So I flashed royal thunder to my phone and 15 min later 4G drop. So I reflashed, did a complete wipe and everything, nothing, tried different kernels...nothing. the only way I can regain 4g, is by flashing my stock restore. Then when I go back to royal thunder it drops 4G 15 min later. I tried posting on royalthunder but couldn't due to the lack of posts, tried contacting the dev via pm and got no response, I'm sure I went about it all wrong. Anyways I'm running the newest royal thunder, with fauxs sv kernel version 7.9.2, and clockwork 3.0.0.6 any help would be much appreciated.

Im having random 4G and 3G signal drops with the royal thunder rom as well. Im running Fauxs 0.8.2 , I tried full wipe, including the format boot, system, data, cache, dalvik etc..
kinda sucks that I cant post in the development forum to get feedback from the devs, I doubt they look in here. Whats up with that 10 post marker?? I've been a long time lurker and finally decided to sign up.. I dont really like to post that much unless I find my post to be useful and helpful to the community.. otherwise why SPAM? I guess i'll spam my way to that 10 post marker in order to give feed back to the devs in the proper forum. Its a cool way to control the kids who dont know what they are doing, but for people who do know, I think its unfair. anyway, sorry for the vent..

I use CM7 RC2... I don't think I get 4G as well... when I'm online it shows H and when its not.. just shows 3G... I don't know whats the big difference between 3G and 4G anyways.
It's not like in cm7 (i know what you're talking about). I have 4G after a fresh install, then 5-15 min, or after I'm done downloading something big, it will drop 4G for good. I have to restore factory glacier, then restore my royalthunder backup in order to get 4G back. I HAVE TO go back to factory glacier or it won't work. I tried flashing to cm7=no 4G till glacier flash, royal liquid = same, royal ginger = same. I have to go back to glacier before my 4G works. I've tried every combination of wiping and formatting and fresh install....nothing works. I tried the newest faux kernel and newest royal thunder as well. I'd try to work it out more but I'm in between places and do not have access to adb to get a logcat or what not. I'm just dealing with -4g because I love the hell out of royalthunder, again...I would appreciate any help at all, I'm out of ideas.

I think the data is read differently on mysense. When i had used ice glacier i would have H most of the time i was using my device. With other roms not made for mytouch the data is read by how much your using and when you hit 4g speeds, only then will you get the H. stock may just show when 4G is avalible even though you may not not be hitting it hense the 60k per sec after 5gig of data even though thats like 2g or less.. at least thats how i see it.

I have the same issue on royal ginger. But I think I figured out why it does that! (Well for me anyways) I noticed that when I am not loading anything on my phone, it goes into 3G, but when I am on something like facebook or using the internet, I get the H back while something is loading or while I'm downloading an app. I think they did this intentionally in order to save some battery life! If I am wrong, please correct me loll

so did guys find a solution?
yea i called tmobile recently some people only got the 2gb data plan others got the 5gb data plan they fail to mention that little limitation as they constantly throw the word unlimited in your face. your entitled to only 2 to 5gb of 4g data and unlimited 2g data! also Tmobile towers have gone down in several locations do to storms or w.e reason the representitives dont really know much but they can check to see if maybe you are located in one of the areas being affected with loss of service unfortunately i was in one of them so all i ever saw was the E with the arrows which means i barely had service hope this helps

It's an "EVO 3G" in most parts of the U.S.
Even if it were available to me right now I would still use CM6.
No 4G is worth the sacrifice for a fast running ROM... but I can't want for a CM6 with 4G!
Once you have 4g, you will never want to go back to 3g, the speeds are so much better in every app that uses any kind of data.

CM6 is a great ROM but 4g can be had without sacrifice in Fresh or Baked Snack.

One of the things I liked the most abt CM6 is, modificable power control widget (add or take what you want on it), quick keyboard responsiveness, um can't think of anything else. I normally flash Fresh (3.2.0.0 donate version off HTC's latest 3.28.651.1 build with a MUCH IMPROVED stable and battery saving kernel by HTC, BIG IMPROVEMENTs over Kingklick's kernels! I mean BIG!!!)
When I feel like it, I switch to CM6 to toy around...when it comes to business and stability, I like Fresh (wish there was a senseless version of Fresh!)

Yeah, I mean, we're all paying $10 for 4G. Even though we're not all covered by 4G, it is always an option when traveling, etc. Seems silly to regress IMHO.

If you know how to use a computer you can do it. It looks more intimidating than it is. If you're still on 2.1 use Simple Root (doesn't get any easier). Froyo is a little more lengthy but its not hard. Just read through the tutorials a few times and it won't seem so bad. Sorry to jack the thread.

i will be switching to cm6 once 4g is working. i suppose if i lived in some backwoods area that has no 4g i wouldnt mind not having 4g, but man 4g really helps when doing things on the phone that require lots of data. not only that but sometimes 3g can get so damn saturated that speeds are terrible, usually happens at concerts or places where there are lots of people, i just switch to 4g and bam im good haha.
Phoenix isn't backwoods and Sprint doesn't offer 4G here....

I gave in last night and after 2 weeks of telling myself it wasn't worth the risk of bricking my phone, I rooted it and installed CM6 Stable. It is a great rom, luckily the 4G for me is 2 hours away and I get great 3G coverage so its not a big deal. I saw they made the front page on Engadget today it seems like I jumped aboard at the right time.
Anything i should know before i do it??

will all my apps erase?
does it format my SD CARD?

