Help - Salling Media Sync can't complete USB copy - Xoom General

When I connect my Xoom to my Macbook it fires up Salling Media Sync fine and it even does the intial scan and copy but without fail it'll stop after about 120 something files and then just error out. What the hell is going on? I've tried restarting the Xoom a few times and it happens every time. I'd like to avoid having to manually copy over my music using File transfer if possible.
Anybody have any ideas how to get Salling to work or a free alternative for OSX that definitely works?
This is a pretty big issue for me.

FYI, for anyone who cares (doesn't seem like anyone) I contacted Salling Media and they confirmed they are working on a fix - hopefully soon.

just wanted to let you know that I'm seeing the same problem and that I definitely care

This would be a terrific alternative to using file transfer app, I also care. Also anyone notice that file transfer will only copy one song if theirs two with duplicate names by a different artist.

Disconnecting from PC messes up HTC Music Player?

Hi,
I love my HD2 but I have one problem which is realy starting to annoy me. If I connect my HD2 to my laptop (or any other computer or mac), and then I unplug it again, HTC Album Manager should reindex the songs on my SD card and I should be able to play them.
However, 75 percent of the time, for some reason it keeps searching and searching and it never finds anything. It doesnt actualy say its found anything, just the litle circle in the top indicating that its still searching. Library at this time is empty. The only way to fix this is a soft reset. Windows Media Player has no problem finding and playing these files while htc album is struggling.
I've tried killing the audiomanager or albumsearcher processes by microsoft task manager, but for some reason the version on the hd doesnt allow you to kill processes, only tasks.
I've had this problem on my 1.48 NLD Official rom and now on my Dutty's v.5 Holy Grail rom.
Has anybody else experienced these problems and if so, have you been able to fix it?
Thanks in advance...

I've not had these problems with it, but have had issues that the tracks on an album don't get listed in track order, and I can't find a way to re-arrange the order, any ideas?
I've had a similar issue to you, but with windows player though. It won't find any of my music to add to the library, but will find all other sounds such as alarms, sat nav voices etc. How do I get it to find my music and not the other sounds?

Emm, google for mp3 tag, with this you can change id3 tags from your files and readjust the track order. The problem is probably not htc music player, but the files themselve.

The thing I don't understand is that the tracks are in the right order in my music library on the PC, so why should it be different on the phone?

Hmm, it could be that they use an unsupported tag format? If not, then I have no idea. Have you tried my suggestion?

No, not yet. I was hoping I didn't have to go through my entire music collection retagging everything but looks like I may have to. I wonder if it's anything to do with the way windows 7 tags things?
i have the same problem after connecting the hd2 via "drive" mode. but when i use activesync everything is fine except the transferspeed really sucks. so no problem with musicplayer after activesync except the transfer speed
Same problems here! My mp3´s are tagged absolute correct using mp3tag. No problems on any other device/software. Only on my HD2.
In addition to that, sometimes I have duplicate tracks listed in the music player.
There seems to be a bug in the 1.48 release...
Hope this will be fixed soon.

Can you tell me what SD card you use?
contacted htc support about the issue, will post here when they respond. anyone else who can confirm this?
Ive got this "bug" aswell but found an easy way to solve it, just go in to ur media player on ur phone and then updater ur library and all songs will be readded. sure its kinda stupid if u have to do it several times but its still a solution for now.

When connected in drive mode the SD card is not accessible from the phone and this causes all sorts of problems, this is not the case when connected to active sync. Is this a winmo issue or HTC specific problem? (this my first winmo phone)

The fact the SD card is unavailable for the phone when you mount it as external storage to your pc is completely normal for any phone, and no problem whatsoever. But it shouldnt have problems remounting the card and reading its contents after unplugging again..
I never had these problems with my Diamond, allthough I must admit it had internal NAND as storage instead of SD card which probably makes a difference. Still isnt an excuse for it malfunctioning though.
When you unplug from your PC, do you do the right thing and unmount the drive first? If not, then there's a chance the filesystem can be corrupted as a process on the PC may have been using the drive when you unplugged it. This in turn could cause issues when the phone tries to access the card.
This goes of any removable storage or cards you plug into a PC. You MUST unmount before you remove.

