I just got the Airave Acess Point yesterday.
The broadband light is solid green, the GPS light is solid green, and the mobile light is kinda weird, it's solid green for one minute or so and starts blinking (~one cycle per sec)for a couple of seconds and turns back to solid green again.
The problem is that my phone is not able to connect to the Airave. The signal is still low about 1-2 bars. I dialed *99 and heard "The feature code you entered is not valid." No just my phone, my wife's phone has the same problem.
Don't know what's the problem and I've tried updating my profile, PRL, removing the battery and putting it back on. Still not working~
Any help or idea?? Thanks a lot!

I have been having issue with the thing as well. It will randomly connect when it feels like it. Doesn't matter what rom. It will also randomly disconnect. I have called sprint and they reset it a couple of times, but hasn't been any help.

According to the user guide, if the Airave is not activated, the mobile light will be OFF, which is not my case.
I know when I got mine I spent 2 days fighting with the stupid thing before I called sprint. They told me that it doesn't come out of the box activated. They activated over the phone and I was talking away in an hour. Also it only works for phone #s you ad.

It seems exactly what I'm having right now. How did you deal with it eventually ? Is it working right now?
Log on to your Sprint.com account...if you do not see it under your devices then it is not activated. Sometimes some airaves take quite a while to kick on when they are first plugged in.

The GPS and broadband are solid green. The mobile repeats from solid green for a while and slow blinking for a couple of secs and back to solid green.
My GPS light was blinking. I rebooted and now my System light is blinking. Been like this for at least a couple of days.
Sorry, it is my GPS light blinking.

biggest frustration is the visual voicemail. i see a missed call, i see i have voicemail, but when i click "play" on the voicemail it says it can't play the voicemail.
only way to fix it is to power off phone, power on, then the voicemail will play. same problem i had on my old samsung flip phone 3 years ago. promised myself i would never again own a samsung phone but the Epic was the best phone available at the time. sigh.

while at work (roughly 10 hours a day with commute) i rarely answer my personal phone. unfortunately that's when many people (or services like the comcast setup crew, etc.) call.
i end up rebooting my phone, just for voicemail, at least 4 times a week. i don't know if it's something i did (just running stock Froyo EB13 - rooted with EXT4 file system), an app i installed, etc., but it's odd to me that it happened on my old Samsung flip phone on Verizon and now on my Samsung Epic on Sprint.
ready for the rumoured Gingerbread update to officially drop (actually ready for source to come out so i can finally switch off of the stock firmware - for some reason i've been holding out flashing a custom ROM until gingerbread. probably silly of me, but that's what i've been telling myself).

i've never ever had that problem (knock on wood). Maybe a bad flash or something. try updating your voicemail app and make sure you have 3g when your checking your voicemail.
For the battery issue, nubecoder wrote something that can be implemented into kernels for a fuller more complete charge. I don't know which kernels incorporate this.. i'm currently on bakedsnack and it does have it. battery is superb.
When you have to completely close apps (market) just to get data to connect. Its as if its false 3g -_-

Yes, overall its very handy. If it ever starts to mess up, unplug it for 60 seconds, then plug it back in.

I have no text probs as mentioned, but I do have trouble with latentcy. When I'm torrenting, even though I have my airave attached as an arm of the network rather than running all the traffic through it, I get a hard 3 second delay both hearing voice and them hearing m only while torrenting.
If I have any weird trouble with the phone, like delay, not getting calls, or not hearing the other end of the line, I do unplug my airave.
I've been to the sprint store twice. For weird voice clarity issues that turned out to be the airave.

Yea, prepare to be thoroughly annoyed. Get ready for random times where you cannot call land lines but can call mobile phones. Sometimes text messaging will be all messed up. You will probably notice weird problems if you flash roms a lot that no one else is reporting. It has to do with the airrave. Also you will lose calls/data if you move out of airrave coverage.
Overall, its a neat gadget but RIDICULOUSLY annoying sometimes.
just forget about the air rave and enable Google voice integration and turn on airplane mode and then you can call and text over wifi using the Google voice app.

Thanks everyone foe the replies. I always appreciate everyone's feedback out here. I use Google voice now to eliminate the whole sprint vvm issues on CM, but I guess I didn't realize I could make my calls over wifi, although it makes sense that I would be able too?! How would I set that up? I couldn't find any options for it...
Edit: additional question...is it a fairly easy transition going in and out of wifi, to receive calls on normal service when I leave my wifi area?

