone gets stuck and all i can do is resetting it
by removing the battery. My second issue is, that somtimes my opera browser stops rotating to landscape mode. Fixing this requires a phone reboot. My final issue which is the biggest, when i use the youtube app allot. After a while of using the volume control bugs out. Wheb you change volumes during the video, the phone freezes a tiny bit and then a windows error message appears.
What i would like to know if i can fix these problems somehow or if anyone else has simillar experiece as me.
Finally, i would like to know if it is possible to play youtube movies on the standard webbrowser, opera. i got skyfire installed, but it seems very slow and buggy.
Thanks in advance for your time
Hi Hydrad,
Sorry to hear you are having problems. I didn't have any of these problems initially so I can't help you there. It would help however to know what your ROM is, and if you ever updated your ROM.
The ROM my HD2 came with was messy and there were a lot of bugs. I installed Miri's 6.5.x rom and i have no problems whatsoever.
If you haven't done a ROM update before, don't worry it is not that hard, just write here and Id be glad to help.
All the best,
sh.

Follow the link in my signature for Flashing LEO Roms for noobs. Install HardSPL and then pick a rom from many available and flash it via activesync (usb). I would recommend Duttys WWE Rom in in sig to start withbut there are plenty of others that are worthy of flashing.
Flashing a custom rom will fix your freezing issues, fix your opera roatation problem and most include a youtube app to play yourtube videos directly rather than having to go through opera.
If you need anymore help then just shout as theres always people willing to lend there ear and share their knowledge.
Mark.
hi all. thank you for the replies.
i forgot to mention that i updated my rom already to 1.66. My htc is also not branded. I will follow the links you gave me. ty

[Q]Best build using Evo Sense?

Yeah... I've tried searching a lot, I just got this phone having learned I could port Android, but the problem now is I do have it running... but it doesn't run very well. I think what's happening to my phone right now is it's overheating, because I was actually trying out flash games just for kicks and it kept freezing(I have to take out the battery and put it back in just to fix it, and this time I actually had to reinstall android on my SD Card for it to work again) , same as when I was attempting to watch movies/tv shows. So, I'm wondering maybe if I change my winmo rom around and what have you that'll smooth things out. If anyone who's using MDJ's Evo Sense 2.3 build could point me in a good direction or maybe tell me it's something totally different causing my phone to lock up.
Much appreciated.

[Q] Is anyone suffering from constant reboot after Nand flash?

Hi guys.
Thanks for the great work you guys achieved!
I have been enjoying my HD2 much more these days.
I have been testing and flashing the nand roms on this forum and it seems all the desire roms are giving me a random reboot on my phone.
Not constant but at least twice a day.
I've uninstalled(or not installed any) apps or killer tasks.
The most stable nand rom I used without crashing much was the nexus rom.
Has the bug from Desire creeped into the nand rom based on Desire?
I've searched the forum and it says it could be corrupt data on the SD card
but I've cleared and formatted the SD card many times.
Any ideas what is causing the crash?
One key point is that my phone is in a flat where the signal is not very good so it is constantly looking for signal from the provider.
Apart from that I have all the HARDSPL 2.08, MAGLDR 1.11 installed and never had a issue flashing the roms.
Any advice or solution would be grateful! Thanks~
are you using an overclocked kernal? cause sometimes it happens when you are using it at full speed and starts rebooting itself, imho...
+1 on the Kernel theory here... Not all silicone is created equal, some phones can take the OC, some can not. Try and throttle it down with SetCPU.
Are you freezing up before the reboots??

I have the same problems.
I dunno
Now how would I check if I am using the overclocked kernal on my phone?

Not just overclocked kernels, undervolted kernels also don't work well for some people.
OP: which build are you currently using?
Install SetCPU and dial it down a little. If you don't know chances are you are not OC'ed, but that doesn't mean your CPU isn't taking some pain. Bring it down to say.... 800 and see if it holds on. Worth a shot.

Okie thanks for the quick reply
Currently I am running DFT stock Desire rom.
I think I flashed the phone with every nand rom on this forum....lol
The phone will just reboot when left alone.
So I don't know if it is crashing or freezing.
Sometimes it reboots while charging and sometimes just on standby doing nothing.
Doesn't seem to be getting warm but maybe I can't really feel it as it is bloody cold in my room.
I will try the SetCPU option and see what happens.
It may as well be something that simply occurs randomly. I flashed jdms nand 2 days ago & it worked great, yesterday tho I had to reflash wm coz I needed to reinstall copilot & deactivate it so I could get it on android. Once I went back to jdms nand, I started getting random reboots. So I went ahead & reflashed a 3rd time & its been stable once again.