Just received a reply from HTC, anyone care to explain to me what he means? (nice english by the way)
Dear Nils Xxxxxx,
Thank you for your question about the audiomanager.
Please save the media files as a fixed bandwidth instead of a variable band width.
If these steps have not helped, then please let me know. I will gladly be again of service.

Sounds like he wants you to re-encode all your mp3s to a fixed sample rate (say 128Kbps or 192Kbps) instead of using a variable sample rate.
However, all my mp3s are fixed rate 128Kbps and I have exactly the same problem as you, so you can go back to him and tell him his "advice" hasn't cured the problem. In fact, I don't see any way in which his "advice" could possibly cure it.
Same Here
I have this problem and its a real pain in the a*se what I do is just use media player for like a day and eventually it sorts itself out (sometimes 2 days....) Not really a fix but what im having to live with ...
I was told before that I HAD to sync via media player rather than just copying the music to the SD card because this would cause the issue and it worked at first but then synced about a GB of music and problem happened again...
I've replied to him that I'm not about to re encode all my mp3's.... its bull****, it should be able to handle the music files fine. My diamond had no problem with it.
Crafty, do a softreset and it should be fixed.

Sense Music Player Lag...

Well, i think alot of ppl know this problem. The music player in sense sometimes has a lag, every 20-30 seconds, a short pause, then music resumes... alot of solutions are suggested, like soft reset, format SD card, organizing your music into smaller folders, putting all your music in ONE folder (?), applying the official HTC hotfix, and more...
None of these solutions help me. This problem started a couple days ago after a hard reset. It only (as far as i can tell) occurs when the screen is locked..
If anyone has a solid fix for this, please, share it.
I have looked up and down these forums, with alotta different results, and most of the threads are a couple months old... and no real solutions.
So, if you know what the deal is, elighten me... this is driving me crazy.
Thanks
htc has released a fix 27'th of april - the issue you mention is handle via that fix.

Kindly
maybe u could also use another player instead of the sense player..
i like the pocketplayer more.. it has so much more settings, so much better quality thanks to the many settings u can do and i just love the library design when u browse through ur music
maybe u should try that too

I tried this fix... it doesnt help..
What i did just try, is to disable in CHT, the option to turn phone off when sleeping, and reverted to the standard lockscreen... thats seems to have helped for the moment, although, before the hard reset, these options where enabled. not thouroughly tested though, because i am at work and i only have time in my breaks!
i'll try these two separatley now, and see what happens...
I would like to just use the sense player, its simple and looks nice (with GTX theme for Sense), plus i dont want to have to go to a third party app evertime i wanna listen to music!
Im on that wagon too - only to use Sense Player.
I have been through quite a few tests to get rid of the frequently stop and go in the player.
Before the hotfix from htc.com I mentioned - I came to the conclusion that to prevent the stop issue you have to to let the device go to sleep from the menu where you can 'Turn off Device' (opos up after holding power button) - Dont click turn of as it wil result in glitches ... but let the device go to sleep by it self.
After the fix ... I can just press power off instantly without having the glitches.
Kindly
I've got the fix and it didn't fix the issue for me.
Here is how to fix it.

1. Transfer all your music from your phone to the PC(make folder "Music" and put it there.
2. Delete the folder containg your music files on your phone.
3. Start your Windows Media Player on your PC and sync your HD2.
4. Drag the "Music" folder to the sync folder of the WMPlayer on your PC(you can add as much files as you want in this folder before to sync it or after for the next sync)
5. Leave it to finish. Once it's done, disconnect your phone and it will fly like a rocket with both sense and wmobile player!
YOU DON'T HAVE TO MAKE ANY REG TRIKS FOR THIS! I BET IT WILL WORK FOR EVERY ONE OF YOU!

My HD2 Doesn't Know from PC...
My Leo has never met a PC (meaning I have no computer and have never active synched), would this patch be effective via the device and storage card alone? I've read through the forums and tried a number of tips but I think we all continue to suffer from less then stellar performance by Sense Player. -No?

