No WiFi under CM7RC1 - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed the CM7 RC1 ROM on my MyTouch 4G. Mostly it seems to work alright, but I can't get WiFi to work at all. It detects the WiFi hotspots, and can get to the point where it attempts to get an IP address, but then it always fails.
Is this a known issue With CM7 RC1? Should I be using one of the nightlies instead?
Thanks.

reboot will fix it

I've rebooted numerous times but it never works. I've tried both secure and open routers.

Try using Faux's CM kernel.. I am using CM7 RC1 with his latest kernel and having no wifi issues.. hope that helps.

Wifi Error

So after a search here and through Google I haven't been able to get this fixed. I was running CyanogenMod 5.0.8 without problems, but wanted to try out Chromatic 4.5. After flashing Chromatic, WiFi worked for a few hours, but then it just suddenly stopped working. From the "Power Widget" WiFi just shows the grey bar below it like it's turning on/off, but it's not doing anything. When I click it, it does nothing. If I go to Wireless and Networks from the Menu, WiFi shows "Error" up under it. The only possible solution I've found was for the Droid that said to try flashing the ROM using a GoldCard, but that was with the Droid 2.2 update. I gave it a shot anyways with no success. I tried flashing with and without the GoldCard, and in both scenarios I tried flashing with and without a wipe. I restored my CM backup and WiFi is working again, so it's not a hardware problem (which I didn't think it was in the first place). Any help would be greatly appreciated guys and gals.
Bump, just to get back to the top I'd really like to get this straightened out.

Read and search the posts in development. It is simple to fix that error. Your situation is an incompatible rom. Try using CM6.

Incompatible ROM???? It's a ROM using the CM 6 kernel and WiFi worked initially, so that's out the window. Thanks for the input though.
I have had the same problem since 0825 nightlies (nightly prior to CM6 official). Wifi works on the 0825 nightly but EVERYTHING since I get the wifi error. Logcat reports wifi driver failed to load. I have manually tried starting the driver, but still this damn error. I did flash the TMUS Froyo cm6 remix and that rom my wifi worked perfectly. I have flashed both pershoot and dumfuqs kernels--still the error. I manually pushed all things wlan to my mytouch and still nothing. So, there is no doubt that the error lies in the cm roms (or at least where it is mapping the drivers on our phone). Very frustrating. The fact that there are only a few of us having this problem leads me to believe that it is indeed a hardware issue or we have corrupted memory on our phones.
Anyway, I have given up trying to fix it. If you find a way, please post.
But, try flashing the tmus froyo remix AFTER nandroiding your rom and see if wifi continues to work.
I just reverted back to CM 5.0.8 for the time being. I'll probably try the T-Mobile 2.2 for the 32B since I'm sure someone will port it to the 1.2 once they get their hands on it.

Workaround for CM7 wifi issues

So yesterday, after having CM7 loaded for about 2 weeks, my wifi stops working.. After doing a bit of research I discover its a common problem, so I try the various solutions including changing the number of channels and both upgrading & downgrading my radio image, but nothing works.. Somewhere along the line I lost my ClockWorkMod recovery image & being the newbie that I am I decided to go back to the start & follow the process that I initially used to root (the one at unlockr.com), but at the last step, instead of installing the rootedupdate.zip file I decided to try my luck with installing CM7 again, & lo & behold it worked, wifi's working again...
not really sure which step of the root process fixed the issue but if I had to guess I'd say the correct radio image was flashed, maybe someone could properly identify the correct solution...?
My adb logcat session shows that its trying to connect to some network that is unavailable and fails. ı tried to remove the 2nd , 3rd offline networks and it started working.
thanks very much deleting the saved networks worked!! wifi back on

Indeed it works...but only for the first time. As soon as you disable WiFi and enable it once again, the problem is back. So you will have to delete the saved networks one by one, each time you want to connect and in the end you will have no more saved networks left (like me). Now the only "workaround" is to enter the network details every time I want to connect.
Is there still ni working solution for this?
still no WLAN
Having to choose the lesser evil between:
no GPS under CM 7.1 or
no WLAN under CM 7.0.3 I chose the latter.
The antenna works, tethering too, the signal is detected, but logging into a WLAN fails, it keeps scanning over and over. Deleting other networks didn't work.
Any hint?
BTW, I tried 7.2 nightlies... since Market (aka g-Play) is missing there is no real use so far.
Apart from that - CM rules!
I am using both of them right now and it is okay.
Sometimes I won't get any GPS fix and I have to switch it off and on again (or restart the phone in the worst case) to have signal.
CM 7.1 with latest radio (7.13.35.13).

