A new android device for a sexy blonde - HD2 General

A lady friend of mine wants to ditch her iPhone and cum party with the android boys.
HD2 is an obvious suggestion, but I think its a bit geeky for her. I will probably put cyanogen on it for her, but that will be it; no flashing new roms every week.
So what would you guys recommend? Front runners at the moment are :
Nexus S
White desire
PS in the uk

You can be sure of a lot of attention with that topic
Don't use any android flashed device for your sexy blonde, Iphone is more sexy, but indeed less geeky

The Nexus S is by far the sexiest Android device and currently the best on the market IMO,
I'd get a Nexus S.
The second sexiest device ever IMO is the Nexus One, which is actually better in some ways because it can run Sense.
so you might get a Nexus One, root it, flash a stable DHD ROM and you're good to go. remember that along with the awesome things it has to offer, it also has the multi-color lighted track ball, my girlfriend is crazy about that aspect of her Nexus.

Haha, thanks for replies.
I think its a bit silly to buy iPhone 4 now with the update so close. Also iPhones are significantly more expensive (buying similar free)
Also considering desire s.
I wonder if its worth the extra money getting the nexus s when you can get an original desire and put cyanogen on it.
Will deliver pics with purchase....

I have to say, for stock user experience, the best android phone you can get is the nexus s. So far there have been no "big" problems with it, atleast currently.
However I think for overall satisfaction, i'd go for the galaxy s. If rooted and with lagfixes/tweaks and flashed a custom rom, the phone is a really nice and smooth.
However one thing i'd say about the HD2 is it's so hackable, you can try WP7, winmo or android, all on one phone. The experience might not be as good as a true android/WP7 device, but it's good enough for daily use. Plus I think it has a top of the class 5MP camera. Atleast it performs alot better than the captivate i'm using right now.

That's just the world of smartphones, sadly.
As an old Blackberry user, this doesn't surprise me at all.. But from looking at the specs of the Nexus S and the SGS, there's really not a major difference.. I definitely won't be losing sleep over it

Well...here's the problem.. Nexus S doesn't really feel like an upgrade from Galaxy S.
1. Bluetooth 3.0 becomes Bluetooth 2.1
2. moviNAND becomes iNAND
3. No microSD card slot
4. No 720p video recording
Of course there are some good things with the Nexus S
1. Android 2.3 and software support from Google (No more Samsung!)
2. Contour Display
3. Near Field Communications (NFC)
4. Three-axis gyroscope
5. Anti-fingerprint display coating
6. Flash for camera
7. Maybe better GPS
However, to me, the only real advantage with Nexus S is software support (and GPS if it's true). Hardware-wise, Nexus S is not as good as Galaxy S. I think the best would be the Nexus S rom gets ported to Galaxy S.

[DUMP] HTC Sensation rom dump

i think now htc sensation rom porting should start right away on nexus one....
its the most beautiful sense i have ever seen.. wow
here is the link of the rom leak...... of htc sensation aka pyramid.

htc desire hd has got the sensation rom port:
http://phandroid.com/2011/04/15/desire-hd-gets-sensation-rom-port/
now i guess it becomes more easy to port to n1.
it consists of lots of new widgets ,icons and animations specially.....
and its gingerbread......
lets see how much time it takes for the porting of sensation rom to nexus one.
guys inform the great developers out there to have a look...
:-D
great...
I hope someone can port it to our n1
Here's an easier download, the chinese one isn't the easiest to navigate.
Sorrry, but do you think this will be ported? No dev has been found to port desire s Rom entirely. This is a dead child in think...

I'll try to get it booting tomorrow, just for the sake of seeing that beautiful lookscreen of Sense 3.0 in action.
I'll post my results.
i love my nexus as much as anyone, but folks, it's time to get a new phone if you want dev results. nobody cares about it now, and with the sensation, g2x ,etc coming out, it's going to be further in the dust. i may keep it just as a token of the first great android phone, or i may sell it, but the sensation is my next phone.
this rom dump is f'n HUGE lol look at that file size, i don't think it could ever make it onto the n1, and if it did it'd probably be slow as dirt.
nice to hear that,great job

Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Well comparing it to the evo3d it basically has better specs plus hw acceleration which is a very nice feature. The screen is awesome imo, tho some people don't seem to like the oversaturated colours. Personally i love it but you have to check it yourself before you decide.
Anyway i wouldn't upgrade right now if i were you, you still have a very good phone, just wait for something newer and better, like the quadcores expected to come out in 2012
My first Android and like this so much. Even after using it for three months I still couldn't make it work the way I'd like, but still its not bad. Frankly, I'd be more happy if this device had iOS instead of Android.

If this phone had IOS instead of Android id sell it, IOS is nowhere near as good as Android, everything works out of the box but your strictly limited in what you can do,i hate restriction.
Best phone right now without a doubt, having owned it since May it's been excellent! Pervious Android device was the DHD, it's faster, smoother and slicker!

Fastest android phone out there, but build quality could be better.
tbh the only phone that could probably knock the sgs2 off it's perch is the motorola atrix.. bigger battery and tegra 2, but then i've never used one so i have no idea about user experience.
Hello My very post here. Best phone I ever owned. it would have been perfect if it was a tegra Device can't see why they did that for a flagship Device !!!!
You will miss sense. Htc phones have better dialer, more useful widgets, like for example favorite contacts and rss reader, better sms delivery report, lockscreen and ringtone volume management. On other side Sgs2 has better multimedia support (mkv) better screen and weight, brilliant call quality and its very smooth in menus.

The backlight flicker has been resolved in recent updates.
Battery life is very decent imo. With the right ROM and Kernel you can get a very good battery life.
S-OFF hasn't been a disadvantage for the HOX community. We're able to flash custom ROMs and kernels very easily.
However, the only reasons I would agree with you on the HOX not being the best phone in the market today are:
- Not having a microSD slot
- and the battery being irreplaceable.
Bye
Have fun with the next one!!
Ok. The reason I got a One V is because all the other phones were 300$+ for it. The One V is 150$. And after using it, I've noticed that it is overall better than the Desire HD. Despite, having smaller screen, smaller camera, and less RAM, it just feels so much better than the Desire HD. Its alot smoother too.

You went for a downgrade!?
DHD has much better specs all around. DHD was a flagship phone by HTC. If you want to "upgrade" you should consider the current flagship, which is One X or wait for the upcoming one.
Anyway, I'm glad to hear you got your DHD back. You did the right thing.
Simple rule. Thought DHD has crossed warranty period so if I get half of the price I can get another HTC without adding anything. But we are foolish to think that way.
