Well I just sold my Samsung Epic and everything that goes with it. Just like my departure with HTC Hero and the HTC Vogue, I will let y'all know what my decision is for my next device.
I am going to CTIA in Orlando, Florida and I will be at the invitation only Sprint Event, so I'll get to see the new devices they are announcing. Depending on my use with the devices, rumors are HTC Evo 3D and Nexus S 4G, I will make my decision.
I am kinda leaning towards HTC Evo 3D because of it being HTC, which I now realize is better then Samsung, and it is 3D!! Without glasses.
But, the Samsung Nexus S 4G will be supported by Google and always have the latest software. So...it will really depend on which one I love more. Heck the Nexus S might end up being dual core!
Anyways, I'm sorry for the departure. I will still try to provide all the software I can get my hands on, and I will keep you updated on my status.

Well I have been defending Sprint and Samsung a little too long. I am going back to my HTC Vogue for awhile. Yeah, that old thing
I have been a HTC man from the start, but they disappointed me on both the HTC Vogue by leaving out OpenGL driver and then on the HTC Hero by ending it's support early for it, and never releasing 2.2. That's why I went to Samsung. I was hoping that the best phone by FAR would get excellent support. I was wrong.
I want to test out LG and Motorola Android devices, but Sprint isn't getting any GREAT Moto or LG devices, like the Atix/Bionix or the Revolution or the Optimus 3D. I'm with Sprint til the end. I will never switch to another company, unless T-Mobile and Sprint merge because I envy GSM devices ALOT. I don't care what happens. I love Sprint and I love their prices. I never have had a problem with them. I know I'm a Sales Rep for them, but I'm being completely unbiased here.
LG is still new to the Android game, so their support is undetermined. Will they be another Samsung/Motorola? Or will they be a HTC/Google? How about I just not take a chance.
From now on I will only buy Google flagship/supported devices or HTC devices. Sadly all the great devices from both of those go to GSM, except for the HTC Evo. The Evo blew away everyone and broke all the records. Now Sprint is probably going to do it again with the HTC Evo 3D or the Google Nexus S 4G.
Nexus S is Samsung, but it is Google supported. It will be the first CDMA Google device, if you don't count the Xoom, which I don't. The HTC Evo 3D will be the most supported by Sprint. Sprint will defintively be pumping money into that phone like no other. That's why I said I will really need to take some time and think about whether to choose the Nexus S 4G or the HTC Evo 3D. Both are going to be highly supported, the Nexus S more then the Evo 3D just because it's Google's FLAGSHIP CDMA device, but the Evo 3D will likely be the second device to get all the updates just like the first Evo did.
It will all come down to which one I like more in my hand. I will be writing a review for all the devices I try out on BriefMobile.com, and I will include my decision on which device I decide on.
Nexus S 4G vs. HTC EVO 3D
Which one will win my heart for the next 6 months? We will find out in 2 weeks when I get to see them up close and personal!
EDIT: Major +1 is Netflix support too. I have had Netflix for the past 5 months and I cannot live without it. My next phone must have it or else...

I put everything I ever find or review on there. A lot of exclusive material. And yes, come March 21st through March 24th, I will be writing non-stop because of all the stuff I will be reviewing down in Orlando. I have numerous briefing and meetings scheduled with alot of big name companies and their CEOs.
One that I cannot wait for is my meeting with LG on the 22nd at 4pm. I will get a look at the two new devices LG will be showcasing at CTIA. And my CoolPix S80 is ready to do some work
Good luck bro. Thanks for everything you've done. Ill definitely be checking out your articles on the next devices.

Any chance you can get CarrierIQ and the ACS SFR thread some attention by putting up a short news posting?
I really would like it if we could get some attention out there for it, even if it is just purely pointing out that it exists, and that a specific Sprint / Samsung combination has it.

