Is it possible to port HOneycomb on x8?
There is already thread for this. I personally don't want it. I want fully working Gingerbread.

What? How would you know if it would run slow on the X8? They said the very same thing about Gingerbread.. Honeycomb isn't just for tablets. There is a mobile interface for it too.
Honeycomb has a lot of new upgrades which would surely slow down the xperia x8

No, someone ported Honeycomb to Xperia X8,check the Android Development thread under the SE Xperia X8.
Android 3.0 or HoneyComb is made for Tablets.
There's a so called "mix" of Gingy and Honey, the
2.4 Android.
And I want a fully working 2.2 with multitouch driver.

This would really, really suck if we did not have the awesome dev team we do! How much u wanna bet Honeycomb will be running on the HD2 before the end of summer this year?

Honeycomb is for tablets... at least at first. We'll be getting Ice Cream Cone, which is 2.4, by the end of summer, which is actually released after honeycomb as is made for phones, so it will probably have more and better functionality for us than honeycomb would.
If we can only just port the UI graphics acceleration part from Honeycomb, that would make any custom rom based on it very slick and smooth and might also saves more battery power by sparing the cpu from certain tasks.
After the release wait some days/weeks and you will see the first port from our nice devs
It was my understanding Gingerbread already offloaded the UI.

For XperiaTM X10 mini, mini pro and X8 there are as communicated earlier no plans to update beyond the current Éclair version. There are two mains reasons for this: The XperiaTM X10 mini, X10 mini pro and X8 all have less RAM memory than XperiaTM X10. By this we can’t guarantee a good user experience by upgrading beyond Android 2.1. The upgrade of XperiaTM X10 also was made possible due to that we had a code base that mostly could be reused. For the mini’s, who have a different user interface, this possibility did not exist.

Max RAM i got with gingerbread is 90 MB and with froyo 111 MB,they skiped froyo, all their devices will run gingerbread so they dont want three devices run froyo, very simple.
But they want their devices to run Eclair? Yeah, hell lot of logic included...

I bet SE is lying again.lol
Hey guys,
I just checked my girlfriend's X8 has this latest software update available (start of July 2011). I think it's now the 3rd update or so, the first being Android 2.1, the second something with Nike-Chip and the ability to cut videos and an office suite.
But somehow I can't find details on what this current 3rd update does (though it's a pretty popular phone?)
Has anybody checked it out already? SE's Backup-And-Restore-App always screws up the contacts and calendar entries, so I would like to know if it's worth the pain.
Edit: Oh and it's a branding-and-simlock-free X8 from Amazon ;-)
SE is full of bull****! They won't update our devices to Android 2.2 because they don't want! I'm using the Froyobread rom and i have 94MB of ram free. If they don't know how to work on their own phones, simply deliver the development to jerpelea, racht, doixanh or anyone able enough!

Sorry, don't dream. Froyobread is better than SE 2.2 (if ever exists)
now, i really don't like SE, they don't give us update to froyo or ginger maybe they think that we want buy their phone with official ginger support.
but thanks for the nice phone, our dev is more creative than your staff!

Hi
I was wondering whether there is a honeycomb port in the works!?
I know that it it's still closed source but there have been some honeycomb ports before and I am curious what it would look like on a 4.3 micro tablet display
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Its a tablet OS, so I very much doubt it.
Closest you will get is rixsta's honeycomb theme which is being worked on as we speak.
Why would you want a tablet OS on a phone anyway?
Flashed a Honeycomb ROM when i had a HD2 and most things didn't work or function properly so pretty pointless really to have really.
Forget Honey comb, Its the Icecream Sandwich you should be looking out for..

As mentioned before, it does not make sense to develop Honeycomb for phones, because in fall Gingerbread and Honeycomb will melt in Android 4.0
There only has been development in Honeycomb desktops for phones ... just the look.

Head on over to the Sony Ericsson website or check the PC Companian software if you own the Xperia arc. There's a new software update available which adds new themes, a landscape mode for the homescreen, stereo audio in video recordings, an audio boost system called xLoud and ...
Is there some one who can get this and make a flasheble rom threu xrevory so we can get it on the x10 ???
Sorry for the bad englische
wrong forum...
I so want all these stuff in X10 and remember the words of Mighty Bob the builder
YES, WE CAN
if we could get the update software maybe we could use it on our x10 phones
I guess SE will give us some little software updates with bugfixes and maybe new features.
I doubt they'll be bringing it to the X10... It brings a lot of new features. Every time they update the X10 the owners have one less reason to upgrade their phone. I think it's really nice they brought 2.3.3 to the X10, but I don't expect them to give it much updates aside bugfixes...

who is asking SE to give us....I guess our devs can make a .zip file of this update optimized for X10
Maybe we will have a large discussion on SE Forum and ask them update Xperia X10 to Android 2.3.4 again lol. And because the information that SE was testing Android 2.3.4 on X10 so I think this will be. And include in this update is all the update of Xperia Arc :erk:

No. Both still work the same way besides multi touch and the fact the arc has a new processor so its really easy to port. Trip ported a Rom before official 2.3. From the arc

Easy?! It's hard if you don't know how, and if you want to make it run fast without lags it is even harder to do... And because the Arc has a newer processor it doesn't mean that something is easy to port.
I hope some one will get it that would be very nice

Well there is no official update for X10 by that time sadly.
But Sony has announced that the 2011 phones will have the update, which I think devs will be able to port it onto our X10s. Moreover there would be a CM version of it as well.

I watch Google i/o all the time and they did say that they will be releasing it for low spec phones. But the problem is SE. They wont want to spend money on a phone from last year so I hate to say it. The X10 will not get 4.0 ICS officially but unofficially yes we will.

I hope it can become a reality in our x10 ... Our devs have done a great job. By Sony Ericsson we can't expect anything because they said they will not upgrade beyond 2.3, remember that they said the same thing with the upgrade to 2.1 and now we have our phones with 2.3
I'm fine with SE not releasing 4.0 for the X10. It's an old phone and I don't expect SE to bankrupt themselves just to do so. Gingerbread is pretty robust and there's a huge number of apps that work with it, it's not going anywhere for a while. I think the only other phone from that Android era that will get 4.0 is maybe the Nexus One.
However, since the '11 Xperia range *is* getting ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich), they are probably going to use the same kernel (2.3.32 - based on their prior history). With that said; Their's absolutely no reason why the devs won't be able to port ICS to the X10 (unless if Google does a 180 and doesn't release the source code - like they had with Honeycomb). As far as an official 4.0 for the X10, I doubt it and there's no reason to get anyone's hopes up or else we're going to have another full on XDA SE X10 revolt like before, haha.
It can change but I think ICS will see the X10 only through the devs.

The x10 now has a unlocked bootloader.
So it may be possible for someone to port it.
