Make sure you have clockwork recovery 3.0.0.6 when flashing your phone. It says 3.0.0.5 in rom manger but it really not. Pull the battery. Then when the phone is off. Hold down the volume down button and press the power button. It should boot up in the bootloader. Then go to recovery. Once your in recovery makes sure it says 3.0.0.6 at the bottom or top. Then check In the thread the rom you downloaded if you needs recovery 3.0.0.6 or not. Make sure the rom is completely downloaded same MB same md5 sums. If its not go to your phone and go to mount/storage mount the SD card remove the bad download by deleting it and drag and drop the newly downloaded rom. Ummount the sdcard then wipe data/ factory reset on your phone. Then in mount/storage mount/data, mount/cache, mount/ system. Format them each and then format boot. After go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache. After go to the rom you want to install and install it. Let it finish reboot system. Let the rom boot wait 5 minutes then you should be good to go.

[Q] i think i bricked my mytouch 3g...please HELP..ASAP..PLEASE

I have a original nytouch 3g rooted, just flashed to the cm6-rc2, it worked fine EXCEPT there's NO market app and gmail app. so i went online to ask and some1 said to install market and gmail i need to have Gapps installed and he showed me to go to Rom manager to get those. I went there and saw google app but to be able to install it, it said i must have the ClockworkMod installed first, so i did then it prompt to reboot the phone...i hit OK to reboot it and the phone just got STUCK on the Booting loop, never got to the home screen, i assumed i bricked the damn phone. basically, iam screwed..please anyone help me to fix it, PLEASE..thanks alot
Can u get into recovery or anything? That shouldn't brick your phone. U need to go to amonra 1.7.0 recovery. Forget that method of gapps. Just download and flash the link. People have been having a lot of problems with your method

well, i tried to turn on the phone by holding home+power, it went to this screen:
ClockworkMOd Recovery v2.5.0.1
-reboot system now
-apply sdcard:update.zip
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
-install zip from sdcard
-nandroid
-partitions menu
-advance

ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1
if i try to select reboot system now, it wont work, it'll will boot but got stuck on boot screen forever.
i did try to select "wipe data/factory reset" then "wipe cache partition" then select "intall zip form sdcard" then it takes me to my sdcard that shows this:
Choose a zip to apply
-Android/
-clockworkmod/
-dcim/
-lost.dir/
-update-cm-6.0.0-DS-RC2-signed
I select "update-cm-6.0.0-rc2..", wait for it to flash then reboot and the phone still gets stuck on boot screen, seems like nothing fixed..
I assumed the issue is the ClockworkMod messed everything up, but i just don't know how to get rid of it....
sigh....so frustrated...i had an iphone before and it's so simple, if you mess up just restore via itunes and everything goes back to stock.. anyway, please help anyone...please
Did u try downloading amonra 1.7.0 and flashing it?

Did u do a nandroid backup before u flashed the Rom? If u did just restore. If u can I have RA-sapphirev-1.7.0g as my recovery. Same phone as u. You're not bricked. Just need to undo what u did.

no, i didn't do any backups...stupid me..is there any other way to fix when i don't hava a backup?
Can you get your sdcard to show up on your computer? If you can. Try wiping everything in recovery. Re-partition your sdcard leaving the values as they are. Then download cyanogen 5.0.8 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=688262 putting that on your sdcard and flashing it to see if it boots up. Also this is the recovery you should have stayed with. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530492 and need to go back to. Page also has instructions on different ways to flash it. Let us know what happens. Use g version at top of downloads btw
Make sure that while in recovery you flash the 5.0.8.zip and then flasht the Google Add-on .zip before rebooting.
Actually I flashed them separate and all was well. Just trying to get you into the os so u can flash the recovery and get rid of Rom manager. If u can't get your sdcard on your comp to load another Rom to boot u might have to change your recovery through fastboot. Then flash new Rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719. More info on fastboot flashing ect.

thanks alot guys for helping, i got it worked again, though. i load cm5.0.8 on another sdcard and flash it, it finally booted to the home screen..however, when i tried to go to recovery screen again by holding home+power to flash gapps app, i still see the white "clockworkmod.." on top and bottom of the recovery screen though...weird..is there anyway to get rid of it??? cause' i think it's installed on my phone but don't know how to go in my phone to delete it. any ideas?? thanks
U still have that recovery flashed to your phone. Download the one I posted put on sdcard and use terminal method on that thread to flash

clock work is fine.... do u still see the options u have? install from zip? after downloading gapp or roms correctly... go into download folder, locate gapp or roms n flash.
by downloading correctly means... having good internet connection and not having data shifting from 3g to e to wateva. plus dont do anything else beside the download. if u lose connection or shifting in connection speed... cancel download n redownload...this will keep download file from getting corrupted during download process... for future referrence - u should do this to everydownload
we r here to help hopefully this will fix ur problem