If you have both, sell the Evo first. I would have loved to keep my Epic, but I need money and I want something else. Something with more support too.
The price is still being negotiated, but it is basically a done deal
I'm suprised that you would even consider an lg. those and htc are the most returned phones because people break them constantly. My wife went through 3 htc moguls and an htc touch pro in 6 mths and she is not hard on her phones at all those brands are garbage. I would suggest a moto phone tho if sprint ever gets one. The nexus s 4g does look inticing.....

Samsung, YUCK!!! Get the HTC!!!
Dude get the MT4G, Nexus 2 isn't being announced on Nov. 8th (My birthday ). Whoever got the emails misinterpreted it. It's a Samsung Continuum.
There’s an ENORMOUS problem with this concept, the biggest of which being that it was dead wrong. Anyone who actually got the email from Samsung’s PR firm, or bothers to communicate with Samsung at all would know that the November 8th Samsung event is the launch of the Samsung Continuum. For those unaware, this device is completely Samsung, and a unique concept at that, but I will leave details out for the release.
In short guys, it’s bogus. The 8th will not yield a Nexus 2 and the Continuum will not have Gingerbread. Stay tuned though, it will still be a great party.

I am not sure whether is i9020 nexus II or not, but i9020 passed FCC with AWS band (good for T-Mobile and Wind), so this phone will be on my purchase list.
I love mine. Would not trade for a nexus 1 but the nexus 2 may have a 1.5 Ghz processor when it launches. This time it isn't supposed to be on online exclusive either. No confirmation on that so don't hold me to it. Lol.

i'm debating this as well. If the nexus 2 has better specs than my vibrant, I might just get that, but for now i'm leaning towards the 4g.
Even if the specs were similar, I might lean towards the upcoming Nexus phone because it will be unlocked and ready for root.
That will take half of the work and danger out of customization and I bet you will see a lot of community mods aimed at the device.
Nothing against the MyTouch, but HTC needs to offer you something in exchange for dealing with their bloatware and restrictions on the phone. Maybe some killer app or interface?
the nexus 2/S will also have the latest version of android. the mytouch will probably have to wait several months to see an upgrade.
Talk about ignorance, everyone hears Samsung as the manufacturer and automatically think the Nexus 2 is gonna suck. If it's going to be an actual Google phone, then Google will be doing the software updates and such. Damn people, stop the hate on Samsung because it's getting really annoying.
If Samsung is going to announce it, then just wait. You'll only have to wait one week, that's all. It's not like it'll be the end of the world within that time frame.
I doubt that it is the Nexus 2, Google said it isn't happening, the people are Gizmodo are like the troll on this forum; MY FRIEND IS A TMO EMPLOYEE AND HE SAYS SAMSUNG VIBRANT WON'T GET FROYO TIL NEXT YEAR. no, be patient, even then the Nexus can't have more than a first gen humming bird or a second gen snapdragon/scorpion. And if the nexus two is coming, and you want it... the event is on the 8th, return the mt4g and wait for the new device... its not really hard to do lol

Thanks For Making my life easier. That was the exact EXCRUTIATING worry going thru my head.
That is what I will do.
Bottom line: The Nexus Two will be a great phone. Most agree HTC makes more solid (i.e. built like a brick ****house) and appealing phones (tmo employee and I agreed) phone.
But with the Nexus two being great, the best phone to date and will be for a year so they say, STILL, the Mytouch 4g is top notch until it comes out, Correct? (please validate me LOL ) And if I were to keep the Mytouch, the Nexus is not all THAT better is it
Do you know or can u find out if they will make that foolish mistake of NO Flash
Do you know why they would do that, being a Senior member on here

Perfectly stated. That is exactly what I plan to do. I would have waited at least a week to get the MT4g anyway. I need to read at least 100 reviews, and see video samples, photo samples, yada, yada ...to death.
If Samsung anounces the Google Experience phone in the interim, so much the better, and I wait. Having owned the Vibrant for a month, I would love a Google Experience Samsung phone. I'm sure Google would ensure it's done right.
I read the pros and cons on Cnet and it seems like HTC's speakerphone still sucks. Meaning, it is low just like with the G1. I hope its not true, since HTC does make good hardware, but low speaker volume sucks.
I don't profess to know nearly as much as most on here...but fwiw, my friends old mytouch slide, which he had for a week before he opted for the Vibrant, ...he LOVED the music player and the volume on it and the speaker in general. The speakerphone technology itself could change that

