[Q] custom rom from SD - XPERIA X8 General

Basically i installed a custom rom from my SD card but if i take SD card out would that affect the Rom or will anything happen to the phone

Hmm not something I ever tried but it shouldn't cause issue. Once you flash off your SD card all of the data goes onto your onboard phone storage.

i did think that but i just want to make sure that it wont damage the phone..

Help-my memory card disapear from device and pc

Hi.
i was working with my blackstone, and Suddenly my memory card disapear.
i know this can happen whem we are flashing a rom but this wasn`t my case.
I try to format on my pc with my card reader but he doesn`t recognize the card.
Try to flash original rom but with no success.
is there a solution fot this?
Thanks
Same here, just went to a store and purchased new SD Card, the old one is gone. Another thing I've rad, that the SD have to be out when flashing ROM. I work a lot with Flash Memory (disk-on-key) and noticed that Flash Memory is not a trustworthy data keeper, it day they can just stop working and nothing you can do about.

[Q] Old HD2 ROM still there?

I installed WM7 on my HD2 that was running a custom 6.5 rom.
After I installed it though, WM7 keeps telling me that there isn't a lot of space. When I checked, there's only 6.5mb free. Is there a way the old ROM is still under WM7, thus taking up so much space?
I always had a ton of space on 6.5 to install apps/games/etc. (I did a "factory reset" of wm7 annnnd then it sent my phone into a never-ending bootcycle.)
So my question is, how do I wipe completely the old WM 6.5 ROM to fresh install 7 and save all of that space?
Also, my old boot image from 6.5 still shows up when 7 was booted.
Check your SD card. Might not be compatible.
There's actually no SD card in there. I'm talking about just the straight up phone storage.
(I'm using my 16g SD card for my Android phone and don't feel like backing up/reformatting right now).
That is why. WP7 requires a sd card to be in the phone so it can use it as if it were internal storage.
Oh gotcha.
If I just have my SD card inserted when I flash WP7, will it do the rest for me?
And does the SD card need to then remain in the phone for it to work properly?

Yes, you need the sd card in there when you first boot wp7 (you don't need to reflash, just hard reset it with card in), and the card must remain in the phone anytime you have wp7 on. If you turn on wp7 without the card or take it out while booted in to wp7, you will have to restart. Also, wp7 will format and make the card only readable by wp7... you can't take the card out to use with a card reader or for anything else. It's only usable with wp7.
yea i saw somewhere that the WP7 regular phones with sd slots make the memory "expandable" but as it formats and uses it in conjunction with the nand partition it is not "removable"...
Which is why the HD2 has a couple of plus points compared to a native HD7 in which the sd card is actually hidden underneath all the casing which you cant access..

[Q] flashed wm7 to phone instead of sd how to fix

i have an hd2 and flashed wm7 to the device insteadof sd card. how do i fix this all help is very appreciated thanks
Are you serious -.-? Windows PHONE 7 can only be installed on the phone (NAND)!!!
am i right in thinking you installed WP7 to the device and your SD card isnt in use?
assumeing you had the SD card plugged in when you installed it then i am affraid your SD card isnt compatible, you will need to try another card, try stick to class 2 or 4 sd cards, unfortunately there isnt a list of working cards because every card is different and may or may not work
if you didnt have the SD card in then thats why the SD card isnt used, it needs to be present when you flash it
finally, if i have got this mixed up and you want to install to only the SD card and not the phone itsself then im sorry but it cant be done yet/ if at all
its true forgot to put in the sd card all together and it flashed to device... it works but no space for anything to save. dont know what to do at the moment. flashed magldr and then ppcboy wm7 like i said works reallly well just cant save anything and access the sd
If you do a hard reset with sd card in the phone should be all set. Wouldn't have to reflash anything. Just make sure sd card is in phone then go to settings, about, and click on reset phone. Should format on first boot and everything should be all set.
Answers my question I've been looking for. If I can flash my other hd2 that the sd card socket is broken with wp7. Already running it on the one I use all the time.

Flash ROMs with sd as internal

Is it possible when you make as cars as internal storage would you be able to flash ROMs or will it brick the phone?
Using the latest TWRP (3.0.0.0) you should be able to flash roms from your sd card being used as internal storage, it also prevents you from losing access to the sd card after you flash a new rom (I use my sd card for internal storage as well). I havent tried flashing anything from it, but I cant think of a reason it wouldn't work.