It may also be just something it does early on, give it some time to settle...

i dont have this problem, i testing my rom on 3 days without sim-card. And it work well.
Thanks for the help guys!
Dialed down to 806 MHz.
I will report tomorrow if it reboots or not.
I get really jumpy when my phone suddenly vibrates on me...lol
i had it 2day for the first time, dont know why . im using the standerd rom from cotulla. i had it on the table while i was on my laptop n suddenly
it reboot itself
Yeah its scary coz you never expect it.
Imagine you are on your own watching the Ring or something and the phone jumps up!-_-;;
also keep in mind that your mainboard in the hd2 could be the problem. Had those reboot issues in winmo 6.5 (sometimes when doing nothing but mostly when watching youtube/cpu intensive service).
So i sent my phone to a repair center, they replaced the mainboard and since my phone doesn't reboot > sod whatever again and believe me there are an load of faulty mainboard around sadly
Second that, this girl had the same problem and she just got a warranty phone (new)

I had no problem what so ever when using windows rom, and I used whole bunch of them.
Had freezing from time to time but never reboot issue.
I've searched and there is a whole forum and issue on the HTC Desire rebooting constantly....
The phone rebooted itself just now even with the 800mhz drop.
I am going reflash to stock wm rom and then back to the most stable Nexus Android rom and see what happens from there.
Those of you who haven't had this problem yet let me inform you that this problem doesn't start right away after you flash the rom, maybe couple of days or a week after it started.
Let's try and get it sorted out~!
same problems here, using mdj gingerbread 1.3
but its always freeze while running heavy cpu load apps like games, earth, youtube etc
tried donwclock to around 800 mhz but dont solved =/
Same problem here , randomly reboot.
I m using JDMS 1.62 , only happen on android , WM rom is working fine without reboot.
Well it seems I am not the only one having this problem here.
Anybody running Nexus rom and still having random reboot issues?
Or anyone running Android on SD card without and random reboots?
Could it be the the data on the phone is rewriting the wrong information and causing it some process to fail and to reboot?
It doesn't seem to be the hardware fault(then it would happen alot more often as hardware fail will be permanent and problem would show more frequently) although I have read on the Desire forum people have been sending their phone back for motherboard replacement with mixed results.
Currently reflashing again!

Gingerbread (CM7 RC4) vs Modern Combat (gameloft)?

Hi everybody,
i'm running Cyanogenmod 7 RC 4 (Radio Radio_12.28g.60.140f_26.05.05.27_M3) on my DHD - everything fine, very fast! But Modern Combat 2 just doesnt work. When i started it first on RC3 the game started for a few seconds, since then all i got was following FC:
process com.gameloft.android.GAND.GloftBPHP.ML has stopped unexpectedly
I tried everything i found on google: several redownloads, Uncheck compatibility mode in spare parts, fixed permissions and wiped my cache, several restarts. Everything without the slightest success.
Has anybody a solution to this? I'd think it is no general Gingerbread issue, since some people reported it working on CM7 RC2.
Thank you very much in advance
Nasobem
Hi Mate,
I would try reporting it to the Dev's on their official site.....
Hi,
thank you for the tip, i definetly should do this as there is no solution, i think.
But i'm thinking about going back to my old froyo-rom anyway because of gps issues
greetings
Nasobem
I contacted customer-support of gameloft and they said that their games currently do not work on gingerbread.
Moreover, they couldnt even tell me if there'll ever be a gingerbread-update.
I'd like to try out the new cm7 - so i'm asking again if anybody here somehow got it working - maybe some kind of dirty workaround?
I can't believe that all the gingerbread-fans out there do not play gameloft-games.
greetings
Nasobem
I was under the impression that the current Gingerbread Cyanogen roms dont have proper GPU drivers yet. That's probably the reason for the crashes. Try a Sense based rom and you'll have no problem.

No, the libs were merged a while back and they are the same ones found in the 1.84 Sense update. 3D games work without any issues now! There is a CM6 ROM floating about the forum, it includes the dsp fix etc. Check it out!
Regards.
Thank you very much for your answers! So it seems its no cm7-issue.
I think i will try first the cm7 final and if it does not work cm6 - and wait for a modern combat update, maybe they fix it somehow.

I am running cm7 too but for me it worka perfect. The game starts normally and never gave me problems.

It's working on cm7? Yay! Thank you for chiming in, now i know i can definetly change to cm7, and if it doesnt work i can try to find a solution. ... I've been kinda depressed when gameloft told me it wouldn't work on gingerbread.
Maybe it was a RC4-issue.

Hi,which ROM are you using?
Tried a lot of them but have same problem.
Hi, just a quick update: I'm now on cm7 V7.0.2, but it still doesn't work.
Valleyman, is it possible you meant cm6?

I have this problem to...but open MC2...then go to home screen (botton house) and then notifications bar and click to MC2...and play game...Works for me!
Finally! That did it! It's working again. Thank you very very much, lewak.
Maybe gameloft should pay you, as their own customerservice obviously doesn't know what you know
Np...if you have any problem with any game send me private mesage

Are you overclocked?
Whatever this is, it's definitely a hardware issue, not SW

no not overclocked. root is only changes from stock
whatever it is it's only effecting 5 apps, TB , a task killer. rarely.
3 games quite often.
i dont get it. strange
Thinking about flashing ICS or tiamatxoom on this sucker.
while back i got a permissions changing app, because i got alittle tired of so many apps self starting , the app mentioned that certain permission changes could possibly damage my os. Is this true?
also noticed that the ota nagging has stopped
Flash ICS, definitely. But undoing the permissions changes might be the answer. If it was in permissions denied, I know sometimes that can cause problems. Using autostarts has never caused this issue for me.
Yes!
IML77 cured all, and im loving ICS
