I'm not exactly sure when the wifi stopped connecting to any external devices (since I don't really use it) but I was just curious if anyone else has had the same problem.
Basically it will pickup routers/whatever, notify, ask for pass key (if needed) and then try to connect for about 3-4 seconds, then just say unavailable.
I can get multiple connections popping up for wifi nets in different physical areas to connect to etc, but they all do the same thing. It's been about a year I believe since I could connect to anything. Wouldn't mind using this at school.
If this has been answered, oooooops. I'm sorry guys but there were just too many noob posts to look through while searching for this.. Sorry folks, peace!
btw i've went through dozens of roms over the time period all same outcome, problem internally somehow perhaps?
I believe I saw you post that you are now on XPlore 2.0. If you still don't have WiFi then you have hardware issues.
i think some roms have a problem with either wpa or wep security
sweet
yes I havent been around much anymore, nor updated my stuff. It's all good, no biggy, I gotta let the wizard go in a couple months was just curious. Thanks all!

hello Everyone, i'm new around here, but still i've got to benefit from all the information and knoledge poured on these pages for upgrading my TYTN to WM 6 (Schaps 3.54b) as well as adding the Hard-spl and upgrading the radio to 1.41
so, let's start from the begining. before doing the upgrade i was already having the problem with the WIFI, and that is that one day, it started searching for networks, but never found any, not even if i was 20 cm close to the Access Point. the problem persisted until i upgraded it to WM6, which was 2 days ago, and then miraculously it started working again, and detected my home's wireless network. but yesterday it begun to have the same problem again, searches for networks, but never finds any....
i really don't know what to do now... has nayone else had the same or a similar problem and found out a way to solve it? or does anyone know what might be causing the problem so that i can fix it?
thank you very much in advance for all the help that i'm sure you will all provide.
the problem has been solved, sorry to everyone if i made you loose some time reading this thread.
the thing is that i didn't look at all the options on the connectivity tab, and on schap's rom, there are 2 wifi icons, one for the settings, and another one to manage the networks, i didn't see this last one, but now after studying all the options, i've managed to set it up correctly and all is working fine now.
again, thank you very much, and sorry if i made you waste your time
to any mods out there who might be reading this, you can delete this topic.
thank you.
I just want to know has anyone had any problems with the wifi? and wep/wpa? ive heard some complaints about this and i jus want to see how common it is
I use mine on a wep and wpa network everyday with no problems at all.
I use wep at home and wpa at work, no problems.
no problems so far...

mines also good too.
Wifi on mine is 100% broken. Trying to turn it on makes the phone freeze and then reboot.
Phone arrived yesterday. Wifi never worked a single time, out of the box. Details / video below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=618764
Buyer beware.
Ok thanks guys, it seems only a few are broken, fingers crossed I guess.
Paul has another, much larger post about this up here somewhere that you can probably pitch into.
I read that rebooting 4-5 times worked for someone.

To be fair, I've searched and searched and searched on here, Google's support forums, Google itself, etc, and have not yet found a single other person with broken wifi like on mine.
So I guess I'm 1 in 20,000, sigh.
Either way, I would caution against purchasing the device until the 3G/Edge switching problems have been fixed. I didn't care about those issues, because I thought I'd always be on wifi. Heh, boy was I wrong...
Thanks paul, I do suggest sending it back by the way
No Wifi problems here either WEP or WPA (no 3G/Edge issues either)
WPA works fine here, but doesn't always re-connect automatically after an incoming phone call. Sometimes need to force a re-scan when I'm at the far edges of the range.
Ok
so for the last couple of days I've noticed that when at home, if I turn on the HD2's Wifi, my entire home network stops working. The router can no longer be accessed, even by wired Ethernet.
I figure it was a router issue, so I bought a newer better one by a different company - and what do you know: The same problem persists! As soon as I enable WiFi in my HD2 the router becomes unaccessible - and as I turn it off, all is well again.
I'm a computer technician, an MCSA and usually pretty good with those things, yet this issue baffles me. What on earth could cause that?
No other WIFI devices cause this issue, only my HD2.

What is the radio firmware version on the phone and what is the make, model and firmware revision of the router.
2 IT engineers are always better the one
My older router (with same problem) was 3Com 3CRWER200-75.
I replaced it with an Edimax BR-6524N. Same weird issue.
Both have latest firmwares.
My phone radio version... To be honst, I don't know how to check. My ROM version is 1.48.405.2 (71294) WWE - which is the stock rom of the Israeli version as supplied by Newpan.
Also worth mentioning, this didn't happen until a couple of days ago. Everyting was fine for months with the same exact configuration. SOMETHING must've changed, but what?
And how is it possible for my phone to kill two different routers?
I have the same problem with my laptop when running windows 7 but not linux....seems too me at least my problem is a driver issue.could be the damned for you too possibly. Was there a possible divert update on your phone?
I do not have an hd2 so I am not sure.
Edited for auto correct mistake

You check your phone radio revision the same way you check your rom version. Go to settings, about phone, software information and look for the line "radio version".
Your actual rom version is quiet old and if you are still using a stock rom then you may want to have a look at the htc website for your country and see if you can get 1.66 rom or newer.
I personally have never experienced this problem but i always use linksys or netgear networking equipment. The linksys router i have at home i've had for many years (it's a wrt54g v2.0) and it still works perfectly even though it's cpu and networking chipsets are overclocked and it runs a custom firmware.
Well, the ROM is the latest available for my country :-(
But anyway, I managed to solve it by deleted all my wireless preferences and just 'rediscovering' my home network from scratch. Surprisingly that worked and solved the problem, even on my old router.
Now I'm wondering if I should return the new one and stick to my trust good old one, or stick with the new one? It was pretty expensive, and I don't really use an N wireless connection anywhere anyway, so... What do you think, XDA?

