2. Once PC detects phone, execute SuperOneClick (search SDA for SuperOneClick app)
3. Download and install BusyBox from the market
4. Install Galaxy S Unlock from the market
5. Launch Galaxy S Unlock then choose "Unlock"

Remember to add apn network settings for your carrier.

okay im having problems unlocking sgs on ugjk4 on sgs unlock app i get sorry no code found unknown error ??
that app no longer (or is having a hard time working) with FROYO firmwares. I used it to unlock mine when I was still in Eclair.
Maybe you should revert to a stock Eclair? Anyways, once you have the unlock and freeze code, make sure you write it down and save it in your PC.
Note: When I flashed to Froyo using Odin, network locked re-appeared and I needed to punch in the exact code I got when I was in Eclair. Now, It's totally unlocked. No more unlock code after that initial flash to Froyo.
Wish you luck!
okay new too this please understand i think got what u mean but how would i revert back to eclair never did this!!! so basically your saying be more easy to go back eclair then root it then SGS unlock will work then write code paper update back to froyo and unlock would work still.....is this correct ??
update
i think figured out why get error code silly me forgot put sim!!! okay now what Sim must be inserted SGS unlock app (original Sim that phone locked to) or any Sim will do sorry i am new to this was i phone user for while

With or without sim, you should be able to get the code since the code itself is for the phone and is embedded in the phone.

hmmm....then 2.2 sgs app doesnt work??any other ideas i dont wann downgrade just 2 unlock???
It's not a permanent downgrade. Flash back to eclair, unlock your phone, write down the unlock code and freeze code then flash back to froyo.
Don't forget to back up your EFS folder to your SD card and laptop.

[Q] SuperOneClick vs OCLF
Hey Guys, I have the i9000m through Bell Mobility, and today I rooted it using SuperOneClick. It ran and said completed successfully, and installed a SuperUser app on my phone.
What is the difference between this and the OCLF? Does SuperOneClick include some sort of "lag fix"? Is one method superior to the other?
Cheers!
OCLF does lagfix your phone, yes. However, it is outdated. I would recommend you to try z4root and z4mod.
I've heard about Z4 from a few friends, couldn't find it on the Market so I went with SuperOneClick. Thank you for the suggestion - I will probably try this one if I need to do it again.
I've also learned that most third party ROM's include LagFixes in their Kernel, eliminating the need for them in the rooting process.
Are there any real differences in the rooting apps?
What is your end-goal?
End goal, to educate myself on a few fronts of Android phones. I'd like to have enough knowledge to root, and install new ROM's (which I can confidently do). I'd also like to have a good understand of reverting to factory ROM and settings (if you could point me a to a descriptive thread on this it would be much appreciated!).
Just wondering if one rooting method is superior to the others
Hello, can anyone of you help me please? I see someone mentioned z4root. Now this is my problem:
I downloaded z4root, ran it and it seems like it started but after few seconds my phone just vibrated and then it turned me to my home screen, which means i wasnt able to root.
Could anyone be so kind and help me out with it?
My firmware version is 2.2.
Thanks in advance
Sorry - haven't tried it myself. But, you can use SuperOneClick if you like with a simple instructional video

[Q] is superoneclick safe to root?
Hi, I want to root my froyo JPO with Superoneclick in order to install lagfix,
but the main problem is my 3 combo buttons not working..
Is it safe to do so?
I would work on getting your 3 button combo working before attempting any type of modifications. On the odd chance something goes wrong you need that to enter recovery mode or download mode. I believe there are a few faqs on it around the site.
As for super one click, I've used it several times flawlessly

Agreed. There's a reason the 3-button fix is a pinned post in every i9000 forum. Fix that BEFORE doing anything.
WRT superoneclick, I've also never had any problems with it although your mileage may vary. Note that there are easier rooting solutions available although none appear to support as many firmware versions as superoneclick.
superoneclick android drivers?
Hello, i plan to use superoneclick to root my galaxy s phone. I went to superoneclick site and it said "You NEED to install make sure the Android drivers for your phone are installed". Now i have installed kies drivers, is that enough or do i need to install other drivers? Also, i have adb installed.
someone please reply...
Hi there,
I am not able to find which root options work for Bell Atrix 2.3.4 (System version 45.2.17.MB860.BellMobility.en.CA).
Thanks very much in advance!

I would just like to confirm for anyone reading this thread. I got this working to Root an Atrix 4G (Bell -unlocked to Rogers). Let me know if you have questions. I spent hours trying to figure this out and this post helped very much.
Yes, this one does work. My Atrix is rooted as well on Rogers network. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15872818
Thank you very much everyone!
Notes for other beginners:
-In CMD window, you need to hit "Enter" after each command line
-Before you do step 4, you need connect your Atrix to your PC first
-After step 4, you don't need to unlock your phone. I was confused if I need to unlock my phone after reboot.
-If you have rooted previously, you will get an error message in CMD screen after run the last command. Something like "Superuser folder already exists..."
PATH=/system/bin:$PATH pm install /preinstall/Superuser.apk
It happened to me. I just unplugged my phone and rebooted. It seems working great!
By the way, I did not see my list of applications in Titanium Backup after reboot. I thought something went wrong. However, I rebooted my phone again and I can see the list of applications in Titanium Backup now.
Thanks again guys!
Pete's Root Tools worked perfectly for me on my Bell Atrix 2.3.4
Thanks for pointing me too the correct group.
Made a small guide on my experience with Ubuntu (most distro should work though) with Bell Atrix GB. Now lm rooted

