Thanks for your recommendation. I think eBuddy messenger is best choice, who want to use MSN messenger on HTC Desire.
MSNTALK is the best! allows grp convos! Theres also trillian
Mercury MSN is THE BEST EVER!!, send images/sounds, changes your nick/status/image, offline chat... [and it's FREE!! (or donate)]
In background practically have no CPU consumption
Is Mercury MSN is available on the Android Market? Can you share the link. After concluding all the instant messaging application for my Android phone, i think eBuddy messenger is the best option for me. Because it is the best solution for multiple accounts e.g MSN, Yahoo, GTalk, Facebook, AIM and MySpace. You just need one messenger to log-in to all of the above accounts.
Read more & install eBuddy Messenger.
Did you search in the market?

ebuddy messenger... the only one with push that works (trillian doesnt work.. at least for me)

For my the best app msn is Epinephrine (before MSN TALK)
Trillian is the right choice.
Beejive IM. The best IMO.

You've gotta go to the battery saving mode for C2DM push to work
Trillian and Beejive both have some annoying little bugs, but they are by far the best of anything I have tried. Beejive is a little on the costly side, but I used it back before my first android phone when I was a bit of an iSheep and it was very solid. They seem to actively develop it, though I haven't seen an update for a while now, which is disappointing when you drop that sort of coin on a mobile app.
I tend to swap between the two based on whatever mood I am in on the day, but I hope beejive will one day be as smooth as it is over in iphoneland.

Just installed this, cant believe how nice it looks!
But yeah theres an option now to start and sign in when the phone does, which is appealing because it would be similar to blackberry messenger.
But would this cause a serious drain on battery? Surely its no different to having GTalk running?
nimbuzz does not have push notification like GTalk or the nimbuzz on the iphone so it will drain your battery like mad because its constant connection to stay logged in.
the closes thing to bbm is gtalk atm. or whatsapp when they release it on the android
that sucks, no one I know uses gtalk lol. is whatsapp being released on Android?

Hows your battery life when using nimbuzz?
Whatsapp should be released soon but i dont see why people are paying for this app when GTalk does the same if not more and its FREE?
Ask your friends to install GTalk on their devices for now, they might like it =)
Because "WhatsApp" does not need special username or PIN.
You only need your phone number (in international forward) and that's it!
Very nice indeed, but when for Android????

When you install Nimbuzz, does it ALWAYS connected ?
Is it possible to run it on-demand?
Because I might interested in using it as "Skype" client ONLY. And use it when I want to use Skype-call feature.

nimbuzz is always connected and it does not support push notification.
i installed it to use skype but it doesnt support group chat so its a bit useless for me.
But generally skype does not support push notification, not even on there own official apps
Is it possible to turn the connection OFF ?
And only use it just to use Skype for calling (international) land-lines for example?

You can sign out which turns the connection off.
so you can sign in when you need to use skype and sign out when your finished
Does anybody see their own picture in conversation? I have in my account, but I /and frieds don`t see it.
I tried Nimbuzz today, but unfortunately I cannot use it to use my Skype account to call (non-skype) landlines / mobile phones
I know, for this feature I need full featured Skype client, correct? And it does not exist on Android !
Nimbuzz has been uninstalled ...
Do you have your mobile number associated with skype in order to send sms and call? I have and have no problems calling mobile numbers from Nimbuzz. I takes credit from my skype account.
Yes, I finally figured it out how to get that ...
BUT ... it is really buggy ...
It only worked for the FIRST TIME ... showing that saved number.
When I modified or added some more in the Skype PC application, logout Skype.
They dont appear on the Nimbuzz.
I tried to login-logout Nimbuzz ... it does not work.
I tried to remove Skype account and added again ... it does not work
I tried to uninsall Nimbuzz and reinstall ... it does not work
I tried to uninstall Nimbuzz, reboot phone, reinstall ... it does not work
Whatever I tried in Android phone with Nimbuzz, it did not "sync" (or update) the Skype saved numbers.
So, yeah, frustrated with this kind of quality of the Nimbuzz for Android.
Does it work on yours? The add/update Skype saved numbers ...

no, removing the account did not refresh contacts
Yupe, and there is NO WAY to refresh either
So, I guess I have to wait another update ... (if there will be any!).
Anyway, I tested to call using SkypeOut and the call quality is not that good, there was some delays at the other end (long distance international call).
But, certainly it is better than Fring.

do anybody here know how to get the free IM+ apps?
after done some searching at Google, they can only provide the free apps for 7 days.
there are some good free im apps already. I was using parlingo for a while, i liked it a lot, but I switched over to OZ IM. I think its a cab ripped from the HD2 or something. It just has a t-mobile sign on the home screen but works great. I use it just for gchat and I like how it carried the sounds and everything with it. the interface is much cleaner than parlingo too. you can find them here if you search the forum
New IM+ is also working with Facebook chatting.
Does Parlingo or OZ IM included this?
slick
www.lonelycatgames.com
-facebook, icq, gtalk, msn, yahoo, some more
free and very tiny
i use beejiveim
http://www.beejive.com/winmo/
aim, gtalk, yahoo, msn, icq, etc...no facebook though.
the problem is beejive doesn't support this version at this time but it works perfectly and it's lightweight.
Palringo comes bundled in with the custom ROM I use and I find that it works pretty well for me.
I'm using palringo, and occasionally the AIM app that AOL puts out. Having said that, the AIM app is extremely slow

