I just realised that the newer the android versions become, the less compatible with WMA music files they become...
Android 2.1 Eclair (Stock ROM)- WMA files play like any other file with Artist and everything intact
Android 2.2 Froyo (Wildpuzzle 0.8 i think)- WMA files can still be played, but artist is unreadable(all it shows is Unknown artist even if I changed it to the proper artist on the computer)
Android 2.3 Gingerbread (CM7 RC 2)- WMA files can't be played at all, they just get skipped in a playlist
and this is not only for the stock player,I've tried PlayerPro and Meridian Player and the same thing happens. Is there anyway to fix this?(flashable patch or anything?)
Whats wrong with MP3 files?
Nothing's wrong with it,its just a pain in the butt to convert wma files after ripping a cd to mp3 files

sorry if this has been posted before, but is there a way to get the HTC audio manager to recognize and play OGG files?
Thanks
Sadly, I don't think it is possible...
I flashed the signed_music.zip using clockwork. It loads and plays music fine but if I go into astro and select an mp3 I'm getting file type mp3 no found. Any ideas?

Why dont you just install it from astro instead of flashing it

Use Root Explorer and just copy it to /system/app folder then reboot,or just install it regular with Astro or other file manager. One of these methods will work.
Where did you find a zip for the music player?
Sent from Epic(MixUp kernel)
Would like to know this as well. If you can provide a link that would be great.
I think his question is about picking an MP3 from the explorer, not trying to install the player.
Chances are that the Fascinate player is named MusicPlayer.apk. If you rename it Music.apk, like the original player was named, it might work. However, I believe that will break your Disc View.
Illogic is right, I'm having problems with file explorer/astro programs registering the mp3 file extension to fascinate muic player. As far as the other questions its not an apk file. When I get to a computer ill post the link for the zip, it came from the rom section from one of the rom builds. Oh and illogic, disk view never worked for me, any ideas? Thanks guys

Yeah tried renaming to music.apk and nothing, its not big deal to me.

I guess pushing the fascinate player APK isn't enough to associate MP3s with it. I hope later versions of Android will allow you to "Open with..." like you can in Windows.
I fixed disc view a week or so ago and, as far as I know, my ROM is the only one with it working currently. I don't mind sharing my seven herbs and spices though. Go through my thread and you'll find a .so file I uploaded, push that to /system/lib/ and make sure the Music player apk is actually named MusicPlayer.apk. If it's named Music.apk like it was the last time I checked Epic Experience, it will not work even with the lib.

There is a serious problem with flash player in all Desire HD, Desire Z, MyTouch 4G.
NOBODY PAYS ATTENTION TO THIS PROBLEM.. I posted this message 4 or 5 times. There is audio only in some video feeds such as www.foxnews.mobi, and in some TV apps such as SPB TV2. Is there any solution for this? I think the problem is the media streaming app.
The reason I switch to Android is flash, but the flash does not work. This is so sad.
Thank you.

Thank you so much, let's me give it a try
Well after installing The CoD RoM everything was great except when I try to play my .mp3 files! After aprox. 30 minutes after downloading any .mp3 file the Music Player says "File not supported"! Already tried installing other Music Player on Google Player but failed to play my .mp3 file :crying: So any clue how to solve this issue? I see there's no patch on The CoD RoM or maybe I did something wrong *Already flashed third time*
Try using poweramp, if it cant play no player can play, its your best bet I guess.
Is the file completely downloaded? It might be corrupted, try redownloading that file
I have no problem playing any file in COD ROM

Hello,
Today I noticed something strange.....I tried to copy a matroska (mkv) file to the sdcard (internal memory) of my P3100. The file could not be copied and the file explorer crashed. This happened everytime I tried.
I renamed the file (removed the mkv extension) and copied the file without problem. Then I renamed it back. The default media player was able to play the video without any problem. External srt subs also worked fine.
Has anybody had the same issue?
I own a P3100 (4.0.4 unrooted)

It might be the convert on the fly thing. Sometimes when I drag a video over it asks me if I want to convert it. I just click no. Might want to reinstall your drivers.
I don;t think it is a driver issue. Everything else works ok...
I always copy the files without any conversion...
As the problem is in this specific extension so i think the problem is in the fly conversion
