[Q] Vibrant is not connecting to wifi networks - Networking

Hi I read through the forums and posts, but did not get a topic related to my issue. may be I missed something!!
My Samsung vibrant was connecting to wifi networks at home and office properly for almost 2 months and today it suddenly started acting strange. It detects the wifi connects to it then keeps disconnecting and connecting every second. Really worried as this is an unlocked version and I recently rooted it too. But even after rooting the wifi was working fine.. No idea.. what happened suddenly Plz help..

I'm going to assume you mean it isn't connecting at your office? Samsung Galaxy phones are notorious for having connection problems with enterprise routers, mine had the same problem last year.
The big problem for me was, that it was my school's wifi all together, and since I live here at my university, I had to go and up my data plan because, well quite frankly, you can't do jack **** with 200 mb of data.
I tried factory resetting, flashing new ROMs and kernels to no avail; however about 2 months ago it just started working for no reason and has continued to work since.
Good luck.

Thanks FLAC... Like you said... It startedWww working automatically. Very strange...

!! Missin' WiFi Over a Year !!

I'm not exactly sure when the wifi stopped connecting to any external devices (since I don't really use it) but I was just curious if anyone else has had the same problem.
Basically it will pickup routers/whatever, notify, ask for pass key (if needed) and then try to connect for about 3-4 seconds, then just say unavailable.
I can get multiple connections popping up for wifi nets in different physical areas to connect to etc, but they all do the same thing. It's been about a year I believe since I could connect to anything. Wouldn't mind using this at school.
If this has been answered, oooooops. I'm sorry guys but there were just too many noob posts to look through while searching for this.. Sorry folks, peace!
btw i've went through dozens of roms over the time period all same outcome, problem internally somehow perhaps?
I believe I saw you post that you are now on XPlore 2.0. If you still don't have WiFi then you have hardware issues.
i think some roms have a problem with either wpa or wep security

yes I havent been around much anymore, nor updated my stuff. It's all good, no biggy, I gotta let the wizard go in a couple months was just curious. Thanks all!

Very Unusual Problem 2G Networks Dead, 3G Fine

Well this is a new problem. My G1 seems to have decided it will not register on any 2G networks any more. Tried 3 SIM cards, all the same situation where 3G works fine then 2G fails completely.
I had been experiencing random cut outs on both the WiFi and mobile connections since upgrading to the latest Cyanogen firmware so upgraded to the latest radio. That worked fine for a couple of days but now no dice.
Also worth mentioning is that the device was crashing sometimes when the phone gets too much in the memory (for instance with a couple of widgets running it crashes when you start the camera).
Any advice would be great
Have gone all the way back to stock (and most things in between) in the hope than it was a bad flash but not looking that way
Also had the back off to see if there are any obvious problems (like a loose connection or obvious burnt board), but still no joy. Anyone know what sort of costs HTC would put in to get this sorted?

Wifi Signal Strength Issues

I've been looking everywhere for solutions to the weak Wifi on the Nexus 10, but didn't find any solutions yet.
The network also has an added wifi repeated connected via LAN, but still the Nexus keeps 1-3 bars of wifi.
I have another 5 or so Wifi devices, Galaxy S2, Lumia 920, iPhone, 2 laptops. None of these have any issues and are always on 4-5 bars, usually max all the time.
I've tested both on 2.4ghz and 5ghz, both to my Asus AC66U and also to an old RT-10, one Huawei, etc.
It's very clear that no matter the band or router settings, the Nexus 10 really has a weak signal reception in comparison.
Since the Nexus is new for me, it's on 4.3 and I don't know how it performed earlier.
Are there any other modem drivers or similar that can be flashed?
Any other experiences with custom ROM's?
Wifi strength has been a little weak since release honestly. Has been mentioned alot here and around the web for a while.
Now my problem since the latest update has been wifi drops where I lose wifi transfer completely even though the wifi icon shows a good connection.
I think this is something new (i know it is for me at least) and have been looking to see if anyone else has seen this issue in the latest software release.
If I toggle wifi off/on it works after but it is a huge pita.

This problem (wifi icon gray and no internet connection) started with 4.3 for me without question. Previously wifi connectivity was rock solid and I never gave a second thought to it. Nothing changed but the android version. I hope it is fixed in 4.4.

Yeah, another guy at work told me his is doing the same after 4.3. Surprised we aren't seeing it mentioned more around here.
Anyone else seeing wifi drops?

mine was doing the same thing. i tried clearing the cache, uninstalling apps that i thought might interfere and then a full factory reset. still had the same problem. i rooted and then did a factory reset from recovery and it hung up reinstalling apps so i did another factory reset still in and out. i did another factory reset and logged into my wifi and left for a few hours to work on something else. when i got back the signal showed full and about half of the apps installed. i reinstalled all of the apps that hadn't installed and it's working fine now. not sure why i had to wipe it 4 times but it's working fine now and streaming movies without a hiccup. i guess something kept getting corrupted during the setup or reinstall of apps. anyway it's been working fine for a few hours which is the best it's done in the last month.

[Q] Need help, wifi issues on S4 I337, OC3, 5.0.1, not rooted.

I have tried reading on these forums for a little while, and am overwhelmed with the vast amount of content. I apologize in advance if this has already been addressed.
I purchased my first Android device and am having some serious Wifi issues. I am able to connect to both of my wireless routers, however there seems to be something blocking the data from streaming to my phone regularly. I have factory reset my phone twice now and am about to just sell it off to get a different one, which is a bummer because I really like it!
The wifi worked perfectly fine for the first couple of weeks and then suddenly stopped being reliable. Is there anything I can do, like root the device (would love to remove the ridiculous amount of bloatware) or change some settings? I have used almost 1gb on my mobile network in less than 48 hours, which is more than I used the entire month before because I simply cannot conduct any online business via wifi.
Please, when replying, keep in mind I am a noob. You may have to explain it to me with crayons...

Question about data connection and WiFi hotspot

I have been on a Nexus 5 for the last couple years and used it as a WiFi hotspot,, which has been an amazing thing to have. Especially at my office where I use it to give my Surface Pro 3 a connection... A couple of times I would activate my older HTC One m7 and try to do the same, but I never got as strong a connection and therefore when connecting the Surface to the hotspot, I'd get the dreaded "limited WiFi connection" and couldn't use it at all. I figured it was a bad hardware or a different antennae causing it. Switching back to the Nexus 5 always worked perfectly.
I recently got my HTC 10 and put Bad Boyz 1.1 on there (which is awesome so thanks to OMJ and everyone who helped him). The first morning I was able to connect and download a about 100MB file without issue. Since then the Internet is VERY spotty via the hotspot and pretty much unusable. I do see the LTE indicator on the phone bouncing frequently between decent, strong, and no bars....but the phone itself seems great as far as data connection.
Any ideas what might cause this? Or fixes? What would make one modern Sprint phones connection or hotspot ability worse than another? I'm honestly wishing I hadn't upgrades if I can't use my hotspot reliably...
Any ideas?
