Yeah ive been using the Advanced Task Killer for a while now already.
I have read that usage of ATK is not required at all because of Androids near perfect RAM Management. And you also could come into trouble because android looses a small amount of ram capacity every time you use ATK untill the next reboot.
other than that you could try Juice Plotter and Juice Defender
find a app can auto turn on/off fly mode.
I ve tried Juicy defender, it seems not fit wildfire very well, some function not working. like auto fly mode, and auto turn off wifi when over 50M.
(btw,it will change your apn setting, cause me can not connect after uninstall it.)
after 1 month, I found navigation app take me 80% of battery.like google map/navi.

Not sure if these steps actually improve the efficency of the battery OR wheter the S/W behind the battery guage becomes more accurate as it goes through a process that alows it to better estimate the SOC of the battery.

Yup, even I have read a lot that Android manages the apps in a beautiful way. When I first used Android, the first question that came to my mind was how to exit apps as none of the apps had an exit button. Coming from nokia, sony erricson etc this was an obvious question to ask. Then after some research I found that Android just freezes the apps when we go back. The app is not actually running in the back end.
But anyway, yesterday my battery again went to 8% and on checking the used status, it showed that the android system used 92% of the battery lol.
One more thing I would like to suggest is that there is a Power control widget built in the wildfire. Its pretty useful to decrease the brightness, turn off gps, wifi etc from the home screen itself.

Thanks for this!
I installed this widget and it said that GPS was on even though it wasn't appearing in the tool bar along the top. I had run several apps that use GPS, but had assumed if the GPS icon was gone, GPS was off.
Is that wrong?
(good news if it is, as I was struggling to keep enough power to in my phone to get through the day without charging)

Avoid task killers like the plague. They cause more problems than they solve. Trust the android os to manage ram.
Just discovered the most powerful app I have ever seen called "Tasker". It its only £4, but will make your android so much more diverse. You can, for example, have it go into airplane mode between certain times (i have between midnight and 6am) but periodically check for sms or voice mail every hour. It saves stacks of battery.
I have it turning wifi on only when it knows I'm at home or at work.
I have it turning off wifi, dropping screen brightness down, and playing a louder notification when battery gets to 15%.
It silences my phone when I get within 100m of the two cinemas I use.
It is not the most easy app to use, be patient with it. Look up some of the "recipes" on the internet to get a good tutorial on how to work it. £4 is a steal for something so potentially vast. Its limited only by your imagination.
Oh and having run Tasker for 24 hours, (how long my battery normally lasts) only contributes to a 2% drain, and its adding roughly 6 to 8 hours extra! It would cost you ten times that for an extended battery!
I use an free app called timeriffic to auto disable WiFi

Try program JuiceDefender....you can download free from Android market.
my battery life is really awful too,i noticed it a couple days ago, that it drains to fast,so i started looking into it,and i found out, that my device won't go too sleep. so in settings/about phone/battery the awake time and up time are the same. i had similar problems on my hero, but there it was the messaging apps fault.
here, i kill everything with advanced task killer,it still can't go too sleep, android battery use shows, that android system is using most of the battery.
anybody else with similar problem?solutions? i have stock 1.25 rom rooted with unrevoked.
What? You mean your screen is permanently on? .....
Ive head bad things about using task killers too, I dont use on anymore.
Some things i have done that have helped my battery like quit alot actually is turn off Wi-Fi, Turm off GPS, Turned off haptic feedback(vibration when pressing buttons), Screen brightness to automatic & screen timeout too 15 seconds.
I can now have a really good fiddle with the phone and it can last more than a day without needing a charge.
As I understand when screen goes auto shut off, all apps are idle, even WiFi or gps is on. I tried with music on continuously for 2 hrs in flight mode, I still have about 80% power. With gps on for 1 hr continuous, I still have about 80%. With normal use my power can last the whole day.

no,the screen turns off,but something still runs in the background what eats the battery, and I can't find out what it is. I tried multiple task managers, and they show that everything is closed.i have it in flight mode, with everything turned off, still something runs, what shouldn't.
Did you solve this? It's happening on my phone now, and it's very frustrating.
(just installed ATK - very scary the apps I never use are running) and killed everything except ATK. Touch the power switch to turn off the screen. 15 minutes later, up time and awake time are still the same.

2 updates from me, to help anyone else with similar problems:
1) I uninstalled any recently installed or updated apps** and widgets now I have a 1:6 ratio of awake time. So, fixed?
2) In the meantime I logged a call to HTC via their website. Answer:
With regards to your problem, if the battery is going down significantly and you have turned of applications when your not using them and used task killer. It might be better to call us up so we cann look into it further and we might have to book the phone in for repair especially if you have noticed it not charging properly or overheating at any time.