Samsung, yuk. I CANNOT believe Google went the Samcrap for their next Nexus. I will NOT be wasting my money on another Samsung phone, EVER. I'll keep using my N1 for flashing and hacking and my MT4G for everything else.
P.S. Did you notice that the power/lock/wake button is in the same uncomfortable/almost impossible spot to use just like the Galaxy? Idiots.
Samsung? No thanks.
My last Samsung was the Omnia I900. Gotta say the company went down hill after that device and lost my influence with their sorta cheap design. The MT4g is a heck of a phone and Google direct support or not its going to get alot of love in the future from Tmo and HTC I bet. Ill stay with HTC.
My hopes keep being put down after each big phone technology show First was CES in January, and not a thing for Sprint really ( meaning an upgrade to our beloved EVO ). Now it is MWC, and I was hoping for some announcement or rumors of the EVO 2 being in the shadows, with at least some spec's leaked out, but nothing, just some slightly updated HTC phones;
HTC refreshes Android lineup;

yeah and the specs of those newer phones still dont meet up to the Evo really. as i said in the other thread, the next show is our last hope i guess. Hopefully it will be something along the lines of using the newer snapdragon chips with DRM and well get netflix. anything less would be a disappointment really.

The full next generation HTC phone is codenamed "Pyramid" it will have 1.2ghz dual core...double the RAM...double the memory...better screen technology...
It sounds like the perfect device to be the new EVO2...but the strange thing is that T-Mobile is getting this "Pyramid" for a May launch. At least according to the rumors I read.
Samsung flat out kicked HTC's ass at MWC. No ifs ands or buts about it.
htc's next phone needs to keep hiding, the longer it takes to come out, the better it will be and the evo isn't unbearable yet
No wonder Sprint had a big event for the Echo. There isn't crap out there that will serve as the next flagship phone for Sprint. One last mobile event to go so hopefully I'll have egg on my face.

Let put it all in perspective here. LG, Samsung, and Motorola showed off their v10 and v12 engine cars. HTC add 50 hp to their v8 beast. God help me. Yet, either way anything Samsung comes out with no matter how great the hardware is will be crap. Hence the moment and current galaxy S models that still don't have official Froyo. ;p Sorry I had to take my frustration out on someone.
I have hopes the EVO2 will be announced in March / April. Because Sprint would be silly to keep it too quiet for long otherwise buyers will start looking elsewhere. This Summer some bad ass phones coming out. The HTC Pyramid on T-mobile, and hate to say this but the iPhone5 with 4" screen, dual cote, and a rumored major redesign of iOS adding notifications and widgets. If Sprint doesn't at least announce an EVO2 by June, I will seriously think about that new iPhone5.
It looks like at&t and tmobile will get the nice phones... My mt4g was fast but I prefer my evo.

I do LOVE my EVO, with Myn's RL5 ROM, this phone is a beast, and much better on battery life. But seeing these new devices announced, makes me wonder what we could be playing with soon, I am addicted to cool technology.
I don't want much in an EVO2, mainly a thinner and less bulky device, and hopefully improved battery life, and for sure want GPU acceleration, and a better screen to match something like the Super AMOLED.
But if Sprint keeps quiet on a EVO successor, I will seriously look elsewhere this June. Because come this Summer, the EVO1 will be outdated compared to the other high end devices from Apple, Samsung, Motorola...

