I have noticed that whenever I start up an app it's open before I can react. What I'm trying to get here is that in my personal experience with this phone I haven't had any instances of lag, and frankly I haven't had anything but performance that I thought wasnt possible yet.

It's true. The phone's very quick. It would be PERFECT if Motorola hadn't decided to be ignorant about letting people actually develop for their device. It's a shame. Great phone otherwise...especially with my Class-10 32GB card in there
Yea the phone is pretty damn fast. I loved how everything stayed snappy even when the phone was under stress.
I would occassionally check my task killer and saw over 15 apps running, but the phone would never slow down.

Yep, definitely noticed. I was thinking maybe it has something to do with the dual cores?
I thought it was fast because it has a nice screen. Jk. Tegra 2 is pretty ridiculous in how fast it is. It's more than damn fast, it's instantaneous.

Don't worry, it's an Android. The lags will find you sooner or later.
Yes, mine does freeze up for a couple of seconds here or there, not often and not long but yours will too. "Droid!"
yeah I am totally pissed that my phone is missing the lag feature that I grew to know and love on my captivate. Many times I set the phone down waiting for a task only to realize it was done the second I set it down. Stupid phone!
a phone with no lag!? gee wish i had it : P
mine lags on the dialer screen when manually dialing numbers and will ring a few seconds on a blank screen before the slide to answer screen pops up
I want to see how the phone holds up after people have been using ttheirs for a month or two. I remember my Captivate being that fast when I flashes back to stock 2.1; my Nexus 1 is just as fast and I've been using it for about a month now.

Friend or someone wants to see your phone... You open your "cool" apps to show them..
Phone freezes, locks up, doesn't operate right..
I swear, I can do whatever I want while alone, at my phone works perfect..
Yesterday I show my friends Slingplayer and Homerun3D, sure enough both programs give me problems..
LOL Was in a bad area for slingplayer to work (it works smoothly all the time) and was lagging.. Of course he was like "its a cool concept but who would would ever deal with the skipping"
LOL I swear it never does this, I tell him..
Then I go to show him the Homerun3D game and of course it locks up on me, lol
It always happens like that,...
Sounds like Murphy is a good friend of yours!
That happens to me sometimes but only when I'm doing something totally unimportant.
Your phone knows that your friends are unworthy to bask in its warm embrace and enlightenment.
It goes into clam mode, shuts up tight and looks like a paperweight until you put it away
That or a bad flash mixed with user error
my windows mobile devices did that all the time, i think i got used to it and only thought about how often it happened when it would screw up in front of a friend.
on evo, i dont have any problems.
not trying to be a smart ass but i bet your using a custom rom.

Yea but I use Fresh's custom Rom..
Besides.. Who here actually doesn't use a custom rom?
More than I honestly thought. There is a ton of info on the evo that I find useful, even though I'm rooted stock.
I find my evo to be the most reliable handset I've had since maybe before smartphones were around. I still can't believe I haven't flashed and reinstalled my OS 10 times by now and I have had this since august. Granted I did do some playing around with Roms when I first got it. But every since I decided to give sense an honest shot, I haven't been back to custom.
This is the first android phone for me and the first time I didn't feel the need to tinker around with every little thing.
I loved wm 6.5 but it was still wm, and it was full of reliability issues. I still miss my old touch pro 2 and its kwyboard, but my evo is way more reliable.

Picture a layer cake filled with froyo between the layers. A leaky app makes a hole in the layer, froyo leaks up and mixes with the next layers froyo, causing it to spill and the bottom to collapse. The maitre'd named NAND tries to restore it so it looks like the picture on the menu.
One day the froyo got real warm and the menus were changed simultaneously. NAND could not restore it and even the picture had changed.
You see the chef had thought it would be faster and take less work to refill the layers, rather than to assemble and build them when they were ordered.

Yes it happens all the time! Especially at work where the signal is crappy in the building!
if all fails, i just flip the phone over and say "checkit, it has a kickstand!"

