Thanks to a lot of great information in these forums, I was able to get the Superclean 2.8 ROM [3.7.2011] installed.
But I am having one problem -- the calendar is not aware that DST begins this weekend. All of my calendar events this week are displayed correctly. All of the events next week are one hour off. I have calendars coming from multiple sources -- Google, my company exchange server -- but all of them have the same problem.
On the other hand, I'm not able to find anyone else reporting this issue, so I'd guess it isn't specific to the ROM itself.
But what could it be?
That's interesting... sorry i don't have an explanation for you.
But maybe it'll update once the clock updates via the satellite?
Cuz i know on my older phones (this is my 1st smartphone), the time didn't update for over 12 hrs if i didn't make or receive a call
Everyone has this issue!

There hasn't been a fix to this yet but it is inherent in your Google Calendar. Your Gmail calendar will have the correct times but when it syncs, the phone calendar must still be on the old DST or something. Hopefully it will correct itself this weekend. Shocked that no one has tried to fix it. Hard to find it in message boards but many others are having this issue.
Yeah, this is an issue independent of the SC releases. The calendaring app seems to be extremely dependent on correct time zone information and there seems to be a problem with using the Automatic network-provided values for date, time and time zone. When I turn off the Automatic network date & time and then select my time zone manually, my calendar events display correctly both for Standard Time and for DST. Additionally, any appointments I create for a period within DST appear correctly. This was not the case when using Automatic. If Automatic is selected the appointment time for an appointment scheduled in DST is advanced an hour when viewed in the web-based Google calendar.
This issue created huge issues for my wife who uses the Google mobile calendar heavily.
I have the same problem with a different twist. Most of my appointments were an hour off but some of them weren't. Now that DST has hit, most of my appts show the correct time but some of them are an hour off. It's hard to trust my calendar now.

I tested this issue in many ways. If you created an appointment in your calendar and have your Android calendar set as default, it won't change (I think). I created appointments on my computer in Outlook and when it synced to my Smartphone, it was an hour later. I just create all my appointments on my Android device and everything is consistant. Now after DST has occurred, unbelievably, everything is fine. I wonder now if we'll have this problem again when DST is over.

apologies if this has already been answered somewhere.. if so could you please direct me to the answer.
i recently upgraded and got wm 2005. i'm running pocketbreeze on the today screen and i'm having a problem with appointments being one hour out. if i go to the calendar and make the appointment 8-9, it comes up as 9-10 in pocketbreeze.
however its not quite as simple as that.. there are SOME appointments (i *think* they're the ones i've made in outlook) that appear at the CORRECT time. although, they happen to have moved back one hour. IE, one appointment i had went from 7-8.30, it moved back to 6-7.30, but said 6-7.30 in BOTH pocketbreeze AND the calendar.
to confuse matters more, i *think* (i'm at work right now so i'm not 100% sure) that the times that are showing in pocketbreeze are the same times that are showing in outlook.
SO - this is basically it: any appointments i make in the calendar on the phone appear in pocketbreeze and outlook one hour early. appointments i make in outlook appear correct in all 3.
i've double checked the regional settings and both my phone and computer are set to the same place. can anyone shed any light on this odd issue?
You are certainly not alone. I've seen this reported on this board a few times. I do not recall the solution but perhaps you can try a few searches perhaps using advanced options on things like synchronisation time etc.
I do remember various theories about this but not one that came to a definitive conclusion. One for example was that the phone company was sending auto sync info of the wrong time zone for the area (ie not wrong time just zone). This seemed to be most reported in parts of Australia it might help to search on some of the time zone abbreviations.

hi mike - thanks for your help. i ended up finding something on whirlpool.net.au
for anyone else with this problem (i think its specific to my phone, jasjam, and my carrier, telstra) the solution was:
Go to Start, Settings, Phone.
Scroll right until you get to the time zone tab on the bottom.
Uncheck the “Automatic change time zone and clock.” Option
Then go to the today screen and select the time.
Change the time up a couple of hours and press ok and Yes to save the time.
Go back and fix the Time and Time Zone to correct setting,
Again press ok and yes to save the time, this will commit this to the ROM and fix the time settings.
post is here:

Thank you benzothegreat for providing this feedback and summarising the conclusion, cheers.

This works!!!
I have a T-Wing, WM6 and I was having the same problem, the reminders for bdays showing up one day earlier..and noticed that the issue was only for dates were the DST applied . I'm not that concerned about outlook showing duplicate bday reminders , but I do care about showing them on the wrong date..... long story short.. here is the fix:
1. Goto http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=E343A233-B9C8-4652-9DD8-AE0F1AF62568&displaylang=en and download the Microsoft Office Outlook Tool: Time Zone Data Update Tool for Microsoft Office Outlook
2. Follow instructions and install.
3. After instalation completed, goto start -> all programs -> Microsoft office outlook tools -> Time Zone Data Update Tool -> Time Zone Daylight Savings Update Mode
4. It will update your appointments/ reminders (including bday reminders) and show them on the right date!
Guys,
Did anyone notice that when you set your appointment to Full Day, it will not appear on the stock Lock Screen, it will only show appointment with Start Time and End Time.
Any solution to that?