Actually the best phone for 2011 will most likely be the Nexus-3.0 due out at the end of the year, it will ship with the newest Android OS, and have some amazing technology from what I hear. But if it is for T-Mobile only, screw that, their service sucks by me, and really blows inside buildings.
I hope the Nexus-3.0 is as future proof as the Nexus-One was, it came out with hardware that was like 6 months ahead of it's time. And I have heard that Motorola wants to get in on the Nexus game.
I am still thinking the top phones for 2011 will be;
- EVO2
- iPhone5
- Nexus-3.0
I like both phone, both has crazy specs, I have the evo now and love it. What I love about the evo is that there is so many roms to choose from. My main concern is which phone is easier to develop for and do you think Samsung development community would be as big as HTC development community. Not to mention that I love the cm roms and there roms is still in experimental stage for Samsung. I really answering my own question for the evo3d but that screen on the galaxy s2 is calling me.

I sold my EVO and bought an Epic back in December... big mistake for someone that likes to dev and tweak his phone. The Epic hardware is awesome, but the dev support is very lacking. Yeah, I could overclock my Epic and score 2400+ on Quadrant and it took great HD Video compared to the EVO. The screen was also beautiful. I traded the Epic for an EVO because I missed being able to dev. If you're the type of person that always wants to be on the cutting edge with the newest version of Android, then stay with what the DEVs are using (probably EVO3D). If you're someone that runs the same ROM for months at a time (i.e. not a flashaholic) then the Samsung S II may be best for you. It depends on what you're looking for and what you're looking to do with your phone.

Yup Evo 3D, even tho it might have lock bootloader like the thunderbolt, it will have more support from developers, and good ones too, virus is coming alone and myns wants too, I believe mik is coming and of course others

I wonder how long it will take them to crack the bootloader if it is indeed locked. I hope not too long. But its what ever. After running Virus' Kindom Port, ill be fine with stock un-rooted for a lil while
My only concern is developing for the EVO 3D as they have some new files that are going to be or may be difficult to work on. Only time will tell. I'm going to the EVO 3D because I love Sense and I can tell you right now the galaxy wont have that.
My favorite roms are myns for sense and cm7 for latest android roms. So I guess ill stay with HTC

I checked out both phones at Google IO. The galaxy S2 was so thin and the screen was amazing. Both phones were super snappy.
The only turnoffs for me on the galaxy s2 was the plasticky cover and the weight. Anyone who's owned a Samsung phone knows what i'm talking about with the plasticky feeling phones. But the weight of the S2 blew me away. I can't remember a lighter smartphone. It felt like a toy. It was basically "too light." I'm sure for many, that phrase doesn't even make sense, but for me, I like phones that feel solid and have some substance to them. For some, when they throw this phone in their pocket, they won't even know its there.
I have to hand it to Samsung though. The S2 is an impressive engineering accomplishment. Its the highest performance phone I've seen announced, and its so damn thin and light.
I'm personally a fan of sense, or at least having the option of sense, and I doubt that would ever fully translate to a Samsung product no matter what developers are working on it.
I really love the slab form of the GSII, if they release a HTC slab phone (like the Sensation) on Sprint, that would really be the phone I'd want. Evo 2?
HTC has better radios and gps, Samsung sucks!
the s2 does seem intriguing...also i hate that instead of hdmi out, the use usb and then give you a converter cable w/ an additional power source on it. plus, for some unknown reason, it seems we could be waiting a while before it actually hits the market in the states for some reason eventhough it is already in europe (gsm version). also, i hopped on to the evo 3d thread a while ago and the dev's were introducing themselves...there were LOADS of great dev's coming on board. With the specs and dev's on board, the 3d will have some spectacular features!
I am intrigued by the GS2 and the new version of Touchwiz... I HATE HATE HATE touchwiz, but the new version looks ok so far.
One thing that will keep me from considering the GS2 is if it has a physical keyboard. I don't know why Sprint has to be the one that gets that...
I'm going with the EVO 3D. The specs look awesome.
Neither, its all about the Nexus 3
^that not going to be out for a while

I highly doubt the Nexus3 will launch on Sprint. I could care less which carrier it lands on tbh. It's still worth waiting for!! Jaja

I think it will launch on sprint, google and sprint are getting really tight now. First with google voice and now with the nfc payment system.

