Hey guys,
I traded my MT4G for a G2. It's in stock condition. The software version is:
Baseband- 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
Kernel - 2.6.32.17
Build # - 1.22.531.8
Anyone know if there's an issue with rooting this version for the G2? And is this the latest stock version? Thanks. I'm just trying to prevent a brick!
I'm not aware of any rooting problems, but if gfree failed, the worst that could happen is it would just stay S-ON. Go ahead and try it; as long as you stay away from visionary you have a 1% chance of bricking. Good luck!

Hello all,
I have a G2 running that I haven't touched, except for rooting. It's running Android 4.2.2, kernel 3.4.0-perf-g7c2d0a2, build JDQ39B, software version VS98011A. I'm running stock (just as it came), no ROMs, nothing else, TWRP not installed.
If I do the OTA update that started popping up a couple of days ago (I would like to update), will I screw my phone up? Will I screw up my root? I am most worried about losing my tethering....
Thank you for any help
Most often..No. Some people get lucky, but it isn't recommended.
Hi -
I have been an iphone guy for last 2 years and Just purchased a new Sprint LG G2 phone from ebay which was sim unlocked. I am from india.
After purchasing found out that this is not factory unlocked and it was rooted and then sim unlocked. After hearing this, i am scared to make any changes on the phone thinking that i might lose my carrier network which i am currently using.
I am currently on:
- Android Version: 4.2.2
- Baseband version: M8974A-AAAANAZM-2.0.20018
- Kernel Version: 3.4.0
- Build number: JDQ39B
- Software version - LS980ZVA
I am kind of intrested in installing different kind of ROM's that are available however i am scared that i might lose simunlock.
Can someone please guide me on things that i can do with this device without losing the unlock?
I am complete newbee and helping me overcome this fear would be appreciated.
Thanks
Sam
Well you can check out the permanent SIM unlock which is for Sprint g2 and even if you switch roms it should still work

well I really don't know much about the sprint g2 I do know that zv7 was the original firmware that shipped with the sprint g2 and then there was the update to zv8 and then zva and the latest is zvc, zv7 was the easiest to exploit for recovery and zv8 is still exploitable but zva is exploitable but can only use custom roms based on zva and zvc is not exploitable, each of theses is the different radio/baseband for each new update on the sprint g2, you can look around for how to flash roms with the sprint g2 or ask around, I will look around and let you know if I find anything

ioroot is the way to go with any device, and root process doesn't brick device; if pa 4.4.3 is using lg official sources then you would just need to flash and your done
Ioroot25, as mentioned, to root. Use AutoRec to get recovery. Modem is fine since you're already on KitKat by the looks of it.
As far as which panel you have, there's methods to determine floating around, just search.
I've been neglecting my phone for a while, so I decided I should update my rom. Currently I'm running an ls980 with an old beanstalk build with the zv8 ota being the last one I installed. I'm looking through the mahdi thread to flash to it, and I was wondering if anyone could guide me through the process. Do I need to flash a new modem since I'm running a 4.4 build? Also, at what point throughout the installation could I update to zvd or is it even compatible with mahdi? Last I remember was when zva came out and there was some issue with the bootloader it caused. Does that happen with zvd? I appreciate any help
Hi Guys. I recently sold my HTC One M7 for an LG G2 and never looked back, so I'm hoping some of you guys/gals could help ease the transition. I got this phone already rooted and since then have installed the latest build of CM12 Lollipop. I want to flash a new kernel but have read that certain kernels have to have certain modems and/or bootloaders. So my questions are :
How do I find out which bootloader i'm running
Which modem should I be running with CM12
Which bootloader do I need
To fill in the rest of the blanks, I'm running an AT&T D800 and would like to flash the Render Kernel onto CM12 Lollipop. I'm also currently running a KK Modem, is this correct? Lastly, I do not know the method the original owner used to root. Thanks in advance!!