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^. It does work pretty well but it seems whenever they update the software they neglect to send a reset signal nor inform you o the update. So there may be random times when you will not get calls because they go diret to voicemail or you won't be able to dial out without resetting the Airave. This has been only 4 times in 2 years so that is not bad. Your 3G speeds will be awesome though...about 1.5Mbs consistently.
I haven't had any of the reported problems with ours. We have it connected to our ATT uverse wireless router.

Thats because it's using your Internet to get out... Just bottlenecks your connection really - better off staying on WiFi.
Personally, for all the issues mentioned in this thread I sent mine back. It did more harm than good. Wound up ditching Sprint altogether at the end of the day anyway.
To the guy thats torrenting (sorry forgot who said that) the Airrave is opening an IPSEC tunnel back to a Sprint server. If you QoS the IPSEC traffic (UDP 500 and/or 4500 depending on how your set up) and rate limit your torrent traffic to about 90% of your max bandwidth you'll probably clean up the voice a bit. Might be worth checking the CPU utilization in your router too to make sure that's not causing some of the latency.
In general, for people that can't get it working at all behind their existing networks, make sure you have IPSEC passthrough enabled (some routers may call it NAT-T or something like that). Some older/cheaper routers won't support IPSEC passthrough at all, but those are few and far between these days.

I've liked having mine. I put it on the 2d floor and get 5-6 bars on each floor and about 4-5 in the basement. No issues except, every once in a while it goes off line (maybe an update IDK), and you have to unplug and replug it back to reset it. I notice this when I start getting only 2-3 bars upstairs and 2 downstairs.
I hate my Airave.....
I am on the second one. It is hooked up to 10MB internet service & still cuts out during phone calls & has a noticable delay between the two halves of the coversation. My Vonage phone works great plugged into the same router as the Airave. Now I just leave it unplugged full time, I really need to send it back I guess. It's not costing anything so no harm done.
Also more than half the time it does not connect to my wife's stock Evo Shift.
For me this unit is a waste of space.

Here is my thought.
I live in Florida, and if a hurricane comes and knocks out power, I would like my cell phone to be able to send/receive e-mail/text, and phone calls. I don't want ANYTHING else to function like Facebook, Words with Friends, etc. to conserve battery life as much as I can.
Is there an easy way to do this in an emergency situation?
Freeze all the apps since you want email you cannot simply turn off data. Also note that there is a good chance power will be out to the cell tower near you as well. Generator power only lasts so long.
Sent from my PantechP4100 using xda premium
In an emergency situation you turn on airplane mode and toggle it once an hour or once every few hours to get messages. Power might be out for days, so you don't want data on all the time as its a waste and you prob don't need texts and emails immediately.

You know it would be cool to have an app where you choose certain apps out of your app list to be frozen and unfrozen on command. Like a widget clicker or even a status toggle. Just an idea.
Also just curious but if power get knocked out wouldn't that kill the towers as well? Or do they have emergency batteries?

Keep in mind your TWS % is a big factor in battery drain. Also, if your area gets a direct hit, you most likely won't be able to call out. Texting will still work.
I know this from experience during Katrina. Anyone in the 504 code was SOL for calls, but text and direct connect still worked.

Switched from ciscogee's rom to normal deodexed rom.. then put trailblazers mods cause I never really checked what all it had. and as soon as the phone booted up from flashing that's when the 3g started acting funny. but it's all good now. and no one to blame. just my mistakes.
Just wondered, cause I've had some random odd things going on...wifi not scanning/connecting, notifications not working, weather not updating, apps that did work fine fc'ing, earlier today my soft keys disappeared... they still worked just couldn't see them. Some times the phone runs like a Ferrari, sometimes like a pinto. Rebooting seems to fix it, or jump to another problem. Its almost like sometimes things don't get loaded correctly at boot. Not bad enough to make the phone unusable, but does have me scratching my head sometimes.

Hmm.. that's odd. the only problems I had was that my lockscreen wasn't showing even after I locked it and the whole 3g issue. The lockscreen problem didn't bother me much but the 3g one did. both fix themselves on their own. Rebooting does work. but also when it's booting up it's best to wait and let everything load instead of using it right away. But aside from this don't worry much. These bugs and error will go away soon as we get closer to our goal.

Oh, I'm not complaining! It's still MUCH better than Verizon had it!
Yeah, letting it boot and "settle in" is the way to go...still starts up a lot faster than stock. The only bug that really concerned me was the wifi. It only happened once, so probably just a fluke.