If you are asking me, the answer is "about 6 hours".
I've (partially) fixed my uptime = awaketime problem. But I obviously have some more serious battery issue.
Hopefully someone else can chime in with happy battery life.

Hi friends.
I found the following coincedence.
When I install new build aparently CurrentWindget shows 60mA in stand by and no way to fix it to 5-7mA as it should be.
The solution which helps me to fix it is the following:
- enable GPS module in settings
- open Maps and wait for it to find where you are located
- go back to homescreen and put phone to stand by
It should be fixed now to 5-7mA current.
Hope it will help everyone.
I can even leave GPS module on all the time after that - standby current stays at 5-7mA level.

Very strange, but very cool if it works for you! I will give it a shot next time I see high battery drain. Thanks for sharing, it will help at least one other person if it helps you.
I've also found that switching Bluetooth off, then back on again, fixes this 60mA drain !
Common misconception: leaving GPS enabled in settings doesn't leave the GPS chip on the whole time. It just means that an app can enable it when it needs to (e.g. when you open Maps). As long as there's no GPS icon in your status bar, it doesn't drain *any* battery.
OT: that trick would be way faster than rebooting! Gonna try if it works for me too.
Really strange solution for this issue. I have the same problem but for this moment have drain about 5mA after quick boot with dualbootloader (wait time 3sec for Android load). For this moment 5mA in standby mode - with any enabled comm modules (WiFi,Bluetooth,GPS).

Why? I use it a lot...
To solve 60mA problem, each time you want to boot android:
1) when you are in windows mobile, lock the phone and turn the screen off by press end call button
2) wait few seconds and press it again to turn on screen
3) you see lock screen, unlock your phone
4) after that boot your android quickly within 10 seconds! (you can do it by creat shortcut of android on your home sceen)
I test it and solve problem for me on both mccm and mdeejay builds!

It was discussed hunderd of times. You dont need to free up mem in android 2.x
It has already a memory management built inside.
The only reason to use a task killer is to close an app that hangs or not properly close itself.
If you continue to kill your processes and backround apps just to free up ram, you will definitively drain more battery becaouse some of that apps will just load again automatically from SD or, when you open again one of them, it needs to load again from SD.

Exactly. And apps not closing properly is still not an excuse for using it. If the app is bad uninstall it or mail the dev to fixit, but don't go around screwing stuff up with a task killer.

Me to....i use 2!
Autokiller on agressive, and a taskkiller....never troubles with drain etc
Or everyone check my signiture for my thread on battery drain solution
I think the OP is really onto something here. I tried this trick & my drain has gone from a steady 55-65mA down to around 5. I'm impressed!
Just one question, those of you that having issues with battery drain what WM do u use? I've recently had a problem on my HD2 (no USB) and i installed a stock ROM. Before i had the VBN Droid Reloaded 2 and with Mdeejay kernel current widget never showed me values above 300mA (witch i believe i only saw that value 1 time). Usually i'd get from 1-2mA to 250mA tops. Now i'll never go below 60mA and i've seen the record of 600mA. Today it drain me from 95% to 35% in about 2 hours. A bit too much for my taste...
I always find if you boot Android with Win Mo fully booted, it's over 60mA, but if I use Exceller Dual Boot to boot Android before Win Mo has finished loading, then it's 5-6mA.
Yea man task_killer - problem
Everything is working for me fine, i am using futureShocks MIUI build, the only thing is when i switch on bluetooth, my battery drain is about 60-80 mAh without bluetooth i have 3-6 mAh... no task killer, no setcpu, with other builds like mdeejays sense roms this problem is not !?
Everyone an idea how to solve the problem ?
I am in need of help in dealing with games that keep eating battery life after the game is closed. I have downloaded different kinds of app killers and i do not see them on the list but under battery options i see every game i have played since i had the tablet on. Is there a better option or am i doomed to turning my nook on/off after every game i play?
I am new to all of this and may be off base here. But in all of my mind melting reading here I picked up Nook Tweaks off the market for free and from what I have read maybe some of those settings might help you.

I was having the same problem. I downloaded an app called 1 click cleaner. after its up and running I simply go into the app and click the cache clear button. after that it will pull up any aps or games that I ran. I can click them one at a time and force stop the app first then if i want I can also clean any cache associated with that app. It stops any apps continuing to run and draining my battery?
Some apps shut down properly if you use the back arrow to quit rather than just pressing the home button. Look for a quit button in those games.
I've had Opera stay running in the background if I didn't back out.

