I am pretty sure I installed SC 2.5 but im not sure if it was a voodoo or nonvoodoo install, how do i check bc i want to upgrade to 2.8 but I dont want to delete data, how do i figure out which I installed....
Check your Quadrant score. If it is around 1000 you installed nonvoodoo. If it is around 1500 then you installed voodoo.
If you still aren't sure of which one you installed just remember that the voodoo version can be installed (you don't want to install nonvoodoo over voodoo).
I scored 956 and 1056....must non voodoo

so i installed the voodoo version of 2.8 and i still only scored and 896 on quadrant.....wtf?
You have to install the eb01 voodoo kernel as well.

No, the rom includes the kernel (which is based on EB16 so you don't want to go back to EB01).
However, this problem has been happening to some people when installing 2.8 (including me). Try installing SC 2.6 voodoo and when booting you should hear the voice doing the conversion. Once it's done and you boot up, just reboot into recovery and install 2.8 voodoo and you should now have 2.8 with voodoo enabled.
I don't know why this happens or why this works but I read this in another post and it worked for me so you might want to give it a shot.
Edit: It was jereeder who I got this info from so if it works for you then thank him.

Anyone got a link to fresh toast with bfs and fps?
The fresh updater doesn't work, says the mirror doesn't exists.
The Fresh Updater works fine. You're just a retard. Follow the tutorial on geekfor.me on how to update the server info in the updater, then update to your heart's content.
And the kernel is in the dev forum. Use the search bar. Of course, then again it's on the first page.*rolleyes*

kernel =! rom
You could run one of the programs in ava toolbox to extract the kernel from fresh's rom. I'm not sure if there is a program to make a zip file out of the extracted kernel to flash it though.

I'm actually looking for this
http://geekfor.me/new-release/fresh-toast-experimental/
but doesn't really matter anymore, settled on king's kernel for now.
the download on fresh updater probably isnt working because that is a 2.1 kernel and will not work on fresh now. anyways, kings kernel is probably the best one out there since fflokes kernel imo. if it was the server you can reset it to default in the app and i'm sure you would have been smart enough to do that if you were smart enough to know how to flash a kernel.
I flash Epic Experience - Version 1.2.07a and all the rooted apps like titanium
backup and wifitether etc they are reporting that need root, help please.
dito33
Sounds like you didn't flash a Kernel with root enabled.
I didn't do any kernel but Experience working good with all other apps.
Do I need to restore data and cashe from clockworkmod.
dito33
You need a KERNEL with ROOT enabled otherwise applications that require ROOT do not work.
Go back to the Epic Experience page and read the Special Notes on the first post.

Yeah I see that now that I need kernel, do you have any suggestion what kernel

Xtreme Kernel! I don't just recommend it, SchizoPunk (of Epic Experience) does as well.
Thanks guys I already slap the SyndicateROM and so far working good with
built in wifi tethering also working and all the rooted apps.
Since this is the full ver. I am looking to tweak the cpu supposed to be built in
just can't figure out how to do that part I don't see it.

If you wish to OC, search XDA for SetCPU and download it (it's $2 in the Market).
I got it with setcpu, thanks on respond.

I just got my droid x and have the latest update 2.2.1 Installed... I love blur but hate the bloated ware that's installed.... what's the best blur rom out? And what is blur 3.0 im hearing about

Stay Stock ROM. Root, overclock to about 1200. Enjoy a superfast phone that everything works on, nice and smooth, no chokes, no worries.
Can u point me to a stock rooted rom please....
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Just use z4root to root your phone yourself. You don't need to install a pre-rooted rom.
I was the same way, I liked some of the Blur apps (without the sms I dont think you can resize video and send an mms, I like the shortcut contact icons) so I run Apex which is great. Runs smooth and fast. you can reinstall any of the removed blur apps by just running the apk in the removed apps zip file he has or by using the terminal emulator which is not the difficult to use once you read how to, so def try apex's rom (1.3.1)
http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/d...x-1-3-0-droid-x-running-running-fast-can.html
On an aside...I tried overclocking and personally (after I clocked to 1.2 or something my phone went into constant reboots and was a PITA to somehow drop it down to 1ghz before it would freeze and reboot, but i didnt notice a huge difference while at 1.1) id just try the roms first...

to clear this up...rooting is a process that allows you to do "things" like install other roms and run some programs...same a sunblood...z4root is the one i use. Then you can try another rom and whatnot
I think he means just root & overclock if you like the blur. You can remove the boat easily after you root ( be sure to make a back up before you start modifying in case something goes wrong or you need to get back stock for an update). You can use Root explorer to rename the apps you don't want or titanium backup to freeze or delete them ( after you make a backup). Rubix blurry is a great custom rom, tranquility lets you add what blur you want back in.

