Hello,
I've now installed a V2.3 ROM on my x8 and it's great but I would like to get back a text message I received and backed up using the "Backup and restore" app in 2.1.
Is there any way I can restore my text messages without having to re flash my phone just to get them.
Hope someone can help
Thanks
This is for cm6,but try and test apk in post #2 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11901480#post11901480 I have not tested this, but is reported working on MiniCMbeta rom

Hi, first post -been a long time lurker
Rooted my mytouch and went along uninstalling bloatware using titanium backup, wanted to reinstall a few of the programs and found that I can't.
I really would just like to restore the factory rom on it, did anyone make a copy that I could download?
Thanks
You'll probably need to wait until Clockworkmod gets ported, that way you can restore from a nandroid backup. Alternatively, you should be able to get to recovery and restore back to factory from there. Easiest way to do that is to open up adb and run adb reboot recovery. If the option to restore isn't there, turn off fast boot in options and then power off the phone. Hold volume down and power at the same time until a menu with a few options comes up. Press the volume down button until you get to factory reset and then press the power button to confirm the selection.
You should be able to just through this mofo on there...

Thanks for the suggestions, nothing has helped so far. I was able to restore the phone, but the system apps that I deleted are permanently gone. Thats what I'm looking for...
I downloaded the "stock" tmo rom from the other thread and tried to install it from rom manager with no success. When I'm in recovery, I get the error can't read zip file when I try to apply the stock rom.
So, any other suggestions?
Thx
Only thing I can think of is you're gonna have to wait for a stock nandroid backup to be posted.

Any luck? There are a few people over on the dev board stating future updates may not work without some of the bloatware crap (per their experience on a MT3G), so I'd like to know how you pulled this off if I have to go that route in the future.
You can try this to go back to complete stock.

Thats exactly what I ended up doing. I was running 2.2.1 and had the phone rooted and was able to restore it to stock 2.2.
Worked great, Thanks!
Can someone post the swype apk from this rom? I backed it up in titanium, but it won't restore
Hey so for people using virtous unity I have a question. If I were to full wipe and install from fusion could I keep my tapfish and other apps which I paid to receive credits in? Cause before I flashed and did full wipe and it would delete all my progress and I titanium back up the data and app but it still didn't work can someone please help me!?

i think if you do an advanced restore in cwm you can choose to restore just the data from your previous rom. i've never done it but you might wanna look into it and give it a try
Titanium Backup works with tapfish, as well as those other games like contract killer, BTG. It may seem like you were just screwed over, but you weren't. Back up app+data, then restore it on the other ROM. First, restore app+data. After Android asks if you want to install the app, install it. Do NOT press open. Press DONE. When you're in titanium, just restore the data to the same app. It will work.
Tl;dr version: backup app/data
Restore app/data
Restore data only ( data is restored twice )
Celebrate.
Have flashed and rooted - can someone confirm
a) OTA updates no longer work - what will happen if I accidently OK the install prompts - is there any way to suppress these?
B) best app to made backups - clockwork recovery with titanium backup - if I make full nandroid - will titatium restore all apps fully?
c) I plan to test out paranoid android first then probably the modoco ROM - any other suggestions
Thanks in advance
A)No, OTA updates will not work if you're rooted. I don't know what would happen, but it wouldn't be pretty. Don't sweat it, just don't accept the update
B)I back up my apps with titanium backup, so j can restore them onto new ROMs that I flash and still have the same in app data and whatnot, but if you do a nandroid, it will backup everything into a (somewhat large) file, apps included. I use ROM manager to create my nandroids, but you can do it in clockwork mod recovery without the app too.
C)As for what ROM, its a good idea to try a few out, then settle with the one that you like and enjoy using the most. I would suggest at least try out the glazed jellybean ROM, super smooth and stable
Ok so i was previously on CM 10.2 and it was a bit too bleeding edge for me so i decided to downgrade back to 10.1 only to find out theres a new RC, 10.1.3. So i tried to dirty flash 10.1.3 straight away in cwm knowing it was a bad idea but long story short , it didnt work and i somehow got LiquidSmmoth 2.9 installed.
Heres where the fun starts, ive used both SMSBackup And Restore and Sms Backup + to restore messages but they simply dont work. Im guessing it has something to do with going from 4.3(CM0 to 4.2.2(LS). Sms Backup and Restore just spits out an error as soon as i select the .xml and Sms Backup + backs up to my email and even restores it back onto the phone, but i open mesages and handcent, theres nothing there. Could it be that 4.3 has a different location for messages??
It seems im stuck using the CM 10.2 rom if i want to keep my messages. They are important and id rather not lose them. If you have any ideas i can try, please post. Id be very grateful.