[Q] Nexus 7 Unable to Transfer Files to Nexus 7

I've searched this thread and have seen a lot of people with the same problem but with no solution. Hopefully we can find one here...
I'm not entirely sure if I have the right drivers installed or this is just a bug, but when I plug my Nexus 7 into my computer (running Windows 7) it is recognized as a portable device. I can create folders and transfer .zip and .rar files but whenever I try to transfer over a .mkv file, Windows Explorer crashes and it fails. I can't find a solution to this anywhere. What is the problem? I've tried everything, turning on/off debugging. My Nexus 7 is rooted so I got all the drivers working for the toolkit. Is there something I'm missing here?
Any help will be appreciated! Thank you for your time!
This happens for me too, only with mkv files. I'm running Windows 7 64bit.
I've just resorted to keeping them on a USB stick and running through Stickmount.
If there's a solution it would be good to know.

Sounds like it might be a file size problem. Try transferring a much smaller mkv file and see what happens

For me, file size doesn't matter. Even on a 154MB file Explorer crashes.

Yeah, it's definitely not the size. I have tried various sizes of .mkv files and they all crash Windows Explorer
There's a bit more info here http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1364866.html
Uninstall DIVX. Doesn't fix anything for me as I don't have DIVX installed on my PC.
If the issue is with codecs on the PC then I'll just stay with running from USB.
If I change the file extension to .mkv_ it transfers, then just have to change it back once it's on the N7.

It's not just you. MTP sucks.
I recommend web-based (even local web-based) file sharing whenever possible. Wifi will actually be faster than MTP in a lot of cases.
I now have another problem that I just ran into. I don't want to start another thread so I'll just post it here, maybe you guys can help? Now when I finish watching an .mkv video, and delete it, it still stays on the device. Its gone from that directory/folder but it's still somewhere on the device because the space available did not change. Even when I reconnect it back to the computer the space available does not change. When I go to delete a file, it asks me if I want to delete it permanently, I click "yes" and it disappears but the space is still being used. Very confusing. Nothing in my recycling bin either.
Has anyone else ran into this problem?
EDIT - Never mind, I figured it out. You have to reboot your device so that all the files you deleted actually deletes. MTP does indeed suck... Is there any way I could get my nexus 7 to be mounted as a USB Mass Storage Device? Is there a custom ROM I could flash that has this feature?
Thank you for your time everyone
Yeah, MTP does suck. Not sure if you already know about SDrescan. I don't remember the technical explanation (something about rebuilding databases) but running this will show all of the files correctly in Windows Explorer. I figured I'd post it anyway in case someone comes across this thread and doesn't know about it

I agree to this, it was very frustrating to not transfer movies to my nexus without Windows crashing. After uninstalling Divx, it worked like a charm. Why would Divx be responsible for the crash?
Use this, then
I've found a handy-dandy 5-star app called "Airdroid!" (no, I don't work for 'em, they just solved some problems for me!) It's available on goog playstore for android, at least; didnt look to see about mac applications. Used with wifi, you put in it's address on your computer screen and your device will establish a connection and you can transfer whatever you want(I think) wirelessly! You don't even have to have them in the same room(I guess after you search for the address on your comp). I'm pretty much noobile, and I pulled it off, so I bet you can too! & when you hit the "charging cable is loose" issue(guess it's very common due to cheap parts) you can order a "Qi" charging 'base station' that you just lay your device on 7 it charges through the case! Just sayin...

[Q] Looking for Pushbullet-like app

I'm looking for something like this: https://www.pushbullet.com/. It requires Android 4.0 or higher, so this itself won't work, but I'd love to have a one click send-to-nook app that I can use to send stuff from my laptop without a cable (especially for pdfs). I was never able to get Gapps working, so emailing myself won't do it. Anybody know of anything similar? Thanks!
Neat idea--less cumbersome than Dropbox for that purpose. How about something like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smarterdroid.wififiletransfer
Says it's compatible with my Nook--doesn't mean it will work. There seem to be a few similar. Google "wireless send file to android app"
Meanwhile, I need to look at that
Update: I tried the app and I like how it works...but: when I transferred a book into the internal My Files folder it did not show up in the Library, even after a refresh. Under the My Files tab it did appear but could not be read. So I tried a transfer to the My Files folder on the sdcard. That showed up in the Library right away. Not sure if the process can be tweaked, but it's worth looking at more closely. It may be worth noting that ES File Explorer has an ftp interface (news to me but I found it) but it's not as user-friendly as the WiFi Transfer app.
If you have a dropbox account you can use dropsync instead of the official app, it can sync entire directories so it works much like the desktop client.
However, it doesn't do direct over-the-wifi transfer, so perhaps that's not what you're looking for.
Try airdroid, not exactly one click but drag and drop

iSyncr broken in S5?

