hi, i think that core player is the best player i had tryed on my HD, BUT when i try to play somne .divx or .avi video, it doesn't play sound, 'cause AC3 is not supported in this version. i tryed to look for AC3 codecs or newest version, but notsuccesfully.. i've tryed another players(pocket divx, divxmobile,...) but they failed- getting frozen or lagging.can you give me some tips for another player that doesn't have that problem with sound, or something else what would help?thx
What build is it? Mine is 1.3.6 and plays everything out of the box, perhaps you should check settings. As for other players, don't bother searching - tried them all, Core beats each one of them.
version 1.3.0, buid 6213

when i try to play certain avi files sometimes core player mobile says
player : audio codec (ac-3) not supported by the player
do you have any ideas how to fix this ?
any help will be much appriciated
thanks
ac3
Hi, this is not supported in any core player versions yet, i doubt it will. You will need to re-encode your video.
Can't quite remember but is there not an ac3 codec for the earlier incarnation -tcmp, which I think should work (least it does on a wm6 Ipaq) - Still waiting on my HD. . .
Hi
im trying to play some video files (divx, xvid) on my touch diamond
ive tried core player but i only get audio and no picture,
do i need to install codecs or something?
I'm sure there are better answers but I gave up on the built in one and got tcpmp. Its free because its discontinued but it plays my files in general.
anyone can post out the media software to watch x1?? i want it performance smooth n doesnt hv delay..thx
Million plus first reply for this topic:
Built-in media player is the best, since it is the only one (well, together with WM player) with full HW support.
Next best would be core player, with partial HW support. But generally you can't play any one CD AVI fluently.
Yes, you must recode the movie into mp4. Simple tool for that is described in this sticky thread:

Just use coreplayer and you dont have to convert
what abt flv movies? i cant seem to get tcpmp nor core player to play flv movies.. anything else is fine..
core player plays some flv movies
which version? i got the 1.30 version and it kept giving me errors..
depends on FLV codec version
I tried Core media player but the files i'm trying to watch are AC3 audio and so i get the video but no sound. Is there a way to modify core media player to run AC3 audio or is there another player for the HD2 that plays it?
TCPMP can play AC3 with some plugins. Search for it, there are threads exploaining what to install.
I tried both TCPMP and BetaPlayer. Both crash miserably on my HD2

My preferred version of TCPMP is this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3275845&postcount=172
It comes with most plugins already installed.

hi all, I tried to play a 720p avi movie on windows 8 today but there was no sound. I booted back to windows 7 and tried again and the sound works.
I would like to make it work on windows 8. does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
Thanks everyone!
The magic word here is "codecs". Haven't used Windows 8 myself but I am pretty sure you need an AC3 or DTS codec depending on the movie you are trying to watch. It also depends on which player you are trying to watch the movie with. Try using Media Player Classic - Home Cinema Edition which has all the codecs needed to watch HD material. If, however, you don't want to change players, then install ffdshow or ac3filter. These codecs will work with any Directshow player.
Codecs would be one issue. What software are you using to play the film?
it may be only a codec issue, i just tested some Avi movies i have and i found some had sound and some dont.
But like in Win7, in this Dev Preview I installed my regular player PotPlayer.
and you wouldn't have any trouble since it has codecs included.
of course other player may do the job.
but you can get Potplayer english version from here:

vlc will play most of the hd movies. And yoiu might not need codecs
Thanks for everyones help. I just installed ac3 codec and sound is working perfectly in windows media player.
