Ok this is question specifically for the A7. I had games and apps before the Dexter mod and they didn't have ads in them. Since I modded the A7 to get google market I am getting ads in every app. These apps are the same apps I had before the Dexter mod, and some of them I did not get from google market (appoke, getjar, and appbrain). What is causing the ads is it google market or the Dexter mod?
Appbrain wouldnt work till after i got the dexter mod.
Does anyone know of a app that will block them? The ads also show up whether I have my wi-fi on or not.
Thanks for the suggestion of the ap to block the adware im getting, but it seems I need to clarify things.
I did not have AD before I did the dexter mod 1.3, but now I have them. The apps I had I did not get from google market and they were ad free. After doing the Dex mod I redownloaded the same aps that I had before from the same place. (appoke and getjar) Now they had ads in them.
Is the dex mod putting ad in the aps or is it because by default having Google market on your device the reason I am getting the ads in all the apps?

Thats just what happens with free apps, they are ad supported. Sometimes they load, sometimes they don't, I see that in games like Angry Birds all the time.
IDK added Dexter modified hosts-files in his MOD, but stock ROM doesn't have any blocking rules. So every ads are there.
To eliminate ads you should use ADFree
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bigtincan.android.adfree
But it is not good idea cause app-developers would not get extra money and would not have motivation to develop.
I warn you
would love to get better explanation of where ads are coming from.
Is it just default that if you have google market you get ads or is it the dexter mod.
I didnt have ads before i downloaded the dexter mod to get google market. the apps I have are the same ones i had before the dexter mod and they had no ads in them, also I didnt get the aps i had from google market.
thanks for replies and yes i did install the ADfree ap.
yes it works but in some of the aps it blocks ads in it shows a place holder where the AD was, stating it cant load the ad(not in those exact words).

Yeah. It could not enter into app and cut ads inside))
It blocks only common adware links.

Its not Android Market or Dexter. Free apps tend to be ad supported. I find that if the ads bother me, I turn off wifi and of solves the problem except for a few that seem to cache their ads.

So when I attempted to purchase any app on the market (that costs money), I would get an error stating that there was a problem processing the request and to see checkout.google.com to fix it.
Well I logged into my checkout.google.com account, using the same credentials that are present on my phone, and there is nothing. No attempts at purchases or anything.
1. Does anyone know why I can't purchase anything (i have set up a payment method on my checkout account and everything)
2. How do I get the market to show the apps that have disappeared. Namely Hello IM! and SnapPhoto Pro do not appear in the market at all.
I have deleted the cache for the market to see if that would help, but didn't.
Is there some sort of issue with JF ADP 1.1h that doesn't allow for purchasing apps?
Google is blocking protected apps (not just payed) in the market to adp's. Flash jfs rc33 is you want root and protected apps.
I have RC33 and root and can't see a lot of apps, prettysure it isn't just ADP phones getting blocked.

It also has to deal with your sim card more than anything.
Google blocks paid apps for unlocked G1 users
by Nancy Gohring, IDG News Service
Interesting fact - I couldn't see any paid apps available in the market. But when I turned on Wifi and then looked at the market, the paid apps were there!

Well, that seemed to fix it...I still think it's weird that I could see the paid and protected apps, but could not buy them...I didn't even think of switching back to RC33 from ADP. Makes sense though, considering how horribly sad and pathetic DRM is on the market.
Yeah I had ADP1.1h and couldn't see most of the paid apps. So I switched back to RC33 and they were all there. I don't understand why Google is doing this. They say its to prevent piracy but by not offering paid apps to ADP users they are making worse since the only way to get the apps is through piracy.
It has nothing to do with paid apps... it is protected apps. The Developers are the ones that say an app is protected.

I can see paid apps, I just can't see all apps. Like Bettercut and Quick Office, they don't show up at all for me.
There's a couple of paid apps I wouldn't mind getting but the app store seems to work a little different than the WM one, I haven't signed up for a google checkout account as yet and that could be where I'm going wrong ..
So far Ive only downloaded freebees but when I dump a new build of Android on my phones SDcard all knowledge in the store of my downloads disappears, I assume this info is stored somehow on the SDcard. Is this the case with paid apps as well ??? or will google checkout keep a record of what Ive downloaded and let me download it as many times as I want, bit like the 'WM Market does after youve reflashed a ROM ..

