Is there way to install new/full version of Titanium Backup on cm7 rom? When I try to install it over the existing Titanum Backup included in ROM it says that install can't be done.
Tnx guys!
I have had this problem before. Try uninstalling the TB you have now and install the new version.

What is the best backup method for the froyo roms we are all running?
I usually use My Backup Pro but it doesn't restore all my apps for some reason? Also used Titanium but ended up stuck at white HTC screen after a restore and even nandroid restore to clean rom install didn't work. Was I just unlucky once with Titanium? Can titanium backup SMS etc too I only saw apps it never restored SMS. Thanks!
Titanium Backup does it all for me.
SMS's, e-mail(accounts), wireless networks. (All apps, appdata and systemdata)
Can't think of anything it doesn't backup.
I always run a batch backup, this force closes running applications (although this is optional), so this might cause a white screen.
It's supposed to do everything you want, so there's no need to look any further (unless it really doesn't work for you...)

Mate, whar version of MyBackup Pro are you using? I know that there were certain bug fixes after v2.3.3. Im using v2.3.4 and it seems to work fine when backing up and restoring apps/data.
Try the later version.
2.3.6 so I guess it is some incompatibility somewhere. Just gone back to MCR 3.1 and it did the same. Probably less than half my apps were restored!
i can confirm that Mybackup pro 2.4.0 works flawlessly on froyo.. im backing up as we speank
If you have the native A2SD enabled on FroYo, MyBackup Pro won't back up the apps that are on the SD card.

i'm using titanium, not had any problems with backups. i use A2SD+ not the froyo A2SD though.
I use backup pro.
just make sure you have a partitioned sd card with can be done with rom manager or you will lose all your sd apps when you wipe before installing a new rom.
as i did..... haha
I'm a total noob so i need some information regarding the costum ROM. I've checked some tutorials on how to make the thing work. But i have a last question.
I need to do a full wipe in order to get the new ROM to work. So i will lose my data. I want to back them up, in order to restore them later on my new rom. So if i use the titanium backup. How exatcly do i make an backup to get it work later on new ROM.
Thanks for anwsers =)
There's no way you could just back-up your settings and then restore all of them if you want to switch ROMs because the applications would differ in each ROM and new data would be needed.
If you want to back-up your entire ROM (the original one) before changing ROMs <highly recommended, you could use the "backup" feature in xRecovery.
If you want to back-up your apps, I suggest you use Astro File Manager since Titanium Back-up will only back-up ONE APP unless you go pro.
Back-up can be found by clicking the Left Key>Tools>Application Manager/Backup
Regarding your settings however... Titanium can back-up your Wi-Fi settings or Contacts so maybe you could use that.
If i wanto install custom ROMs i do first is backup all of my phone things in xrecovery, so if i'm not comfort to use the customs i restore the fresh one .
for the contacts back up i export contacts to sdcard so i can import it for the new custom ROMs later.
for the apps and game i backup with titanium backup.
thats simply what i used to do before install customs ROM

if you have back up on titanium, after you installed the new custom ROM all you have to do is re install your titanium back up and you will see the back up apps that you have in the earlier ROM, and restore it.

oh and one more question. do you know what to do if i have a costum rom from racht alredy on my device and want to install another rom
i want to install a [ROM] 2.2.1 MiniCM-1.0.0-Beta2.1 port for x8 (update.zip). Can i just add the update.zip or do i have to go back to stock and thank install the new rom?
I have the latest version of JJ installed on the phone, but want to upgrade to Swedish Spring. I've downloaded Titanium Backup (free version).
Is it simply a matter of selecting the apps I want to save data for? Most important are numbers and SMS - what do need to look for in the app list? I understand that everything will be saved on the SD card.
When the backup is done I guess I simply copy across the fw for Swedish Spring to the SD card root, reboot, enter xrecovery and install. Then I root etc, but I don't have to reinstall xrecovery and Busybox again right?
Finally, I reinstall Titanium and restore - do I need to download the app off Market first, or will Titanium reinstall that as well?
Many thanks!
Using a Gmail account all contacts will be held on your account and when flash they get synced
SMSBackup+ on the market is best solution for sms as has auto backup to Gmail
Re: Software backup via Titanium
Don't reapply system/settings backups with Titanium on different ROMs as will cause issues.
Hope that helps.

If you backed up in backup/restore window the green colored "[DESKTOP] ADW.Launcher" and also [WALLPAPER/SETTING] Settings x.x.x" . These will save for the default app. Anything green in the backup/restore section are user/system settings then when you restore back, restore the Widgets first then restore the settings....
I backup everything green then restore and works good
thanks...once i install CM7.0.3 do I run titanium from the SD card? or do I download it from the market first then restore my previous settings?
If your upgrading for CM7.0.2 to 7.0.3 like you said you don't need Titanium Backup. Just boot into Clockwork and upgrade to 7.0.3 zip without clearing data. And all of your setting will be there.
Before you install the new version, make sure you have titanium first...pro version of course... then back up your stuff...what I do is batch backup all use apps...then go in and back up user settings...the green highlighted stuff. I then do into /data/apps and copy the ENTIRE dir to my sdcard..these are the apks that you have put there. Then do the needed stuff for putting cm 7.03, complete wiping and so on...Now you got a fresh copy of the new cm on...also when you are flashing cm...flash cm, then gapps then any overclock kernel you want...all back to back.. when it is done installing and a fresh cm is there, go into file manager...and install the titanium apk in your fresh /data/app ...I don't wait for market to download them...then do your restoring...first the apps and widgets....THEN your green settings...that should do it.

I tried but I dont know why this ROM is not rooted. "Eppy 0805"
I'll flash the more updated (1405) version and try to use titanium again.
I have the same problem with ARHD 6.3.3. on my HtcDHD.I liked that feature...
this problem also happened when i first flash the quarx build , maybe the sync mode still not perfect
