[Q] Titanium Backup Question - Vibrant General

Hopefully i don't get flammed for this but i did search and couldn't find any answers.
I have a couple of issues/how-to's for Titanium backup pro:
How do i backup alarms/clocks? I select country/timezone option in green but it never backs it up after a new ROM install.
how do i backup home screens? I remember a desktop option but i dont see it in pro or current version. Is it possible?
Thanks in advance for your help.

1. tb can backup the alarm.apk, but it won't backup saved alarms. such as 8:30a.m. mon, wed, fri and alarm tone.
2. tb cannot backup home screens. I don't know of any that will back up the native launchers. But laucher pro, adw, adw ex, etc do have an option to backup/restore home screen.

when i just want to back up only certain items, i go to the Backup/Restore tab and select the item i need to back up. a popup should appear onscreen with the first set of options being "Backup!", "Freeze!" or "Un-Install!". hit backup and you'll be on your way.
alternately (and i find this way the easiest), you can just set up a schedule to have your phone do an automatic backup at certain times of the week. this is done by selecting the schedules tab and either adding a new schedule (or editing a current one) to meet your needs. for example; my current backup schedule is "Backup all user apps + system data". i have set to occur twice a week and at 2a my time.

that's incorrect. you can restore your saved alarms but it's usually not recommended to restore the red items in TiBU (those are the system files and it can cause stability issues not that i've ever experienced issues with alarms).

i can vouch for launcher pro; it does backup and restore your homescreen settings.

If you use LauncherPro and back it up / restore it using TiB it will restore your settings as well with the exception of widgets.

Im not sure if this works for other launchers but i hiave noticed that when i backup launcher pro with titanium back up it does back up the homescreens, however if you have made back ups with launcher pro it seems to cause a glitch and not allow you to restore the LP backup through LP but does restore the backup from titanium. I hope that made sense .

I've never ran into that issue before. I've always been able restore my homescreens through launcher pro just fine.

For me it's less effort to try and backup these things Although Oniyuni is correct backing up some of the alarms setting do cause issues. Seems to me just as fast just re-input them.

Thanks for the help folks

Backup homescreen settings?

I was just wondering if there is any way of backing up everything that I have placed on my homescreen? I hate when I flash a new ROM and I have to put everything back on my homescreen the way I had it. I know u can do that with launcherpro, but I don't want to. I actually love the espresso UI, I'm tired of stock UI (came from the MT3G). So is there any way to backup my homescreen without having to change my launcher? Thanks

Nope.......
I have only done this once, but it worked fine. I think as long as you are on the same ROM it shouldn't hurt...
Restore the cache from a previous backup with ROM Manager. All my home screen settings were restored.
Titanium backup? I dont know if it will do UI settings for the espresso UI (which I hate) but it worked great for launcher pro (and every other piece of data on my phone lol)

[Q] Home Screen backup question?

I have a simple question, I'm currently on CM 7 nighty 7 and was wondering if it’s possible to back up your Home screen with all your Widgets and shortcuts with either an app or a software setting somewhere? With CM7 I normally just flash over on previous builds, but as many of you know, that sometimes problems happen for whatever reason and a full wipe is required or recommended. So with that being said, it can be a pain to have to always start from scratch on setting up your home screen shortcuts and widgets. Not sure if it matters but I have both ADW Ex and Launcher Pro, which both have backup settings but do not allow Widgets to be backup. Just trying to make it little easier if at all possible, Thanks.
Derek
It needs to be saved to the SD Card and widgets cannot be saved, which is why only the applications are able to be restored. In short, no there is no way. But even still, having all the applications atleast restored back to where you want them is a huge help.
Yes there is a way. There is an app called MyBackUp Pro. I use it to restore my homescreen. Everything is restored with the exception of the widgets. The widgets will be on the screen but "broke" so to say. I just remove the "broken" widget and replace it again.
This can be done though default ADW as you can backup and restore but as stated the widget has to be replaced. You don't need any special apps for it work normally its saved on root of your sdcard when you save it.

