I have the AT&T HTC 8525, went to Iraq and forgot my password. Can anyone help? People want to charge me $100 I can buy a new phone for that but I still need the info I stored on the phone.
The password feature would be useless if you could somehow go around it without clearing all the data on the phone.
So... AFAIK no, there's no way.
You can only save the info that is on your miniSD card

Brother,
Hopefully you have a sim card and not a cdma phone because if you have used the sim manager you would at least have your contacts.
Guys - heres a new one for you (well nothing turned up in a search anyways)...
I'm rooted my Rogers Dream following the excellent instructions here on XDA. Prior to rooting I also had the device SIM unlocked by code.
I never got the chance to test out if the SIM unlocked worked, but putting in a foreign SIM appeared to work.
Anyways I went to New Orleans on business and decided to take the Dream with me.
When I powered on the phone with the Rogers SIM in NO, the device kept crashing and wouldn't register on a US network. Something about Android.com terminated unexpectedly. The phone would then go back to the lock screen and I would put my SIM PIN in again, and repeat the process.
Same thing with a AT&T SIM. The phone was useless in the US. I thought I screwed up something with the rooting.
However I came back to Toronto, and the device is fine again.
Any thoughts?
can't really help you out. All I can say is when I took my rooted phone to the US last week and it worked without issue while roaming. I hadn't unlocked the phone yet so I don't know if it'll work with an AT&T sim card or not.
I have an Rogers Magic being used in California without any problems. I just purchased a Rogers Dream, so when it gets here I'll test it out.

Did you have your phone on all the time or did you turn it off at least once?
Maybe I should just restore my backup and try again.

Thanks - let me know if you root it first - then take it to the States.
Appreciate it.
Looks like I can reproduce the problem in Canada by putting in my AT&T SIM.
The exact error message is "The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

I just threw my AT&T sim card in my phone and got the same error on boot up as well as when I was doing a network search.

A search on the exact error says to do a hard reset. I've tried that and so far it seems okay.
But it seems like these two applications do not behave with a rooted Rogers Dream:
"Toggle Settings"
"SMS Unread Count"

I don't run either of those apps.

1. Press Home.
2. Select Menu.
3. Tap Settings.
4. Tap SD card & phone storage.
5. Under the Internal phone storage section, tap Factory data reset.
6. Tap Reset phone.
The phone will then perform the factory reset.
i rooted my rogers dream, went to san diego and everything was fine. now im back in toronto.
Just got my USA AT&T 3G Compatabile Roger's HTC Dream today.
Got an unlock code from a ebay seller for 6 bucks...
Working on AT&T with my ATT sim with not issues at all.
Rooted before I CIP unlocked (i was waiting for the unlock code, with nothing else to do)
nvm.......
I got a Sim card icon with Blue exclamation over it... And I couldn't get connect to a network , any ideas...
At one point with my MT3G I had a SIM card that would no longer connect; I called tech support, and they eventually determined that I needed a new one. They asked me what store was most convenient for me, then called ahead for me and I was able to go get a replacement free of charge. When all else fails, cal TMO. BTW, I was rooted when that happened, they didn't care, and didn't even look at my phone...since there had already been a call in from customer service, they had the card ready for me, and let me put it in my own phone.

And/or your sim card is upside down

Can the Bravo be used like an iPod without a sim card? Or with a deactivated or unactivated sim card?
I don't see why not. You just won't have service.

You may have problems. I don't have an unactivated SIM, but when I boot mine up with no SIM, I have to log in to my MotoBlur account. With no SIM, it can't get a radio signal, so it won't let me log in.
I can't get on Wifi where I am, so I don't know if that will work.
I am not sure how it would work if you tried to start from scratch with no radio, if it will let you skip creating a Blur login or not...
You can get through motoblur setup with wifi or you can skip it by bringing up the keyboard and and type: eebluroffee. (I think that is what it is)
Just got the Bravo. Without a sim, it would only let me make emergency calls. It does not even go through Motoblur setup. And I could not find a way to bring up the keyboard. I dug up a deactivated sim. Motoblur setup comes up and I registered through wifi. After that I removed the sim, and I can now use it use it as a media player.
I feel my problem is unlike others i have read about for the last few hours...
bought a phone off craigslist
s4 sgh-i337 on telus in Canada.
went to put a telus sim in and it recognizes that its in there (so sim tray must work..) but i get "Not registered on network" problem...
tried 3 different telus sims, all do the same thing..
my IMEI matches the one on the physical phone so all good there?
its not rooted as i downloaded root checker and i restored it back to factory twice...
i just want service it does not make calls or texts. everything else is fine..
what gives.. thanks for any help sorry if this specific issue has been covered!

Go to settings>>more netowrks>>mobile networks>>network operators..let it search then choose Telus, if it works you should see a message "registered on network" watch for it because it disappears after a few seconds.
The other thing you should check is that the network is actually up, not sure which part of the country you are in but you might want to check the Telus site to make sure they aren't just having network issues.... happened in Calgary a few months ago....
Also check network mode in settings should be set to lte/wcdma/gsm lol I set mine to GSM only and nothing worked....

Just a silly question but did the sim click into place or can it just slide ot? When it is properly in place, you should have to push it in to eject it.

So having further checked into the phone, the IMEI is blacklisted and reported lost or stolen.... That's why it worked at first and now does not!
Be careful buying used phones off Craigslist or anywhere I learned the hard way thank you for your time! :/