Yes it's true........any solution?
Also noticed this... bummer...
I though about contacting HTC for this one, but since the lock screen is a WinMo default, they don't have anything to do with it...
However, maybe there is a reg tweak someone found regarding what to show or not to show on the lock screen?
I think they did that on purpose. To show your next appointment just before it. What they didn't consider is if you have two appointments in a row. The second appointment will show when your second meeting has started, which is too late.
They should consider this:
I have two or three appointments, set as tentative, that are running in the same time. This means, if I understand correctly, that I will basically choose one of them to attend to. However, if I only want to remember which appointments are next (so I'll quickly turnon the screen, the lock screen pop-up up and shows some quick calendar info), I can only see one of them, thus completely forgeting about the rest of them...
Now I'm sure they could have found a better way of doing this!
For some reason, if an all day event was not set via HD2 for example on a web browser, I dont even see an all day event at all in any views (day, week or month).

I'm not quite sure I understand how you set an event in the Web Browser... Are you talking about OWA here? If so, you should check your ActiveSync server configuration settings. Maybe the app. are not downloaded because you chose not to sync them with your server! Or maybe you are using the Peak Time feature, and you've tried to create an appointment outside the peak time: the result is that you'll see the appointment in your phone only after:
1. you manually Send/Receive
2. you wait for the automatical Send/Receive to occur
3. you get into the Peak time
Hope it helps!

Sorry should of made it clearer. I am using Exchange server. I have push enabled, so auto send/receive. If I set an all day event using OWA, this does not show on HD2, if however I set an all day event on the HD2 it shows on both the server and phone. ROM 1.43 was fine, however 1.48 has this bug. I also have a touch pro and Omina 2 which also work fine.

This is what I just did:
- i've created an all day event for today and an event that starts at 11:45 AM, today. Both were synced with my phone, after I've pressed the Sync button in ActiveSync, so this works.
- afterwards, I've created an event that will start on 14:00, and waited for it to be synced with my phone (so NO manual Sync) -> worked like a charm.
- since the two app from above were created using the Office Outlook app. from my laptop, I've now created an app. from OWA, which starts on 12:30. Once again, there it is. I've also created an all-day app. for tomorrow from OWA: worked again!
Could you please detail on what date and which options are selected for you app. that doesn't appear in the phone calendar?
Good luck!

Hi, any other appointments except all day events work fine. All day appointments for either today or any day in the future (if set via OWA) do not show on the calendar on the HD. What ROM are you running, because I didnt have this problem with 1.43 rom only 1.48.

