I sincerely don't understand why you come here if it's just to denegrate everything android, why ( and no I really am not trying to make this personal), but whenever someone points out an advantage over IOS we have some fan boy coming in to "rain on the parade", what you can never say anything positive about the android operating system nor the community, on a frigging ANDROID board. Dude, you made a retarded statement and people called you on it. You literally said that one of the reasons you like Android more than iOS is that on Android your device won't get updated for 8 months after the public release of an update, and then the community would have to patch together a competent update to fulfill the needs of the users. Compared to Apple where you would have had the update as soon as the update was available and you would continue getting updates on the day of their release for 2 years after your device was released.
How does that make any sense?

Th point I was trying to make, and granted it seems I might have failed, is that we in the android community do not live in a closed system, if either the the OS doesn't do what we want OR the hardware has been artificially limited by the manufacturer we have a large community that has the opportunity to change things based on the overall openness of the operating system, apple's IOS does not have that because they have a closed oppeeating system, granted they seem to not have needed it near as much due to the overall completeness of their operating system, but this might not always be the case.
I prefer an overall open operating system to a closed one, at least when it comes to mobile technology.

I can't speak for other forums cuz most of my time is spent here. The developers here don't have any obligation to share their work with us. They do it voluntarily and for free. Do you really think *****ing is gonna accomplish anything? Do you think developers appreciate that? I know the developers here are too smart to be influenced by ungrateful users, but its still ridiculous to see. If you don't like the way the developers handle their work, run the Froyo OTA and be done with it. See how well a massive corporation's work stacks up. This community cares more about what these phones can do for us than Sprint and HTC combined. Think about that the next time you feel like lodging a complaint. You're right about one thing, I was angry. However, this wasn't a rant about people asking for a Froyo root, not sure where you got that from. It was about people who show no appreciation for the ones doing all the work here. I wasn't just complaining about complaining. I was complaining about people that expect everything to be handed to them and then whine when things don't go their way. Getting this off my chest was all. I feel like I have a right to do that.

Not being rude or anything like that, but have you stepped outside into the real world lately. Complaining isnt limited to this forum and phones in general. It is done everywhere, you hear it at work, at school, at home, you name it people are there complaining, you just have to take it in stride and not lose your cool.

Yes I have. I deal with constant complaining from someone I work with everyday and ive always ignored it and nothing ever changed. After finally getting fed up with it and calling him out, the complaining has stopped. Being too passive gets nothing accomplished and wont change anything.

There has been talk of code theft and just general trashing of an app on the market that is a parallel project to one here on XDA, HDMwIn. These accusations and trash talk are being put in bogus review comments for the app.
Some have gone as far as buying the app and immediately returning it just to have the ability to leave a bogus comment about how it doesn't work or that it's stolen code and go get the teamwin beta. Such juvenile behavior is frowned upon by serious developers, users and testers.
I am requesting that forum members conduct themselves in a civil matter and if they have proof then please post it. Otherwise it serves no benefit but to boost the ego's of those that are acting in such a childish fashion.

Agreed. I was attacked on the market by idiots on a certain forum for using someones icons they use and release freely in their themes. They didn't contact me directly at first and resolve the issue. Instead they sent their femble minded followers after me. It was very unprofessional and unappreciated. I eventually talk to the main person and things were easily resolved.
Sorry but some people r too much of a ***** to confront the person privately. They prefer to try and ruin them and discredit them instead of resolving things peacefully. There should be a maturity level around here. Some of there hardcore followers don't even know what's going on they just follow instruction from the main person cause they r weak minded and retarded

Regardless of the situation it shows your true colors to insult the developers that have made so much development and progress for our EVO's. All of the countless hours they put without charging a dime. This orrebmas guy comes out with HDMI first and then steals the teamwin design, and charges for it and hes a hero. Grow up and appreciate what teamwin has done without ever charging a dime for douchebags like you.

