Question - Epic 4G General

I flashed nebula rom (rfs) a couple days ago and I am wondering exactly how to get ext4 from here (I still have old clockwork.

You can also refer me to a post or even better, make a post showing how to get ext4

Come on man all you have to do is go into the development section and go into.the.thread that says ported clockworkmod v.3.0.05 and do those steps. Just please look next time.

I looked there and I was just wondering if I could do this from my current rom and if I have to do anything other than usual when flashing a ext4 rom or do I just flash it right after I get clockwork 3 and wipe. Thx.

No once you flash the new cwm and flash the rom it.converts you to ext4. You dont need to do anything else. Just make sure.the rom you flash is usimg.edify.scripts cause.the.new cwm wont flash amend scripts.

Go to my nebula rom thread. Click on the instructions for EXT4. Do not flash CW3 as nebula doesn't support the edify scripts yet. Do what the instructions say.

Put the voodoo.zip on your phones sd card, go into Clockwork mod recovery mode, choose install zip from sd card, and choose the voodoo.zip file, and the process will take awhile, so be patient

Voodoo works great on Axura. My phone has zero lag no matter what I throw at it.

Go to the Team Whiskey site. There's a thread on the Voodoo install and uninstall. It very different then OCLF yet still easy just not as..
I don't even run a lag fix anymore, Axura 2.x is quite snappy without it. And I find Voodoo while it works well, it tangles up in my system more then I prefer because I'm always flashing something.
But that said, Axura and Voodoo and your flying.
Good luck.

Question: EXT4 on Stock(Rooted) Rom

Are there any roms out there that are completely stock(Rooted) that support EXT4? Also are there any custom OC'd Kernels yet for stock 2.2.1. (Rooted).
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
No. Only a handful of CUSTOM roms support ext4. Try one of those. They're all very nice. And be sure to follow all of the directions to the letter or you could end up having to start over from scratch.

Ok. Do you know which one is closest to stock in terms of appearance?

try mammon_bonsai4all, it has the (updated) stock launcher and it also supports ext4 and RFS (so even if you dont have ext4, you can still flash the rom)
Please post questions in General section.
You can use any DK28 rom with ext4 as long as you flash an ext4 compatible kernel immediately after flashing the rom and before you reboot. You may lose clockwork 2.5.1.2 if the rom you use doesn't include it, but you can manually put it back.

Yes you can. However depending on the ROM there might be issues if you are currently on EXT4 and the ROM you want is RFS or vice versa and the developer has not put in a detection and conversion script. But if starting from stock just follow the ROMs instructions.

Look for the ROM thread that has the most number of pages, or look in the Q&A sections.
By the way this question should be posted in the Q&A section, and you should read the forum posting rules.

Second that! Oh and yeah bad place to put this. Actually this question get's asked a lot, yet there is no definitive answer it seems?... I believe it is all about personal preference. MIUI seems to have a great balance of everything I could want in a phone and super user friendly customization. I searched a month for a rom... Tried most 2.3.x and while they all offer something and are greatly appreciated... I just so happen to like MIUI the best. Goodluck!
Cm7 is what many people go for, but if you google the things you can do in MIUI, then you will see it offers the most features. The non stock version that nickminn updates every friday seems to be better than any other 2.3.5 rom I have seen otherwise.. but they all have bugs, reduced battery life versus 2.2.x, and barely or non working gps.
The bugs I still had when I stopped using it a few weeks ago: media button on headphones doesn't work, if listening to music when you get a call and you answer, the music will continue to play, you have to restart it after charging(at least after long charges) or it will not go into deep sleep, and occasional sd card issues(my music player would too often not be able to find the music).. the plus side is all of the features: the notification bar being customizable and shortcuts to each toggle, the ability to theme EACH part of the UI individually, the built in backup/restore, the battery tracking, the device data usage app, the multi touch drag/drop and tons more.
Also I was getting 16-20 hours under heavy/moderate use which is the best I have seen on any ginger rom including cm7.. on ANY 2.3.5 rom you need to use cpu spy to make sure it goes into deep sleep to have good battery.
Hope this helps.. there is a large trade off using any gingerbread rom until we get the source code-- I went back to 2.2.1 because EVERYTHING works, and I simply can't kill it in 24 hours unless I TRY.. I get 24-48 hours per charge. I miss the features of MIUI, but not enough for the costs-- most of the differences between 2.2 and 2.3 is mostly cosmetic in the end.
I think he means 2.2 roms that look like GB. In that case, try Bionix 1.3.1. It should be easy to find.

that's like body kitting a car to look like a ferrari when you can just get a ferrari... sure the ferrari may get worse gas mileage, but it's still definitely worth it.

cm7, miui, and there are plenty of others. cm7 is as easy as odin to jfd, root, install rom manager, flash cm7 and the gapps. miui should be the same. for any of the samsung i9k based roms you want/have to flash new bootloaders (at least that was the case last time i used one).

Most of the bugs have been worked out since moving to mtd and miui wasn't as big because more people like cyanogenmod as apposed to miui I guess. But there's nothing wrong with my cm7 anyways the new nightly *9* and the samurai kernel bushido8 works seemlessly for me you might want to give it a try there is also cleangb on mtd.

Tried CM7 for the third time and still not a fan. MIUI does not have 4G yet but they are working on it. I prefer converting your favorite ROM to MTD like I did with Legendary 2.1 and gaining 150MB of storage and the added stability.

I've tried cm7 b4 it had 4g and 4g was one of the biggest problems I didn't like it

You can flash anyother MTD ROM from CM7. I switch back and forth to nandroids of CM7 and MTD converted Legendary. So you can flash CleanGB MTD version and I would recommend a factory data reset before the flash since data won't work anyway.

That memory already exists on your phone. But the current Samsung layout has most of it dedicated to Cache. It seems that converting this partition to data storage thus far has no ill-effects. The only thing known to be affected thus far would be an OTA update, as that extra large cache space was needed to download and prep the update.zip file.
ThunderHawk 3.4 will be MTD when I learn a little more about the MTD process and how it works. One issue I've read is that, after converting to MTD and flashing several roms, the MTD will corrupt and you'll have to restart the process from the beginning.
I have been loving my manually converted mtd thunderhawk 3.3 setup with shadow mtd-tw-v02. I gained 191mb of extra storage, and was able to check cm7 for an hour or two and restore my thawk mtd nandroid without issue. Just make sure you know what minor differences you may run across before making the jump. Glad to hear 3.4 will probably be mtd! We have some awesome devs for this device.