I found a way faster than rooting with complicated toools
(ADB is neccesary or it wont work)
1. Unlock bootloader at htcdev.com
2. Then push via fastboot...CWM.img
3. Download a program called Unlockroot
4. Connect phone with debug mode checked and click root
5. You will get a window with your phone model and click on it a voila....rooooted!
Hope I could give the community my 2 cents of knowledge
Did your Htc legend been rooted before following this method? I think it works fine with rooted legend's but i never see a legend user, that has never rooted the legend doing this, thats why i'm asking this? teoricaly should work becuz once we get the LEGEIMG.zip done we loose the root but i'm just asking... Did any Non-rooted user try it out?
Cheers.
Thanks
Easy steps, thank you.
I will get a try.
Yea, it is possible. You can follow steps in this link.
barrenfrozenwasteland.com/2012/03/installing-cyanogenmod-on-htc-legend
I can boot into Recovery afterwards.
worked
worked for me perfect!!! thank you very much....i was surching for this for a long time and couldn't find an answer...:good:
i must ask, if my legend can't be unbootlocked via htcdev is there an alternative?
Hello everybody,
I am pretty new to android, always had iPhone before, and JB was very easy for me.
Now I am trying something new I got a S4 from "ATT", it was already unlocked when I got it. Using H2O as a provider.
Reason for me want to root my phone is so I can screen record on my phone and need root permission.
My Current firmware version: PDA:MK2 / PHONE:MK2 / CSC:MK2 (ATT)
I really don't know where to start about this rooting, I tried to fallow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283918 and http://androidtechy.com/index.php/2013-04-28-19-55-53/how-to-diy/48
How to root:
Download root explorer or EsFile Explorer
Download the Root Exploit Here by XDA Developer djrbliss
Download the GS4 Drivers here
Ensure USB Debugging mode is enabled on your device.
Connect your device to your PC via USB.
If you are using Windows, navigate to the extracted directory and execute "run.bat". If you are using Linux or OS X, navigate to the extracted directory in a terminal and execute "./run.sh".
Approve the ADB connection from your PC on your device.
Reboot and check if you have root using the Root Checker app from the PlayStore
Note: If you dont have root the first time, go back to step 5 and try again.
I've been doing that but ROOT CHECKER still says that I don't have root. (Tried run.bat) 3 times. said I already have Root.apk on my phone.
Is this the only way to root my phone, or is there a newer way since those guides are from 2013.
That's why you should stick to guides here and not some random online guide. Search up easy Root and be done

H2O runs on AT&Ts network, so it runs just fine on a sim locked AT&T phone. I wonder if the OP thinks the phone is unlocked because of that? The best way to find out is to put a Tmobile sim in it.
This guide is for those of us that have devices that have been updated to the new bootloader 4 firmware which prevents downgrading to a firmware compatable with most sim unlocking tools. Firmware versions that suffer this include PH7, PJ2 or PK1 for s7 and s7e (s7e=edge for purpose of this guide, s7=g930x, s7e=g935x).
This method was used personally and tested using a sprint s7 g930p on PJ2 firmware. Your mileage may vary
This involves rooting and will trip warranty status flag. If you have another rooting method different from this thread that wont void warranty or trip KNOX please use that instead.
After this guide you can use a unlocking method of your choice a few that work will be outlined later and also a few to avoid. I also recommend having a copy of your stock rom in case anything goes wrong.
Part A: Setup
1.) Download Root_S7.zip from the bottom of this post, extract the files so that you have the folder Root_S7 with files inside it.
Copy this folder to the root of your phones internal storage and leave a copy on your PC also so you can run(double click) Root_S7.bat in the later step.
2.) Download and setup Package Disabler and use it to disable the following: (should be about 5 apps total. This step not 100 percent necessary but I found it made things easier)
Anything that says Knox
Anything DM (all of them)
SecurityLogAgent
3.) Go to Settings>About Device> and tap "Build Number" 7 times to enable "Developer Menu" then enable "USB Debugging" and "OEM unlock" in the Developer Menu.
4.) Power off the phone completely, now hold Home and Volume-(down), keep them pressed and power the phone on.
5.) Press Volume+(up) when prompted to enter "Downloading Mode"
6.) Connect USB and wait for all drivers to finish installing on PC.
7.) Download SM-G930x_Engineering_BOOT.tar.md5 or SM-G935x_Engineering_BOOT.tar.md5 (choose correct file for S7 or S7e).
8.) Open Odin3 (Run as administrator), then select the above file in "AP" slot, then press START on Odin3, the file will be flashed.
9.) keep phone connected to PC as soon as the system identifies the device Double click "Root_S7.bat that is inside Root_S7 folder that you extracted on your PC. After the phone reboots automatically it is rooted. (it may take a couple tries due to the phone bootlooping, once successful SuperSU will be installed)
10.) Open SuperSU app and go to its settings>Access> and change it from "Prompt" to "Grant". After you have changed this setting the phone should only reboot 1 more time.
11.) Proceed to unlocking
NOTE: If SuperSU prompts "update su binary" you need to run the Root_S7.bat again, and/also check that you have copied Root_S7 folder with exact same name and location as the picture below. Do not use the SuperSU from playstore use the one included in the zip.
You can now unlock using idoneapps or you can PM grsjohn.
After unlock I suggest reflashing stock rom to remove root and restore functionality.
Part B: If you decide to pm Mr. grsjohn.
1.) On a windows machine download and install TeamViewer 11 and Usb redirector
2.)In Teamviewer click extras>options>advanced>show advanced>install VPN driver (its close to the bottom)
3.)Contact Mr. grsjohn. Prepare to donate because Mr. grsjohn is awesome and is doing this with his own resources and free time. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks to and beers for

grsjohn for sim unlocking. :highfive: And gets my endorsement.
