Streak stock 1.6 (donut) music player? - Streak 5 General

Can anyone who is on 1.6 get the .apk for the stock music player, I really liked the two tab system and no music player that I can find replicated that.

http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/manii/112/update.zip (this is the entire update package)
I dont know which is the music player exactly (or if it requires other support files, it's not simply music.apk) so I cant directly attach the music player.
That's 112 (at&t), check the wiki if you want a different donut build.

Default video player not working

I don't know exactly why but the default video player will not work now. When I try ti watch a movie (transformers) App opens, I get the black screen that says loading with the circle, then static out the speaker and movie never loads. I laoded a different movie on the SD card that I know worked beofre and the same. Any ideas?
are other video players working ok? try TCPMP if you have not used it yet:

No vids are working. Does that app replace the default video player? If so how do I remove the default one and set the new one to default?
It doesnt remove the default one it just installs to your phone as another video player.
when you say default video player do you means windows media player or another media player?
removing software that is built into the phones os can only really be done by the cooks of the custom roms. so unless you are willing to install a custom rom you would have to put up with using a secondary media player.
However I do beleive their is a way to change file associations so that you can permenantly associate video files with new applications.
file associations should be accessible from tools/settings of the player, I'm not sure about tcpmp, as I dont use it.
You could always long press then "open with" and associate that way.....
Some of the UK tmo HD2's had an issue with the htc player being screwed with by certain apps, not sure if the same problem might exist in the US versions.
Have you installed anything recently that might have affected it.......
only thimg I can think of is SRS WOW. Im gonna try an SD flash of a custom rom now anyway. Thanks everyone.

mp3/video recognition?

I am sorry if this was mentioned before, I did search but found too many misleading threads.
I have an 8gb class 6 microsd, I created a music folder and loaded a few mp3s to test out on Meridian Player and MixZing. Both media players did not find any of my music, and I could not find the files I just added using the File Manager.
I'm confused, as when I connect to my PC via USB, I see the files. But they don't appear on the device?

Hmm haven't tried Froyo or Meridian/MixZing (actually I may have lol). I've got Eclaire and have used the default and 3 (cubed) music players. So far I've had no problems.
I've got Eclaire in the root of my sdcard and my music in:
***root sdcard***\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
Where did you create your music folder?
Does doing something similar for Froyo work?- say:
Froyo in: ***root sdcard***\Android
Music in: ***root sdcard***\Android\Music

I've tried to create them in the root and in Android\music. It just seems to have a very difficult time recognizing any files I put on the SDcard.

Seems like a Froyo Stock Music App bug as I have the same problem on Stock Builds. Sense builds and the HTC Music App does not have this problem so it has something to do with the way Froyo indexes music files.
I have tried sdrescan, scanmedia (both free apps in the market) and it won't detect all the music in stock Froyo builds.
You could try MortPlayer, as it indexes all your folders when it starts... haven't had luck with it though as it keeps FC'ing on me
I was able to transfer 3 songs over and have it opened through my File Manager app. It took over 6 tries for the SD card to actually read the files. When I would add files, File Manager would show them as 0 KB. I got lucky with these 3 mp3s but haven't been able to consistently add songs.

Hmmm, so other music players use Froyo's indexing service while HTC player and MortPlayer don't?

Yes. That's what its looking like. no amount of sdrescan's will reveal all my music files, unfortunately.
For those of you who don't have this problem, where do you store your Music Files?

Idd, so either use mp3's with proper tags, or use these players.
Or use "Music Player" from Social Soft, it can tag/id mp3's.
im having a similar problem, i have over 300 songs but i can only find 20 in the music player but on sense builds (2.1+2.2) it finds all of my music
Tagging isn't the problem... Froyo seems to have a bug re: indexing music... no amot of scan or rescan will reveal ALL the music in the Music App or any app that relies on the Music App's indexing (doubletwist, tunewiki, mixzing, etc....)
Sense music player uses its own indexing since in Sense builds the Stock Music App is usually not included.
MortPlayer would have done the job since it indexes per folder but it keeps on crashing on my install. (shubcraft v1.1)

Where are playlists located for music player

I have this problem. I installed the 2.1 music player cause I didn't know vibrant's got its own music player. The player I installed have the playlists I synced from pc. The player that comes with the vibrant wont display the playlists. Where does the vibrant's music player store its playlists so I can move my playlists from the root of my phone.

Not sure if its due to your new player or not. I had issues seeing playlists with only the stock player installed. Other music players I have installed since have seen the playlists in all the directories just fine. Maybe the vibrant player doesn't handle the standard playlists. (m3u)
Samsung Vibrant uses a different music player than other 2.1 roms. The one I installed is the one most android phones come with, which display the playlists I put on the phone/memory card. The one that coems with the Vibrant cannot read playlists. One problem with me is when I press the button on the headphones that were provided to skip a song, the vibrant music player would open itself. Therefore I would have 2 music players opened and 2 songs playing.
Has anyone with root removed the Vibrant music player successfully? Or is it too ingrained in the OS?

Android and HTC music players

im not sure this is the correct thread but im running into an annoyance.
im using an HD2 with the Energy Android rom.
playing mp3s with the Android and HTC music players has 2 problems..
1. it plays every file on the phone, even ringtones.
2. it messes up the album artwork and every song gets the same art. even tho most of the songs i have on my phone have embedded artwork.
any ideas how to fix this?
i would love to be able to flip to the music player widget and play my mp3s.
im havn almost the same problem i just want to hear only my mp3's not all my audio files any hav any ideas the ones i found on google didnt help i also tried to search it and got nothing please help us figure out how to play only music with the htc music player and not all audio files
Try inserting an empty file with filename '.nomedia' in the folders where your ringtones (or any other audio you don't want) are, they should be excluded from the music player.
Dunno about the artwork though

How do I create a file with no name? .nomedia appears as just an extention to windows.
I use the cubed (3) music player as my default music file player. It works well although it is buggy in 1.5 on my Backflip.
This seems to be an issue of Sense music player period as you notice the Windows version does that too. I use Mixzing from the market that gives you the option of what folder to scan for music, as for the .nomedia file I would assume start with a blank text file and change the extension to .nomedia?
Use Gallery Enabler from Marketplace
In the Sense builds such as MattC's does anyone know how to replace or remove the HTC player with the Android one.
The Android one I used in Darkstone builds (I believe) supported landscape mode switching of albums with cover-art and also finger gestures to move tracks.... this was really useful in the car.
I second the Mixzing player, I'm using the free version and it works better than any winmo player I could find. All you problems go away.

How do stock music players read lyrics from ID3 tags?

Hi,
I developed an Android app that read/writes ID3 tags. Currently there's a problem with ID3 lyrics field, in fact adding USLT ID3 field to an audio, the music player won't detect the change.
Note that the changes made to the other ID3 frames are displayed correctly, but not USLT.
Only stock music players seems to be affected:
- LG Music of my G3 and G5 has this problem
- Whatever player downloaded from the store (e.g. Black Player) is not affected
The ID3 frame is correctly written onto the audio file though, so I really don't understand.
Is any of you aware of the way stock players on Android parse ID3 tags?
A file that contains lyrics (added with any id3 editor) but were not displayed on the player: https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4077106&stc=1&d=1489676826
A file that I downloaded with already embedded lyrics: https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4077107&stc=1&d=1489676907

I actually know how to do it, but it looks like common stock music players have sort of restrictions so they are not able to read correctly written lyrics frames. However I will look at the OS source