TiBu crashes before the restore completes. Using the same version on both cwm backup's.

Is 4.3 Different to 4.2 when it comes to messages? I mean SMS backup + restored something cause it took 10 minutes. So where did it all go??

SMS Backup+ backs up your SMS and MMS to your GMail, if you go to your gmail and check labels, look for SMS and they're all there (usually in groups of 100) and can be restored to another phone/ROM with the same program. Although it only restores SMS, not MMS (although they do remain saved to your gmail so you can still view them).
Ok so i mnagaed to get my messages across since no utility/app could do it. I did it manually using this post:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...le-system-i-e-message1-extension-or-in-a-data
Basically copying the database file across roms seems to work so far. Not sure why some apps i tried were crashing but at least its working.
Hi everyone! I recently decided to install the 4.4.2 rom on my Galaxy Note 3 N9005 and I didn't like it because it obviously was buggy as ,entioned in the thread. So I wanted to go back to my nandroid backup which I had made before installing the rom. It all went right in CWM and no errors, so I rebooted my phone and got stuck at the glowing samsung logo, so after many fixes and things I tried which didn't work I flashed a pre-rooted stock rom for it and it all went well. I managed to restore to my nandroid finally and then I unlock my phone to find a "com.google.process.gapps has been stopped" message which wont go away when I tap "OK". It just comes back and gives me one second untill it comes back again. I really need help since I need my phone for work, I have tried reinstalling all the gapps, wont work, I have tried reflashing the stock rom and restoring my nandroid again, I have tried deactivating "Downloads" in the app manager but that wont fix it either and finally I have tried clearing the "app data" for all my apps but again, no luck. If anyone would be able to help me I would appriciate it very much. Thanks in advance!
You're probably gonna have to go back to complete stock. Grab your stock image and flash via odin, boot it up and see if it gives you the error without installing custom recovery and your backup. That way you'll know where the error lays.

Forgot to mention but when I return to complete stock there isn't such a message, only when I restore to my nandroid. I also tried restoring from an older backup which I had made like 2 months ago and the same problem remains, "com.google" message is still there. Any suggestions or should I just start over?

Sounds like a dodgy backup or it somehow got corrupted, I'd start over to save any headaches for future reference -- It's a headache I know, but safer I think. You could hang five, see if anyone else chimes in with any other ideas though

A nandroid backup is simple but monolithic. Most people also use Titanium Backup for the ability to restore selective stuff, or to restore to a completely different model of phone.
I had same issue
Bith titanium and nandroid restore.
Well only way to save your self. Completing wizard of first startup with feeling google..
And just restore user apps and data with titanium except google stuff..
This is the only healthy restore method so far i know that gapss.com keeps kool

So I somehow managed to go to settings and disable Play Services with the one second time line that I had before the message appears again, and the message stopped. So it must be something with Play Services. Since i'm new to android (and the Note 3 is my first android phone) I want to ask if there is a way to maybe reinstall Plaay Services?

Hi, there! I just got almost the same issue like you. Once update to custom 4.4.2, any nandroid backups which worked right before getting GAPPS' FC constantly. :crying: Try double wipes, flash 4.3 gapps full package, stop&restart android download, uninstall google play store update, etc. nothing can fix it. Only way stop the popup error, is flash stock rom. But, consequently, lose root access, even with the same method that rooted the stock rom before. I'll heard some guy said the 4.4.2 has different partition from 4.3 or older android rom. But don't mention how to restore the old partition way. So, hope anyone can help us out, thanks a lot.
