Did you turn s=off ? prior to doing any of those things you attempted to do?
and if you did

It's a common problem when people pull the trigger before knowing what type of ammunition they are using.
Thank you!
And yes, S-off!
I try to get comfortable with the threats you posted, but it`s not very easy for me cause I am a german guy.
I hope that I can talk to you if I got further questions.
Thank you for your help!

Which version of Recovery you have installed? Did you do full system wipe and then try to flash IG?

That wasnt a threat. I PROMISE it wasnt. It a way of saying "jumped in prior to doing research"

So, finally it worked, thanks!
I only copied CM7 onto my SD Card and flashed it via CWM 3.0.0.5 and it worked.
you were probably trying to flash a froyo rom on recovery 3.0.0.5. upgrade to 3.0.0.6 and you dont ever have to worry about what rom your flashing.

hello all. so i have a rooted mytouch 4g that im loving but having issues with. i permarooted it with Visionary and everything works great but when i try to boot my phone in recovery, it goes to a black screen with an exclamation point and i have to pull the battery. I also tried it through Rom Manager to do a backup and it gets the same screen. any ideas would be of great help. thanks in advance!
Seems to be stock recovery, with rom manager flash clock work recovery
Some times rom manager doesn't like to flash recovery on our phone. Theres an option after you enable advanced features to delete recovery before flaashing. Use that. May help. If not, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=852905
^^ That should help.
thanks im gonna try that and see where it gets me! i did do my research before doing this and re read everything but i guess im still not quite too learned yet ha.
tried after enabling advanced mode and it didnt help so when i get home and have a computer available ill try the adb way and see if that helps. seems pointless to have a rooted phone if i cant flash a rom onto it haha. hopefully i can fix this!

Sounds like CW didn't install right. Many users have found that flashing CW twice or even 3 times seems to clear the issue up.
Try that.
so i got s-off and then tried installing CW 2 or 3 times like you said and hey it worked great! did and nandroid backup and all so im back in business! thanks so so so much for the help

Glad I was able to help. Seems CW needs to be flashed more than once in order to 'take' and install correctly on some devices. Anyway, glad you're up and runnin.
hello everyone,
few days ago i pruchased a new kingston 16g card, and follow the resource bible tried to restore my cell back to stock. i format the sdcard, insert to the slot, and then follow the steps "stock nandroid retore" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845756
everything worked fine, i am sure it was completed, but at the very last step to reboot my phone, it stuck at "mytouch 4g" boot screen, cant reboot into the system, bricked i think? so i tried another thread by using PD15IMG, finally i can back to normal and a clean stock status.
(my phone is s-off, permrooted, oc1.5g)now my question is, why can't i success the nandroid restore? did i do anything wrong or do i need some more roms/files/images on my new sdcard? after this i even tried to backup my own nandroid backups and then run restore via rom manager, but i still got the same results, can't completed nandroid restore, always stuck at mytouch 4g boot screen
sorry for my really bad English, hope u guys can understand me... i just need an answer/method/guide that i can try some more new roms/oc kernels in the future without worry bricking my phone. dont really wnat to go over and over again the PD15IMG, i got scared though...
Thank you for ur help!
You probably flashed recovery version 3.0.0.5 in which you cannot restore your stock ROM with. If you don't have another ROM, you should install a gingerbread ROM such as CM7 and then flash the 3.0.0.6 recovery available in the development thread. Don't worry, your phone is not bricked. If you can turn it on and get into recovery or hboot, it can always be fixed.
I think your problem is that you had the wrong recovery. Flash Drew's 3.0.0.6 zip file to get that recovery and then pick 3.0.0.5 in more recoveries in Rom Manager. Also do your nandroids and restore in Recovery. I never go thru rom manager, it just works better that way for me.
really thank you both for the quick response
i just followed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944681 ,looks like i completed all the steps, but when i reboot and open rom manger, it still shows current/latest recovery:clockworkmod 3.0.0.5, so idk whether i did it right or not?
anyways, later on i might try either my won nandroid backup/recovery or the stockclean recovery again, then we will know the results...
i really appreciate for ur help!
Yes, when you open up all recoveries in Rom Manager it will still show as 3.0.0.5. If you followed the steps correctly when you flash that one and open up recovery, it will actually be 3.0.0.6 which will show at the top. This version allows you to switch between froyo (2.x) and gingerbread (3.x) based ROMs.