What's the significance of EOL? Just simply that you won't be able to purchase them new anymore?
Wow, I got my Evo launch day 6/4/10, and have never had it replaced or had any of the hardware issues I've seen others complain about/report. I love my Evo.

It has the best screen aspect ratio, and great visual resolution (biggest icons).
Just did a speed test compared to the 3d it sends and receives twice as fast.
If HTC and Sprint don't have a line item replacement with the same characteristics ... see ya later.
sad, to say the least. my evo is coming up on it's first birthday , i may wanna grab one more brand new before it disappears into sprint heaven.......
The EVO SHALL LIVE On.
One of the greatest phones mankind has seen. Or held. Experienced. *tear*

It's perhaps their best seller up until the iPhone 4S and new Samsung Galaxy phones came in.
I just had to have mine replaced and sadly ended up with a refurbished one. No biggie though. The EVO 4G is perhaps the best phone they've had at Sprint. I can't wait to see if there's a new HTC phone announced during the MWC for Sprint.
I device 'truly' hits EOL when the development stops, and I mean we have ICS. We're good to go for a while guys.
October 2011 called they want their news back lol, evo 4g went eol just before Halloween meaning no new shipments of phones from HTC only leftover stock of new phones rest are all refurbs
We are legion, for we are many.
yeah, okay bud....

Guess my crystal ball was broken, but either way - that link was posted on the web the same day I posted in this post. Dated January 25, 2012 7:57 am. Don't you think if it was on the list back around Halloween, SOMEONE else would have posted it SOMEPLACE on XDA??? I do, and its not anywhere...
Moving on, and I quote - "the latest leaked EOL list is coming from Sprint and has a few key devices included."
Get over it dude, I was just passing on the info.... you're welcome...
Speaks to the level of badassery of the Evo. EOLd TWICE!

Sad to see. I've had the same Evo since day 1. Love this darn phone. But, luckily, like the other posters have said, as long as the devs here keep developing for it, it's not EOL. At least until the Galaxy Nexus is available!
I am just curious what they would replace with it, I have to get mine replaced so now I know to do it ASAP. Does any where keep track of what ends up becoming the replacement device if one becomes damaged after EOL and they have depleted there refurb stock.
There goes any chance of an official ICS Rom

It was posted someplace on XDA back then. I made reference to it in this post back in Sept.:

We wouldn't have 4+" screens or 4G without the Evo. The most important smartphone release in the last few years for sure.
I believe the HD2 was the first 4+" screen, nearly identical HW to Evo. In fact, devs have WinMo (native), Android 2.2,2.3, & 4.0, AND Ubuntu/Linux, and WinPhone7 running on it (multi boot)!!! Pretty amazing stuff, there.
But still, yeah, the Evo has been one wicked machine. And we were lucky with amazing devs from day 1 (toast, virus, lithid, etc). Its been fun. And continues to be, with devs still bringing ICS to it/us.
And post about EOLd twice due to badassery.....lol nice

Asurion has been replacing them with Evo 3ds, in many cases. There's a thread here in General about exactly that, just saw it yesterday. And apparently sprint has sent letters to 30,000 customers/ex-customers trying to get some Evo 4gs back to use for refurb. Lol (I personally prefer the OG to the 3d by far,..don't like the narrow screen or materials used on 3d).

Tell me about it I miss that phone alot haha. It was so cool Dec 30th 2010 when we were finally able to run Android on nand. I showed that phone off alot. Windows phone running Android haha.
Then later down the line CLK recovery came out so the phone would go from splash screen straight to boot animation no more MAGLDR screen haha.
But before that I was hooked on Energy winmo roms. Good days...
Evo is still an awesome phone no complaints what so ever. We have Roms for days.

i don't care what anyone says this phone is revolutionary and in my mind still the best on the market and until they make a new evo that has the same screen size (not skinny like the 3d) and keep the look almost exactly the same as the 4g we all know and love this will be my phone of choice :')
