[q] about the stock music player

Anyone know how to change settings so library only adds files from a certain folder? I have hawx installed which has 500 audio files and the music player has them all listed which is really annoying having to scroll through.

In any folder you do not want scanned by the media scanner for music and video, place a blank file named ".nomedia"
ah ok thanks. Blank file meaning even a document file or something specific?

Glad this was asked. I was curious about the same thing. After installing some games, the music player includes some of the sfx in the playlists. Very annoying. I will try this fix as well.
Thanks for the post.

This works for all nested folders as well. And if you are rooted, you should also check out Rescan Media Root to rescan the sd card on demand. You can disable the startup rescan if you wish and use this as needed. I haven't yet disabled rescan on startup. It doesn't take too long. But if I add the .nomedia to a folder, it's faster to run this app, rather than connecting to a computer, mounting the sdcard and disconnecting to kick off the rescan.

Videos Play Choppy.. Need Help!!!

i'm running a stock 6.5 unmodded and locked TMOUS hd2. when i first got the phone, videos ran smoothly. but weeks later, the videos became choppy. i dont know why. i turn off 3g, wifi, and set brightness to 20%. i also disable all tasks in the background. but videos still play choppy. why is this happening and what do i do to ply videos smoothly?
Are you playing the same video you played before, otherwise the problem might be with the file encoding. Moreover, try reinstalling the video player (if it's not the default Windows Media), or alternately, try another media player (like TCPMP).
If the video files are stored on your micro SD card and the SD card is old. It might benifit you to malefactors back up copy of your SD card on your computer and then reformat it using Fat 32. If reformatting does not help you then maybe thecplayer you are using is not such a good player to use with the video files you are experiencing problems with. The TCPMP player the other member posted above is a good player that supports a kids of video formats that the Manila and Windows Media Player do not. You can find the TCPMP layer her on XDA.

hey t-mag. i think its got to do with the video encoding. i say this cuz a couple of movies play smoothly off the sd card while a couple of others dont. so it could be a matter of re-encoding those movies that arent smooth.
as you know, i'm a newbie. when i go into file explorer and click to play a movie off my sd card, a program plays it in full screen by default. whats the name of this program? i know its not windows mobile media player.

That is the Manila video player, don't ask where you can find it on your HD2 as I never found it when I was running Win Mo, believe me I looked lol. If it is the encoding then re-encoding may just fix them. But like a I said in my last post the TCPMP player is great, I never found a video it would not play, and it has a full screen mode as well. If the file you are trying to play is a file in Windows Media format it will automatically open Windows Media Player to play the video and not the Manila player. You can open non Windows Media files to play with the Windows Media player by opening Windows Media Player and selecting open file then find the video you want and open it. Or you can go to freewarepcketpc.net and search foe file extension for Windows Mobile File Explorer. This is a add n for the defualt File explorer that adds the properties option and the open with option to File Explorer if you long press a file.

How to link music/videos/images from sd card

Hi I can't play music from external sd, only works with internal sd. Any solutions?
Reboot and see for media to rescan
Oe use app to autoscan media in external sd
Or format external sd and put media and see again
Or use alternative apps for media as quickpic, mx player, google music
Or change external sd with new one

my 3110 plays music & video from exsdcard it should work.
I use MX Player for movies and Music Folder Player Free for my music files. Both are pulling data from the external SD card. Before I installed my copy of ParanoidAndroid, I had Jet Basic installed for music and it would see files on the external SD card.
guys is there a player that just loads the music files from music folder only and not the entire sdcard?

Problem with adding music

When I transfer songs to my phone I cant find them, nor does the music player detect them. First I tried just copy and paste them to SD Card into Music folder. Then I used Media Go but the issue is still there. My phone doesnt recognize any new music, but the songs are on my memory card. Any ideas?
Try use a different media player?

[Q]: Can't find downloaded files anywhere

Hi all. Whenever I download a picture or a file, I can view it in from the downloads app, but it does not show up in the gallery, at all. Also I have a music app that allows me to save songs on the phone, and it saves them, but they can not be found anywhere, not on phone storage, not on SD. This all started after I installed an external Sd card. What can be the reason?

use a media scan app
And as for your music files, try using PowerAmp, it's a great music player that finds your music by scanning your entire device.

And the best thing with it is that you can set it to scan just the folder you put your music in, so you don't have to listen to ringtones when playing random playlists
Poweramp is the #1 player for me!
