Are there any roms out there that are completely stock(Rooted) that support EXT4? Also are there any custom OC'd Kernels yet for stock 2.2.1. (Rooted).
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
No. Only a handful of CUSTOM roms support ext4. Try one of those. They're all very nice. And be sure to follow all of the directions to the letter or you could end up having to start over from scratch.

Ok. Do you know which one is closest to stock in terms of appearance?

try mammon_bonsai4all, it has the (updated) stock launcher and it also supports ext4 and RFS (so even if you dont have ext4, you can still flash the rom)
Please post questions in General section.
You can use any DK28 rom with ext4 as long as you flash an ext4 compatible kernel immediately after flashing the rom and before you reboot. You may lose clockwork 2.5.1.2 if the rom you use doesn't include it, but you can manually put it back.
I flashed nebula rom (rfs) a couple days ago and I am wondering exactly how to get ext4 from here (I still have old clockwork.

You can also refer me to a post or even better, make a post showing how to get ext4

Come on man all you have to do is go into the development section and go into.the.thread that says ported clockworkmod v.3.0.05 and do those steps. Just please look next time.

I looked there and I was just wondering if I could do this from my current rom and if I have to do anything other than usual when flashing a ext4 rom or do I just flash it right after I get clockwork 3 and wipe. Thx.

So, under clockwork 3, if I flash midnight rom will I then have to flash the ext4 kernal or run the ext4 format zip?

No once you flash the new cwm and flash the rom it.converts you to ext4. You dont need to do anything else. Just make sure.the rom you flash is usimg.edify.scripts cause.the.new cwm wont flash amend scripts.

Go to my nebula rom thread. Click on the instructions for EXT4. Do not flash CW3 as nebula doesn't support the edify scripts yet. Do what the instructions say.

K. Thanks. After that, if I want to flash a new rom I just do the normal routine?

ok if anyone is wondering about this to load the new gingersense roms you must update your clockworkmod version to 3.0.0.8 with rom manager...AND YOU ALSO MUST HAVE HBOOT .92 UPGRADE IF YOU DONT...clockworkmod 2 will not work because gingersense is edify script.also one more not don't use rom manager to flash roms flash them manually!!
thanks for the heads up and nice and bold lol
From where i can download?

Is it true that if you update HBOOT to .92 that backups made with any earlier HBOOT (.72 or .77) versions will NOT restore, regardless of CWM version?
So, if you flash .92 HBOOT, you cannot restore backups unless you flash back to the earlier HBOOT, correct?
If all that's true, how does CWM 3.0.8 figure into that if you want to flash an old backup?

I have been using cw2.x to flash gingersense Roms with out issue. My understanding is that edify was backwards compatible. Did something change in this?

That is correct.
This thread simply is wrong, I've flashed every gingersense rom to date on 2.5.1.2 and have never had to wipe or flash anything more than once.
I also have been using 3.0.0.7 with no issues

Hboot.92. Rec 3.x. need check that

This is only partially true. Some gingersense roms still use the old scripting. For instance the nightlies for WarmZ require CWM2: Link.
Unless gingersense refers to Sense 3.0 specifically... but I thought it was sense on gingerbread.
or you can use cmw 3.0.0.7. it worked for me.
Not trolling. Just giving people the option.
And 2.5.x.x has been working for me... Go figure.

I'm not sure why, using CWR 3.0.0.8, but I've had to go into "mounts and storage" and manually format /boot, /system, /data, and /cache or I get terrible FCs when flashing any GingerSense ROM.

Ive also been having to go to mounts and storage to manual format stuff. Im using 3.0.0.7 I was told to use that one if I had OLED
HBOOT .92 is apparently required, but from what I've been told, if you have an AMOLED screen use CWM 3.0.0.7 and for SLCD use 3.0.0.8.
for my amoled, I found 3.0.0.7 works better than .8
1st. I didn't create this ROM, just asked Kenia1234 what to change and did it.
2nd. Kenia1234, Chiledog, Dexter_nlb, and myself WILL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR PHONE!!!!!!!!
This still has the button mapping problem and the auto rotation problem, If you know where a kernel(reoriented for SENSE on this device) is or someone that will make it ask them to do so, and post a link!(PLEASE!!!!!!!!!)
I want to thank Kenia1234, Chiledog, and Dexter_nlb for making this beast ROM, hope to see more progress made!
If already on MIUI or CM7, just reboot into recovery and go to mounts and storages>wipe system, data, datadata, cache> flash GalaxySense.zip and enjoy!!!!!!
Download the following Files-
1.- http://www.oozeroo.com/galaxysense/captivatedownload.html OR http://www.multiupload.com/YH9BF88X9Y but show some love to the oOZerOo website )
2.- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978150&highlight=Cyanogenmod OR http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1066885&highlight=MIUI
3. Flash back to stock, if you don't know how- http://www.mediafire.com/?0w2y31maz8mdom4
4. BACKUP EFS FOLDER ONTO SD CARD OR SOMEWHERE ELSE!
5. Flash MIUI/CM7 in recovery, reboot, let it boot ALL THE WAY UP.
6. Reboot into recovery, go to mounts and storages, format system and data and datadata and cache.
7. Flash GalaxySense.zip and enjoy!

b-eock: I just want to get some clarification on the installation process. I believe the installation process for getting to MIUI changed a while ago where you no longer need to flash the cm7-initial kernel, efs backup, etc. You just have to be on 2.1/2.2 bootloaders and have CWM installed then flash the MIUI zip (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).
Would this process not be the same for GalaxySense or am I missing something?

Which kernel? When you flash MIUI, it includes it's own kernel correct? So would it be the MIUI stock kernel that you need?
And about backing up EFS, if MIUI no longer requires that step, as in it does this as part of the flash process now, why is it necessary to do it before flashing MIUI? Just trying to get clarification. Seems kind of strange to me.
This states using the new CM7/MIUI flashing procedures as well.
I will try this in the night!

GalaxySense has existed since April for the Galaxy S i9000 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044637). This is simply a port to run it on the Captivate (which has also existed since April or May by following the Escapists instructions).
Projects like this is why an AOSP based kernel is so important. AOSP removes all of Samsung's proprietary issues and allows any other ROM that has been ported to AOSP to be ported to the Captivate. CyanogenMod, MIUI, and GalaxySense are all using the same sources to build from..
Hi guys from few days i heard about multi boot option for x10 , is this possible with our handset also ...if yes please any tell me ....thanks in advance...
In theory, yes. For example, you can flash a boot.img file to the recovery partition (Recovery images are basically boot.imgs but with modified ramdisks) then it would boot, but you would need to re-partition the device, or use the SDCard as means of dual booting (Like some early Android ROMs were for the HD2)

Not yet, also the lack of developers is a problem too, we really only have about 5-10 main devs here on XDA, probs more though on com.pl and 4pda.
I Hope developers work in this direction ...