[Q] Help PLEASE URGENT - stuck in cyanogen loop cant get to recovery! PLEASE

hey guys so today I finally rooted my HTC Legend, installed rom manager, made my backup using clockwork i believe? well i installed clock work, then i made a backup of my rom, now I tried to install CyanogenMod from rommanager and also installed google apps...
The problem is now..
When i turn the phone on it keeps looping on the blue logo with the elctricity going around...cant turn it off cant do anything, have to manually take the battery out and start it up again..
Im not sure how to get my original rom back on, but i tried to get into the recovery menu atleast..I can get to the fastboot, but when i go into bootloader, then click recovery it does everything normally, it shows the red triangle, I run recovery-windows.bat ( provides in Paul's tutorial at modaco ) and it says device not found..
EDIT: before I installed cyanogen, i disabled debugging mode for something, and I dont think i turned it back on :S I think it may have something to do with me not getting into recovery...what do i do! :'(
Put the Clockwork Mod Fake flash update.zip from the Development Forum on your SDCard and then go again in Recovery, until you see the red triangle. Then hit Volume up + Power and select flash update.zip. You should boot in Clockwork Mod Recovery then.
I dont even think you need to put fake flash on your card. If you choose to install clockwork recovery through rom manager its there. The reason your in a loop is that you didnt clear enough before installing CM 6. Enter clockwork recovery by volume up and power, it can take some trys. There factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache. Reinstall CM 6 + google apps and reboot. You should be good to go!

OMG! Thank you so much! I booted into clockwork, and am currently "restoring" to my default one when i first rooted..hopefully it works!
EDIT: YESS IT WORKS! I FCKING LOVE U!

Cyanogenmod 7 - Hanging at splash screen

I had an earlier version of cyanogenmod installed, I went into rom manager and pressed update (or something like that). It did the whole installation thing but now it's just hanging at the cyanogenmod splash screen.
What do?

Have you tried to boot into recovery ? (turning it on by pressing the power button and the - volume button)
Did you backup? Always, always backup.
If not try downloading the ROM and flashing that, don't wipe just yet, if that fails you will probably need to wipe and flash again.
ok so i did a recovery of the backup i did just before trying to install cyanogen 7
FFUUUUU.... now everything is pretty much lost! even the old cyanogen is gone. What can I do?!
Was your old backup from a pre 2.3 ROM?
^^ how can i tell?
sorry for being a noob
What was the ROM you backed up before flashing CM7?
the backup i did just before trying to install cyanogen 7

it was cyanogenmod 6.1.3
Ok, your problem now is that the file system changed from 2.2 (Froyo) to 2.3 (Gingerbread) and you will need to flash a new version of ClockworkMod Recovery to restore that backup.
Do you have ENG S-OFF? You will be able to flash it via fastboot, if not you will have to start again from CM7 and downgrade ClockworkMod Recovery from there, then restore your backup.
I flashed the latest ClockworkMod Recovery (3.0.0.6) - I think before I tried to install CM7.
Restoring the backup means almost everything is gone, apps, settings, etc (but not everything). Did I **** it up? Will I have to redo everything?
If I have to do that anyway I might as well use CM7, but installing that means the splash screen hangs (I had the same problem with CM6, I dont remember how I fixed it)
Your right, to flash CM7 you needed CWM 3.x.x.x
Restoring that backup 6.1.3 will take you back to pre-CM7 so yes everything will be gone.
Have you tried just flashing CM7 again?
ok, trying to install cm7 again...
Don't wipe just yet, if it still hangs after flashing again you will then have to wipe.
****, it's hanging at the CM7 splash screen again
Ok, you will need to perform a wipe.
In CWM you have "mounts & storage"
Format boot & system, then flash CM7 again, (btw which CM7 ROM are you flashing?)
I did that (through the recovery or w/e) and then it was hanging at the HTC logo....
I had to restore the backup once again and am back where I was before
What can I do?
btw it's CM 7.0.0-RC2
Ok sounds like a full wipe is needed.
Again in CWM "mounts and storage" format everything except scdard, then back out and go into "advanced" and wipe dalvik cache.
Flash CM7 again, it should work now.
can i flash CM7 through the recovery console? because if i wipe everything then obviously i cant boot back into it?
Don't worry you can't wipe recovery from within recovery, so after a full wipe it will still be available.
before I do that, how exactly do i install CM 7 from recovery console? I think it was downloaded to my SD card but I dont see a straight forward option in the recovery console

[Q] Installing CyanogenMod on Nexus S 4G?

I am a total noob and am having trouble installing CyanogenMod onto my Nexus S 4G. I barely rooted the darn thing, and I am using a guide that involves ROM Manager. It says I have to mount the SD card using ROM Manager, but I can't figure out how to. If there is a better way to install CyanogenMod, please tell me, because all the guides I have been finding are way too technical for me to understand, and I have been trying. Any help is appreciated.
Can you tell us which guide you are using and which step you are on? I think you must mean ClockworkMod not ROM Manager.