Can I backup my icon/apps layout in Titanium Backup or some other way?

So, I've been using Titanium backup (full paid version) on my phones and tablets for a while, and I LOVE it, but I can't figure out how to backup the layout of my icons with it.
On my old phones I used Launcher Pro, so when I restored my apps + data it would install LP and it's data (and it's backup), there-by placing all my icons where I had them (minus widgets), which was super easy and awesome. Loved it.
Well, I don't have a need for an aftermarket launcher on my Galaxy 10.1, and as it's just added processes, I don't want to use one. So, how can I back up my icon layouts (and widgets if possible, but I doubt it) on my home screens so that I don't have to manually place them each time I try a new ROM? And if this isn't possible in TB, is there another app I could use for this?
Much appreciated...

MIUI ROMs have this function built in.
You might also check out FileExpert and/or myBackupPro...but I don't think they'll have what you're looking for.

Yep. MIUI, pronounced "my U I" (my user interface). But if you haven't gotten into flashing ROMs yet, then you might not find what you're hoping for.
Here's a link, if you're interested in the literature. But a word of caution, if you screw it up...you might wish you hadn't tried.

Look around youtube for a tour of MIUI ROMs.

Anyone else know of an app that can do what I am needing?
Can you not use tb to backup desktop touchwiz launcher? Would that not backup the layouts as well?

Yes you can. Just tried it then deleted a icon and restored data which put the icon back .

That didn't work for me earlier. Do I have to have a specific app/rom to do that?
MyBackup Pro has an option to backup your home screen layout, it won't backup your widgets but atleast the placeholders will be in the right spot & it can restore all your apps shortcuts on the home screens!!
ADW will do that

What I did was open tb, find [descktop] touchwiz launcer in app list. It should be highlighted green. Then I just backed up like normal and closed tb, then deleted a shortcut icon off my homescreen and went back to tb, found touchwiz launcher again, pressed it and pressed restore and chose data only. Went back to homescreen and deleted shortcut was back.
Just incase you did somthing wrong

Isn't ADW a launcher, or can it run as just an app? I don't want an aftermarket launcher... :/

Never thought to back up the launcher, thanks for that trick. Wouldn't this be a problem if switching to different roms though if they use different launchers(like backing up a stock launcher on a touchwiz rom), correct me if im wrong.
I just tried this as well. On my Galaxy Note 2 it is called TouchWiz Home. When I restore it, it only restores the deleted pages, and icons, not the widgets. So, how do I backup the widgets?

Reboot Phone Launcher options?

I have LauncherPro,ADW and Preinstalled Launchers on my S4. Every time I restart my phone if asks me which Launcher I want to use and I pick one and Click "always" but I still have to choose again with each restart. Any ideas?
Thanks
Go into settings application tab and set the main launcher you want to default. (i clear the cache in the launcher app also)
I think it is a bug though, I notice it happens over and over with certain launchers. You have to play with it for a few, it will go away.
Good luck.

If you have root, freeze all but the launcher you want to use with Titanium Backup. If you want to change back to that launcher, thaw it out.

[Q] Backup Home screen and other screens

Hi all,
my question is: how can I backup my folders/icons/shortcuts/widgets of my home screen or of other screens (I usually have 5 screens used) ?
What I mean is, after a factory reset, I usually restore accounts and programs (Titanium Backup) but my folders/shortcuts/icons are gone. I usually create a lot of Direct Call shortcuts on one of my screens, organized in folders.
So: can I backup at least my direct call shortcuts, or all of my shortcuts ?
Thanks.

Are you using Touchwizz? AFAIK you can't back up widgets on it. Haven't used TW myself for a long time, but once I backed it up with Titanium and restored "data only", and the icons and layout - sans widgets - were restored as before.
