Questions about the Xoom Wifi - Xoom General

Hi all,
I have questions about the Motorola Xoom Wifi. First I'm french, I'm sorry if I do mistakes in my post.
Well, I would like to buy a xoom on B&H website because the France is always to late concerning the technology.
- the warranty is international ? If I meet a problem with the tablet in France, Can I contact motorola fr?
- I have a HTC leo HD2 (very good cell phone) with Android 2.3 (I use a custom rom from xda of course thx !!) and with a data plan 3G.
my question is can I do Wifi-tethering betwen the phone and the tablet ?
Thx all. I'm waiting your answers.

Don't think you'd be able to call Motorola France, as they wouldn't have proper support until its launched natively in your country. You'll kinda be on your own if you're buying it somewhere else and importing it to France.

yes.

I understand for the warranty. Motorola France can't support the xoom before it launch in my country. But when the tablet launch in France, the Xoom US can be support by moto ?
The document warranty in the box specify a country ?
Thx

I'm sure it could be supported by Moto, but probably not by Moto France unless its bought in France. That would be my guess, not sure though.

Ok thank you.
I may be waiting the french launch. I hope that it wiil be the beginning of april.

HTC Touch HD in Austria??

Hy,
Did someone know´s when the HTC Touch HD comes in Austria, and @ which Provider i will get it?
thanks
The Touch HD can already be purchased in Austria for about 600€.
If it will ever be available at one of our providers is a question I can't answere.
yes, i know that it can be purchased @ geizhals or amazon.
But 600€ is to expansive, and thats why i want to know when it can be buyed at any austrian provider?!
I've been asking around. Telstra, Optus, Vodafone... in fact everybody in town. Nobody has even heard of Touch HD. Everytime I need to get them to look up at the web pages for info. They still think that the "upcoming" Touch Pro is the best one could get. Expansys Australia is a big joke. HD is showing the status of "to be announced" when everyone else overseas is already busy selling it.
Would be real nice if one of the Telcos could carry it, as not only that would give us the local warranty but also reduce the cost significantly.

Oops.. LOL .
The two words are so close, isn't it? Ha ha.
yes they are close, but when i´m in a foreign country and someone aks me, where i´am from and i will say, i´m from : Austria.
Then the other person will say, ahhh australia with the kangaroo. And this will "hurts" because the most people (also in europe) dont know anything about austria. And everytime when this happens, then i´ll thought about what did they have learned in geography in school.
And thats why i have written austria in big and fat and colored fonts.
But no problem
cheeers
Indeed.
Often when I'm using webpages where threre is a drop down box for country selection, I would accidentally select Austria instead of Australia.

Shops that have the HD Mini in Stock?

It looks like some users in the Forum already got the HD mini. Does anyone know which (online) shop already have the WWE version in Stock? The only shop I found is "brack.ch" but they only deliver within Switzerland (i live in Germany).
The HD mini didn´t got too much positiv feedback so far but for me there is no alternative, since I need a software that is only available for WM6.x and Iphone. And since I want a capacitive screen and the HD2 is too big for my taste, and I already been frustrated enough by Apple products, the HD mini seems to be the only option.

Hello Nivi78, they seem to be on stock with several suppliers, though these are Dutch versions......
There are shops which have the English version for 355 euro but only ships in Holland.
If you want can order and re-route the phone to you.....
Thanks a lot for your offer Frank Caarls! That´s really kind of you. But I think it´ll just be easier to order from clove.co.uk.
Ok, good luck with your purchase..
Let us know if you like the device..

[REQ] HTC Aria to France

Hi everyone,
I'm in Paris - France, and was quite interested when reading Aria related announcement and specs.
Unfortunately I now know this handset is only available in US when being AT&T, and there is no Aria equivalent for Europe.
I went to eBay first but did not find a single device members would ship to France... So here I am,
Who could help me getting this phone ?
Thanks for your answers / suggestions

3.2 Update in Australia?

Hey guys
I have a SGT 10.1 (3G) model, which was bought through Mobicity in Australia. Now i KNOW they source their stock from overseas, but i just spotted yesterday that the HC 3.2 update was available for download?
Now am i getting that pushed because i'm in Australia? Or is it being pushed to the device because it was bought in a specific country thats getting it? (e.g The UK have been receiving it)?
Am just curious, so i can get an idea of when future PUSH updates might be coming to mine.
Updates are being pushed according to origin of the ROM that is on your device.
If you put a given UK carrier rom, you will get this UK carrier updates, and so on.
Well all i've done is root it, not put any custom ROM's on yet....
So how can i tell the origin of the stock ROM on it?
Well if you bought it from a regular carrier and not something like Ebay, you most likely have an Australian version! (no idea what Mobicity is but every carrier have its own ROMs)
What is your current ROM version anyway?
As long as you are on stock ROM, any update will have to go through your carrier for approval and such. So look on their site / ask them for info.

Mobicity is an importer who deals in phones, tablets and accessories. I got my tab through them before Apple sued Samsung to stop selling them locally (nd then I loaded leaked roms)
If you got it from MobiCity like my self I believe you got an Asian ROM
They source the tablet from Hong Kong
So most likely you didn't get an Australian specific ROM
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App

I agree that you won't have an Australian rom on the tablet but just because you get it from Mobicity means that it's from Asia. They seem to source the products from Europe, Asia and USA (depending on avaiability). My Galaxy S 2 came from Europe somewhere, my Galaxy Tab 10.1 came from America I believe and a HTC Desire S I bought for someone came from Asia.
Got my tab from Vodafone. Its going to be 6 months before it'll get 3.2. why not flash? im sure I'll get ics way before if you're willing to wait.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Thanks for the replies guys.
Yeah i figured Mobicity would be buying from Asia. So can i tell which ROM i'm on from the Build Number? Mine says (with 3.2 installed) HTJ85B P7500XWKL1
Thanks
P7500XWKL1:
XW: Poland ROM, with support for deutch, english, spanish, french, italian, and 2 more languages I dont know about (de,en,es,fr,it,pt,tr)
KL1: Built 1st week (1) of December (L) 2011 (K)
I just got my Tab tonight, so forgive me if I'm not posting this right as I've just downloaded the update and its installing, so I can't see my exact screens. All I did was go to the settings menu and check for updates. I had to sign up for a Samsung account first, but then it went right through. It said it was updating to 3.2. And just an observation, but it looks like it may take a bit of time. Mine has been updating for over 5 minutes now and its only at 39%.
Edit: I'm on a Wifi only Tab BTW...

Hi, I'm just curious. For those that bought international version of S8/S8+, which country or service provider sw ver., do you have? Info can be found under about phone and software.

Yes I did. Bought it at launch. For the same price as in the US, I got a fast wireless charger, OEM case, Bluetooth speaker, and cash voucher thrown in. Quite a good deal I must say.
I split my time between the US, Europe, and Bangkok. I don't get my phones in the US anymore (from AT&T) because they are locked, have less LTE bands and, most importantly, don't offer dual SIM versions!

I believe the CSC does include localization, I just don't use it. I prefer everything to be in English.

ROM/ROM/XSG - bought it from a Romanian retailer but the charger was not European, it is a type G one (GBR,IRL,MLT etc.). I wonder what that means.

That means it was imported from United Arab Emirates. I also think it means you don't have any warranty service in Romania from Samsung.

Well that kind of sucks... I have 2 years of warranty from the seller so no huge issue but still. At least I hope that the quality control for UEA is better then Eastern Europe. The phone looks to be good with no bloatware installed and I am planning to root and install custom ROMs so bye bye warranty anyway...
Thanks for the reply though.