I officially give up in the vibrant. It seems like the big devs gave up due to Samsung fail. I enjoyed the run tho. Will soon be switching to AT&T when they get a phone equal to the EVO 3D or just a Dual Core HTC phone...preferably with a ffc. If AT&T doesn't come thru, EVO 3D it is. No more Samsung phones for me. I learned my lesson with this one

1.) This is vibrant general. So that's why I have to derail u on the "wrong section" tone that u have. That's what they made general for.
2.) I am unsatisfied with the hardware defects this phone has as well as tmobiles service. How do u pay the same amount as someone with 4G when u only get GPRS.
3.) I've had a better experience with HTC phones due to exclusive CM dev support for my phone as well as other HTC phones. Honestly it doesn't take a whole bunch of lag fixes to get it running likebits supposed to. My mytouch 3g w/ cm5 oc at 574mhz didnt lag like this phone. Don't get me wrong, this is a sexxy ass phone but not happy with it no more

That's what a forum is for......constant unecessary flaming here has caused devs to leave xda. Why u think they all have their own forums? Try that same stuff in the cm website forums or teamwhiskey forums and I guarantee u, ur voice wont be heard becuz the MOD will delete it.

youre not going to win this battle.....this is going to sound rude, but i speak the truth: no one cares if youre giving up your vibrant. just like no one would care if I gave up MY vibrant.
this thread is useless....its almost flame-bait. what was your purpose behind starting this?? to gain an anti-vibrant following in the Vibrant General section? To send a subliminal message to the devs that they are not producing up to your standards??
it must have been something along those lines, because you starting a thread "announcing" to everyone that youre giving up your Vibrant would be the equivalent of J.P. Arencibia holding a 1hr ESPN special announcing that hes retiring from baseball......how necessary would that be??

I'll hold on to my Vibrant for a while (2-year contract, bought it at launch).
2.2 gave it new life and I'm happy with the phone right now, bugs and all.
Example #1 on why devs left xda. People like u like to 1-up others to make urself look good. This post don't have to have a purpose. Please click the back button if u don't like it.

I actually agree with TopShelf. If you want to leave, then leave. Even Eugene, who is one of the most influential devs for this phone, never bothered to create such a pointless thread. Most of us realize the power of the Vibrant with a few mods here and there, thanks to the wonderful devs that have acutally contributed to this community rather than ***** about it.
Just to say, if you want this thread to die, then don't post in it. This will surely be my last post in this thread.

I generally don't chime in, but if you gave up on the vibrant, that's your choice. We don't need a post about it though. If your running sammy software than you haven't unlocked the potential of the phone. I've run most of the mods available and most of them have made the phone 10x better than stock.
Cyanogenmod is a brand name. It isn't automatically the best. I just drove a 2200 mile trip. I have the vibrant running bionix with overstock (and I under clock it to 800 mhz because it's still perfectly smooth), and my wife had the g2 running cm7. Wanna know something? I could pick up 3g signals in places she could barely keep edge.
Vibrant for the win.

First off, let me say that the XDA site has been a godsend. I've learned more about my phone's capabilities in the last few months than I could have ever expected.
Having said that, the Epic 4G community is seriously lacking. I've rooted and custom rom'ed a few friends' phones recently, an Evo, an Incredible, a droid eris, and a Droid X. It was shocking to me to enter their forums and see all the wealth of information and plethora of choices. CM7, MIUI, roms galore. Then I come back to our forum... and... yeah. I appreciate all that the dev's have done for our phone. I can't even remember how much my phone has improved over stock, but I think it's crazy how undersupported our phone really is. It's got all the potential in the world, but the comparably weaker Evo is getting all the love from sprint customers.
That's why I pre-ordered the Evo 3d from best buy recently. As much as I love the screen on the samsung and would love to have the SGS2, I just can't risk getting stuck with a phone that has little to no support again. It's a shame. Best of luck to those of you who stick with this phone. Hopefully the trend of established developers leaving slows down because it's been very disheartening to see our already meager dev crowd dropping like flies.
On to bigger and better things but still thankful for all the support for the past few months. Take care.

Anyhow, the reason I posted this is because I have a strong feeling that there are plenty others on this forum (whether they are lurkers in the dark or randoms that post one-liners just to bulk up their post count, or even the dev's themselves) who feel similarly. Our phone had all the potential in the word. But, between Samsung's ineptitude and our comparatively small dev community, this phone never came anywhere close to its potential. It's sad that my girl's banged up antique droid eris can flawlessly run the latest CM7, yet my phone shi*ts a brick if I try to load netflix.

