I need help - Atrix 4G General

I really need help I need to know how to restore ALL of my apps and settings after flashing the SBF because I want to take gingerblur please help
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App

You can use Titanium Backup to backup all your settings and then restore them after you flash....

I've been looking at this but do I need an sd card because if it's backed up on the phone won't that be deleted when I flash the SBF but I don't see an option for ansd card in titanium
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App

What you do is, do your back up, after it's done, move your backup to your PC. After you do the SBF, move it back to your phone, and restore... this should restore all your settings and apps just like before it was flashed...

Ok thank you so much for your help I just started in with android about a week ago and I've learned some ADB and alot of stuff about flashing but this is the first time I've had to restore so thanks for your help.

So I just rooted

Hey,
So I just rooted my DX. I have milestone overclocker and titanium backup as well as ROM manager and wireless tether. Now what do I do ? I'm sorry for being a complete noob but I'm eager to learn. I have heard a little about flashing custom ROMs and was just wondering if there was one that is like Gingerbread (2.3) out for the DX. I just got this phone a month ago and I ready to jump on the Rooting Wagon

I would recommend looking around the Droid X android development forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=691
Here is where you will find a lot of the discussion and posts from Developers about their ROM's. I think Fission (latest is 2.5.7) has a gingerbread theme set up. I believe there are others as well.
When it comes to ROM's its really a personal decision. In my opinion, all the bigs ones (Rubix, Fission, Liberty, Cobalt, GummyJar, Tranquility, Apex) are all AMAZING roms. It's really just what you like the feel of... I personally use Liberty 1.0 right now. Its a combination of Kejar31 and Jrummy's work. There is a "new" dev team, phoenixdevs, that will be picking up the GEM series that cvpcs (one of the most amazing android developers ever) had been doing.
To start, just make sure you have a nandroid backup from Koush's recovery, and then try out the different ROM's you are interested in and see what you like best.
If I can make a recommendation about themes...check out Bignadad's themes... He does work for Rubix, Liberty, and GummyJar. Here is his latest work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=896403
If you have more questions, feel free to ask!
Thank you so much. You are such a big help. I have rom manager and did a backup but I was wondering how do I get nandroid?

No problem. You can grab it from the attachment below =)
then just move it to your phones sdcard. Use a file manager like Astro File Manager (free on the market) to browse on your sdcard. Press on the .apk file and then press the install option.
Then in your application menu, find the app, then click the first option (this hijacks the boot process the same way that ROM manager does). ROM manager has a built in version of this app and does the same thing. I just prefer to do it through Koush's app personally.
After you click the top button a pop up should come up with the word success (press this). Then click reboot recovery. From there, use the volume up/down buttons to move the green cursor that highlights the options, and use the camera button to select. Go down to Backup and Restore (press camera button to select), then press camera button when Backup is highlighted. (I am merely suggesting how I do it, as I don't rely on ROM manager for much personally. that and I dont remember how ROM manager manages backups... LoL).
It will do its thing, then bring you back to the main menu when it is finished. Click the camera button on "reboot system now" and you now have a working backup. They are stored on your sdcard in the following hierarchy: /sdcard/clockworkmod/backups
Then you just use that same menu if you ever want to restore using the restore option instead of backup =D
I also use Koush's app to install my custom ROM"s and themes as well. You just go down to the option that is something like "install .zip from sdcard" and then you can browse your sdcard for any ROM/theme/mod you have downloaded and saved there...
Hope this helps! Ask if you have more questions, I'm glad to help =)
Wow you made this sound so simple that I just did a nandroid backup on my phone for the first time! I have had my X now for about 4 months its been rooted since day one but I've never had the courage to go forward with roms. So is it really that simple , just dl the rom and flash it with Koushs bootstrap? If I flash a rom but want to update via ota to gingerbread I would just flash my nandroid using the flash rom from. Zip option? Im excited to start with roms I never ralized it was this easy to get back to stock!
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Also do you have to use titanium backup to backup apps to use in new rom, or can you use what is in the nandroid to reinstall apps on rom?

