Cross platform video calls - Xoom General

Hi,
Is there any apps or solution that can be used to make video calls which work across multiple platforms?
For example, making video calls from Xoom to iPad2 and vice versa
That would be awesome.
Soon I will get Honeycomb tablet (either Xoom or Samsung) and my wife will get iPad2. It would be nice if we can video calls between each other.

Try Fring from the Android market. I successfully made calls from HTC desire to the iPhone 4.

I use Fring and Tango all the time with the wife and her iPhone4. Though I wish IOS supported gchat video. That seems to work so much better.

how good/bad are Magic to see movies whit? and how is it compared to iphone?

sicking tired of my iphone now, and its time to go back to htc. realy like the android os and have been reading alot about this phone. but i see many complain about poor video quality and laggy movies?
Is this true, is it hardware or software problem? if software can it be fixed or improved whit new video player from android market? kinda big deal for me since i use my phone to watch series and other shows.
Is there anyone here that have this phone and a iphone 3g that can compare em or tell me what they miss or didnt miss when they whent from iphone to magic?
need a kick in the back before i can go and buy this phone
Hmm.. haven't used iPhone and not tried videos off SD yet but youtube videos are gorgeous and work perfectly.. so the grunt for videos is there at least.
It is comparible to iPhone in video quality - iPhone has a slightly bigger screen though and has a wider choice of apps for watching videos. I've been watching tv shows on my Magic and have found it very comfortable.
You can use the same settings for iPhone for encoding video for the Magic/G1 and it will work fine. The built in video player is OK but only really has basic controls, there are other apps in the market that are not free (Act 1, for example), I am hoping there will be more choice in the future, divx player for Android would be great.
It is a real pain to get working video onto the Magic unless you have encoded it yourself - it is very fussy about size and bitrate. Most video podcasts that work fine on the iPhone (like Diggnation) don't work. In fact I'm starting to regret getting a Magic instead of an iPhone.

Totally disagree, any iphone/ipod movies I've downloaded work perfect on the Magic. Anything that I've encoded I use the highest settings for the iPhone 3GS and it works flawless. I use Act1 (which is free) and the stock Hero video player and find them great. My brother had his iphone here the other day and besides the size you wouldn't be able to tell the difference in quality or smooth playback.

Qik on HTC Evo 4G

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0jL5dwn-AE
Vid taken from Motorola Droid. Not sure how to embed it in this forum.
Playing around with Qik for a bit. I was under the impression that Qik is supposed to provide 2-way "vid chat", which it doesn't. It uses your Evo's FRONT camera (not the 8 megapixel cam on the back) or BACK camera to stream a live video to the web.
As you can see, there is noticeable lag. I don't think it's possible to view the live stream on another smartphone using either the browser or Qik. I can only view my live video feed from my desktop.
Streaming video hasn't been enabled yet, but *will* be a feature of the service in the coming weeks(ish)

Video chat hasn't been implemented yet
Whats stopping another evo 4g user from opening your feed from his phone, and you vice versa while you are both streaming? It would be a few seconds off but eh, it beats waiting.

Well it would be something more like 1 minute off if you're both on 3G I'd think.

[Q] qik video chat

I'm deciding weither to get the MT4G or wait for the Desire HD and I had 1 question. I know you can't video chat with the Desire HD but can you receive video chats via qik or any other programs? It seems the only feature missing on the Desire HD is the front facing camera, other than that it seems the Desire HD community is a lot more happening. Thanks!
There is no network video chat with froyo. Rumours say it will be enabled with gingerbread.
You can however video chat with fring.... so I presume other apps would allow it to.

What is the best video chat service for droid x

I'm currently using tango and it's great, I'm just wondering if there's anything better. Fring, qik? Google video chat, yahoo video.
Tango works great for me

Droid-X as a webcam

i know there are all kinds of apps that do this but can someone tell me one where i can get audio and video and it be in sync and not super delayed?
i would like the highest res video i can get with still getting 30fps
i can use usb cord to my pc that dont bother me.
i will use whatever method that needs to be done.
everything i tried so far = fail
im running latest nightly CM7
my home wifi router dont do wireless-n (only b/g)
anyhow i would really love to use the droid-x as a real webcam with video and AUDIO that is in sync and somewhere close to 30fps and not a 5 second delay
thanks
I looked for something maybe 6 months ago to make the DX a decent webcam, but I gave up. I found that the apps with audio support lagged too much, while the apps that played back smoothly had no audio support. Best bet, buy a better webcam for you computer.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
we know the DX can record at 30fps at 720P in good lighting.
wonder why we cant get a good stream at 480P with audio in sync?
someone probably just hasnt figured out how to do it yet.