Yes, Palringo includes facebook chat.
The one thing with OZ IM, is on certain phones/OS it uses text messages vs data. I know this cuz I only had 200 txt msgs and got a huge bill...
Hi guys,
I'd like to hear from you about your impressions and preferences.
Months ago I switched from eBuddy to Imo.im cause of massive battery drain in the 1st. Imo was massively better.
In your opinion, has eBuddy improved in the last few months ?
Does it reconnect aggressively and reliably when connection gets lost and/or acounts get accessed from a pc ?
I'm particularly interested in gtalk, (eventually skype) and facebook protocols effectiveness.
Thank you all !
It's been a while since I used eBuddy. I only have WLM contacts and I always use MSN Talk. It's by far the best MSN type client I've tried. I use the free version, but there's a paid version as well.
i'm using beejive and it's using Google Push, so the battery will not drain eventhough i on it everyday and night.
I prefer IMO.IM as it doesn't need that extra log in account, like in eBuddy.
IMO.IM is easy, fast, simple ... but it doesn't have groups (based on IM account, apart from Skype), and the Chat History is nowhere to be found although there's an option in Preferences to turn it on.
Do you see history anywhere??
i tried imo but i have problems with logging in and out.
i wasn't visible for people but imo showed me i was logged in.
now i use Trillian and it works fine.
ok it's not free but works perfect for me..
Too bad they dont mention which accounts it supports. Need to look it up later on.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
History is save in the IMO server. If you login in, then you can see it..
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Ahh, on server ... pretty useless ... I dont see any history on imo on Android anyways.
Still, I love that messneger. But still have doubts whether to use the build in Gtalk or IMO. Same with FB chat.
But good for Y!, MSN, AIM.
+1 on Trillian. Great app, and goes perfectly hand-in-hand with the PC & web clients!
First used ICQ for Android. This was bad. For a long time i use Meebo IM, which i can recommend. I did not try eBuddy&Co, but Meebo does not give me a reason to do this. IMHO the disadvantage, one cannot transfer files, is not that important.
I also use Meebo with Skype, quite nice
Used to love Palringo for WinMo but with Android, there are TONs.. have heard Meebo is pretty good, what do you all use?
primarily interested in: MSN, Yahoo, GChat, Facebook
I came from a blackberry where bbm ran the show, not I use gtalk. Makes it easy for me since I can monitor email and talk on my pc while at work.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
but can you add contacts from other services like msn and such?
I use eBuddy. Great program. Its free in the market
I use nimbuz also free in the market. Good app i cant send files and even do a voice chat on YM.

I like Trillian, it's not free though [$4.99]
Yeah, I am not against paying for one.. I instant message quite a bit, for personal and for work. What I really liked about my old MSN IM client for my last WinMo phone (TP2) was that you could send voice clips as messages. Palringo did the same thing except the audio clips came through as 3rd party links which was kind of a nuisance.
Anyone else?

+1, caught it when they were giving out the free beta and free updates, i love it besides everyone should know it can be found on the internet fringe somewhere floating around for the taking lol
I used newborn for a while, then switched to ebuddy. More relyable
Just found that IM is actually quite useful....anyone recommend me the best app for the job ??
(need to cover both Gtalk and MSN, yahoo etc)
which is the best ?
I actually like Trillian. Sure, it's $5 (used to be a free Beta), but it's got a boatload of features, is quick, clean, and integrates perfectly with Trillian for Windows. I can be using it in bed/on the sofa, then go to my PC and the conversation I've just been having is there ready to pick up and carry on, and vice-versa.
Use EBuddy, works great and it's free.
Xda app
Thanks chaps

Anyone knows how to remove this?

tried Trillian
Liked the look of it but had issues with it not letting me log into Yahoo, i could set my account ok but it would only connect for a micro second then diconnect, msn and google worked well tho.
shame
using Meebo at the moment as an alternative.
Also didnt like Nimbuzz much either

If you use Facebook chat it posts "on my mobile with ebuddy messenger" as your Facebook status without your permission. That's the one annoying reason why I stopped using it and switched to nimbuzz!

It depends on what you're after I guess in a client. I have Meebo IM, MSN talk and eBuddy.
Meebo IM and eBuddy have more client support. But as an MSN client alone, MSN talk is very hard to beat in my opinion.
Try IM+ and IMO.
After I tried all, they have proven to be most reliable and stable.
And have support for all IM services.
Peace
Mercury MSN Messenger is the BEST for MSN.
- MSN Features:
File transfer
Voice clips
Group chat
Invisible signin
Multiple MSN accounts
Logging to sdcard
Offline messaging
Show current song (MSN Now playing)
Improved Launcher (Widget)
Fling (or swipe) between contact lists and conversations
Events notification (message received, contact signed in)
Notifications: status bar, vibrate, audio, led
Chat with your MSN and Yahoo contacts
- Other Features:
Multiple languages
Start on phone boot
Very stable and regular updates
I'm using Ebuddy because it integrates all Chat Clients (FB, MSN, Yahoo, etc.), got a good UI. Had no problem yet regarding to facebook posts like "online with ebuddy", did never posted it. Only drawback I would say is that you cannot send files (corrent me if I am wrong), for instance you cannot take a picture while you are in the chat window and send it. Nimbuzz could do it (used it before), but its quite big (5mb).