1.48.405.2 (71294) here. I've just deleted the exchange account and tried again. It still wont sync all day events. Bloody annoying. Oh and phone rang and crashed. My patience is being tested!
Uhm...
Phone crashing while calling: that a new one...
As for the sync issue, do you have a second Exchange account you could test? Surely, using a different server.
Also, what version of Exchange do you use?
hey,
not sure how others are dealing with this and htc are little help.
every phone i've had so far changes appointment times with timezones. so in the past i've never bothered and just put in appointments in local time and changed only the clock when travelling.
The hd2, however, insists on changing time zones for me from the mobile network, and all my appointments shift as well.
i've tried setting timezones in my pim, but this is not supported by the hd2. so how do i stop shifting timezones, or shifting appointment times? is there a nicely integrated calendar app for the hd2 that would use timezones and syncs with intellisync? any suggestions welcome.
cheers
ps:i could set my appointments in with the timezone offset, but i like planning trips in local time, i remember times better that way...
I have not faced your problem - I am not sure that I understood however. I have my HD2 syncing with Outlook via Exchange. I set up my appointments mainly in desktop Outlook in the correct time zone and they get nicely synced in my HTC when I change countries. E.g. suppose I am in GMT +2. Say I have an appoinment at 10:00 (at GMT +1). I set it as such in outlook.( naturaly when I am still in GMT+2 my appointment shows as 09:00) When I visit the country with GMT+1, the phone changes the time zone and my appointment shows nicely at 10:00.
not using outlook
we use Groupwise in my work, and if you set your appointment for 10.00 GMT +1 and are in GMT +2 it still shows at 10.00, and as HTC doesn't support timezones it syncs it as 10.00.
i could do what you describe manually, no problems, but as I said, if I'm planning a trip (in this case I'm sitting in GMT +2) and the calendar shows 9.00, my brain thinks 9, slow as it is, when I get to GMT +1. I like to see the local times in front of me, so i would like the phone to ignore timezone shifts in appointments as well. I don't like all this automatic 'help'.
so your outlook setup would confuse the hell out of me, but that might just be me
will have to go that way though, relearn my habits...
I need some help. I've had my phone for almost 2 weeks. Beginning a couple of days ago, my phone is erasing google calendar entries.
What's particularly strange is that when I enter google calendar entries into the phone, the entries sync with my google account. The entries remain visible on the google account, but are not visible on the phone.
If I enter the calendar entry on google directly, it will appear and remain on my phone. So the problem is strictly with google calendar entries entered on the phone. They sync and then disappear.
I'm having this problem as well, but only for one of my secondary google calendars. Very frustrating. I'm thinking that using stock calendar might fix this...
FYI I just took a look at mine... calendar entries created on the web but edited on the phone do not seem to be affected. Can you confirm?
I too am having a similar problem (I use Google Calendar on the desktop, and my Vibrant calendar is synced to Gcal as well). I haven't had time to test out all the permutations, but the basic issue is: when I "Edit" a repeating event on the phone, and then hit "Save," the event disappears instantly (from both the phone's calendar and desktop Gcal). It doesn't matter whether I actually made any changes while editing -- it's just the Edit and Save that does it.
Once or twice, the event has magically reappeared a little while later -- but generally it does not.
I have also had the opposite thing happen: I've edited a repeating event and ended up with a DUPLICATE event (also repeating) on the calendar -- same event, same details, just one day earlier than the "real" event (which is still there).
Don't know if this detail is significant (again, I haven't tested rigorously), but it has been YEARLY repeating events (birthdays) which have been duplicated, and MONTHLY repeating events which have been deleted.
The only "solution" I've arrived at is to only edit events (or at least repeating ones) from the desktop, and not the phone (...and hope this bug is fixed in an update?).
(By the way, all my events have been created on desktop Gcal directly; so I can't speak to how creating events on the phone may play into this.)
One thing that's actually worked for me is to rename the calendar my phone kicks out. I've found that when I do that, things magically reappear. Currently, I'm on #4.

Interesting, thanks -- can you elaborate? (I went to Calendar settings, but can't figure out how to change names -- there's just "My Calendar," which I don't use, and the Google calendar.)
Yup -- I actually changed the name in the desktop/web client, not on the phone. It took a bit for the updated calendar to push to the phone, but once it did, everything was peachy again.

tried this and no fixy...
Does anyone else have the same problem I'm having? You "Edit" a repeating Gcal event on the phone, and it just disappears (from both phone and desktop) when you hit Save? (Even if you made no changes?)
I'm sure everyone's probably aware of this, but you never know (it took me a week to figure it out)...
The Samsung Calendar defaults to "My Calendar" and not your Google Calendar like every other Android phone, so that any new event created is created in "My Calendar" unless you select to create the event in your Google calendar every single time you make a new event. This can not be changed and is the case EVEN IF THE CALENDAR IS SET TO NOT DISPLAY "MY CALENDAR." (which is, possibly, the worst case of software design I can think of in recent memory).
There is an easy fix for this: use pretty much any other of the many free or inexpensive calendar apps. The Samsung Calendar blows. And this is coming froma guy that generally likes most of the other Touchwiz stuff.
I assume other calendar apps will sync easy with Gcal (it's just ActiveSync, right)? Any in particular you recommend? Thanx
I've been using Gemini Calendar for a few weeks. Takes some getting used to and it kinda ugly, but it's got plenty of customizations.
Anyone else experienced Exchange support is just a mess in Froyo?
- can't edit a lot of previous appointments i made myself in my Outlook calendar at work. Can't figure out the precise conditions under which this occurs, when i create new testappointments this does not occur of course.
- recurring appointments have turned into meetings, showing myself as the only attendee.
- my wife's Hero running Froyo reduces all day event start dates one day at a time every time the all day event is opened for editing (making the all day events last 2,3,4,5,6 days and so on)
- my wife's Hero turns all day events into meetings as soon as they are opened, but only if they are opened via the standard calendar app, not through the Agenda Widget (Rolf Harrisons)
And i see a lot of other Exchange bugs mentioned on all aother Froyo phones (i.e. Nexus). Code.Google.com is full of Exchange related rants.
I can't remember Eclair suffering from this, to me Froyo is a big f#*k up on Exchange support.
Both phones have been Factory Resetted after installing Froyo.
I'll start looking into Touchdown because both our phones have major issues with Exchange accounts.
I haven't encountered the calendar issues yet but have seen the email app turned into a nonfunctioning fc when trying to access exchange on Froyo. I tried Touchdown but it was almost as laggy. I've found Roadsync to be better. Sadly neither of them syncs with the Android calendar app.