Ok, things you need to know:
1.rooting your phone will void your warranty.
if you ever do a warranty exchange with sprint, your phone needs to be "UN"-rooted.
2.about your contacts , download a backup app from the market, i prefer mybackuppro. Just in case something goes wrong, which is rare.
3.YOU will be able to delete those annoying stock apps and free up memorie with root explorer .
Good luck!!!!!!

I've had my phone rooted since shortly after they were released and I have flashed all kinds of half working bootleg ROMs/hacks, my 4G still works perfectly.
There are some who manage to hose their 4G their first try though, I don't see how though since mine still works after all the stuff I've done to it. I've also never used Unrevoked to root either though.
I thought that using clockwork took away 4g. Is this not correct? And btw I apologize, I thought that it makes your 4g keep saying scanning (it does that to me in a 4g area and says unknown in my 4g info in about phone)

Hey thanks.. well nothing erased of my contacts.. and with the voiding the waranty.. my brother works in sprint.. so hopefully.. if something does go bad well maybe he can do something. well i already rooted the phone. everything went fine.. and how would u UNROOT THE PHONE?
Your 4G WILL BE FINE!!!! Really think we would have such an active community if rooting killed one of the main selling points of the Evo?
Just follow root instructions exactly, dont flash a different recovery if you have 2.02 hboot, and you will be just fine.

Video to UNroot I've done it, it works fine. The biggest thing is making sure it says S-OFF on the bootload screen when you power on while holding the down volume button.
Now you'll want to put a different ROM on it, since stock rooted will land you random force closes and such. First, do a NANDROID backup by booting into recovery and doing a backup. I personally copied my backup to my laptop just in case I loose or break the SD card. A nandroid backup is like a "snapshot" of the way your phone is right now. It'll save everything including contacts, kernels, the current ROM you're on, the apps, Data, etc. Literally everything.
Now check out some different roms!
The most popular right now is Cyanogen 6, MIUI, and Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo. I'm using Myn's because it still contains 4G. Myn's is a sense based ROM and most sense based ROMS retain 4G. Cyanogen and MIUI are both AOSP based, basically meaning they're built from the ground up and are way different than your stock ROM. Cyanogen just figured out the encoding for 4G so very soon they will release a 4G version, then MIUI and the rest will follow once he releases the encoding.
Hope this helps!
4g works on Myn TwoPointTwo also. Am I wrong?

There is no rom that will make 3g faster. You can do the proxy hack, or data profile restore. The problem is sprint's network, not roms.
i think what you may be referring to is when cm 6.x.x and team win launched betas for wimax. there were reports of it also increasing 3g speeds. dont get me wrong major breakthrough, exciting moment. it may have just been more of speculation and hype, because at the time there was no 4g icon and the 3g icon would stay on when connected to wimax. the speculation "there have been reports that it was increasing 3g speeds" was also then posted on the OP page. after it merged to cm7 the same cm6.x with wimax thread was used... cleaned up, edited to cm7 with wimax and claims removed.

As fast as Cyanogen is on the phone, CPU/GPU wise, it's networks speed are a tad slower then other ROMS. That i am aware of there is nothing to you can do increase network speed. If that were possible i believe they would have already done it and build it into the ROMs.
Agreed with above. Not much that can be done. You can try editing your build.prob. look in the q&a stickies and there is an explinarion on how to do it.

When using CM or any derivitives of (maybe even AOSP) you will be connected to 3G most of the time until you download or need to use 4G then it will automaticlly switch.
With the stock rom it does not differentiate (visually) between 3G and 4G so even though you think you are on 4G all the time you might not actually be.

Is this why you have posted at least 15-20 times today in different threads with pretty much off topic useless comments? Trying to get your post count up since your account was created yesterday? I for one would never flash a Rom from some one that isnt or hasnt been a part of this community for some time. I also saw this post from you (only a hour ago) that makes me wonder....you are building Roms yet had to have help rooting a phone that is really very simple to root. This of coarse is just my two cents, and of coarse everyone is able to do what ever they want.

While you are new, I'll try that as soon as other people have given a thumbs up to it. but PLEASE try and make the gps consistent. That alone is why I'm sticking with the stock rom - any rom with good wireless data and fully functional GPS is a winner. ESPECIALLY if it's AOSP.

all vanilla android (aosp) ROMs seem to have this reputation. the people who do see this usually don't have this happen all the time but seems to come in spurts and then be ok for a while.
but one thing that does NOT help the situation is jumping around flashing one new ROM / kernel / radio after another over and over in short periods of time. ..feel free to do this if you're really itching to but just don't clog up all the corresponding threads with questions or comments about your battery life, reception, data speeds, etc .... JUST EXPECT inconsistencies if you're currently indulging your flash crack addiction.
it comes with the territory.
and I'm not trying to say don't try other setups out. but if you are really on a 'quest' to find the configuration (ROM/kernel/radio/etc) that works best for YOU - do yourself a favor and give each setup 3 - 4 days AT LEAST .. ideally a week +
not only for the ROM to have a chance to settle in and show you some kind of consistency but to give your worn out phone and battery a rest!
your glacier will be a much happier little block of ice this way, believe me
happy flashing

I saw this on a thread a while back... dial *#*#4636#*#* and then choose the first option (like phone info or something) then scroll down to where it says wcdma preferred and tap it and switch it to wcdma only and reboot and you'll be on 4g way more than before. I was having the same 3g 4g mess before I found info. Wish I could.thank the original post but I don't remember who it was. I also know that trick works on other android phones as well.

Yes it work for me , but like cmdmilitia13 says the 4G would be on all the time and your battery don'last as long. you can try it out , if you don't like it you can always change the setting back.
