the option of going to mass storage mode or usb charging etc help!
rooted eb13 twilight 1.01 kernel
I was having trouble with this lately then last night it worked, and it hit me- I had the stock battery in last night. I bought a 3pk of chinese batteries and a wall charger off ebay and whenever I have one of the aftermarket batteries in and i plug it into the computer it gives me some bs message about the battery not being stock and it won't charge it or let me transfer files or anything. So idk if you're running the stock battery but that is one possible cause for that problem. Running midnight4.2.
Try restarting your phone. This problem seems to be intermittent.
Running a stock battery tho had Bo problems with my yoobao andvive rebooted many times

Ok, so i had posted a thread some time ago where my vibrant was loosing charge on the charger, not only that i cant odin to stock, Ive reinstalled the drivers a million times, tried different usb ports and different ways to get into download mode, whats weird is that when its plugged in and in download mode nothing happens. odin doesnt recognize it or anything, but occasionally if i reboot it odins yellow box lights up and if i click it nothing happens. Also when it looses the charge completly it doesnt charge anymore for a few hours. Im currently running Project V with the gingerbread bootloaders. ANyhelps appreciated thanksss.
I have a question, how do you do to charge the battery??? do you use a external third party charger? have you ever charged your battery the regular way (pluggin the phone)?
Sounds to me like the USB port is brokededed. Have you got t-mobile phone insurance?