If you already have clock work then all you have to do is drag and drop cyanogen into the root of your sd card. Then flash through clock work.
ht tp://ww w.redmondpie.com/install-cyanogenmod-7.1-gingerbread-rom-on-nexus-s-4g-how-to-tutorial/
That's the guide I was using, I got stuck on step 4.
Is the rom the .zip file I downloaded from the cyanogen site, or is it inside the folder?
The rom is the zip file. Boot into recovery and select choose zip from sd and navigate to it and install it.make sure to do a back up and wipe cache, dalvic and do a factory rest before flashing the rom

Can you explain this part more? Is this the part of the guide that says "make a nandroid backup"?
1. Mount USB and drag and drop cm7 zip & Google apps into root of SD card.
2. Turn off nexus.
3. Boot into fastboot by holding volume up and then power button.
4. In fastboot go to recovery (power button is used as enter button, volume buttons represent up and down)
5. In recovery go to backup and restore and back up your current rom.
6. Go back and then wipe data factory reset and also wipe cache.
7. Go to advanced -> Wipe delvik cache.
8. Go back and then go to install zip from SD, find cm7 flash it, then flash Google apps. You can flash kernel right now if you want.
Hope this clears anything up

I got to your step 5, but when I choose Recovery, after showing the Google logo it briefly shows a box and an arrow coming out of the box and an Android logo, then the box changes to a triangle with an exclamation mark. It stayed like that so I just rebooted the phone.

That means you don't have Clockwork recovery installed. You need to download the latest Clockwork recovery image and place it in the tools folder of your Android SDK Folder(wherever you placed it). Then press shift and right click on the tools folder and select "open command prompt here". Then boot your phone into bootloader by pressing volume up and power button at the same time. Connect your phone to your computer via usb cable and in the command prompt you opened type: fastboot flash recovery name of recovery image here.img and press enter and you will see in the command prompt window it will say sending image. When it is done scroll down to recovery on your phone using the volume buttons and press power to enter. Your phone will reboot into Clockwork recovery and from there you can continue on the previous posts steps. Hope this helps. You can download the latest Clockwork by going to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1078213 and clicking on the brown "CWM Recovery" under 'How to: Root the Nexus S 4G'.
well I'm pretty sure I do have clockwork because there's a folder on my phone that is called clockworkmod, and I did root the phone successfully at the very least, but I'll try putting a new one there.

Alright here is a little run down on whats going on with your ns4g, you probably already flash clockworkmod on your nexus, but what samsung did was that it will try to revert back to the stock recovery. So what you have to do is flash Clockworkmod again to make it stick. Honestly it is good that it doesn't stick because then it would be easier to unroot the phone.
So now you have 2 different options on how to flash clockworkmod. 1) you can do it through fastboot but you have to have adb set up. I'm not sure what method you used to root your phone so i am just assuming.
2) you can download rom manager and flash clockwork through there. (Honestly i haven't done it through this method so i cant tell you of the pros or cons that are attributed with this).
NOTE: If you dont have super user yet it would be a prime time to flash it once you got CWM going.
For me, I only needed to flash clock work twice through fastboot in order to make it stick.
Good luck.
The guide I originally was using for this had me using rom manager, but it kept telling me I had to mount the SD card even though it was shown up in my computer.
If I were to flash clockwork again with adb setup, how would I do that? Sorry to be so asky, I just want this process to end correctly.
You have to set up adb if you don't have it already, go to ns4g development and go to vandam's thread that has all the list of rom's and rooting guides. Check out wolverines rooting guide, he goes indepth on how to set up adb. It make take awhile to set up but learning how to work in fastboot is essential in rooting the nexus.
Good luck

Well it was confusing and I almost asked for help again, but I finally got it flashed again and now cyanogen is working. I really appreciate the help and for pointing neon the right direction. As a final note, is there anything else I should know, like updating or something, just general knowledge (basically, "now what?")?

Did you get all the Google Apps installed too? That's the only "unusual" aspect of CyanogenMod.
Yep I got the Google apps.
Congrats dude its good you got it all working, BTW when ever you switch roms like from CM7 to miui you always have to wipe data, cache, and delvik cache. Delvik cache is in the advanced tab of CWM. If your just up updating from different versions of the same rom, you just need to wipe cache and delvik cache. That's about it, the hard part is done, enjoy flashing.

Actually if you are updating from different versions of the same rom, you don't need to wipe anything, you just flash it.

[Q] Cannot get to recovery after flashing ics

I recently flashed the ICS bugfilled build and I made a nandroid of CM7 beforehand. After a while I decided to try and nandroid back but cannot get to recovery. When I try it Hangs on the cyanogenmod screen and when I try to reboot it does the same thing. If I hold the keys for recovery I get to a dual boot menu and either option I choose does not work.
I have also tried the bootable clockworkmod sd to no avail either, it simply wont turn on when I do that.
Any Ideas on how to get back into recovery and nandroid back?
Edit: I got CWM installed but having trouble getting data to wipe?
I did this today and I just went straight to restore and didn't wipe anything and it worked fine.

What version? It should be 3.2.0.1 to properly wipe everything. I would start over with a bootable card to wipe everything and bring it back to stock.

Did you remember to set recovery boot partition to emmc, it defaults to external sdcard.