I tried this app today and it clears cache but does not bring up anything else even though on the battery use list there are games still running even when i hit the back button to close games. I have had nothing but battery issues ever since i rooted this NC ; / What is even more frustrating is i read on these forums how people are getting 2 days use out of the battery even with moderate use and if i do anything i lose 20-30% of my battery. There must be a way to get this set up right but i feel like only those in the know want to keep their secrets.
From what I've found, the battery usage screen on cm7 is not only applications that are running but also lists apps that have been running but are now closed. If the app doesn't show up in a task killer (I use ES Task Manager) it's not running. Certain games are high demand on the system and will drain the battery more quickly than reading apps (like aldiko) The last tip I have is to turn the screen brightness down. The screen is the biggest battery killer. Also, turn off wifi when you're not using it.
These are what I do and end up getting 2 days of moderate (low gaming high reading) use.

That sounds awfully high. What Rom and version # are you using? Also, what CPU governor and/or overclock settings? It sounds like something is wrong.
That said, I have had "rogue" apps that keeping restarting and usually just end up removing them because they weren't worth the trouble. Personally, I also use GoLauncher and in the applications menu it has a nifty screen to conveniently show the currently-running apps with a button to close them.
I am running cm7.1 and my governor is on conservative. I do not have it overclocked, its at stock 300/800.

ICS in Note
After upgrading to ICS via kies,
Battery seems to drain very fast.
Camera hangs up sometimes and other camera related apps like Instagram also but maybe the pic quality is little better.
It seems to crash when some other apps runs too.
Not sure if it was there before but I can pause music and video if I show my palm on the screen.
The screen rotates faster than in GB with a pause at the beginning though.
News fonts are good.
Window animations are good but still dont' know how to stop it since it might be draining battery fast.
Can use Chrome now and it's fast.
I cannot use Mass Storage Mode. I recieve a "Ui stopped to work" error.
I am facing,
1. High android OS usage. Sometime its higher than Brightness, and most of the time its highest usage of batt after brightness. (I read somewhere, it said its calculation errors, but I think its not, cause my battery no longer last that long.)
2. Camera will sometimes fail to operate. I really dunno what is wrong with that.
3. Phone just cant go into deep slp. Its being kept awake by some apps (Which I cant narrow it) Using BetterBatteryStats, I found out its I2_HSIC. (Whats this I2_HSIC ??)
I am using a 5400mAh mugen batt. previously on GB, my usage can last me 24hrs, now it can only last 16hrs or less. I installed lesser apps, and lesser widgets. Disable account sync and google backup. Settings more or less kept the same.

As far as #2 goes, go to your battery stats and see if "media" is listed. If so, force close it and try again. Seems to work for me. I'm not sure if it is just me or not because I have been playing with settings lately, but the media scanner tends to run wild it seems (also seems to lend to battery drain).
I am just disappointed that they left out some of the nice features of ics like the updated gallery and camera. Hi, everybody. I'd like to share (and hope others do the same) my "issues" found in the new firmware.
At the moment, after one day testing, the only thing I've noticed is that, when battery level is under 8%, the settings option that shows the apps that drained the battery return a "force close" or app not responding message.
I'll post new results...

it's because automatic disable from the device, preventing more draining battery source

I've installed the Illuminatic app from Google Play and it works ok. The only "issue" remaining is that led light doesn't work on stamina mode...
After let the phone charging all night, I unplugged it and tried to run the battery info option and it worked perfectly showing the discharging graph and apps draining battery. I suppose it could be related with some problem with the battery statiscs cause I flashed the new firmware that morning. I'll take a look the next time that battery level was under 10%. I must say, as something really positive, that battery life seems to be increased since flashed the last firmware. I'll post results.

There is an option under "Settings-Development settings" that let you manage the number of processes open at the same time. I don't know if changing something there you could achieve a less agressive memory management...

Some users said that setting the camera mode to "normal" (instead hdr and auto i+) it gives better results (in any case it makes you play with the scenes modes and the adjustments). After several tests you can check that it's a software problem, there are apps like ProCapture that gets a very good quality with the camera.

I'm trying to find something that helps but so far I've only tried installing Supercharger script and an App-Settings module for Xposed framework, but they didn't really help much.
Try adjusting the minfree values, I had mine set at 20/24/30 and the ram management was much better

I already adjusted them with the Supercharger script and some things do work better, but I'm having a problem with the keyboard constantly disappearing and not coming back for a few seconds, have any of you faced anything like that? It happens with default and third-party keyboards.
I have an issue since i have flash (with flashtool) the .245 firmware.
When the phone wake up, the wifi is blocked for about one minute. I see in the wifi icon that the upload is ok but not the download.
I have the phone for a couple of days now and I have flashed the Russian 245 firmware and I am noticing these problems:
- camera makes yellow pictures sometimes
- dark screen on wakeup button press - after another press it is ok
this is so far.

I have found that after a few days, stamina mode settles down and doesn't cause as many wakelocks. My battery life has pretty much doubled.
