How to link music/videos/images from sd card - Galaxy Tab 2 General

Hi I can't play music from external sd, only works with internal sd. Any solutions?

Reboot and see for media to rescan
Oe use app to autoscan media in external sd
Or format external sd and put media and see again
Or use alternative apps for media as quickpic, mx player, google music
Or change external sd with new one

my 3110 plays music & video from exsdcard it should work.

I use MX Player for movies and Music Folder Player Free for my music files. Both are pulling data from the external SD card. Before I installed my copy of ParanoidAndroid, I had Jet Basic installed for music and it would see files on the external SD card.

guys is there a player that just loads the music files from music folder only and not the entire sdcard?

What is format of SD Card? What is format of songs. I have a large amount of music on removable SD card and music app sees it all. Try exploring music and select a song on removable card to play. should open player, which might help.
I also have this issue and more..

I have the keyboard and the sd card is using the standard 32bit format. music is in the media folder copied from my hts desire, same as pictures and movies.
All of which work on the desire but are not visable through any of the default installed apps, I have also installed various free apps which again do not show the files.
I can play them seperatly via file explorer and they play properly but do not stay in the history.
Contacted Asus who suggested that I clear the apps cache via settinges/ applications etc.
Tried that several times including reboot before opening apps and no joy.
Also having the issues with google maps downloaded and cached maps. only work on internal memory.
Not rooted yet but depending on these issues will either root or return.
The media services will only recognize internal memory and /mnt/sdcard.
You have to move any music/videos/pictures manually into internal memory or sd card.
The Music app and gallery find the stuff on my Micro SD without a problem.

Music player issue

Ever since I upgraded to 2.2.2 . My music on my sd card doesnt show up in the music player. All my songs are on the sd card . I have to go into the sd card and individually select a song to play. Can anyone help?

I have my music on my sd card and have no issues. I use Playerpro and have used PowerAmp, I am on a stock rom (BB 351), and my music is in MP3 format.
Are you using the stock music player? What rom are you using? What is the folder structure that you are using? Have you checked for a .nomedia file in your music directory? What format is your music in?
Im using stock 2.2.2 . And my music is in wma format. But it was all available in the music player before the upgrade.

wma is not in the list of audio formats supported by Android natively.
PlayerPro (my current music player) will play wma files when selected from the file manager but does not show them in the music list, either in library or folder view.

Mp3 not showing up on mircoSD card

I have a 64gig micro SD card and placed music and movie files on there. For a day it worked fine..I was able to play music via samsungs music player and PlayerPro app. Now for whatever reason my phone does not see mp3 on my microSD card. I can still however play movies from my sdcard. Anyone have a similar experience?
I don't think the card is going bad as I can still play movies from it. I think it might be a setting issue.
Quick update. I can navigate to my SD card using My Files app and play the files but the stock music player or 3rd party music player cannot view the files.
Ended up reformatting and restoring sd card. Its a bit annoying since the phone was able to read the sd card still.. just the apps was not able to see whats on there.

[Q] Music on external SD with the Samsung music player

I noticed, that the Samsung music player does not show music files which are stored on the external sd.
Is there any solution for this? Apart from moving the music to the internal storage or using another player app?

That is very strange, I keep all 320+ mp3 songs all on my external sd card
and the note 4 plays em all just like all the other android phones I have had.
Good luck!
Indeed strange. Just now I noticed that my music files are showing up twice. The ones in internal memory and the ones on SD card.
Interestingly not all music files on SD are shown?
EDIT: I think I got it. after removing every none-music file from the Music directory and its subdirectories everything seems to work now from external sd.
I guess there were some .nomedia files which were confusing the media scanner.

Play music from SD

I've read a few threads here, but cannot find an answer.
Is there any way for Google Play on my S8 to play my music off my sd card? I have about 80gb stored on my sd card, and don't want to load it into the phone.
If not, is there any music player app that does? I've been reading so many blogs/threads with no joy! Thanks
Using Samsung Music for playing from SD card without issues.
as above or my personal favourite player is "PlayerPro" just make playlists from your SD card contents
Play music plays off the SD card on my device. I have it set to downloaded only.