In clckworkmod it will always show 3.0.0.5. Flash the 3.0.0.5 in more recoveries. Then when you go in recovery it will read 3.0.0.6 sounds confusing but its not once you got it. Happy flashing!
one more question
since my software information shows 2.2.1 version, am i on froyo or gingerbread? sry for the stupid question...just cuz i wanna flash an OC kernel but don't know which one should i pick? stock kernel or CM7-Gingerbread kernel? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876848
i remember i flashed this "Kernel 2.6.32.21grankin010OC0v0.05" yesterday, and it frozen my phone after reboot
thank you again

SMART! read alot, the community is here to help.
Hi guys,
Okay title might be a little exaggerated haha but...
Recently broke my hand and one handed computing really sucks. So i grabbed my transformer from the closet that I hadn't used in months. It was acting pretty weird, very slow, and just unpleasant to use. I had previously had it rooted and had a kernal and rom on it, but wanted to revert to stock and try ICS. I really forgot how to do everything so I tried to use this guide:
http://theunlockr.com/2011/11/28/how-to-unroot-and-remove-cwm-recovery-on-asus-transformer/
Downloaded both files. and tried to get into clockwork but kept getting a big ! mark. Gooogled around and found that I could download recovery instller from the market. That got me to be able to get into recovery... I did notive that I couldn't get out of recovery and had to do cold boots to get past it. Still tried it though. When I finally got to uploading those files I still couldn't get ouit of recovery and cold booting just freezes.
Can someone PLEASE help me. I really want to be able to use the comptuter without suffering.
I just want to get it working and hopefully get to ICS.
Would not might using a custom rom if there is a stable ICS release u guys recommend.
If someone can step by step me i would be extremely grateful.
Thanks alot.

How did yo install cwm recovery? You mentioned RecoveryInstaller, I hope you didn't use Acer Recovery Installer.
The RecoveryInstaller for the TF is not available on the market. you have a link to the one you use?
or did yo use ROM Manager to install CWM, what version of CWM do you have, ect.
yea i used rom manager sorry
and i think it was 5.5.0.4 cwm
the exact thing happened to me, do you know if your tf is compatible with nvflash?
This *might* help

The problem is I am stuck in the CWM.
Anymore help? please?

Let's not brick your phone intentionally just yet! Try getting hold of a PD15IMG.zip (2.2.1 or 2.3.4, either works unless you want to root again, then go for 2.2.1). Boot into bootloader with the PD15IMG on the root of your SD, then let it update. If it doesn't and says Fail-PU, then you are bricked and could send it back to T-Mobile. Or you could try flashing another ROM. Hope this helps!

do this: wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvik
flash the original ROM (the one you have a backup of, but not the actual back up)
THEN restore the backup, it shouldnt get stuck at system anymore
i had a similar problem and this helped. hopefully it works for you

I think you're fine honestly. Good luck matey!
Get a 12v power supply, cut the end off and strip the wires. Take the battery out and touch the wires to the phones battery contacts a couple times. Replace battery try to power on. If it doesn't turn on your done, if it does try again. Tell them it was on the charger and shut off when you unplugged it and wouldn't turn on.

I had a similar problem when the splash screen got stuck last night flashing a new radio. I took the sdcard and plugged it in the netbook, accessed the root rolder and renamed the PD15IMG.zip so the HBOOT wouldn't read the file. It stopped the HBOOT from reading the file so I could access Recovery then reflashed my recovery file. I forgot to do the data wipe/dalvik before I flashed the radio lol.

I'm looking for a guide to return my phone to stock.
I've got CM7 on it but it's being lent to a friend who wants the stock HTC stuff.
I've done a factory reset through HBOOT (think that is it) and now it doesn't want to connect to my PC to fling a HTC rom onto it.
I'm UK, if it makes a difference to the roms link.
Thanks for any help!
Quick way, flash this to get a stock htc froyo rom, it won't take away root access or cwm though.

Phone did go into an endless cycling of trying to boot and playing the HTC start up tune, but a battery removal sorted that.

How can i flash this, with CW or how, coz i try to flash from recovery mod and wan't do the thing, it sa's "can't open sdcard update.zip" or when i chose a zip file it sa's "please switch to Edify scripting...." what should i do... :silly: thx in advance..
Flash this file first, then once that is flashed you'll be in a temporary 2.5 recovery.
Using that, flash the file that said you needed Edify scripting.
thank you very much sir, its working now, :good: , but i have one question still, does it RUU... remove root or phone is still rooted... i know im bothering you but i need to sell the phone tomorow...