Thanks in advance

Yes it really can be that simple. just keep track of any backups you make, and always restore back to a clean nanroid for when OTA's come out, and you should be good. Just make sure if an OTA comes out and the bootloader version gets updated, don't go back to a nandroid with a different bootloader...you will brick your phone.
Example: on old ota (2.3.15) and update to 2.3.34. Then try to go back to 2.3.15=brick =(
Thanks this is great and so helpful

Depends on what you mean by 3g hotspot. There is "wireless tether for root" in the market for free. This allows you to tether using your 3g signal. The default Verizon app (don't think it is in Liberty...) requires a paid service... People have found hacks to get by this, but I don't recommend it, since it is cheating the service provider (Verizon) out of money if you hack their app.
I see no problem with wireless tether for root tho! Totally a dev's own work to get free tethering.
Thanks

I have been unable to root my DX, can you tell me where you got your information on rooting?

Rooted GB back to froyo fission

If I want to go back do I need to sbf or can I just restore a backup?
Thanks
Go away. If you have to ask you shouldnt do it
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
Too much changed to restore backup, I would definitely go with sbf. BTW, I prefer the Linux ubuntu cd method.
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
F off. I would just try it but will not be to my computer to sbf for couple hours. I didn't think so just thought I'd ask.
Thanks
Thanks d2user

flashing without loosing apps

Sorry, I am new and maybe this is a silly question. Can I flash a new rom without loosing my apps and their settings and my games and their saves ? Like backing-up all these.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
If you are rooted use titanium backup from market, but the fact you asked this indicated you need to study more before you start flashing roms
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
hahaha. Thank you very much for your quick answer ! Maybe you are right. The fact is that I already flashed my phone 2-3 times but never interested in backing-up. On the other hand now, I have spent a lot of time with it and I do not want to loose my apps. Is there something specific I should do with titanium back-up ? or I just back-up with this app and then, after I flash, I restore ? ( sorry haven' t used it before )
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Yeah you just backup before flashing, restore after. Bear in mind I don't think it is compatible between cm7/miui and samsung - based roms.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Well restoring app data can cause problems, but that is depending on what rom you are flashing to and from, and like any app you need to learn to use it I recommend paid version as it allows you to batch restore and backup

I am going to flash an oficial rom. 2.3.4 Don' t know which yet.

You may have problems with app data but I'm really not sure, you will know if you do because you will get a lot of fc of apps
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
thank you slaphead20 and jaju123 very much ! I will try to save anything I can with titanium. flashing is much more important for me.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Some games store their save files on the SD card (data or similar). So if you flash a new ROM, all you need to do is reinstall the game and you can start where you left.
Thank you !
ive never had any problems backing up and restoriing ONLY user downloaded apps between cm7, stock and miui using titanium. the only thing which would cause you problems would be restoring system apps..
if you wish to backup messages also and use them with other firmwares u could also use GoSMS, which has a backup function

Look for a thread in Hero(cdma) forums by a guy named Kuyoko he used Qpst but IMO would be easier to use a sense nandroid. Sorry i'd link it but am workin.

mind if i ask how this method worked out for you? i don't want to do a nandroid because it doesn't seem like cm backs up my ext partition, and it's quite a hassle restoring stuff.

Have you tried just rebooting after a restore? I found CWM would restore my sd-ext but wouldn't mount it the first time. If I rebooted it'd be fine. Or try just going into backups and doing an advanced restore of just your sd-ext partition.
^ Shift Faced
i did, and it's hit or miss. rebooting it several times seems to get it eventually mount, but after my last bout when i decided to leave the CM7 setup to try the new sense3.0 (didn't like it), when i tried to go back, i couldn't get it mount at all. later i found out, it's possibly my version of cm7 nightly.
it was too late though, since i panicked, and ended up carelessly formatting my sd. (lost my Titanium backups). this is really more of a user error, than anything else, but i'm still a bit weiry of switching roms.

Rooted, multiple users

If I'm rooted and I have two users on my tablet and I install a ROM where I have to wipe cache and system, will the second user lose all data from apps and games like the primary user?
Thank you..

I have not got the device, it might be worth going to the Nexus 7 forums and search if a similar question has been asked there...
However if you are just flashing the ROM ontop without wiping the device, then the data should be there... Best thing to do is Nandroid Backup and then test and find out yourself . If it has weird outcomes then restore