I actually love sense and do not see why people wouldn't want it..
I also got an extended battery which I only use when I know I will not be near a power source for a while.. I have the Otterbox case and just LOVE IT!! so I try to keep with the stock battery..
That being said I use Fresh's rom, because its pretty much stock with some extra goodies.. And full Sense..
I really don't have problems with my phone.. Its just typical with Murphys law,, lol
Oh,i did think of something crappy.
When I first got my evo,i was telling my friends about how awesome it is and how sweet the camera and video recording is, now my video doesn't seem all that great. In fact in 720p it looks so crappy and choppy that I don't feel like its worth having or using.

Just get a higher class SD card and replay that oh crappy video quality scenario all over again.

lol...i can honestly say that I've never experienced that, thank GOD. Have you figured out the root cause?

I don't get it, r u saying that something higher than what I have will fix the issue? I currently have a 16GB class 2.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
You can get a 32gb card and still have same issues. You need a class 4 or above. If I could remember I'd post direct statement from htc employee. A lot go with a class 6, but anything more than class 4 and its all the same fluff. Class 2 just doesn't write fast enough for Evo's video.
Sent from my Evo
I think I saw that conversation about the max speed the evo could take advantage of, but I thought I read some where anything beyond class 2 carries no benefit in how well our evos record video in 720p.
Mine is choppy outside in sunlight and simetimes the video out right freezes for a split second. As far recording inside its so low quality that I don't even try to record.

I picked up the Xoom on launch day and I've been pretty content with it so far, but I won't hide the fact that the device has a lot of random laggy moments, stutters, and glitches. Opening the app drawer looked like it was at 10fps, scrolling through the home screens would lag quite often, etc.
I don't know what happened, but after I just went into the android market to update my applications I swear my Xoom got a speed increase. Going through homescreens is super snappy now, it was never this smooth before. The app drawer looks great when you open/close it now, and everything just seems so snappy now. I was getting a little annoyed by all the home screen lag and random stutters, especially with a dual core processor that just shouldn't happen. I know other users have reported lag as well, has anyone else recently noticed a speed increase?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
Since its that then im willing to bet that you had an app that was (before update) making your xoom seem slower than it should. Now that the app was updated, Xoom runs smoother. Thats my guess.

One application can hijack your Xoom and hose it up. All it takes is one....
I also noticed the lag, and mine is gone now too. When I added my google account, all the apps from my phone were loaded onto my Xoom, plus it was downloading all of my picasa web pics. It was cool, but way too much going on and it installed way too many apps that were probably not cool with honeycomb.
I removed all of the apps and rebooted, and things run perfectly now.
I agree with horsexd. I haven't really felt much lag...well besides in the accelerometer which I think was intended.
I noticed a drop in lag after restarting after initial boot.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Same after restart my xoom is lightening speed.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
I have found that once I got more comfortable with the xoom, I was going straight to what I needed. Not clicking too many things and going back because I meant to open something else.
I have the same experience on my phone.
Hmm. I've been in the market for the past 30 minutes and nothing has changed for me.
Rebooting my XOOM.
The honeycomb boot screen seems to be a bit faster.
[edit] I call shenanigans. The app screen is still choppy when I hit the apps drawer button.
Seems the same to me. Aside from pulling up the app drawer, it's been pretty snappy since I got it.
whenever mine gets turned on, the little honeycomb looking animation is usually choppy. I think once it ran smooth, but it was uber choppy on this first turn on.
I haven`t restarted my xoom but once since I got it and its blazing fast all the time.

Reason for my post is to say, no lag or stutter while running with a live wallpaper.any other phone including the one s..has lag while multitasking with a live wallpaper..I'm going I made the right choice..do you guys see any lag?

none. this thing rocks. data speeds on 3g are sweet too. I used to get about 700kbps on my s2, about 100kbps on my iphone4s, but on this thing I consistently get about 1.5mbps.
I upgraded from an infuse (a sgs 1 variant) and all I can say is wow! This thing is a beast. Areas where I used to drop calls are no longer an issue, WiFi is solid, standard speeds at my home jumped from 2.5mbps to 3.5mbps and I have gotten lte up to 30+mbps.
This phone is simply amazing... multi tasks like a boss, and battery life so far seems better than I could ever wish for on the infuse... and I'm still UN rooted all that bloatware still pin the phone, so I can't imagine how it will be once I dig in to this.
Played shadow gun yesterday, and it runs flawlessly, I usually play on my tablet (tf101) by this looked and operated perfectly.
Im going to check out some more games later in the week when I have time.
Ultimately, this is by far the best phone I ever had, I can't wait too see what comes out next, topping this one will be difficult. JB is going to be sweet, im ready for a little project butter on my phone.

