Comparison of Arc and Galaxy S Screen. Looks good
http://www.xperiablog.net/2011/03/16/xperia-arc-display-versus-samsung-galaxy-s/
Easy win for the arc imo
On first sight the Galaxy might win, it's a bit brighter, and colors pop off, but compared to the Arc, it's just so unrealistic! The Arc really has a reality display, not a fake-fancy one!
S-AMOLED has a better black level, but arc's LCD supported by bravia engine certainly has a better display imo

I saw iphone4 screen and is beautiful but i dun think x10 is half that bad.
So what you guys think about our screen =) i sure it look great but is it not as good as iphone4 and why?
O ya i saw sgs screen is bright but i think is not as sharp as our=)
I like the iPhone screen, but would take a 4" screen with a couple less pixels over a 3.5" screen with more pixels. I haven't seen the SGS screen yet, but have heard that colours seem fake on it.

The iphone 4 screen is super amoled...same as sgs....therefore they will be more crisp than our x10. Plus right now the x10 is only displaying 65000 + colors....when we get 2.1 we will get bumped to 16 million colors which will give us a very nice display. Id still take my x10 over iphone4 and sgs...even without 16 million color display.

I like the screen... and ive got the same wallpaper on my phone that i have on my PC and the colours on the x10 are sooooo much better than on my LCD. Witch kinda sucks for my monitor but good for the phone lol

Right on...thanks for the info. I was thinking it was super amoled for whatever reason. Not an iphone/apple fan, so I don't really pay much attention to what they have....couldn't really care to be honest either lol.
It will be interesting to see what the X10 can do when we get 16 millions colors.
iPhone 4: IPS panel, superior color accuracy to other types, best viewing angles. The 4's display, as we all know, has the highest resolution (too high for my tastes) and true 16-bit color, around 1000:1 static contrast ratio (excellent).
X10: TN panel (most likely), at best 16.2 million dithered colors, decent viewing angles, decent contrast (nowhere near the iPhone 4).
Samsung Galaxy S: Pentile SAMOLED. Pentile is an awful technology that pretty much ruins most of the good in SAMOLED. The Galaxy S has outstanding contrast (50,000:1), insane blacks (as good as high end plasma TVs), and remarkable viewing angles (slightly better than the iPhone 4), but Pentile makes reading small text a headache for some. I kept seeing a slight "screen-door" effect with normal sized text too. Read up on the color inaccuracy of Pentile displays, and why the Galaxy S is not a TRUE 480x800 resolution phone.
Overall, in my view, the Droid/Droid X (haven't seen it in person though) and iPhone 4 have the best display with the LEAST compromises. The Galaxy S' blacks are sick though --too bad black isn't a color!
I have both an sgs and an x10. And the sgs display is way ahead of the x10.
The contrast makes a crap load of difference and the extra colours are very distinct. I have to stick to greyish wallpapers so i dont get colour bands on the x10.
Haven't seen the iphone 4 not available yet in south Africa.
Looking forward to seeing the x10 in 16m though. Should be interesting to compare

I have had both and I would agree that the Captivate is better when viewing photos or video. When viewing text though, I disagree. I much prefer the X10 for text (email, sms, web browsing, etc.).
I played with a Vibrant today at a Bell store what i noticed was that the blacks are indeed very good, the thing is though that the whites suck they are kind of blue not really white, in matter of fact there is quite a bit blueish tint going on.. The colors are very colorful lol but not real at all they are way oversaturated if thats the word. Also i can see the pixels from a mile away lol. Anyway the screen is nice to look at but its unrealistic and is bad for reading any kind of text wich i do quite a bit more than watching videos. Also the X10 screen looks bigger because the Vibrant's screen is a little wider and i dont really like that. My overall thought on the Vibrant is that it felt kind of cheap in my hand and also ugly. If it wasnt for the screen that pops out at you i doubt anyone wouldve paid attention to this phone even with the hummingbird cpu and the 512ram.
I just got an Xperia X10, and if this is a 65K screen, then damn, I mean the screen is so tight, no competition to AMOLED, but as far as LCD is concerned, it's lovely.
I wonder what 16M, would have done to it.
I love the screen on this phone. I hate the banding I get on some stuff but that is a separate issue not for discussion here.
This screen is bright and clear.
Every amoled screen I see looks to have a weird green tint to it.

lol I [USED] to LOVE my x10's screen.... until December 26th.. boxing day... when I bought myself an ipod Touch 4th generation with the retina display...
IT definetly changed my hole concept of the word "AWESOME"
X10's screen is crap.. brightness kinda sucks and the lack of 16million color is disapointing.. maybe ill correct this when bootloader is cracked and 16million color will be enabled but for the time being, it SUCKS

a screen comparison between the Desire, X10, Arc and HD7 (AMOLED, LCD, Bravia LCD, S-LCD)
Seems like in terms of blacks AMOLED wins hands down, but colours seem better on the Arc
and on a side note.....how is that x10 so fast D:
um...posted about it in this thread.