Yea ive charged it the regular way.
I am having problems charging my phone. They first started when I was using a 2.9ish build of trigger. When I plug in my phone to start it, quite often it will simply not charge or recognize that it has been plunged in, though it will recognize that it has been unplugged. The only way I know of to fix this is to reboot the phone, but after about a day, it will do the same thing.
To fix it, I Odined back to stock 2.2 and wiped the filesystem. Then I flashed Project V, but the problem remains. In fact I think it is getting worse. When I plug it in at night, often I will come back in the morning to find that it has turned off and has not even charged in the off state.
I'm not sure what is wrong or what to do, because I have already gone back 100% to stock, and that did not help. I have never used an OC or UV kernel. And ideas?
When it's on stock, is it charging normally?
Have you tried a different charger?
I haven't tested it on stock, but I've never had this problem with other roms before, and I've tested it on two non-stock roms. I've charged it with a large number of chargers and cables, both dedicated and through a PC.
EDIT: It had no noticeable effect. It also seems to crash if left plugs into the usb port for any significant length of time. I'm thinking that it is dead... Could it possibly just be the battery?
In a beautiful day, when I forget my charger at school, I used my PC to charge my cellphone ( just 2 days like that) and the cellphone was detecting like usual: If connected to pc it shows charging over USB, If connected to AC it shows AC. Ok then, so What is the problem? After One week, when I was travelling using the phone as usual the battey ended and cellphone turned off at 0% (perfectly normal), as soon as I was travelling I used car charger to charge my Zenfone (It is an 2A car adapter). When I connected the cellphone (I was on Stock ROM) it take more time to detect charger than usually (like when you connect it the phone instantly shows the battery icon when off) it takes over 20s connected to charger to show the battery logo, the phone was saying that 1/4 of battery has been charged (WTF it was totally discharged from 100% to 0% and when I put 20s it charge that much? This is not possible I tought). When I turn the phone on it was showing 30% OF BATTERY, I wondered how that could happen. (I alreay saw this bug on my friend's cellphones from other brands like Samsung & Motorola). Anyway, when I saw those 30% I saw the battery graph (wich shows if is on AC or USB) and it was showing charging over USB. BUT HOW THAT COULD BE USB, ITS A FRRAKING 2A CHARGER WTF ZENFONE. I tested on my sister's phone with same cable and same charger, it was showing charging over AC as well. When I finally get home I let it charging, after 1h30m it just charged 15% with Asus AC charger & at the battery graph still showing charging over USB, when I tried to connect it to computer the phone was showing charging over USB (btw it was ok because it was on PC) but windows doesn't said nothing was connected, no USB mismatch, NOTHING. I was on panic. WTF HAPPENED TO MY CELLPHONE. This day I decided to go to Marshmallow, soon as I have root and TWRP pre-installed (when I still have usb connection {3 months ago when I made root}) So I downloade RR zips, upgraded, everythig was ok, Marshmallow Running successfully. But one thing wasn't ok, the freaking charger detect. It was still saying "over USB" but it was on AC. Tried to go o bootloader, no answers from the phone either from windows. I bought an USB-OTG adapter, not working too. I bought an new microusb sub board, replaced it to the new one. No success, still saying charging over USB, no pc connection. Just one thing chaned: OTG before SubBoard change it doesn't even gave energy to "feed" the pen drive, mouse doesn't work too. This night was when I became freaking mad, I let it charging, when I turn the phone on it has just 25%. 6h Charging and 25%. I said to myself, this couldn't be possible, no way dude. I don't know what to do anymore, I'm desperate, is the only android phone that I have, already tried many chargers, many cables, many different computers, no clue of what happened with this cellphone. So is not an hardware issue (as soon I already had this issue, but it get back to normal by itself last time, I didn't do anything) but now it has been 1 month charging "over USB with short battery life. What am I suposed to do now? I tried repair battery life PRO, app from an XDA member. It says everything OK with battery, screenshot below: (translate: No problems founded). And another screnshot of the USB problem. As you guys can see my battery graph is sh*tty, never get to 100% in one day because of this issue.
@gadmei.tw @TecnoTailsPlays (New thread that I was saying).
Please anyone help me, I don't know what to do anymore . I always helped guys with other issues on RR and other rom's issues, now please I need you guys to help me.
Sorry for my bad english, I'm from Brazil and I'm nervous now.
Thanks XDA :crying:
I half read your story .I think your battery is miscalibrated. You need root and a app to calibrate it.
Say thanks if it helped.
Hey i was looking for someone who could help me with this strange issue. I owm Galaxy S5 G900F. Currently running stock lollipop rom (back from custom rom to stock to see if it helped my issue).
Everything was perfect on daily base and one night i plugged in my charger and nothing. So i first i thought battery is gone so i bought new one. Then i was checking port if its not dirty, no it was perfectly clean. I tried dozens different chargers, cables, pcs. Nothing. Even PCs don't recognize the phone. Battery percentage is not showing correctly (When i got new battery i fully charged in on universal external charger first, inserted battery and performed battery calibration from an app to wipe battery bin stats) and it's not showing correct discharge progress either staying for hours on 66% even tho i played hours of youtube videos.
Even tho i cannot charge the phone or sync it with any PC here is something extremely strange, ODIN recognize phone and i can flash stock rom via ODIN without a single issue!
Any advise are strongly appreciated.
Thank you for your help!
Ok guys, i dropped the phone to repair shop as i did not want to open my s5 without proper heat gun. The guy said it was the charging port. He said it was very unussual problem, because when the charging ports breaks usually nothing works then (regarding the charging and syncing) odin was not suppose to work either. Anyway it was the charging port. All good now.
Hey guys.
Since one week i have a problem with charging my OPT. I have used the original charger and cable all the times when i charge it during the night. When i connected it to and PC or Power Bank i used a USBC cable from amazon.
Since a few days the charging takes very(and i really mean very) long. Even over night(6-8 h) i get maybe only 50-60% in flight mode. I also tried the charger of my Pollux (~1,5A) also with no satisfying results. Before the unit gets warm during charge, but nowadays it stays cool.
Somebody had the same issues? Can it be the Ressurection rom? ( i am using it since may and it always charged properly)
Somebody has a workaround? or i have to send it in for repair again?
So firstly, you are saying you run a Custom ROM? Looks like battery stats are incorrect. Do to Recovery mod and wipe the battery stats. Also I suggest charge phone to 100% and then wipe battery stats
Try to charge with phone off and report back

I charged the phone all night off. It still is below 50%. I will save all the DATA and will install the latest version of the Rom. Lets see what happens. It seems the phone only takes 500mA. Maybe a USB connection setting is messed up...
Will report back
Hey screamor I had the same issue. I checked the charging speed with the "Ampere" app and it said that I only charge with 10 - 300 Mah , so I tried everything - airplane mode , underclock CPU and charge with phone off but nothing really helped but since I use Benchholds kernel 3.6 my op2 charge with normal speed and also the "Ampere" app says that the loading speed increased to 1300 - 1540 mah
Maybe you should try this also and report back if it helps you too
