[Q] Problem with open video files - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi guys
I've installed PureGingerbread gpc_hd2_gingerbread_v1.7 on my HD2.
Everything works quite good, but i can't open any video files.
I've tried .xvid and .mkv with built in player and mVideoPlayer.
Can you help me ? Is that ROM broken or I should install some codecs ?

No one can help me ?

try a different player such as rockplayer

The same.
Always the same problem, which is "This file can't be opened on this devide"

Ok, I've got something !
I can play movies when I disable Hardware Decoding support in Rock Player.
What can be wrong in system ? Why hardware acceleration doesn't work ?

[Q] core player trouble

hi, i think that core player is the best player i had tryed on my HD, BUT when i try to play somne .divx or .avi video, it doesn't play sound, 'cause AC3 is not supported in this version. i tryed to look for AC3 codecs or newest version, but notsuccesfully.. i've tryed another players(pocket divx, divxmobile,...) but they failed- getting frozen or lagging.can you give me some tips for another player that doesn't have that problem with sound, or something else what would help?thx
What build is it? Mine is 1.3.6 and plays everything out of the box, perhaps you should check settings. As for other players, don't bother searching - tried them all, Core beats each one of them.
version 1.3.0, buid 6213

help

help. i need somebody to help me, im having problem to watch video files or transfe video files
i cant transfer or watch mp4 or avi files on my acer a500
with any custome rom i use, help.. thank you
Download mx player, and install the codec for arm7 tablet.
you need to install a third party media player. the stock media player in android dosent play alot of files(or at least not very well). there are several out there just pick a good free one. most people use moboplayer and it will install the needed codecs when you open it(but last time i tried it ,it didnt work on acer android 3.1 why i dont know) so I use rockplayer light for now. it plays most files with out need for other downloads.
There are tons of media players just go to market and find one that you like and that plays your files.

[Q] url video streams

Hi, I've been trying to watch various video streams via mobo player,mx player and vplayer but kept getting the following message:"can't play (the name of the link)" when I select mobo player.
And with mx player, the software decoding switches to "hardware decoding" and it displays the message "sorry, this video cannot be played".
Is there something I need to do to watch URL based streaming videos via the said players?Cos I remember a while back, these players seem to work with URL links ie mx and mobo worked like a charm. I don't know what's changed.
moboplayer does not work for me for streaming but mxplayer does. I think somewhere in the settings there is something that only lets you use s/w decoding, as h/w does not work. See if that helps you get s/w decoding because it will work then. You might also want to find the icestream .apk, because I recently found it and it's basically the best thing ever.

Cheers for that. I'll give your suggestions a try.

[Q] MX player issue (H/W+, H/W or S/W)

Folks,
Having issues playing mkv files with the H/W or H/W+ decoder. I installed the latest purity ROM, and have been having issues playing the videos since. The files will only play in S/W decoder. I had a different ROM earlier(can't recall) and the same mkv and other video files would play in H/W and H/W+ decoder.
Could someone please explain if this is a ROM issue or do I need to do something else to fix this?
Thanks