Blur 3.0 is for the D2 (Droid 2) only right now. And I believe it's only a 2.2 ROM and not a 2.2.1 like our DX's. An updated Blur *might* land on the DX but since the D2 Blur update is on an older kernel, they would have to rework it for our device with a newer kernel...more time/effort/money possibly.

I have flashed Jt's eb16 voodoo kernel 3 times and it doesnt install voodoo.... phone just reboots and quadrant continues to give me 900 ratings.

I am seeing the same thing. Installed SC 2.8 and then the voodoo kernel by itself. File conversion is not taking place. I even tried to disable voodoo and then re-enable. Nothing.
+1 I found out though from irc if u installed miui,at any point it will screw up voodoo

yeah, i had the same problem. flash SC 2.6v instead of 2.8v, since 2.8 doesn't seem to be working for voodoo conversions. once you've gotten 2.6 installed and you've heard the woman's voice telling you your file conversion happened successfully, then you can go to 2.8. that was my experience anyway...
Anyone still having trouble go install voodoo eb01 kernel

I just rooted my phone. And i just need to know what apps should i install after i root my phone.

If you don't know what to do after a root why did you do it?
Most people get rid of bloatware or try different roms like cyanogenmod, miui or roms with sense 3.
I need root for running a samba server (windows file share) so it's more easy to get photos from and mp3s to the phone. Apart from that i only wanted to get rid of bloatware so my phone would drain the battery more slowly.
I rooted my phone just to oc it. But then i heard if rooted phone can get free apps. Is it true??
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Besides oc, there are many other changes, such as boot animation, splash screen, recovery, backup and particularly cooked ROM. CM7, MIUI, ARHD and etc does improve the phone stability, reception, and make your phone versatile. I read one quote in this forum that these ROM makes your US$400 phone becoming US$600 performance.
The best way to make use of a rooted phone is to read and search within threads. Make your choices and ask when you meet problem.

free apps on the market are still free
and installing illegal downloaded apps that cost money on the market....that is possible without rooting.
There are very few apps that need root and normally you will never need them.
With a few exceptions: the app "AdFree" removes almost every in-app ad....and you can use "setCPU" to over- or underclock your phone.
If you really need it (like me) then have a look at cifsmanager....you can mount network shares with that so you can stream videos from every share/computer without having to download them to your phone first. I like it but it's not for everybody...

If you mean Free paid apps then no It is not and no one on XDA will tell you how to do this. If you want an app then buy it if it is not free

This is the one that i really really want. Now i use ARHD OC to 1.6ghz set by daemon controller. Already flash blueHD themes,Beats audio system and some rooted apps like addfree.. is there anything else that can i do??
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Just search the forum. You'll figure out more than anyone can tell you in a few posts. After flashing a ROM there are a whole lot of mods that you can flash to customize it to your liking. The main purpose of rooting is to have complete control over your phone. What you do after that depends on you. Look around.
Think about Titanium Backup. You could Backup your Apps and settings, if you want to change your ROM later.

I just flash rcmix kernel.. then my usb became failure.. how to back to normal???
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Flash a different kernel... ie lordmod's sense kernels (NOT THE AOSP!) or leedroids..
BTW what version of RCMix Kernel did you flash?
Only because I'm currently using RCMix V11.1 CFS no call record, and I've no problems with usb... at least i don't think so anyways...
As for what app to use post ROOT, I'd say either Mybackup or Titanium backup to start clearing bloatware as well as backing up your apps with its data ready for restore on a new ROM.. ^_~
Terminal emulator is useful too! ^_^
The kernel that i flash is 2.6.35 rcmix... Should i downgrade??
Now i got some problem.. everytime im in game mode.. my phone suddenly restart by itself. Why is this happen?? Is the rom problem or phone??