The lockscreen won't show until you toggle the "disable lockscreen" or whatever it's called on and off in TSM parts ---> lockscreen... it'd be a good idea to also choose a lockscreen too, and pick one you like
And I figured out awhile ago why we have some problems, including weather syncing, ticker sleep settings, unsaved options for social network options in ticker options, ticker time delay nut saving, etc etc... it's because there aren't proper permissions given to the dbdata/databases/com.android.settings/tt_prefs or something like that I managed to fix it, and I can release a quick patch that fixes it, I just didn't know anyone else was having the issues, haha

That patch would be great! Hope you release it soon.
While we're on the subject of odd stuff...anyone had an issue with when you plug in USB with the phone on/screen off the phone locks up? Doesn't matter if its the wall charger or connected to a computer. Have to pull the battery and reboot. If the screen is on or if the phone is off then everything works as it should.

EG04, deodex, TB's mods, and then I ran it through TB's themer. Happens when I put it in the desk or car dock too. Just have to remember to turn the screen on

Now remember eg04 is a leak, so things aren't stable. Ddms/logcat logs would be needed to debug

Oh I know...I hope its not coming off like I'm complaining, cause I'm not. I like how the phone works now, there is a 0% chance of me going back to stock. Just putting it out there in case someone else has the same issue.
I'll try to get a log and see what's going on when it happens.

I noticed that my 3G will go out when I'm on wifi, however if wifi isn't connected to internet it will not automatically pick up the 3G. I would recommend if people continue to have problems look and see if toggling off wifi will help bring the network back online. Worked this problem and many others last night. Nearly "bricked" the unbrickable thankfully stayed calm and worked through each problem one at a time and soon will try and reflash CWM and then TB's mods for ec09.
Im having trouble staying connected to wifi at home, it stays connected as long as im in the living room close to the router but when i go into the bed room which is about 20ft away it disconnects and then reconnets several times. The router connection is 5ghz and only me and my wife use it.

First, make sure you've turned off "Auto Network Switch" in the advanced section of Wi-Fi settings (go to Wi-Fi settings and press the menu key and select advanced).
Second, turn off WiFi Power Save mode in the ServiceMenu. Go here for directions.
I done what you said i entered the codes you said to enter on my dial pad and it didnt bring up anything no services menus...nothing. but i did go to wifi and then advance and unchecked the box you said to uncheck and waited to see if it would kick me off and it did it still kicks me off wifi while im in my bed room.

If you're rooted, you'll need to go to /efs/carrier/HiddenMenu....
Open the HiddenMenu file in a text editor and change OFF to ON
Maintaining capitalization of the word ON
Save file.
Then reboot. Try those dialpad codes again.

Dial pad codes worked like a charm went in and changed the band to B4Enabled*. Now im gonna hang out in my room for awhile and see if i get kicked off my wifi. Thanks a bunch for you help i just hope this works oh and yes i went to text editor and then carrier and deleted OFF and replaced it with ON then restarted my device then went back into carrier to make sure it saved and all is good. Just hop it fixes my problem. Thanks again.
Now i need to tryn figure out how to make my call signal better....lots and lots of fun this phone is
When it kicked me off before it took awahile before it would connect back. While in the process of typing i got kicked off but connected back veryfast. Strange because im only about 15ft or so away from the router. I have noticed a big difference though, before my bars would fluxuwait from 1 bar to 5b now it usually stays at 5.
Anyother suggestions i can try
Go into your router settings and check/change the frequency(2.4-5) and the broadcast channel to match what the phone is using
Turns off the power save mode worked for me. Thanks. Now I don't want to flash to a custom to anymore. Thanks.

I just upgraded my wifi from 3megs up to 12 megs. Im still having trouble downloading files that are 1g and up. I downloaded speed test.net and checked my down & up down reads 10.92m and up reads 2.23m but when im downloading a file say its 1.25g it slows waaaay down to like .94m is it supposed to do do that? Im the only one connected to my wifi at the moment.

12mb/s is a pretty slow speed. It's going to take a long time to download it. When you're downloading a file the speed you see is Mb/s not mb/s. Megabytes and megabits are a lot different.
AT&T service person came out today and upgraded my internet, from 3megs to 12megs. I asked the tech how fast it would download a 2g movie his answer was, " it should take about 15 mins at the most". Wireless is just a f#@$in scam the co$k [email protected]$!ers will tell you anything so they can get ypur money! The highest they offer in my area is 12megs funny thing about 15 miles from where i live they offer 50megs. Its just a rip off!! Im feed up EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD IS A MONEY RACKET...MONEY MONEY MONEY......IM SOOO PISSED
