Bin file video streaming - Android Software Development

Hello everybody
I think that this is the right place to post this problem even because the developers knows better how an app is developed.
I have a laptop with a USB tv card connected to my network.
Using the software DistanTV supplied from Pinnacle, it is possible to live-TV streaming to PC or Iphone connected via wifi.
Now my question.
I have not any problem using my pc or ipod to watch the live TV streamed by my main laptop but I cannot do it using my Samsung Galaxy S !
When I try to do it with the Galaxy S, it starts to buffer the video but , instead to open the video reader, it try to download a file named PREVIEW.BIN....
I tried Dolphin HD and Skyfire browsers, even using the iphone or desktop user agent, but the result is the same.
Do you have any idea to solve the problem ?
You are my last possibility...
Thanks a lot !
Bruno from Italy.

Epic 4G Allshare preformance

Yesterday I started messing around Allshare on the Epic and had no problem setting it up. All I had to do was connect to my Wi-Fi, start the app, and WMC and XBMC both saw my device. However, I'm having performance issues with streaming video. When I try to watch a 720p video from my phone I'm getting stuttering and buffering, lower resolutions videos are a little better but the same thing happens. I was getting issues on my Macbook and PC, so I don't think it is computer issue. WMC and XBMC do not make a difference, I experience the same issue in both programs. I'm connected with 802.11n on WNDR 3700 router so I doubt that's the problem. Its either the Allshare application it self or the phone, maybe even the SD card isn't fast enough to stream 720p video.
Has anyone else tried to stream 720p video from your phone to another device, did you experience any problems?
The only streaming issue that I've had with the 720p video is my television won't play the audio properly, says codec not supported but I have no stuttering, and this is using a wireless G network.

It finds my DLNA server, I don't think it can connect directly to your shared drives, or drives in general.

If you have Windows, you're all set with Windows Media Player!

Does a 720p recording from the Epic's camera stream to your PC smoothly?
Haven't tried to the pc, but didn't work on the ps3
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I tried it with both Win 7 and PS3. The avi file that played on the PS3 didn't play on WMP. Videos recorded on the Epic worked on the Win 7 wasn't supported on the PS3. I had occasional stuttering and buffering problems (maybe a few seconds every 5 min). My wireless signal is probably only 50% at that location however.
doesn anyone know how to play it in tv... my tv is dlna but everytime i try to play it saids unable to play!? anyone?

[Q] 2 questions about epic and your pc.

1. is it possible to connect your phone (like usb mass storage) to your computer via wi-fi through my network? if so, how? i can sort of get streaming to work through allshare and windows media player but i can not move files , only stream.
2. i have not used samsung media hub yet because i dont want to sit there and watch a movie on a 4" screen. so my question here is , if you rent a movie on the media hub, can it be played on a computer either by usb or streaming?
to help answer these questions, heres my set up:
phone: sprint ( usa) samsung epic. no mods have been done to my phone, everything is factory.
PC: quadcore cpu , geforce gtx 275, 4gb ram, running windows 7 64bit. my pc is hooked up to a westinghouse 47" 1080p monitor.
Search for "xda samba android" in google. Should be like the first link.
I use Websharing and WiFi File Explorer. Look them up.
those apps you mentioned work great for photos ive taken or videos ive recorded, however it does not work with media hub. i tried streaming and it will not find the movie on my device , i hooked my phone up directly to my pc and the movie file is not supported by windows. so im still looking for a way to watch media hub files on my computer. any suggestions?
Nope..Media Hub has the DRM :/...and All share is not compatible..so that ends that.

Netflix work around plus more

you can easily watch highly quality Netflix movies plus control all of your PC with the app called
Splashtop Remote Desktop HD. Available from market the price is $4.99. Easy setup and the app works superfast for all purposes. Please hit the thank button if i have show you some solution.
Thanks,
Can u rewind or fast forward?
Thanks works really nice .... is there an option to turn of the display on the streaming server? I was streaming from my laptop and would like to avoid the duplicate display on my laptop.

It is like having your computer desktop on your tab. The problem I have is there is no sound. Check out the devs website faq.. Alot of audio problems. Support sucks imo. The desktop msnagement part works well. I am trying 14 day free trial of playon. It works with netflix, hulu and more.

Audio issues seems to be common there. I have one Win7 computer that has no audio issues with Splashtop.
And another with XP that's normally connected to a tv via HDMI. I get no audio from it in Splashtop unless I plug something into the front speaker/headphone jack. It doesn't even have to be speakers or headphones, just plug in a plug that's not connected to anything, as long as the Realtek software detects it and I select "speakers", I get audio in Splashtop.
Btw, this is a good workaround for Hulu also, if the solution in here doesn't work for you and you don't want to root the 10.1.
Have any of you tried playon it works well for hulu Netflix and streaming any file to your devices my only compliant is u can't skip around at all.
Playon is definetly the better option. Splashtop is good if youre on your own network or have a superb internet connection at both locations. Otherwise play on works a hundred times better due to the compression it uses.