You were party of the community that it sounds like you put nothing into. You justifiably got the same from it. I hope you learn this before you go stink up another community.

I have to admit, this made me laugh too.
Having said that, there are two things I didn't do for this forum.
1.) I didn't develop or theme, wish I could have, but it's going to be a long learning process.
2.) I didn't post every time I coughed, sneezed, burped, pooped, or grabbed a bite to eat. I didn't think it was necessary.
But I did do the following:
1.) Visited this forum and other XDA forums very regularly, which is how the site makes its money. Sponsors don't pay for post counts, they pay for page hits. There are likely exponentially more visitors than posters.
2.) Donated. For those dev's whose Rom's I used, and themers whose themes I enjoyed, I donated money. And, I'm pretty sure that's a large incentive for why they do what they do, as Noobnl so eloquently displayed.
3.) Referred, literally dozens and dozens of people to this website, which adds visitors, page hits, and sponsor money.
So, you're right. I never developed a ROM that you could use. But, until now, I also didn't waste bandwidth with nonsense or ETA queries. Once again, I didn't start this post as a swan song or with the hope of warm condolences; I was just curious to see if there were others who felt the same way.

I am having a hard time justifying this comment. My friends want me to search for roms on their phonesand when I look I find a ton of pretty much the same roms written by different people. Can someone who had done this on other phones explain what the bonus to having 40 roms with 1 feature current versus having 5 stable, working roms that can have features added. I'm not sure went over-saturating the dev section is considered better support. Was the EVO so bad off that it need 40 roms?

I understand the OP, but honestly, I had an evo running cm7 and my epic with srf 1.0.1 would run circles around it. Im pretty sure the same will happen with evo 3d and gs2.

Okay, so I am really getting sick of seeing 'which ROM is the best?' people need to realize it creates jealousy, devs work hard on their ROMs, and when they read these posts/threads and don't see theirs, it typically bothers them. And usually it creates arguments. There needs to be some form of warning system, like, you get 1 warning, and get an infraction or something to provoking arguments. This is just MY opinion though. I'd go more into detail, but I am super limited on time. I'm sure you guys see my point.

I don't see the problem with people genuinely wanting to know what others think the best rom is. There is a lot out there and not everyone has the time and/or desire to test out every rom. A lot of us base our rom choices on what is most popular, I know that is what got me to try out myn warm back in the day. If someone's rom is not mentioned they just need to suck it up, if anything it should motivate them to make theirs even better.

1. XDA is forum for developers, not users.
2. Prove to me that Warm is better than any other sense 1.0 based ROM. You can't. If you try, I will through some garbage linpack or quadrant standard number at you with a screenshot and everyone will piss and moan. It is personal preference, nothing more.

seriously, it takes like 20 minutes to flash a ROM, then another 30 to see if you like the looks and another day if you want to see how it settles in. I've flashed over 5 in a day before while working. It really isn't that difficult to make up your own mind by reading the OP and flashing a ROM suitable for your needs.

Yep. All ROMs are different and will react differently with each phone. I could go tell you guys to run decks reloaded with the mason kernel and undervolt it by 150 because it runs PERFECT on my phone, but then you could come back and complain about how it froze your phone and you had to reflash the ROM. People also use their phone differently. So it's pretty stupid to ask which is the best. THERE IS NO BEST! Why? Because each phone is different, each person uses their phone differently, and each ROM is unique.

Well, it could potentially be misleading. Everyone has an opinion, and has the right to an opinion about ROMs, but something that runs beautifully on one phone could run like crap on another phone, which results in an angry user, which results of potential arguments about what's "the best" which results in anger and devs getting jealous and promoting themselves.

I play music professionally and like customizing my phone. On the forums I frequent dedicated to bass gear there are always threads created by new dudes asking, for example, "what is the best amp". There are literally 100's of options nowadays and only your ears can determine what is "best"
Pretty much the same for roms.

Thank you dude! Plus, the amps will be in all sorts of environments, do you want to buy a half-stack for a 20 foot room? I wouldn't think so, unless you wanted to blow windows and eardrums out! Plus, the sound resonance and mids/highs/lows will all be different, because of different walls, floors, settings, room, etc. I feel you.