XPERIA Z2 VS XPERIA Z1 SCREEN COMPARE
Link here(source):
http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/02/25/xperia-z2s-ips-display-goes-up-against-the-xperia-z1/
The viewing angles are obviously much much better on the Z2, but some of the head on shots were weird...the Z1 were actually BETTER in some of them. For example:
http://www.static.xperiablog.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Xperia-Z2-display_7.jpg
the circle thingys have much more detail in the Z1.
http://www.static.xperiablog.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Xperia-Z2-display_4.jpg
The water has more contrast in the Z1
http://www.static.xperiablog.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Xperia-Z2-display_9.jpg
Same thing over here. Z1 is less washed out.
Is it because the Z2's screen is brighter?

I think you got it. This and the fact that we are watching at photos of the respective screens rather than the displays themselves. Camera images always bring some distortion in such comparisons. Anyway, the truth remains to be seen with a naked eye. :cyclops:

I think it's just because it's on the Z2 brighter screen.
Z1 looks better in some pics in terms of color. IT might also look better when facing the screen directly because of higher pixel density.
THE Z1 has an awesome screen when facing it headon, super accurate colors (more of all the IPS) ecc ecc... so head on it should be on par with the Z2...
How many generations does it take to build the perfect smartphone? In this video I will show you all differences between Sony Xperia Z vs. Sony Xperia Z1 and Sony Xperia Z2. What exactly has changed between models and is it worth upgrading?
Nice comparison. I'll be able to choose a new device from August, so I'll probably wait for the z3 by then

Great review!
Btw. is it just my eyes or is it so that the Z1 has the brightest/contrasty Screen out of the three?

For some reason the wallpaper is lighter on Z1. When you look at the video playback on all three they are almost identical. I have been looked closely at all three and the brightness is almost the same. The viewing angles on the Z2 are far superior though.

almost all camera gadgets are available in market, i have latest timeshift, AR effect(this with sounds), motiongraph and this cool blurred background mode, when you shoot two images and play with background, its a bit buggy but work
I really don't like the lack of soft-touch edge on the Z1/2 like on the Z. I understand the metal frame makes it more durable and more premium, but after holding the Z, the Z1 and up feel incredibly slippery in the hand as a result.
I generally like the design of the Z better than that of its sucessors.
The soft-touch was great, aluminum is generally a bad idea when there are antennas nearby and it really destroys the look iam loving the Z for right now.
The plain black monolitic all-around, with the frame that is like pebble-blueish when looked at in the sunlight.
Just great imo.
For me the Z1/Z2 are a step back regarding the sleek elegant design that was inherent to the Z, except for a few changes.
The flap-less headphone jack is really the only thing that i really found to be annoying about the Z, and the 3200mah is also a great step forward.
Other than that there isnt really much beside hardware-specs that was improved in my opinion.
Still missing such a feature like IR, maybe with the Z3?
Display was always kinda okayish when looking straight at it, and due to the bad viewing angles i dont need any kind of "privacy-filter" foil or similiar
Things that should get improved is the Picture-Quality in dark conditions and in macro-mode i hate that blur-filter that seems to destroy any little detail i was used to see on a lot older devices.
There have been Sony-Ericcson's Cybershot phones that are now pretty much "historical" that took more natural or even in general better looking images.
Its also sad for me to know that my five year old phone takes better macro-shots
Anyways, we'll see.
:highfive:
my xz is the best
It is like in the automobile sector. The first facelift is the best balance between price and features. All the bugs from the protoype version are solved. The features are not to overwhelming and the price is ok.
Z - Feels like a prototype phone. Has many things done good but also has many thing that just feel low quality...
Z1 - Feels like hell-a-lot of an improvement - better screen, and build quality. Still not perfect with those bezels and not as great viewing angles.
Z2 - *Z design brang to perfection* Great screen with good bezels and viewing angles.
I went to store with intent to buy Z2, the display model was abhorrent, the screen was misaligned, there were huge gaps around the screen and middle frame and if that wasnt bad enough the screen was flickering away. As a Z1 owner I couldnt help notice also that the entire look and feel was less premium than Z1. Im sticking with Z1 very disappointed as I was looking forward to 4K vid and display improvements.