Using cm7.2 last nightly and every thing works just fine! Give it a try!

Don't know if this will help, but I had wifi issues and GPS issues, but flashed new radio
7.08.35.21 and flashed CM7.2.0 RC1 (KANG) unofficial ROM and everything has been sweet since. GPS quick to lock and no wifi issues at all....
give it a try

The radio should be the difference here as it seems that CM > 7.1 don't have GPS bugs anymore.
Update your radio version to newest (7.13.35.13). Everything work fine in CM7.2 for me.
I know it s been a bit but thanks for the info helped alot deleting the random networks while out and about after deleting 3 wifi runs great

NC Wifi not working in Cm7 and stock

I am running cm7 ver. 7.0.3-encore of my sd card. And I am having some issue with my nook color since this moring.
When I turned on wifi it didn't show the little wifi icon in the status bar, so I checked in the wireless & networks settings, it showed that the wifi was scanning. And this is where it stuck.
I turned on and off the Airplne Mode, it started working again after that. I even used it for some time.
But now when I tried connecting wifi again on my NC it showing the same problem i.e. stuck in scanning mode without the little wifi icon.
I tried agin with the Airplane Mode but this time it did not work.
I remove the sd card and boot to stock, even in stock it does not connect to the wifi. The wifi shows as enabled but it cannot connect to my home network.
I looked noline but cant find any solutions specific to my problem. Is anyone having such a problem with their wifi on NC??
FYI the bluetooth is working so i guess its more of a software issue than a hardware one, but i could be wrong.
what should i do to fix this problem??
Try standing right next to a wifi router and see if you get anything. There's a possibility that there's something wrong with the antenna.
Go into the wifi settings and delete all of the access points. Reboot and try again.

this worked perfectly.... wifi is working from both the systems i.e. stock and sd card cm7...
just for my knowledge... y did this happen??
I sometimes have to go through the steps of deleting my access point. I just always assumed it was my crap router or at the least a mix of nook and my crap router.
ok this is getting irritating... it worked for 2 days... this is crap...
now its not working... same problem... no wifi icon and stays in scanning mode for sometime...
repeating the previous fix does not work...
why is this happening???
Try upgrading to the latest nightly and then fix permissions in rom manager.

connects but can't get wifi

I hope someone can help me with this.
I have an ideos X5 and this happens with both aurora and miui roms (all ICS).
At home, I can connect perfectly to my WPA2 PSK network and use it.
At work, I can connect to the WPA2 PSK network, I get all dhcp settings, but can't connect to anything. I can't even get dns resolution for google.com.
The laptop and my ICS tablet both work perfectly on these networks.
Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot and solve this problem?
Both aurora and miui already worked in this network, but I can't reproduce it now, even with wipes and different versions installed.
Happns the same with since yesterday! I'm using the Elora ROM, and already reinstalled it over and over and still doenst work =( any help??

Go to the latest Elora/Aurora zip/update that worked and extract wpa_supplicant from system/bin/
replace it with the one on your phone.
reboot

If you are on CM7, this happens. WiFi connects but soon disables although it still shows a working connection.
Check whether you have the correct WiFi drivers installed (there are two, search around for them).
Try updating to the latest baseband for your region.
Work-around: Try "Wifi Reassociate" app. Download it from Play Store. It periodically pings to a specific IP address keeping the WiFi connection alive. If it finds that WiFi is not working, it re-enables it.

those wifi drivers are for stock only
if on cm7 you must use biels kernel if the rom is his base if you want wifi to work
there is nothing wrong with wifi on cm7 as I use it all the time

Yes, I know that.
I always experienced WiFi issue on CM7 on every baseband I tried for my region. Other users from my area too have this issue.
Anyway, I now use a stock-based ROM and have no issues.