Huh, I didn't even realized Playon app was working. I've had it installed on my htpc for a while, but when I tried the Playon app on my tablet, screen for hulu shows don't have a video to click. CBS shows had a tiny video on top that I can click to go full screen, but hulu shows didn't. Turns out that even without that small video, I can still click that spot and go to a full screen video. That's great, I bought playon before it went subscription.
Yes you can rewind and fast forward.
There is no sound issue if you go to splashtop website. The sound thing is not a issue its a small easy setting that you have to do on your PC. The support for this setting is very easy and step by step with pictures. Please chk that out.
Hey even I don't have any sound issues ... this is one of the best apps for the tablet currently. No performance issue or anything for me, it's now become a android/windows dual tablet

I'm new so I can't post links yet here, but Splashtop support has a workaround that involves changing audio selections and a loopback cable. "There is a special trick to work around the no sound issue on xp. You can loop back headphone out to audio-line-in by an audio cable like this: (i.e. on a notebook, plug in both holes of "headphone" and "microphone")
Also note that for XP, the checkbox for "mute this computer" should be unchecked.
Splashtop is great unless you want to use it to connect to a headless (no monitor) system, then it doesn't work at all. I wanted to use it to connect to my headless Mac Mini for streaming Netflix and stuff, but no go unfortunately.
Heh, Splashtop is awesome, I'm getting LIVE TV on my tablet. I realized that maybe it could stream SageTV (DVR) from my server, I just had to tweak the video in Sagetv from overlay to vmr9 and use the default audio. Non HD streams perfectly, HD isn't quite as smooth but watchable. Here's a couple of pics, one from the today's TDF on Versus non HD channel and another from their HD channel:

Btw, SageTV isn't available anymore. The company was bought by Google last month so maybe we'll be seeing some cool stuff them on Android or Google TV.

Playing 1080P/720P Movies - Enquiry

Hello,
I am planning to buy SGS2 OR Galaxy Note and was wondering if it can play 1080P/720P full length movies on it... All my movies are around 5-7GB in size.
Also, will there be a problem playing frm internal memory as it wont support anything greater than 2GB?
Plz post your expereince for "playing Big Files"
i have played 10 gb blue ray rips(full hd), via wifi streaming and it played like charm. Didnt tried copying things to phone memory, as you said the file system wont support larger files, but you can try formatting your card to ntfs or exfat with suitable mods, if you want to use those bigger files
The CPU/GPU cannot be beat by anything in the market for playing hidef movies. No matter the format or bitrate I can't find a file this phone can't play, and most of my downloads are 1080p high profile from my media center PC. BUT if you use fat 32 (default) you'll be limited to 4gb per file. Maybe use ntfs (search here)?

From the above, i see tht the phone can play big files with no problem and i just have to format my Sd card to NTFS... But wht about internal Memory? can it be formatted to NTFS - If yes, its simple OR i have to hack sumthing ??

For it to support NTFS, you need root and do some trickery. It is not straightforward.

A wifi router is simply enough to do the task. Yout pc dont need a usb wifi adapter.
All the data are transmitted from your pc to mobile via wifi router.
Once you have a wifi router on your pc to transmit data, you can try the following apps to play the movies from your pc to mobile.
1.VLC direct.
2.ES File Explorer.
The later one is much efficient
Hmmm... Wifi Router is big and pricey.
So, i think if work can be done with a portable USB Wifi adapter why to see anything else?
Plz can u do lil more explaining, as i really suck at this part of wireless technology and why i cant just use adapter?
@craige
Wifi router is not that much expensive, you can get one from belkin or netgear for cheap rates.
1.Once you install your wifi router in your pc, the work is pretty much done.
2.Connect your phone to your wifi.
3.Installed the above mentioned softwares.
4.Configure it and start watching movie from anywhere within your wifi range.
USB WiFi adapter will most likely only allow PC to connect to WIFI network. But you need a router or WiFi access point to host your wifi network. WiFi is not like Bluetooth where you connect one device directly to another.
So cheapest option might be wireless router or access point. It all depends on your network configuration at home, like what other devices you have and is there an empty Ethernet port on your main internet box (broadband modem).
Why not watch the movie on your nice big monitor? Or better yet, stream to a massive tv rather than a 4.3" screen. I can't see why I'd need this in my own home...

Installed ES File Explorer and now I can browse all the shared folders in my PC over WiFi but I can't seem to play MKV files. Do I need to install a different player app in the phone or should ES File Explorer do it?
Install MX Player, that should help.

Just about to say the same....
How do you guys stream 1080p mkv's smoothly, I just bought a TP-link WR1043ND 300 Mbps N router and on my phone it says I'm connected at 65mbps. I stream SD movies from my pc to my phone fine but HD movies stutter.
P.S. using ES File Explorer and Dice player

Playing videos from phone

Is there a way to stream/play videos to my Nexus 7 from my phone(HTC Thunderbolt). Due to the storage limitation on the Nexus 7, I figured this might be a good solution to get around it. I want to be able to stream the media without connecting to a network/router because I spend a lot of time commuting.
I've successfully connected to my phone by FTPing using 3G/4G by tethering my phone to the tablet. I can stably transfer files at 2-2.5 MB/s which sure as hell beats Bluetooth and should be adequate to stream videos. Using ES File Explorer, I've connected to my phone using the same method and it lets me play files directly off my phone using the MX Player. Great.
Of course it's not that easy or else I wouldn't have my this thread. When I try to seek it gives me an error, "Sorry, video cannot be played". The message is persistent once it shows up and the only way to fix it is to reconnect to the network.
Any ideas on how I can get around this limitation? I can't imagine I'm the only one who's attempted to do something like this. Thanks.
I installed samba filesharing (in play store) onto my Galaxy S (CM9). This allows you to access your phone's storage while tethered by wifi to it. No router is required. For playing the video I use BS Player. Seeking works well and even 720p mkv runs without a problem.
Great! I'll give that a try and report back with the results. Thanks!
edit:
It works! I simply installed Samba Filesharing on my phone then with my tablet tethered scanned using the LAN settings on ES File Explorer. Works like a charm. Thank you so much!