I think isyncr is broken on the s5. The wifi syncs only the playlist names but never transfers any songs, the USB transfer doesn't even recognize the desktop app is installed. Anybody else having this issue? I already contacted the dev, waiting for a reply

I thought I'd already responded to your support request, but there are no known issues with the S5 right now. Are you using a PC or Mac? For USB transfers, you have to use iSyncr Desktop which is in the menu bar (Mac) or system tray (PC). You cannot have a WiFi sync if iSyncr Desktop isn't installed, so it should be there.
Works for me
I had no problem getting isyncr to work on the 900V and save songs on the SD Card.
However, I used a 64G SDCard from my previous device which already had a isyncr folder. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I have noticed that some other apps cannot write to the SD Card. I think once someone gives us root capability for this device these kind of issues will go away.
That said, while I already had the isync folder loaded with songs on the SD Card I used, I did add some new songs to my remote computer and isyncr was able to create the new song files on the SD Card.

Well, there is now. And FYI, i already responded to your second email with this:
Are you syncing over USB or WiFi? Wifi, as i mentionned in my subsequent email, usb doesn't work as it doesn't recognized the desktop app
Do the songs show up if you install and use my app, Rocket Player? The songs are never synced, my sd card is empty
Are you syncing with a PC or a Mac? Pc
Why did you send a screenshot of the Galaxy S5 music player? If it turned green, that is Samsung's software, not mine. this picture is just to show you that it syncs my playlist names but doesnt sync any songs. the green is the circle next to the playlist name when isyncr finished syncing a playlist. As i mentionned, when i press sync, it syncs the playlist and never syncs any songs. It gathers info aboht the playlist and instead of syncing the songs, it just turns green. I would love to attach another photo but now my phone doesn't recognize isyncr at all. Even if i try to connect manually it doesnt see the desktop app.

I've been an isyncr user since day 1, i've seen the program evolve from the days where i almost switched to Airsync. I kept this because it worked better overall with less dependencies. It worked flawless on my Note 3 and it doesnt work on my S5. I've already tried everything before reaching out to you, like reinstalling, clearing cache, data, heck, i even tried a previous version. FYI, I did start from a freshly formated SD card, and I didnt just transfer my SD from my N3 to my S5 and keeping the isyncr folder intact. Also, i would not make the stupid mistake of trying all this without having the desktop plugin installed
@crimpo There already has been root for long before the device was released, as usual, chainfire is ahead of the game by updating his CF-Autoroot
Quick update: Pat sent in a log file, and this looks like some issue syncing to the SD card using WiFi that I will have to figure out. I'm not seeing this on any of my other KitKat devices, and haven't heard about this issue from any other S5 customers, but I will try and post my finding here.
I too am having an issue with isyncr USB and WiFi to MacBook pro. Been using isyncr for years with galaxy nexus.
I have the Verizon version of the s5. I am blown how much cap they put on the phone. Every time I plug in USB it says installer mode and it looks like a Verizon cd is plugged into mac.
Tried installing Samsung kies but no Playlist sync.
Even android file transfer is working weirdly.
Can anyone tell me how to wipe all traces of kies and the Verizon application?
I'm having problems getting it to work. I've tried everything.

I'd love to help with these problems with your Galaxy S5 displaying in iSyncr Desktop if you'd email me at [email protected]. I'm not sure that I have a bullet proof method that I'm able to post to the forum. You do not need to root so far as I am aware. I'd love to help with these problems with your Galaxy S5 displaying in iSyncr Desktop if you'd email me at [email protected]. I'm not sure that I have a bullet proof method that I'm able to post to the forum. You do not need to root so far as I am aware. Please email me at support and we can work through these issues together.

The only way i was able to transfer to sd without root was to create the same structure of storage isyncr creates on a device that allows apps to write to sd. It didn't work all the time but after pressing sync 3-4 times, it eventually started syncing