Do you guys have an SMS thread with a bunch of messages? Try scrolling through that. Like...fling from the botton to top...or vice versa. There's lag.
Besides that...any lag/stutter I see is so minimal...that it's just nit pickin'! :cyclops: (oh...when you pull down the notifications...the automatic toggle animation...was smooth the first day...but now, even with a reboot...I see a bit of stutter...very minimal...but, like I said...it's nit pickin')

A quick question for you lucky people who have got your N4s:
What's the multitasking like? I'm hoping it must be flawless with 2gigs of RAM?
Can someone who has GTA3 tell me if you can pick up exactly where you left off, if you've gone out of the game to do other things for a while? On my current phone GS3, it has the annoying habit of kicking me back to the beginning of the last mission I started if I leave the game for any reason. Is this a RAM limitation on my phone, or does GTA3 do this on all phones?
EDIT: I should mention I'm using the international GS3 i9300, that only has 1GB RAM.

My biggest problem with my older phones was that they would constantly close out the apps that I needed to stay open like contacts, messaging, phone. It annoyed me that my old clam shell phones would instantly open contacts and my G2 couldn't open then faster than 4 seconds or so. This thing leaves all those open and they all open instantaneously.

Flawless x2. Seriously, apps stay in memory for a considerably greater amount of time than my Atrix 2, and obviously longer than my Captivate. It makes switching to almost anything smooth and snappy.
Flawless.

What the other guys said - it is really great. No app loses it status, even if you have open quite a few of them. Switching between apps is absolutely fluent, no hiccups no waiting, nothing!

To be honest with you, multitasking has completely amazed me on the N4. On the Gnex, apps would close right away. With the N4, I go back to the browser at the end of the day, and the page I loaded hours earlier is still in memory In fact, I have yet to see my phone go below 950mb RAM remaining. I really think 2gb was overkill (1.5 would've easily done the job), but hey, I'm not complaining Also, keep in mind that I don't use any widgets at all, and I have very few things running in the background aside from Skype, so others may have a different experience.
Edit: As for GTA, it might be the game doing this. For example, Livingsocial is really annoying like that too. It doesn't matter if you just hit home and come back right away, it'll start from beginning. Yet, World of Goo, a much more demanding app, will come back exactly as I left it even when I leave to browse the internet for a while. Some developers really need to get with the program. I personally don't have GTA, so I couldn't tell you specifically.
Perfect. No other word to describe it. So much so I've noticed the phone stuttering a bit when scrolling (like a TINY bit, much less than any other android phone normally) and out of instinct opened the task killer to find 30+ applications all RUNNING. Including GTA3,

OK, I know its good, but 30 RUNNING? You do realize some stay in the launcher but aren't running, right? So you clicked them and they all didn't need to reload? I find that hard to believe. Someone should do a stress test of how many apps you can open before they need to reload when you go back to them and post it on YouTube

If I click on something in the play store it'll highlight what I click then hang for 2-5 seconds, the notification bar lags sometimes, app transitions seems slow and opening the app drawer sometimes lags. For such a powerful phone I can't understand why it seems so slow. Any Ideas? Did I get a dud?

Yeah, it was like this out of the box. Not sure if this helps at all but I tested the playstore on my phone and my roomies Gnex side by side and the Gnex loaded anywhere from half a second-2 seconds quicker.
If it still acts like that after the initial setup with all the tips, the phone has issues. When you first run the initial setup, LG has too much going on. I've probably went through that part like 20 times already.I would personally swap it out. Lemons do happen unfortunately.