Just like you said, google check out keeps a record of your apps. In my case, in Portugal we dont have access to paid apps, so i have to use market enabler to be able to download paid apps i bought.

Excellent, I'll get the creditCard out then
yes, google saves all the apps you've previously purchased in your download history. i was able to redownload all the apps i had from my previous android phone into the new phone (weather widget, setcpu, etc..) you'll always have it as long as the devs continue to support it (for example, bloo, a facebook client stopped developing, i paid for it but really have no use now)
Every time somethink links to the market, something in the Fire redirects to the Amazon Appstore. Anyone know how to break this? I can't change appstore or market defaults in the Application manager.
//Tapatalk.KindleFire//
Not sure if this really helps but you can use Titanium backup to freeze AmazonAppstore, the links should open then.
I'm glad there's a workaround but I'd love a way to make APK's open in android market from browser, and keep amazon market available.

That sounds like it should work. If OP tries this, he should have to option to not set the Market as the default app. If he doesn't, he should be able to select which app he wants to use each time.
Just rename "MarketIntenProxy.apk" to "MarketIntentProxy.apk.bak" that is located in system/app and reboot. Then market links will open the market and not Amazon's app store
I had Getjar installed on my Elocity when I bought it. If I click on the Getjar icon, I get taken to a page on the Internet that no longer exists. How can I change Getjar so that when I click on it, I will get taken to the Getjar site on the Internet. Is Getjar an okay app, or is there a better one? (I don't believe I can delete the Getjar app from this Elocity A7.)
Also, would anyone know a good, free, weasther app that I could download that would show the weather (in my vicinity) on the Home screen (background) , similar to the time that appears there now?
amazon, google android market
use this to get android market working http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431967
after you root the device you can install the amazon app store and buy the root explorer if you don't get it through other means. it's a useful app, buy it. you can find the getjar program in /system/app, where you drop off the google apps. be careful when you remove the default apps, try to force stop them before uninstalling. 2 of them can't be stopped(one is fring and i can't remember the other, i think it had a light blue icon) and after they are uninstalled will give an error that will keep popping up, just hard reset and continue.
for the weather app, just search 'weather widget' in either app store. keep in mind that app will be a battery drain.

Thank you. Sorry, but I am new at all of this (tablets, etc.) and don't know what you mean by "root," "drop off," "default apps," "force stop," "error popping up," etc. Really confusing and I do not want to make my grandson's A7 unstable, etc.
Im sure this is a silly question but is there an actual regular app store or do you just have to browse though the panels?
There just doesnt seem to be many apps at all to install I figured there must be some better way of getting them more like playstore.
...
I cant get regular playstore working after following the guide. It either flashes and returns to apps list or occasionally goes to the account details screen but no further.
There's the Amazon app store.

Yes, there are other/new places to look for getting Fire TV apps, but unfortunately because of being new in this forum I'm not yet permitted to place external links in my posts (which would be the easiest way to assist) So, just do search on 'fire tv apps 2014' and/or 'fire tv app options' which will lead to some info that should hopefully help? In addition, I found a few recent and relevant links on the 1st page in a Google search for 'finding apps for fire tv'. But as far as there being a store solely for Fire TV apps, I'm not sure if there is one yet
If you can install from unknown sources, there is 1mobile,appchina,wandoujia,voga360,and aptoide.
You can also use evozi and/or apkleecher to get free apps from the Play Store.
And you can even get your purchased apps by signing up at the Evozi APK Downloader page!

Update: @jarayn informs me that it is not a launchable app.
And just to bring it full circle. The Amazon Appstore comes preloaded on the AFTV. It's just very hidden. This is the location on the latest FW.
Go to: Settings / 4) Applications / Manage All Installed Applications / Apptore ( Just scroll down till you find it & launch)

Thats not a launchable app on my fire tv.
Are you saying you can open that and actually browse through apps?
What other "treasures" await those poor schmucks or pre-rooted winners who get the latest firmware?

Humn... Didn't try to open it. Guess it is there but everything is dealt thru the UI. Wonder if there is another app to sideload that might act like an actual appstore. No point though....
I side-loaded the regular appstore apk from Play. Kinda messed things up. Had to Unzip Rbox's pre-rooted ROM to retrieve the correct one from Apps. Then had to R/W with Root Explorer to remove the side-loaded one and replace with the correct one.
Be careful messing with AFTV specifc apps.