You have no need for it, get your money back.
the hd2 is capable of N speeds. You just need to enable it in the registry. Personally i would use the old one till it dies and keep the newer one in a box till then but the choice is yours
The newer one is a lot of money I spent for something I didn't even need eventually. I'll be turning it back, I think.
Thanks to all who helped You guys rock!

great to hear that you've found a solution!
A thought came to mind while reading this thread.
Wonder if it's possible that a certain radio file/setting on your HD2 might've been corrupted and instead of generating the usual wifi signal, it could've generated a signal on the same frequency that completely jammed you're router signal?
Similar to the radio jammer units available in some countries that can be used for GSM, Wifi, etc... just a thought!
Im glad you brought this up because I had the exact same problem (accept I could connect via ethernet just wifi went dead), almost brought a new router after spending 2 days trying to set it up :/ It wouldnt allow anything to see the router wifi wise let alone connect to it via wifi. I havent turned my wifi on the phone since then but ill try reseting my settings later to see if that works. I didnt wanna risk screwing the router over lol. Im on stock 1.48 rom and radio on o2 as well

That's an interesting thought, and if it's true - reversing it could be a tool for evil - just imagine being able to shut down networks just like that...
Anyway, I'm glad my issue was solved. That Edimax N router is really expensive, and I like my trusty old 3Com way better.
My N*kia n95 used to f*ck up the router like this sometimes
Anyone else experiencing problems with the Wlan? Everyday I have to shut down Wifi, and start Wifi again to reconnect to my router. This mostly happens after the phone has been unused for a few minutes.
When I start using the phone again, it still says i´m connected, I still have the IP, and the signalbar. But when trying to use the internet there is no connection.
My X10, asus lamborghini, hp laptop and desktop pc works flawlessly, so there cant be anything wrong with the router.
Would like to confirm that this is a general problem, and not just my phone...
I didn't have this problem until I played with the WiFi sleep policy. I switched it from 'Never' to 'Sleep when screen is off' and I then got the problem you described. I have since switched my phone back to 'Never' and the problem has gone away.

Yeah, I have mine set to never also. Still have the same problem.
Just added a videon on youtube to show how it keeps disconnecting itself, and how I restore connection.

I've got the same problem with my phone, its really annoying
There are three threads and one poll dedicated to Wi-Fi. There was no definitive answer in those threads so I doubt there will be one in this thread. Do a search.
Same problem here, not sure if it's down to running a customer rom, anyone having this problem on stock rom?
Yes I've had this problem and tried to send my phone back over it.
It appears to be a problem with WPA1 - the wifi driver hangs and the phone kills it (from adb logcat).
It happened on my home wifi - I switched it to WPA2 and it went away; however, my employer uses 802.1X and I have to use HSPDA at work as wifi keeps crashing.
Please god, not another ten pages of the same questions, theories, and debates. Here's the original Wi-Fi thread, continue your musings here:

Finally solved the WLAN problem! It seems the Belkin N+ router is not fully compatible with the Galaxy S2. Bought the Asus RT-N56U router a few days ago, and the Wlan - Wifi connection to the phone has worked flawlessly since then!
So now you know!

Yup noobs shouldn't be able to make threads...only replies on posts for a at least a year. Saves a lot of junk. Plus we get a variety of useful threads page after page.

Get off your high horses. I found a solution in this 'noob' thread that I did not find in the pages of waffle on the main thread.
It may have cost me £100 but it is a solution which is what some of us pragmatic types want. The rest of the high and mighty around here can cast around for an understanding of the underlying issue but some just want to get things to work and get on with our lives. Both attitudes are valid and one camp should not set themselves as more 'worthy' than the other.
A sense of superiority is seldom founded on anything useful.

Hi guys,
I've been looking around this forum for solutions but i didn't find out something corresponding to my situation.
I'm using last Epinter CM10 Rom, and when I unlock my screen, Wifi doesn't work. Wifi icon is gray. Same thing happens often for datas.
Besides the issue is getting worse with time : it happens any time 1 or 2 weeks after I flashed a rom.
I thought it was related to kernel but i'm doubting of it.
One solution is to turn Wifi Off and then turn it on. But it doesn't work all the time.
I hope you will be able to help me.
And apologize if my english is bad.
do you gave correct IP address?

I do. Thing is sometimes wifi works. So IP adress must be corect. Besides this issue also happen with data.
By looking on other forum I saw this issue happens frequently on other phones running ICS/JB.
